*** Updated Sep 17 ***
A bit long winded but here is the guide how to get 22% off any purchase at Halfords.

First get yourself £15.95 Toyota Owners Club Premium membership here (*credit to jamesm182*):

toyotaownersclub.com/mem…ip/

It gives 15% discount for in store Halfords purchases (NOTE - only 10% for bikes).

Or alternatively get yourself a British Cycling £21 FAN membership (£18.90 if paying by DD). Membership gives you 10% in-store discount including Boardman bike range. Ask your friends who might already have it.

*** The site was taken down and is not clear when/whether it would come back. You can purchase gift vouchers over the phone but company only gives 7% discount (thanks to runix20) ***Calculate the cost of your purchase after the discount and buy Halfords gift vouchers with 10% discount here: select.halfordsbusinessservices.co.uk/
Codes - MCOUNTHal09, ELGHAL13, NRTSCHAL13 - all give 10% off
You need to register with the Select site first in order to apply the code. There is £2 delivery charge for Recorded delivery or £7 for RM Special delivery.
In order to purchase more than £300 you will need to keep adding the maximum to your basket, for example add 20 x £10 vouchers to your basket and then go back to the catalogue and add another 20 x £10 vouchers etc.

Many large employers and shopping clubs do have dedicated discount code for the site. You can register with The Big Saving Club, Ideal Extras club, JML (both gives 8% discount though)

thebigsavingsclub.com
myidealrewards.com
Lotus, Escort Cabriolets club members and Morton Michel policy holders also get 10% discount:
seloc.org/mem…le/
escortcabrioletclub.co.uk/for…rs/
mortonmichel.com/Chi…ts/
travelcambs.org.uk/cyc…ts/

Alternatively you can buy some Halfords gift vouchers at Zeek (usually 8-10% discount) which can be handy for smaller purchases:
zeek.me/buy…ds/

Now order your item via Quidco (3%) or TCB (3.03%) and use Reserve&Collect service.

Make the journey to the store once order is available to collect and get your goods

This method will work on anything including sale items.

ADVISE NOTE:
If your payment for gift voucher order is not accepted DO NOT try again. PHONE your bank - they did flag your transaction as fraudulent. Request them to remove the bar then wait at least 30 minutes to an hour before trying again.

Item shop cost is £349
To pay in shop after Toyota discount -15%= £296.65
You will load this amount to prepaid card -10% = £266.99
3% quidco should track at £10.47
Final item cost (assuming you already have Toyota card) = £256.52
Or 26.5% discount which is not bad result. Mind you additional saving can be made if you find working discount code for online shop when you make c&c

This was commented before few times. You can't get any discount on any sort of gift vouchers in the store using BC card but you can pay for your order with gift vouchers you already have after getting price reduction using BC card

That's good if others have done it. I didn't know if the terms have changed as the thread started a while ago.

You can with gift cards with BC.
jonnybravo147
22 Jul 17 #731
Just read the BC terms again. It's got a separate condition about can't buy gift cards with the discount.

"10% off is valid on any purchase, excludes gift vouchers and Halfords Autocentres."

So I think the other term does mean you can't get 10% off and pay with gift cards/ vouchers.

"May not be used in conjunction with any other voucher."
jonnybravo147
22 Jul 17 #730
Thanks for replying.

I hope you're right but I'm reading these terms as meaning you can't get the 10% discount if you want to use with gift cards or Cycle2Work vouchers.
masekwm
21 Jul 17 #729
That's just buying vouchers
jonnybravo147
7 Jul 17 #728
Have the terms changed recently? Or does it depend on the Halfords staff you deal with?

The Toyota Club terms says "Cannot be used in conjunction with Halfords gift vouchers, gift cards or Halfords Cycle2Work scheme.".

And the BC terms says "May not be used in conjunction with any other voucher".

I've looking at the Boardman Hybrid Team and don't want to be lumbered with £630 of vouchers!

You can't buy the vouchers from the halfordsbusinessservices site now, you have to ring. Also the discount has been reduced to 7%.
I queried why the website was down and received this response:

Thank you for contacting Halfords Business Services and for your interest in our products

Halfords Gift Vouchers are being used all over the UK as rewards and incentives for staff, customers and sales teams. Halfords Gift Vouchers can be redeemed in any one of our 400 stores across the UK against any product.

We offer a discount for bulk purchase of our gift vouchers. If you are purchasing less then £20,000 per annum we offer a 7% discount on face value. If you are purchasing more than £20,000 per annum then we offer a 10% discount on face value.
One of our team will contact shortly to discuss your requirements further, but if in the meantime you would like to see our product range please click here

Shame, I used this same fantastic deal 2 years ago to get a great price on a Boardman Hybrid Pro. The BC cycling discount came in really handy afterwards for lots of things from Halfords like sat-navs, Garmins etc and more than paid for itself.

You could just buy it directly from boardman? Sometimes they are cheaper there. For example, the Team FS is £20 cheaper than Halfords.

If it's been removed from their website then there's nothing much you can do. Sometimes the store will still carry old stock mind. It may be worth checking in store if you want to buy from halfords?

Here's the link to buy from boardman.

Has anyone picked up a Boardman MTB Pro FS recently, i web chatted the halfords site as its not listed and they told me this;

Declan: I can confirm these are now obsolete and fully sold out at our company i'm afraid.
Me: but they are still listed on the boardman website?
Declan: I understand, we have stopped selling these at our retail shops, we have 0 stock hence it being removed from our website i'm afraid.
Me: will they be replaced by a new model?
Declan: I am afraid I do not have that information.

Picked up the bike yesterday and the staff were very helpful. I know Halfords seems to get a bad rep with their CS, but they have been great for me.

That said, I've yet to ride the bike, and the know you what may hit the fan if things aren't set up correctly.

Bike looks amazing though so I'm pleased from that perspective haha.

I'm not sure he'll be able to go to the store with me unfortunately as he doesn't live anywhere near the store. Hopefully I will get away with it.

I will just say it's my flat mate's card and we will share the bike. Hopefully they will accept it.

halfords denied by quidco baswards!!! after i reserved a bike online, and paid in store on pickup!

and i got a lame email from quidco

Unfortunately, on this occasion your claim has been declined because the cashback from your sale will not be paid to us by the retailer. In order to pay us, they have to recognise us as having been the party who referred the sale to them, and in this case they do not. To explain, cashback is actually a referral commission that we receive from the retailer, for referring you to them and making a purchase. Instead of keeping it we pass it on to you, however we do have to receive it from the retailer in order to pass this on.

Crossbow
6 Sep 16 #703
No, only BC or Toyota can be used.

Only way to know for sure & quickly (as very few frequent this thread) is to register at the voucher site & check the codes yourself before purchasing.

Quidco could be ok, but may be declined for the reason in bold text:
"3% for all sales, including Reserve & Collect"
"Cashback will not be paid in conjunction with any other offer, voucher or discount code unless listed on this page, or with any other discounts [could include BC/Toyota] such as staff or student discounts".

Calculations...
£519.20 -£51.92 (BC/Toyota 10% off) = £467.28
£467.28 -£46.73 (vouchers 10% off) = £420.55

Toyota membership: +£15.95
BC membership: +£18.90 (DD cost)

Note about Toyota membership 10% off bikes may not work any more: "Cannot be used in conjunction with Halfords gift vouchers, gift cards or Halfords Cycle2Work scheme", so take the BC membership instead if not sure. On the other hand, you will be producing the Toyota card first, & only then the gift vouchers, so who's going to know or realise?

Quidco (slim chance / not guaranteed): 3% of the amount paid (£420.55) excl VAT. In other words, 3% of 350.46 = £10.51 cashback

So, taking all things into consideration, the minimum you'll need to pay is: £420.55 +£15.95 -£10.51 = £425.99

Or, the most you could get off is: £519.20 -£425.99 = £93.21

I'm after this boardman bike.

halfords.com/cyc…7-5

Since some of things are really old in this thread, can anyone kind person out there work out what's the most I could currently get off? It's currently £519.20.

