I have passed this place often & curiosity/very favourable press reviews got the better of me, so gave it a try.
It was brilliant (deal takes you to one of the newspaper reviews agreeing).
Everything was homemade, & tasted great. Prices listed are for all three courses.

I prefer to eat in places that don't "pay" tax. You don't really think it's them paying the tax do you?
If it bothers you that Starbucks or whoever don't pay a lot of tax in Britain, just send a quid to the treasury every time you buy a coffee (don't worry, they'll take it). That will work out the same as Starbucks charging you more to pay more in tax.

10 May 13#106
I've been in the Two Ways too, it was on an accute corner between Argyle St, & Kent Rd, shaped like the Star Bar, but not quite as angular or nicely curved The Star has a rather spartan bar, but quite a nice lounge, but the Two Ways only had a bar that only lacked sawdust floors when I was there in the 90s. When I passed last it had been renovated & renamed "The Brass Monkey", had seats outside & looked like it had been reintroduced to the current century again.
The Star Bar is purportedly named so, as its at the junction of five streets (although both the centre section at the cross roads, & the end of Maxwell Rd. are now blocked off).
SOME GLASGOW QUESTIONS...
Glasgow also had a "Five Ways" bar, where was it?
Where might you find the Mitre Bar in Glasgow?
Which Glasgow bar has the longest bar in the world (using one of the many criteria) & which band/singers with an association to the bar become famous?
The Two Ways was on Argyle Street, the same one running through the centre of the city's shopping area. How many parts is the original Argyle Street now split into (all retain the original/similar numbering)?
Glasgow has a fairly large art deco cafe contained within another shop (well upstairs) - what does the larger shop sell?

I had my first meal there when it was £1.60 for 3 courses and that must have been about 10 years ago. To have only increased by 90 pence in all that time is amazing and well below the rate of inflation! Maybe the the Star Bar management should take over the country's finances for a bit

Although it's only 90p, that represents a rise of approximately 57% over a decade.

I think that's a bit misleading, or perhaps not telling the full story, because if it goes up 90p every ten years (or 9 pence per year), then in 100 years from now, the 3 course meal will only cost £11.50 - that seems incredibly cheap!

I've eaten at some fancy places before and I've never been to a place as cheap as this but with all the ignorance and snobbery in here, I'm tempted to go in just so I can write a review and show you all that well prepared food is just that.
If you're too rich to want to know about offers that can benefit others less well off as you, perhaps you can try not to rub everyone else's faces in it. Some people live on a whole £45 a week. This meal is still expensive at over one 1/20th of that budget.

Interesting to see the assumption that cheap prices equal poor food - it's about the margin for the business owner and not always the price paid - I guarantee that if some of you scoffing at this saw actual breakdowns of what goes into more expensive takeaway food like Dominos etc then you'd be horrified, I've never been hear but took time to read the review linked to by OP, and they're doing it by using basic ingredients.
Been to Scotland a fair few times, and Glasgow, and I've never experienced any problems, in stark contrsast many of the people living in London seem to assume they are some higher species just because they live in London......

Ive passed it but never been in
The Horseshoe Bar uptown was £1.00 as well.
Not a bad little pub on the Southside.
You can then head up the road to Shawlands and get a pint of Peroni for a fiver.
Only joking
As long as you don't mention football/ religion/ X Factor (or any other reality show) or boast about having two kidneys (we get £900 for them).
You've got to remember we 'invented' the English. We took all our animal lovers & other reprobates - and said you go down there & be English
If it bothers you that Starbucks or whoever don't pay a lot of tax in Britain, just send a quid to the treasury every time you buy a coffee (don't worry, they'll take it). That will work out the same as Starbucks charging you more to pay more in tax.

It's all the same stuff, just a different price tag.
for senior citizens or nearby workers on minimum wage budgets.
What about The Spirit bar at Glasgow Cross? They do a cheapo three course lunch for a similar price. "prepared by chef Frank".

Notice the sign... "3 courses for £2.00".
They must have seen sense and upped it to £2.50... lol
I've been once, approx ten years ago (£1.20 for 3 courses) and it's OK. Soup, macaroni and chips, followed by ice cream if I remember right.
"hawl big man im pure hard"
Not voting on this, but for all the grief people get for posting instore Tesco deals I fail to see why a local pub deal is getting 500+ degrees. My local does £1.78 all draught pints on a Monday and is apparently the best pint in South Birmingham at the moment (I don't drink so can't comment). Is that post worthy?, doubt it........
Bus drivers huh, what low life scum...
I didn't delete it.
For a starter I always kick off with scallops with pea and mint puree then either the steak or the stuffed sea bass in a sea salt crust. For the finisher I usually just wolf down some ice cream .cant argue for 2.50 or 3 bar depending if you upgrade to the steak

He replied they had been forced to serve them, as too many locals were bringing in their own to eat.
Well worth a visit.
4 people 3 course meal for £11.
This is old school glasgow food, stuff your mothers or grandmothers would cook.
Not healthy but so tasty.
The deal is a good one if you want a cheap lunch, end of story.
That is actually well above the rate of inflation - online inflation calculators show £1.60 in 2003 to be equivalent to £2.14 now.
pure gallus
weeji weeji weeji!
If you're too rich to want to know about offers that can benefit others less well off as you, perhaps you can try not to rub everyone else's faces in it. Some people live on a whole £45 a week. This meal is still expensive at over one 1/20th of that budget.
Been to Scotland a fair few times, and Glasgow, and I've never experienced any problems, in stark contrsast many of the people living in London seem to assume they are some higher species just because they live in London......
Glad to see this is still going, hope it is bringing them some extra trade. Brave thing to do, fair play to them.
How come costa charge the same then and they do pay tax? They used a loophole to avoid tax. - that helps to pay for services!
On receiving my pie and chips I was wished good luck as the pie was a bit tough.
Apart from that it was good fun and no dodgy stomachs the next day always a good sign
