Although its a sad story about that child. It's mad to withdraw the product. It is a dangerous product and should be stored and handled correctly and labelled clearly.
Will they withdraw propane gas next time a child burns themself in a gas hob?

Good call. All this talk about the product being withdrawn because a child was hurt - the UK press make this sort of thing happen.
The reality of it being of course that the parent is the one responsible for their child - and more importantly, where they store their acid oven cleaners!
if we live the way that's being suggested, we'd have to coat everything in safety foam, and stop using the ovens as they are hot and can burn children..
Will look for some on my local poundland, I think my oven can do with something a bit stronger than currently :S

Read an article about this product being withdrawn a couple of months ago because of a child being hurt with the acid in the pack,
Just googled it. The company has set up a customer helpline on 0845 605 2981
"An oven-cleaning product has been recalled due to safety fears after a toddler drank several mouthfuls of the corrosive fluid.
Two-year-old Callum Blackshaw has been in hospital for three weeks after swallowing liquid from a bottle of Oven Pride.
The child, from Corringham, Essex, is being cared for at Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, and may require an oesophagus transplant after suffering severe internal burns.
Callum Blackshaw (R) in hospital with his twin Calvin and mother Maxine
His injuries prompted concerns over the product's safety cap.
Chris Bull, chief executive of McBride, which owns the Oven Pride brand, said it is recalling all Oven and BBQ Pride stock as a precaution to check the safety cap mechanism."

This was a while ago, like last summer. We had to remove them all from the shop floor at work. Since then we've had new stock

sadly if it is being withdrawn i bet it is the real thing in poundland , hopefully callum is ok , and that oven pride change the caps , i always thought things like this bitrex added - ive just cleaned my oven with hg oven cleaner it was ok for the oven but prefer oven pride for the racks - the bottle had a very mall press down and turn top which was difficult to get into more products should have tops like this x

belive you wolves2013 thats its oven pride , poundland always have the seconds , near date and withdrawn items - naughty though they should at least have put a warning on the bottle if it is the ones with faulty tops x
good find though worth stocking up on as long as you keep it safe x

not in my poundland, just a cheap naff never heard of brand.
Poor child, let's remember childproof caps may not always be childproof. All these products should be stored high up and / or in a locked cupboard.

Great isn't it. :disappointed: Every time somebody does something stupid, i.e. a parent not putting a corrosive product out of reach, there has to be a major over-reaction, and the rest of us have to suffer as a result.
If you're disappointed with your current product, you will not be with this. It's really satisfying seeing all that black burnt on stuff coming of the racks in the bag. They look like new after.

Cant do that anymore though. Health & safety says you might choke on it, be allergic to it, might contain nuts or made within 10 miles of a factory that might make nuts or be near to a beehive. It's also stored in plastic bags that will destroy the environment and ducks will swallow them and choke. Dont even start me on the child putting it's head in the bag.
It's ok if you say it's a health product, environmentally friendly and organic free range, in which case go for your life. If you're still alive that is.