Can BC membership and Toyota owners membership be used together? Are the voucher discounts still applicable? I'm aware of quidco too.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at a 200-ish bike - so if I take out any of the membership its effectively the membership charges cancelling the 10% off - so no gain really atleast purely from a bike buy perspective purely unless there is any other voucher which just works without membership? Are Toyota and BC memberships covered by the Distance Sales Act? If so it means you have 14 days to cancel/return a product or service for a full refund. Therefore could you take membership out, sort out your Halfords purchased within 14 days and then get a refund on the membership?

Thats the problem for me at the moment - price gets good then I need to add £15 on for the Toyota membership...

Apply for BC membership (receive membership card?)

Thanks for the reply. There is a 10% online sale off everything in Halfords, but now only realised this offer for ~23% is for in store only.

You mentioned that there are other offers that can stack on top of the OP information? I'm looking to buy a mountain bike so if you know of anything else that will attain more £££ off the tag price, it'd be greatly appreciated
senukas
14 Mar 16 #673
The discounting method is still valid but only applies to the purchases in the store. You can't apply gift vouchers or BC/Toyota card discounts online. 22% saving is just an example, many people got bigger discounts with right offers stacking.

13 Mar 16 #672
Hi. Finding this potential 22% discount off the tag price has convinced me to buy a bike through Halfords. However, is all the information given the equates to the 22% discount still usable as this was posted up 2 years and 8 months ago? Has anyone used this recently that can confirm it all still works or say whether some of the information isn't usable anymore??

Also, could someone explain the OP alittle clearer as it's not very well worded/a bit confusing. Which discounts work together with which and can they be used within store or are they only usuable online?

Thanks.

I am getting a bike for myself and my son next week, i have ordered some vouchers from zeek with a £5 bonus credit i got through a referal code when signing up (£250 of vouchers for £222) no postage to pay on them either, although they do seem to take a bit longer to come than the halfords business services site and your limited to 5 vouchers per day. Unfortunately when i tried using the halfords business services site the payment page was having issues with its security, otherwise I would of used them for ease of use. Make sure you check for the padlock symbol in the address bar before proceeding.

This deal is brilliant. Picked up my cx team from halfords today. Was down to £749.99 in store and got this and loads of accessories for about £790. The accessories took the price of my order up to roughly £970(including a 20% of all accessories deal) and all of the items were reserved online for pickup at the seafield store.
So, i had the initial 20% off all accessories, bc membership 10% discount and the 10% discounted vouchers. So glad i seen this post or i wouldve paid nearly 200 quid more. There was no difficulty using the BC discount on top off other discounts and same with no problem paying with vouchets(which i bought yesterday and they came this morning). Halfords also put new pedal, tyres, lights, mudguards and carriers which i bought onto the bike for pickup. Staff were really helpful and i dont usually do halfords

Would you happen to know if that 02 Priority discount is only for the mountain bikes? As I am getting the Hybrid version.
Boardman Hybrid Comp Bike - As it stands factoring it all in I managed to get it down to £295 (another 10% from 02 sounds good though on top ;))

7 Sep 15 #642
If you want to maximise your savings you could wait for national 10% in store discount day and buy then. Otherwise that would be it (unless you want to buy Boardman mountain bike - then you can use 10% off from O2 Priority app, just checked and discount is on top of all current in-store offers).
Enjoy

Hi Senukas!

Well when I was prompted to go to the payments page it didn't load and was blank. I thought maybe the order didn't go through and I'll re-try on a different browser this time, but having checked my account dashboard the order showed up there. I just rang them up now and was told that the payment didn't go through, and was advised to re-order and they'll cancel the previous one - so all good.

New order status showing as: Processed Payment. And everything loaded perfectly this time.

Nice job coming up with this thread. So I'm using the British Cycling membership card + TBC + vouchers, anything else that I missing out that could save me more? Appreciate the help.

Hello again, OP here
If you had no issue on payment page and payment was not rejected during check out then all went fine. My orders all sit with Pending Payment status for couple of years now
Site is not very slick and "friendly" but who cares, it still saves us serious money.

How annoying.

Thanks. Halfords confirmed that the BC card holder needs to be present at purchase time.

Quidco will be fine - I have clicked on my account but order was done by my OH. Gift vouchers are not personalised.

mrbrunes
23 Aug 15 #634
Thanks, although the card just has a name on with no photo id.
Would using someone else's BC card make any difference to Quidco cashback if you're using vouchers to pay? I can;t recall how Quidco verify transactions.

Also do the vouchers have a name on them i.e. could Halfords refuse if they don't match the BC card (or the named buyer if they take down that info e.g. for warranty purposes)? I can't see anything in the Ts&Cs.
senukas
15 Aug 15 #633
If you are lucky to have a friend with BC card then bring him over, Halfords probably won't allow you to use it without him.
mrbrunes
15 Aug 15 #632
Has anyone used a friend's BC membership card? If so, do they need to be present to make the purchase i.e. does the shop verify their address etc. somehow?
I assume if one is paying with vouchers that there will be no credit card with which to cross-check the purchaser's name etc.?

Anyone know if this works in conjunction with the 10% off bikes promo code from here? That code brings the Boardman Comp Hybrid I was looking at down to £359.99 online. Would I be able to combine this with the BC 10% discount and then pay with vouchers? Theoretically sub £300 if I could do this.
senukas
27 Jul 15 #625
10% BC discount must be applied on any valid in-store offer including sales/clearance/specials etc. If your mentioned 15% discount was valid at the time of ordering then I suggest you contact store manager and get your missing 5%.
arnie94
27 Jul 15 #624
The british cycling doesn't work with the last 15% offer, I went to 2 halfords and they didn't want to do 15% + 10%. Instead they offered me 20% (which is good just slightly less)

25 Jul 15 #622
So, I'm thinking of buying a Boardman.

Halford have the 15% off - bringing it down to 254, Quidco 247, 10% (British Cycling), meaning £223.

Am I missing something? Feels like I should be getting is nearer the £200 mark.

23 Jul 15 #620
All this means you can't apply your discount for any gift card/Cycle2Work purchases in the store. I know people get confused and think they can't pay with gift vouchers and apply BC or Toyota cards at the same time. SO buy your gift vouchers and head to the store for more savings

The Carrera Subway thread code was only giving me £10 off when I ordered the other day, £219 retail -> £199 after discounts, at checkout(click and collect). Then I sent away for £200 Halfords vouchers at 10% discount and made the final order via Quidco(3%). Think the total was about £175.
shauno1
17 Jul 15 #613
This is **** - went on to get a Subway earlier today, Halfords auto knocked the price down by £20. (199), added the voucher from the carrera thread and got it down to 186.

Tried it this afternoon and they're now only knocking off £10 and the voucher doesn't work.

This may have been already posted but here is a WARNING about using the voucher order system -

If your application is cancelled DO NOT TRY AND ORDER AGAIN check your bank hasn't blocked the transaction. The voucher ordering system only allows three orders/attempts in any 24 hour period. If you make three failed attempts(because the bank accidentally blocked you) you'll be locked out until the next day, make six failed attempts and you'll be locked out for 48 hours.

You can get around the lockout by making a new account with a new e-mail address and new card, otherwise you'll just have to wait.

Hope somebody finds the info useful.

I had issues with my bank blocking the transaction and didn't know about the lockout so eventually, after ringing the voucher company, I registered with a new card/e-mail and the discount codes/purchase worked OK.
senukas

My partner has just a look at the code the site is running during transaction and it seems there is some postcode checking javascript that looks like it's failing to load

She also said Magento who is the payment gateway was recently acquired by ebay so there may be some conflicts if ebay are updating.

Got the call today my bike is at the Halfords shop but was expecting next week but can't get the vouchers to order. Can use by British Cycling discount and quidco did track so that's something but it's another £86 on price. Wondering what to do, hmmms

Hiya all,

Well I've tried 2 cards now.

Initially a Mastercard CC twice and now my Debit Card.

Spoke to my CC Company they said there's no block or bar on the CC.

The CC chap mentioned something about the site being slow and he's correct the Halfords Business Services site is so slow, its almost like dial up!!!!

I'm starting to get my hair off with this, tried it 3 times now, all it's saying is Order Cancelled, contact us via email or telephone....

What would you guys suggest considering the Select Site is aimed at corporations rather than a single entity?

Thanks all
senukas
25 May 15 #595
Most probably it is your CC. Gift voucher site is handled by third party, not Halfords directly. Just try different card or ring your cc customer service, they might have blocked this transaction.

Hi guys,

I've managed to reserve a Carerra Parva to pay in store and have tried to order vouchers from Halfords Business Services, however, when I tried to pay for vouchers it came up with "Order Error please check your billing information"

Could this be my Credit Card provider or something to do with Halfords??

I'm reluctant to try and order again, anyone with a similar experience of this?

Any advice would be appreciated..

Thanks in advance
senukas
20 May 15 #593
You can call BC and ask them to email your temporary card which is accepted at Halfords. Total discount for small first time purchases will be less than 22%, this is approx estimate if you buy +500 bike
chris_61
20 May 15 #592
Just noticed the Carrera Parva Limited Edition deal thread and i was wondering if anyone could anyone help me, I have a couple of questions.

- How long does it take for the BC membership take to come through the post
- Does the membership automatically renew / is it easy to cancel
- Would I be right in saying that if I bought a bike at £200 I would only have to pay £171?

Original Price: £200
-10% BC Discount = £180
-£180 of Vouchers @ 10% off = £162
-3% cashback (£6)
= £156
+Price of membership £15
TOTAL PRICE PAID = £171

I'm guessing the 22% in the title didn't take into account the price of the membership?
roboraver
20 May 15 #591
Justblaze senukus is telling the truth, don't take it to be honest as the vouchers are used as cash ! only web orders that you have delivered to the store cannot have any additional discount so they really should allow you to use the vouchers + either Toyota OR British Bike membership discount.

If they are still giving you gib just call head office and ask them to call the store while you wait and be pre-pared to grin like a cheshire cat when it all goes through the till.
senukas
20 May 15 #590
I recommend to go back to the store and ask to talk to the manager. Staff lied to you. Both memberships give you discount on top of any in store promotion (they can refuse to apply web promos though). Gift vouchers as payment method are treated as cash, it doesn't matter where/how you have got them.
If staff told you you can't buy Halfords gift vouchers in store at a discount with your membership card then they were right. Otherwise store manager should haul that c**t of sales advisor and lynch him in front of you...
JustBlaze
19 May 15 #589
That's a shame. I didn't have any problems using the discount card with the vouchers. I reserved the bike during a 10% flash sale so actually combined 3 discounts on the bike. Could just be that store you went to so worth trying a different one if there is one nearby.
sandrogalli
18 May 15 #588
just to let you all know, unfortunately I wasnt able to take up this offer. the staff told me that not only could my Toyota discount card not be used in conjunction with any other discount, but that the gift vouchers couldn't be used in conjunction with a discount card.

in fairness the staff were very reasonable, but not sure why they're so strict considering that all the discount does is bring the bike down to a competitive price. the rrp is grossly over inflated compared to what is available elsewhere...

I had to email Toyota about the discount card. They normally send their membership packs out in bunches when they get them in stock so its best to drop them an email. They sent the card out to me on Monday and it arrived Wednesday. The rest of the pack will arrive when they send the next round out.

I managed to use code CYCLESCH on the British Cycling site to bring the cost of the Bronze membership down to £14.18.
I've ordered the Voodoo Bizango from Halfords which was up for £600. I used the British Cycling 10% discount which took it down to £540.
I then ordered £540 worth of Halfords vouchers from the Halfords Select Business service. I used code NRTSCHAL13 which then gave me 10% off. That meant I only paid £486.00 for the vouchers.
Add the cost of the British Cycle membership (£14.18) and that means I'm buying the bike for £500.18.

Anyone ordered vouchers from Halfords Select Business Service? How long do they take to come back?

That may be the way it happens in store but that's not the way it reads, especially with the part about Cycle2Work scheme. I suppose it's irrelevant if nobody has encountered problems.
UPDATE: I have used the select.halfordsbusinessservices.co.uk website and got my vouchers, no problems using them in store after getting 10% discount by showing British Cycling card, it was a Reserve&Collect order - tracked by Quidco but not payed yet though.

That card does seem pretty good, costs 99p. [See edit] So total Halfords discount you can get is now up to 34.03% (29.03% on bikes).
EDIT: Of course you would have to use the Pockit card instead of vouchers... so you lose 4%
EDIT 2: Percentages are inaccurate, will be slightly less as discounts are applied after each other.

We have discussed this before - what it means you can't apply Toyota/BC discount if you want to buy Halfords/other retailers gift vouchers in the store or online.
The only way you can buy gift vouchers with the discount is through select.halfordsbusinessservices.co.uk and that is 10% off. Once you have gift vouchers they are treated as cash in store.
mmickk
24 Mar 15 #559
You can also get 6% cashback using this pre-pay debit card. Got one but not used it yet found out about it on mse. pockit.com/cas…ack also says Quote And more good news... the cashback you get is on top of any promotions they’re offering, instore or online. How handy is that.
hukdster
24 Mar 15 #558
Yes.
Toyota Owners Club + Vouchers + TopCashBack
15 + 10 + 3.03 = 28.03%

British Cycling + Vouchers + TCB
10 + 10 +3.03 = 23.03%

Or with Quidco drop 0.03%
Toyota only 10% on bikes.
TOC = £15.95 per year
BC = £18.90 first year via Direct Debit, then £21 per year. (Possibly £14.23 with discount code CS13, not sure if it works)
The Toyota membership gives 5% more discount than British Cycling (or the same 10% on bikes), although the British Cycling memberships obviously come with other benefits such as discounted bike insurance and 10% discount at Chain Reaction Cycles (each month).

toyotaownersclub.com/dis…-6/

britishcycling.org.uk/mem…nts

So maybe neither card is really meant to be used when paying with Halfords gift vouchers. The Toyota terms seem to make it clear, not so with the British Cycling terms.
I guess it depends whether the staff know or care.

Hi Snafu12,

The company which deals with the vouchers also sells vouchers for many other big companies so I wouldn't worry about that at all. Gong to purchase some more to get a bike carrier next week. With regards to the boardman discount or other discount this is my second purchase and didn't have any problems with using my bcm discount plus an online discount. As far as staff at my local halfords are concerned its a barcode they scan to get you an extra 10 percent off.
snafu12
10 Jan 15 #537
Also just a heads up, well this seems to be the case in my area dont know about yours but your bcm discount cannot be applied to the 15% of boardman deal that halfords currently has on offer. Ive rang 6 different stores in my area all saying its either the 15% or the 10% of you bcm have to choose one.

Big thank you! I have just collected a Voodoo Bizango with a discount of 30% for a grand total of £438  (Instead of £600)

I would recommend people go to collect their item(s) in the evening though. The guy who served me was quite young and when I gave him the printed British Cycling discount voucher, he was suspicious and tried to phone what I assumed was Halfords' head office. He wasn't able to get hold of anyone (I assume because of the time), so he put the discount through.

Had he managed to get in contact with them, the outcome might have been different as strictly speaking the BC discount terms specify that they can't be used with any other discounts.

It is on the 5th page on Halfords deals search
Thanks for support. I suppose this could go under vouchers section but don't know how to change it. Would need Mods evaluation on this...

Why does this deal no longer show up on a Halfords search. Following with interest and rather annoyed at having to search 'senukas' to follow. Have Halfords used their weight and had it removed?

Fingers crossed, I'm due to (hopefully) collect my shiny new bike at the end of the week.

I think it was manually applied but I wasn't paying much attention. I was actually waiting for him to tell me I couldn't use it as the bike was already in the sales. The receipt just says coupons £45, I think its luck of who serves you as I tried to use the BC discount in the same branch on a helmet and they wouldn't accept it against the web price (not web exclusive) at the main till. This time I was served by the guy who assembled the bike and paid in the bike area.

Total paid £353.74

Do you need a company name to order the vouchers ?
I have registered but the address page asks for a company name. ( required field )
I have tried twice with 2 different payment cards and both transactions have been cancelled on the Halfords business site after the payment looked to go ok.

I used NRTSCHAL13.

16 Nov 14 #517
So did you only buy vouchers after finding out the final price in store or did you buy them in advance? My concern is being up a certain alley due to the non-refundable vouchers if the bike isn't suitable, or if they don't accept the BC stacked discount for some reason.
timboellis
16 Nov 14 #516
That's what I did On my Boardman for £650

Ordered it online when they had 10% discount on boardmans taking £65 off
Then put in the 10% code active at the time taking another £58 off making it £526

When I was due to pick up in store with the BC membership for a further 10% of making a total of £473

So bought £480 of vouchers for £432

All was accepted in store no issues at all

Anyone used the BC discount in conjunction with store discounts e.g. the current "Spend & Save"?

I was thinking the whole discount process through and assuming the Halfords vouchers are non-refundable, it would make sense to use Click & Collect to reserve or order in a bike and then go to the store when the bike was available just in case there was a problem with the bike (e.g. fit), and also to check if the BC discount was applicable. Then you would know the correct value of vouchers to order.

Anyone see any problems with this?

Means cant be used to buy gift vouchers. Vouchers are like cash to halfords, so you can still use them to pay when using your BC membership card.

Just spent this week reading this thread which has been very useful. After purchasing a BC membership this week I purchased a kids bike online with a 10% voucher. I then picked it up from my local halfords and didn't have any problems using the BC membership. I didn't purchase any halford vouchers but I plan to at the end of the year once I get a bike of my own. All in all I saves 20% plus cash back from quidco which makes me happy. Also for information I noticed my local halfords was doing 10% off all boardman bikes this weekend. This offer isn't on halfords website so not sure whether it's national.

Worked today for me on a Voodoo bike.

Sales guy had never seen a British cycling card so had to call the manager up. I thought here we go, especially with 5 people now queued behind me. But the manager just stuck it through and threw the vouchers in the draw.

£120 saved.

Thanks very much for posting this

Set the ball rolling today by ordering a British Cycling fan card (£18) & Halford vouchers with the 10% off code.

I got 3.15% Top Cash Back
I bought it using vouchers from Halfords services using promo code for 10% off
I got 10% off in store using the British Cycle Membership
Then I will get £50 Cash Back from TomTom on there cashback promotion.
This is called voucher stacking, where you stack one voucher on top of another and another and another...

When you say 'generic discount code' does that include 'Web Exclusive' discounts like they currently have on Sat Nav's - 'spend £200, save £20'? Yes
Could you provide a link where it states in their T&C's about discount stacking, I can't find it. Toyota and BC card terms and conditions, please look at their pages.

Gift vouchers you buy from select.halfordsbusinessservices are treated as cash in store, there are NO restrictions.
What staff would say you can't use to BUY gift vouchers (Halfords, iTunes etc) in store with the discount given by Toyota or BC membership card.
Staff should refuse to apply Toyota/BC card discount for reserved to collect items if there was generic discount code used at that time (for example 10% off all mountain bikes promo), it is in t&c's. But not all staff are bothered to check and often let discount stacking.

I rang a couple of local stores and asked them about using the Toyota discount card with the gift vouchers but neither of them had heard of the Toyota card. I've sent an email to Halfords customer services but I'm thinking it's not worth the risk of wasting £15.95 on a membership, the discount would be £17 after subtracting the £15.95.

You are wrong. Halford stores sell same gift vouchers and you can't buy them with Toyota discount or BC card. This was discussed already. You can read this as "Excludes in store purchases of Halfords gift vouchers, gift cards or Halfords Cycle2Work scheme"
Emeye
30 Aug 14 #489
Am I correct in my understanding that you cannot use the Toyota discount code if paying by vouchers, therefore I cannot take advantage of buying the Gift vouchers at a discount?

This is from the Toyota club T&Cs
Toyota Owners Club Premium Members now receive their very own exclusive Halfords Discount Card allowing you to get 15% off in store! This is on top of any other promotions the store may be running. Simply present your discount card at the checkout before you pay to have your discount applied.
Excludes bikes but you will still receive a 10% discount on bikes.
Cannot be used online or at Halfords Autocentres.
Discount cannot be exchanged for cash or gift vouchers.
Cannot be used in conjunction with Halfords gift vouchers, gift cards or Halfords Cycle2Work scheme.

Vouchers ordered last Wednesday, they arrived Friday......postie didn't bother with getting them signed for though, just put through door!

Picked up the bike Friday evening with no problems handing over x27 £20.00 vouchers...lol (I had already added some extras i.e. spd's, etc)

So in the end the bike was originally £599 - 10% store discount, then 10% off vouchers and another £30.00 as they messed me about for a week = £456.00! Happy days! I know I could have saved a bit more but I was very happy with the final deal.

Went out for a 30 mile cross country ride yesterday, the bike was even better than expected although rocky descents and singletrack are quite challenging but overall it's so much quicker than the hardtail mtb! I have to say I love the CX Comp!

My thanks again to all involved in sharing these great savings! :-)

Just ordered some vouchers as I have a Boardman Comp CX on the way.....hopefully! I paid with my Barclaycard and surprise, surprise they text me a fraud message, just had to confirm by text it was me making the payment but suggested I check the payment went through. Phoned to check and all is well, although the vouchers might take two or three days to arrive so hoping I have them for Saturday at the latest! A £600 bike for £486, 10% in store plus saving with vouchers.....I'm happy with that!

Assuming the bike actually materialises as I ordered last Thurs, was meant to be ready Fri PM, so I arrive to collect...."sorry sir it's not ready..." okay I'll come back midday sat "yes fine sir".......get dropped off at the store ready to go straight out on it...."ooh sir we can't find your bike....".....err what?? "yes, it's not here..."...and then the manager tells me he's mostly concerned he has a £600 bike missing not that I have been messed around! I'm sure not all Halfords are like this but this is the first time I've bought from them and I'm not too impressed.....as a goodwill gesture he's giving me £30 of free accessories.

Ah well, should be good once I get it! And my thanks senukas for the info, very much appreciated as a further £54 saving is great! Top shout! :-)

Ordered vouchers using Barclaycard - asked to enter further security details using 'Verified by Visa', which is quite normal. Then receive telephone calls and texts to mobile, asking me to contact Barclaycard by telephone. I did this and transaction went through.

Complained to Barclaycard online saying that I had already been asked for additional security details using 'Verified by Visa' so why did they need further confirmation. Received reply "In view of your experience and being a valued Barclaycard customer I am pleased to inform you that I have credited your Barclaycard account with £30 for the inconvenience caused. You will be able to view this credit online after 48 working hours and on your next monthly statement."

Result - a further £30 off the cost of the bike!

Barclaycard is a nightmare, got rid of mine five years ago due to similar issues - got my card blocked altogether for online purchase!!! I spent two hours on the phone and they wouldn't confirm my identity, then was told to go to Barclays branch with passports, bills etc to confirm it. It took branch manager 45 min to persuade them and confirm that me IS me. After this I told them to stick their service up theirs and NEVER looked back.
M&S card is similar - will block anything outside M&S transactions not only abroad but in UK too... OH was left furious couple of time already, card was cancelled two times this year already, they don't even bother to call and check.
Heard HSBC is not far away with their "risk management" either.

Will agree with markross - Tesco works everywhere, never had an issue - here or abroad...

To advise - ring Barclaycard again and ask to speak to management regarding total failure to let transaction go through.
markross
7 Jul 14 #433

I just phoned the branch and they said that they can't offer 10% off to online offers (i.e. the 10% off flash sale they have now until 2pm). I'm just going to use the vouchers and quidco on top of the halfords online discount to purchase a bike, it'll save me about £15 from buying a BC membership.

The official terms of the BC discount are that it can't be used with "online only" offers, so they might refuse. I guess it just depends on how lucky you are.

Yes thanks.

The OP needs updated with some advice. It is posted a few times in here but its not easy to find.
If you order the vouchers and your bank doesn't accept the payment (very common) do not try again within the hour or Halfords flag your account which it appears takes 48 hours to fix. IF you try once and its rejected. Phone your bank and tell them the purchase is fine then wait a couple of hours before trying again.

Someone was asking about the vouchers - anyone can use them. Just standard vouchers.
Njay
28 Jun 14 #420
Good deal for those who don't have access to cycle2work.info scheme. That can net over 46% off as scheme offers up to 42% (top rate tax payer) off the cost and its possible to get 10% off the bike hire in the first place. Yes you don't own it but 5/6yrs means bike is worth nothing so written off and option to transfer (normally).

Good piece of advice, thanks. This method will work with any in store promotion/discount/sale/reduction/clearance.
But I would be cautious with web store only discounts (like recent 10% discount on bikes) when using R&C. People reported that they were not allowed to combine it with BC discount when paying for the order in store.

The Halfords I went to seemed fully clued up about what I was doing - the manager noticed me paying with vouchers and commented that he'd bet I'd got them with 10% off as well. So I'm not sure if they've officially stopped people applying both discounts. The BC website says it only excludes web only offers, and this was an in store offer so I guess that was the reason I got it.

If you combine Halfords 10% events with gift vouchers and reserve&collect with quidco/tbc then you don't need BC membership. From what I understand Halfords are stopping people applying both online discount and BC discount but there are still lucky "escapes" like markrosss in above post.

Would this be worth my while if buying a £229 bike ? I think I save just over £50 at 22%.

...but after spending £20 on the Bronze pack, would that only result in a £30 saving ?

I noticed the bikes generally go down to £180 at some point in the future that's all.

Just got a Boardman Team CX bike. Original price was £899 but with 10% off in store, plus the vouchers, plus British Cycling discount (which they gave me) I've paid approx £656. Hopefully should get 3% Quidco as well!

Thinking about it the difference with cash is that they do have to scan each voucher individually, and depending on the purchase price and the fact that each voucher is shown on your receipt, it may mean that the receipt could be at least a foot long. One of mine was nearly two feet.

[quote=omikron]Hi folks, thinking of getting a bike something from Halfords and I found this page.

If I'm reading this right, the idea is to purchase the vouchers from select.halfordsbusinessservices.co.uk/ equal or as close to the amount of the bike, and to use one of the three codes to apply a 10% discount on the vouchers. I should then go ahead and reserve a bike from the halfords, and take the vouchers in to pay for it when collecting.

I have purchased two bikes from Halfords and saved loads of money thanks to this thread. I can confirm that the vouchers are treated exactly the same as cash, you won't have to prove how you purchased them or show ID or anything, I am sure your local Halfords are just happy with the sale to boost their figures.

I hope this helps.

Is there any issues with paying with the vouchers instore, as in they can only be used by certain people? Or are they just treated as typical gift vouchers, like in other stores?

When buying the Vouchers off of Halfords website with the discount code ELGHAL13, I get to payment stage, put in Credit card details, press continue and a little pop up comes up saying 'Loading next step' for a couple of seconds and then nothing happens, no matter how many times I press or what CC I use.
Anyone else having this trouble or know what Im doing wrong?

As I wrote several times before - wait at least 30 mimute before trying again. Bank systems need to be updated and it takes time. Very happy thanks to all.

Hi,

Went to Halfords just with BC membership and they gave me BC 10% discount in the end (they were asking each other how to proceed with this).
So I bought a bike of £250 for just £205 as I saved 10% (£25) with BC membership and £20 for buying vouchers worth £200 for which I paid just £180 (used code ELGHAL13).

Thanks, and happy shopping to everyone

They are speaking bullsh*t. As long as you got emailed your membership details after calling British Cycling phone number then that is valid. I asked three stores and all staff said they would accept that.
The store I actually used it in had a old BC voucher code in a staff-till book that they referred to.

I think it's fairly new. The guy in Halfords the other day mentioned me showing a voucher, but then quickly corrected himself, saying i just need to show my membership card now. From that I take it it's a change that's happened very recently. Stick to your guns.

Hello,

I went today to Halfords and a employee there said she cannot offer 10% BC discount unless I get a printable voucher from BC.
I went on BC website and it says "Simply present your valid British Cycling membership card at the till when you make your purchase to obtain a 10% discount." and they don't offer printable vouchers.

So basically I can't use the 10% so far... I'll try to speak again to BC & Halfords but doesn't seem very pleasant.

Thanks to the OP - I made a great saving on a couple of bikes today.

FYI, here's my breakdown and current discount codes.

British Cycling membership
Bronze Membership, Senior Rider £20.00
Promotional Code (CYCLESCH 5.33 discount) £-5.33
Total (including introductory discount) £13.20
Call the British cycling contact number and they will email you proof of membership. Print and take to Halfords for 10% off.

*I think this is expired now* 10% off all Bikes Voucher discount code on Halfords website. Use reserve and collect service.
B14BK04

Use Quidco. I got £24.27 cashback.
Bought £840 worth of gift vouchers for £756 via select.halfordsbusinessservices.co.uk with discount code NRTSCHAL13 (Saving = £84.00).

Halfords have a 3 for 2 (cheapest item free) on cycle accessories at the moment too. So I stocked up on a couple of lids, pump, etc.

In summary I got a couple of new bikes for £642 instead of £900

Cheers!

Anyone know if Halfords are going to have any more offers on bikes in the next week or two? There have been a few recently, but none at the moment. Really want a 10% off all bikes or something along those lines, that I can combine with the voucher and BC discounts again.

Well. They they tried to say no to the BC discount. They said, as of start of April the terms had changed and it 100% cannot be stacked against other online discounts like the £60 off £600 spend that just finished.

Anyway. They quickly changed their minds when I said I wouldn't take the bike

Also, the cheap £1 set of lights that I reserved to take my spend to £600, werent on stock. So they gave me a £25 set instead!

That's about £625 worth of kit for about £420.
Cheers again Senukas.

3 Apr 14 #353
Thanks. I am just not sure of the £60 off a £600 spend will be classed as a web exclusive? And was a bit confused that BC don't give you a voucher any more, you just present the card.

Will let people know. I guess if I go in and they say no to the BCdiscount, I call their bluff and cancel the order. That might change their mind.
senukas
3 Apr 14 #352
This point was already discussed - in short you will be fine and 10% BC will go on top of other discounts. If it is web exclusive and home delivery only item then BC discount won't apply.
And please share your experience later on

2 Apr 14 #351
This is brilliant. Thanks OP.

One possible issue (or not). I have become a member of British Cycling. I logged into my account expecting there to be a downloadable discount voucher. But, it just says....

How to get your discount:
Simply present your valid British Cycling membership card at the till when you make your purchase to obtain a 10% discount.
Please note: this discount is only available in store. You can reserve products online then receive the discount when you collect and pay in store - presenting your British Cycling membership card. If there is a special online price, unfortunately the discount cannot be applied on top in store. Excludes all website only prices and deals.
If you haven’t received your membership card yet, call the membership team on 0161 274 2010 for an e-mailed copy.

....that's fine, I can get them to email me my card, but the terms seem slightly different to those mentioned in this thread. I had the £60 off a £600 cycling spend automatically added to my order (offer ends tonight). Does that mean Halfords will refuse the BC 10% as I have already had that discount?

Hmm - I'm not sure if those posts apply to my situation. It actually sat on the spinning progress thing for ages - so long, in fact that I refreshed the page whereupon the sale got added to my order history but with "pending payment" - so does that mean it's been declined, or that it's doing its normal thing? I've not had a specific 'blocked' message, but then I'm not sure if I should have done, or if I would had the page loaded properly during the sale.

Have you got a contact number for them so I can check?

If your card was not blocked by the issuer (happens a lot with this retailer) you will get vouchers next working day by RM Special delivery. Otherwise see post 348

Have noticed that Halfords have £20 off a £200 spend at the moment. With the vouchers thing that makes it £162 for a £200 bike... hot! It also means you get a similar deal to the bike trade in thing, without having to trade in a bike.

I've bought the vouchers online and it's currently "pending payment"... is that normal and how long does it take to clear? Will I get my vouchers next day if ordering around 4PM or will it be later in the week?

Managed to bag myself a Boardman Hybrid Team from the Boardman clearance for only £421.20 instead of £599.99 using all discounts available on this thread.
Price of bike £599.99
10% off online code(now expired) £540
10% off British Cycling voucher £486
10% off gift vouchers £437.40
£16.20 from Quidco £421.20

Had to wait 3 weeks for another bike from another store because the original one was damaged when I went to collect it. For the inconvenience I was offered some free accessories so also managed to get £50 worth of lights and they also fitted the bike with a Lizard Skin chain protector. Love a good deal. A big thank you to senukas and all the helpful posts in this thread. The clarks hydraulic brakes are quite poor on the kraken (same as what was on my Vulcan) and would possibly need replacing sooner rather than later.

Hi guys, any thoughts on which is the better bike overall: The carrera kraken or the voodoo hoodoo? Both are currently £449.99 at the moment, the hoodoo has got a 10% off so is normally £499.99. Both come down to £410 with the spend the save.

Links to both bikes:

Hoodoo: halfords.com/web…499

Kraken: halfords.com/web…499

Spec wise both seem similar. Guy in Halfords suggested the Hoodoo is the better bike, but the overall review scores say otherwise? I'm aware the Hoodoo has been downspecced since the previous year..

Thanks for any help

It refers to the fact that you can't use BC discount to buy Halfords (and other companies) gift vouchers in-store. The questions was discussed in previous posts, no need to be nervous

I've just printed off the 10% BC voucher and noticed it said in the small print "Cannot be used in conjunction with Halfords & third party vouchers" ?

Just to add to this, if your card doesn't go through the first time unblock it with the bank then wait like senukas mentioned, I tried again straight away a few more times and Halfords Business services flagged my card as fraud. I rang up and they said trying within an hour of the first attempt caused this.
Because I had attempted mine a few times it was actually fully blocked which apparently can take days to work again, I ended up having to use another card on a separate account and separate IP address as I was told any of these things could link back to the account flagged as fraud.

Unfortunately it is quite common problem with the gift voucher provider - if your transaction is rejected please ring your card provider so they can remove bar, give 30 minutes and it will go through.

31 Jan 14 #298
Your bank or credit card company is flagging up the transaction as potentially fraudulent, the same thing happened to me with Barclaycard. I phoned them straight up and after a few security questions they cleared the alert and I was able to purchase the vouchers.

Hope this helps.

I've just tried three times to order £400 of vouchers via Halfords Business services (using each of the discount codes shown to get 10% off.) The discount appears fine on screen but when I come to finally checkout via credit card it just comes back with an "Order Cancelled" message. I'd already registered previously and logged in fine. Any ideas as to the reason for failure anyone?

Picked up a Boardman CX Comp with just over 25% off. Very easy once you put all the pieces in place. No issues with stacking Halfords £60 off £600 (add something small to cover the extra penny!), British Cycling discount and the 10% off vouchers.

Thanks to the OP.

I very recently bought a Voodoo Bizango using this, actually reserved the bike at £599, got £40 off due to an online offer, then used my british cycling memberhsip 10% discount coupon and paid with the halfords vouchers I got at 10% off too. I hadn't realised but if I'd spent £1 more I would have saved £60.

Total price £452. If you include the cost of British Cycling membership then it's £472 but I will easily get my moneys worth out of the halfords voucher as I buy a few bits and pieces from Halfords throughout the year.

All in I bought

Bike
2 tubes
shock pump
4 water bottles
chain oil/grease
gt85 ptfe spray

total price £650 give or take a few pennies

Total actual paid - £498.

Thanks to the OP!!

You only buy the vouchers through an employee scheme. The vouchers that arrive will be the same as the ones anyone can buy instore as gifts. Don't worry, the staff don't care where they came from as long as the bike is paid for. Good tip to go close to closing time to use your british cycling on top of any other discounts as the staff don't want the hassle of refusing it and just want to go home on time.

No, i didn't anyway. The guy asked if it was a bike to work scheme bike, so maybe the vouchers are used to get a bike on that scheme to. At the end of the day its a legit scheme put in place as an employee benefit by certain companies, so a lot of people must do it.

No no, they will accept British Cycling . I tried to use my British Cycling when stacked up with everything else , but when they said no I told them I only had enough funds to pay with the discount also taken into consideration . Surely enough they obliged. Didn't want to lose the sale I guess. Don't take no for an answer.
£500 - £40 Halfords offer =£440 (need to spend £600 to get £60 off)
£440 - 10% British cycling =£396
£396 (order this much in vouchers) - 10% vouchers discount = £356.40 (this is what you pay)
£356.40 - 11.80 Quidco = £344.52
Think this is the correct calculation.
Good luck.

Try to copy and paste the word COUNCIL 2 for your discount at British Cycling. Worked for me.

Thanks soo much for the info on this thread, I have just managed to buy a brand new boardman mtb fs 2014 at a bargain price...

Original price £1599.99

I found the online 10% off code B14BK01 and did click and collect in store. £1439.99

I then got the bronze BC membership (£9 with a code 'COUNCIL2' and direct debit discount) and took the 10% voucher with me which was taken off instore. 1295.99.

I paid for the bike with the gift vouchers which I bought from select.halfordsbusinessservices.co.uk with the code 'NRTSCHAL13' giving me another 10% off. Making payment through the site is tricky tho due to the security checks by your bank, so make an account and try to purchase ONCE ONLY (trying more than once may activate the site to block your card too which is almost impossible to overcome) if it doesn't go through you will have to ring up your bank to allow payments to this company, then try again once cleared, it should then go throughout hour a problem. 1166.39

So that's £433.60 or 27.1% off a brand new 2014 model!!! AND to add to it I managed to blag a years free maintenance plan too! A very happy guy! Thanks again for the info!

I was Lucky, I went into Halfords in Sheffield and they had a medium. I could only find mountain, hybrid and road bikes online and I wanted the Hybrid Team to go with my road bike but in the end CX just seemed the better option. Go into your nearest Halfords and they can check stock for you from other branches, I think there might be a number online which you can use.

Got a Boardman CX Team 2013 model.

Orig Price: £899.99

20% off "End Of Season" Deal: £719

10% BC Discount: £647

10% Voucher Discount through work:£ 582

They also priced matched a helmet for me with their internet price and allowed me to use the BC discount on that. So happy with that. Could not use Quidco as Halfords website showed they were out of stock.

Thanks to the people on this website as I did not know about the BC discount

Thanks so much to the OP and everyone on this thread that has offered advice on this deal. I've just picked up my branding spanking new Boardman Hybrid Team from Halfords.

Orig Price: £750

20% off "End Of Season" Deal: £600

10% BC Discount: £540

10% Voucher Discount Via Lotus Enthusiast Website: £486

3% Quidco Cashback (£18) - I reserved via click and collect: TOTAL PRICE PAID: £468

To say I am happy with the deal is a massive understatement! :stuck_out_tongue:

No quibbles at all in my local Halfords (Maidstone) when I presented my BC voucher. They didn't even ask to see my membership card. The guy was even apologetic when he said he'd need to count my Halfords vouchers - they were in £10 denominations, so a massive wad.

Happy Days!

Ok so eventually found one.... However went to pick it up and it was faulty to. Steering bearing I think. It's almost like there aren't any in there as the whole steering column thing moves when you brake. However the British cycling discount was applied ok so I got the full discount. I'm just waiting for them to fix it now. Should hear back tomorrow.

It doesn't bode well for there reputation of being a bit shoddy when it comes to bike checking and building. I was told it had a full check today but it's clear it hadn't had even the most basic of checks. Now been offered an accessory of choice on top due to my inconvenience. Maybe a nice lock will be brought home tomorrow also. We shall see.

Yup i will do:)

The british cycling discount does say "Even sale items" from what i remember. However it states that you cant use it agaisnt web only deals, which are never specifically stated so you have no idea what is a web only deal without venturing to the shop to compare prices.

Anyone know if the Boardman clearance deal was on "in store"? Boardman comp was £519 on the website but never got to see any in store to check if it was the same.

Thanks senukas. Just picked up a Carrera Zelos Limited Edition Xmas and Elite Cycle Trainer for about £280! 13 Jan 14 #238
You can always try...
Discounted gift vouchers and Quidco/TBC is already giving nice additional discount on sale bikes. Just consider 10% BC card discount as possible addition... As you can see some people managed to stack all discounts, some did need to come back and talk to different advisor before getting what they wanted....

Thanks for drawing attention to that, may have to think before I order next week! This was alluded to in post 201.

What's the likelihood of Halfords having a significant bike discount in the last week of January like they have for the last couple of years?

24.01.13 - 04.02.13 Spend £100 on Bikes & Accessories and Save £10
24.01.13 - 04.02.13 Spend £200 on Bikes & Accessories and Save £20
24.01.13 - 04.02.13 Spend £400 on Bikes & Accessories and Save £40
24.01.13 - 04.02.13 Spend £600 on Bikes & Accessories and Save £60

26.01.12 - 01.02.12 Spend £100 on Bikes & Bike Accessories save £10
26.01.12 - 01.02.12 Spend £150 on Bikes & Bike Accessories save £15
26.01.12 - 01.02.12 Spend £200 on Bikes & Bike Accessories save £25
26.01.12 - 01.02.12 Spend £400 on Bikes & Bike Accessories save £60

(I assume these were in-store as well as online).

I'm ready to buy myself a new bike using this deal, but I'm tempted to hold out and wait for that extra bit. Against this there's a risk that one of the other discounts will go stop in the meantime. I need the following planets to line up:
1. End of January discount to happen - else I'll have just waited for nothing
2. Enough notice of the offer to order the bike, get the vouchers and collect before the offer ends.
3. Bike to be in stock at one of my local Halfords to order Click and Collect (mainly to get Topcashback but also to allow time for the vouchers to arrive before pick-up)
4. Valid voucher code available for Halfords for Business Select at the time.
5. Valid voucher from British Cycling. The current one ends at the end of the month, when do they tend to issue new ones?
6. Halfords to honour stacking all of the above.

Cheers senukas,I have just tried from a different PC and it is working.

I tried from my home PC this morning using chrome and Internet Explorer also using my Nexus7 and couldn't get on to the Halfords Business services site. out of curiosity will try again when I get home later to see if indeed the site was down when I first tried.

On hold means that your credit card company has blocked the transaction as potentially fraudulent. You need to contact your cc co and get them to unblock transactions tor BUYVOUCHERS.NET then you need to do whole transaction again from scratch. You need to wait a couple of hours or so after your original attempt or the voucher site will block the transaction!

How is everyone combining web exclusive deals with vouchers? I ordered a £23.99 helmet for click and collect and when I showed them my British Cycling 10% voucher they looked up the item on the system which popped up an instore price £59.99, they said I can only redeem the voucher on the instore price and not the £23.99 web price I had reserved the item on. Thank you op, worked at the weekend ordered vouchers Sunday came Tuesday via special delivery. In total saved around 30% off full price. Used Current web deal spend and save, as bike was 1p under I added another spend and save item to qualify for the extra £10 off. When through quidco for cash back. Also had the 2 hour deal last week for another extra 10% off everything and then 10% off vouchers in payment. Although silly of me I did slip up and only ordered £20 and not £1 which I should have done. Anyhow good saving

When I used to work in Sainsburys we had two types of gift vouchers. The ones sold instore and the ones sold through corporate schemes (Some people got them instead of percentages of wages or something like that).

The ones sold instore had an R in the code for retail and the others had C for corporate.

We weren't supposed to give change on the corporate ones as they would have been sold at a reduced rate. But most people didn't know, notice or care and so gave them the change.

So maybe thereis a similar thing for these Halfords vouchers that lets them know they have been bought at a discounted rate but again shop staff are either unaware of the rules or couldn't care less.

When you get the confirmation after ordering it says the bike will be built and ready by 4pm in a couple of days and they will hold it for a further 7 days
Phone the store and ask for another date - before they have built it
They are usually pretty good and will do it if you go in and pay a deposit (£10)
Worth remembering that they are flat out at the moment as we get nearer Christmas
An offer to collect after Christmas might be accepted but you will probably need to offer a larger deposit to swing it
jay1
10 Dec 13 #211
Can you choose a collection date because when I go to reserve it, it says it is available to collect in 2 days?
rnhodgson
10 Dec 13 #210
Yes you can
The Carrera was web exclusive - extra £30 off before I started loading up
The Voodoo was even more of a special - web exclusive for 2 hours, 12 til 2 today, Hafords had spend and save offer AND an additional 10% off!
The bike was £599.99 so to get the £60 off I added some brake cable end covers fo 99p (don't need them but without them discount would have been £40)
Then 10% web exclusive discount on top
Then British Cycling, then vouchers

My daughter went on an educational visit to the hospital and got a Halfords paper voucher for 20% off any cycle helmet, I think this is the kind of voucher that cannot be used with BS discount
Incidentally, you can buy gift CARDS in branch with vouchers and load them up to any value up to £1000

Please bear in mind when arranging your collection that Halfords have been known to start a year end sale on Christmas Eve on line

Halfords should honour any reduction within 7 days of purchase and if you are still waiting to collect your reservation they will adjust it to reflect the cheaper price - but only if you ask them!
The Voodoo is being collected 29/12 so I am holding a fantastic deal safe in the knowledge that if the price drops even further on Boxing Day I will get that price!

DON'T WORRY
I have just successfully stacked discounts on a Carrera bike and paid in store today
Bike was a flash deal on line
I also used a 10% off discount code for all bikes obtained from Quidco
The 10% British Cycling discount was applied in store
Paid with vouchers bought at 10% discount
Also just reserved a Voodoo Bizango at another store with some very tasty on line flash discounts and they confirmed no problem with British Cycling discount there either
Aspullite
2 Dec 13 #206
I know people have used stacking, I was pointing out that it looks like that aspect of the deal has changed. I agree that there is still a good saving to be made so thank you for posting it initially as I, for one, would definitely not have known about it.
senukas
2 Dec 13 #205
People have reported successfully completing full code stacking (10% Halfords national weekend discount + 10% BC discount + 10% off gift vouchers + quidco/tcb) and you can always try but even without 10% discount days this makes a healthy saving for less than 30 minute work...
‌ :sunglasses:
Aspullite
2 Dec 13 #204
Ah, ok, i hope that's the case and I'm wrong. It's a shame they have stopped people using the BC discount on top of their 10% off promotions (thats what it looks like anyway).

I only joined to post the change in the BC discount terms as I know some people on here have used it in conjunction with Halfords 10% off promotions (which i was going to do)
senukas
2 Dec 13 #203
Well said, you can't use BC discount to buy gift vouchers in the store but it is NOT preventing you to obtain the discount for other goods and pay in Halfords gift vouchers.
bookworm1632
2 Dec 13 #202
Yes, they look like they're stopping stacking on top of existing Halford's promotions - how that is interpreted remains to be seen.

BUT when it says "Cannot be used in conjunction with Halfords and Third Party vouchers" it doesn't mean gift vouchers. It means other discount vouchers.
senukas
1 Dec 13 #200
Wrong... Members of British Cycling can save 10% off everything at Halfords (excluding gift vouchers) to spend on any products in store, including sale items.
Aspullite
1 Dec 13 #201
The new voucher dated 1st December to Janury 31st says, and I quote, 4. Cannot be used in conjunction with Halfords and Third Party vouchers, C2W scheme vouchers and additional promotional discounts.
To me that sound like use the halfords vouchers or use the British cycling voucher but not both together.
Aspullite
1 Dec 13 #199
The British Cycling Voucher has changed its terms now, it says it cannot be used in conjunction with Halfords vouchers, Third party vouchers, C2W scheme vouchers and other promotional discounts. It looks like they have cottoned on to the stacking that was going on, i'm gutted because i have 800 quids worth of Halfords vouchers which i was going to use with the British Cycling one when the bike i want comes back into stock.

Try to use Internet Explorer when placing your order or simply give them a ring and put order over the phone. You would need to quote discount scheme code to obtain the discount...

select.halfordsbusinessservices.co.uk is working fine and is designed for special discount schemes Halfords offers. It is not over.
Now as your order is in Processing state you will get it next working day, I can assure you of this. Btw all my gift voucher orders are in the same state even after delivery...

Also try to use Internet Explorer and not Chrome/Firefox as it seems the site likes it better...

Can't comment on Halfords promotions...
As for gift voucher value for a £700 bike just work this way:
£700 x 0.9 = £630 to pay in gift vouchers
£630 x 0.9 = £567 that's what you would pay for the gift vouchers
You can always add cash/card on top of gift vouchers when paying in store.
I hope this helps

So another 10% taken off. I have paid in full but manager happy to refund when I collect so I can pay again with 10% discounted gift vouchers! So all in all a 650 bike for about 420! Thanks for giving the heads up.

just been in scarborough branch - they are happy to apply BC discount of 10% deal on top of the !0% off deal running until monday 7/10/13.

E.g Boardman MTB Comp

Normal price = £649
10% discount due to new model give current reserve and collect in store price = £584.99
extra 10% this weekend = £526.49
BC discount 10% = £474.34
If paid will vouchers (bought at 10% off) then actual cost is £426.91
3% cashback (quidco) saves additional £12.80.
final cost is then £414.11 which is pretty good for a bike like than isn't it :stuck_out_tongue:

Get into your "HUKD mode" and insist on applying point 4 from the BC voucher
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-2Wrm6-flwnY/Uk_ot5hrczI/AAAAAAAAALI/R6PWN9Xws5M/s912/Halfords-VOUCHER-1st-Oct%2520%25281%2529.jpg
The terms are open to interpretation (from BC site)
How to get your discount:
You need to print off the below voucher and take it into your local Halfords store. You will need to take your British Cycling membership card with you to validate the voucher.
The Halfords discount is only available in store. You can reserve products online and collect in store with your printed voucher and membership card. If there is a special online price, unfortunately the discount cannot be applied on top in store. Excludes all website only prices and deals.

Fair enough, if you can't reserve the item for store pick up, then combined BC and gift voucher method does not apply. Otherwise I insist to honour it as their stores are price matching web deals. If it is national store discount day then they have no right to refuse BC discount.
clearchalk
5 Oct 13 #163
Does say on the British Cycling website "This offer is only available in store. Excludes all website only prices and deals.", so Halfords would be in their rights to refuse this discount.
senukas
5 Oct 13 #162
Ask for a manager if shop assistants refuse to accept discount. Ask to provide with full T&C's. BC discount is on top of all promotions. Maybe it just me but I haven't seen anything preventing me to reserve item for store pick up and pay then and there and apply BC voucher.

CS13 (cycle scheme) also provides £4.67 off though Cycle Scheme

You can't use BC membership to reduce the amount you pay for the gift vouchers. Membership gives further 10% only for in-store purchases and you need to print discount voucher from BC members pages. It takes about 10 days to receive BC card by post but you can call their CS and ask to send copy by email and use that in the store (if asked).

Hmm - I'm getting a Voodoo Hoodoo which online is £450, £500 in store. Bit worried about the British Cycling Discount: Quote from http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/membership/article/halfords-discounts: "Excludes all website only prices and deals."

So technically, they shouldn't honour it with an online only price. We'll have to see what they do.

I used quidco 4% (says its tracked) reserve and pickup instore. British cycling 10% discount with bronze membership (£9.33 or so) and 10% Halfords Vouchers. This is a fantastic bit of discounting and I am definitely going to use the above method to get my next bike.

But, and I feel like the mathmatics police now, when you stack all the discounts (10% online, 10% BC, 10% gift vouchers and 3% quidco) it is not the same as getting 33% off the original price. It is slightly less than 30% which of course is still amazing.

Nah, that's rubbish... I bought a Boardman the week before last. They had 10% off online so I did reserve and collect. When they had built it, I used my 10% british cycling and £450 worth of gift vouchers (that I had used the above to pay less for. I bought at Gosport Store.

13 Aug 13 #104
I went and called customer services to check it out. The 10% british code cannot be used on top of online web discounted prices. i.e The bike i was looking at was a lot cheaper on buy and collect compared with the in store price. Then using the 10% off the web price it came down a nice bit more. From speaking to the chap on the phone he said the 10% offer is only on instore prices which may or may not be on sale etc.

Hi, i have been trying to order the vouchers at select.halfordsbusinessservices.co.uk/ and i cannot get any of the codes to work. I have registered and logged into the site. Can anyone confirm they still work for me?

Thanks in advance

juliemcd26
11 Aug 13 #94
I was in Halfords today and currently await my halfords vouchers to arrive to take advantage of this deal. However, from speaking to the sales guy he said there was no way they would allow another voucher to be used to take 10% off the bike for the membership voucher. I mentioned other people had used it along with the web discount and 10% off code and he said only an idiot would accept this extra voucher. I've checked the voucher small print and it states it can be used on top of other sales offers so he shouldn't be able to decline it or can he? I'd be disappointed not to get use of it down to some stubborn sales guy in the branch I have near me.

10 Aug 13 #89
hmm, the item doesn't have reserve and collect option, but it's only order and collect which requires credit card payment through website. So, if i get to the local halford, the payment is already cleared through my credit so I am wondering if it's fine to ask to cancel the existing order, then rebuy through gift voucher by applying 10% BC off.
senukas
10 Aug 13 #88
If you make an order and pay instore there is no reason why Halfords would not take gift vouchers. As for 10% BC discount - just give it a try, I suppose such transaction could be treated the same as all other store purchases.
thomastick
10 Aug 13 #87
I'd ring the online helpdesk and ask them. They may be able to complete the order for you. Good luck
n765321
10 Aug 13 #86
I have a question. The item which I want to buy doesn't offer reserve and collect. Instead, I can order and collect from local Hafords. This means I need to buy it now with credit card. So, there's no time to use 10% off BC voucher and I cannot use gift voucher which is purchased at 10% off price. Is there other way? Perhaps, when I collect the item, ask them to cancel the credit card purchase, but honour the same price on website with 10% off BC voucher and pay it with gift voucher?

I used this earlier in the year to buy a Boardman CX team - came in at £700 at the time (I think it's gone up £50 since), which is so much cheaper than competitors it's ridiculous.

I am on my way to collect my bike on Friday. missed out on quidco as there aas no option to collect bug pay online only. so went to the store ordered it there and then as carrera subway 2013 was out of stock. Got the halford voucher and BC 10 percent of course on hand. so not 199.99 but carrera will cost me 162. well BC membership costed me 9 quids which you can add to bike price if you like. So overall I appreciate and salute the deal poster. voted hot now after getting all these done as wanted to make sure that it works.

The 15% is from the facebook competition. Could be less depending which bike wins. The plan isTCB, the Facebook discount, hopefully use British Cycling 10% in store and i've already bought the Halfords vouchers. If it all comes i'll save a 1/3. So we'll know in a couple of weeks or before when the facebook Big Bike Race Finishes :-)

In order to obtain maximum discount you need to make Click and Collect order. You can get their online prices plus standard discounts like your mentioned bank holiday discount or 3for2 offer and Quidco or TCB cashback. When you come to pick up your order, you show them BC card with the printed voucher and staff will take another 10% off. You can pay all this amount in Halfords vouchers then (which you have accidentally bought with 10% discount

Worked perfectly! Shame about the halfords staff, bike was suppose to be ready Friday but wasn't in stock till Monday then when picking up wasn't built!!!

You make a C&C reservation, turn up at the store, show your BC voucher and after they take your discount pay the balance in Halfords vouchers. I have done for three bikes with no questions asked. Even if you don't make reservation, shop staff would price match online price if you ask to do so. BC discount would be applied regardless. I hope it helps.

For people missing something - an example:

Bike price at the store £600
British Cycling membership benefit (10% instore discount) -£60
Vouchers value to buy £540
Discount when buying vouchers (10% of the basket) -£54
Quidco Reserve and collect cashback 3% = -£18
BC membership £15
Total money spent = £483

Calculate the cost of your purchase after the discount and buy Halfords gift vouchers with 10% discount here:

How do you get the 10% off?

I pay £15 for the membership then I get 10% off code and that only makes it total 10% off. Not sure if i missed something.
