This is an extension of the excellent afternoon deal fish+chips, which has now gone up 90p in all branches to £4.99 (soft drink) / £5.99 (alcohol). That's 2-5, Monday to Friday.
This is now 12-10 on Friday, the fish is now bigger (8oz) and batter lighter. It was already very good quality, fresh, light fish and nice batter so will be even better now. A great extra "club" option IMO especially for the start of the weekend. The usual "club" drinks selection applies.

Fish 'n chips + drink great value and some of the best battered fish I've had. Most other pubs are charging about double for similar stuff. Going there today for Fish Friday! (and I don't work there but am open to large bribes)

The Wetherspoons opposite my workplace used to do fish & chips with peas and a pint for £4.25. Was far better than most of the chips shops I've been too... and far better price...

Looking from the ops recent posts he clearly works for Wetherspoons. In the last day or so he has posted a number of deals for Wetherspoons after the new menu launched on monday,
Either that or he works on behalf of a marketing company.

I don't and never have done, nor have I worked for a marketing company - they are good deals and I like the place. Company does far more for saving heritage than the government and most councils and is (in most cases, not all pubs) usually a good atmosphere for anyone to feel they can enter. I just spotted the deals looking at menu/in-store promo material (the food tasters) and posted them.

Why don't you volunteer to help the HMRC(better still DWP) or apply to work there to get paid on results and see how many that you actually find?! You could just dip your toe in the water first by investing an hour of your time to help our country and discuss this vast opportunity with a Department Works and Pensions fraud team manager! By the way I go to Wetherspoons regularly although there are some "residents" but nothing that shouts scammers at me.

Always so many contrasting views re Wetherspoons.
I have nothing but praise for them, appreciate & vocally praise staff I encounter doing a damn good job & appearng to care, maintaining standards, being sociable etc..
& if there is a problem I do mention it & it's always sorted instantly, other times if somethings run out we appreciate it may be a Sunday, busy, overstretched etc & make allowances.
Same as a few weeks ago in the a Cambridge branch there were some kids running around for a solid hour & the parents didn't care (they were upstairs so guessed they'd be out of the way I anticipate, half hearted control whilst not giving a toss).
Spoke to the manager as we were leaving who was on it like a shot, less than 5 seconds & she'd cornered the kids & was tackling the issue.
Incidentally tried the toast & pate on offer, good quality pate, decent bread, & when I asked if I could have more toast because I didn't wish to waste the pate, it was immediately forthcoming & not charged for.
If other folks behaviour offends you as a customer get the staff to sort it.
If food is not acceptable speak to staff who will generally sort it or refund you.
if all is well praise your hard working staff & let them know it's appreciated.
call the comments line & engage with the company in order that they can progress, don't just moan online having slunk away.
They are only human after all & most folk actually want to do a pretty decent job in customer facing positions or else they don't last long.
So, if anyone from Wetherspoons PR does happen t read this, your staff at the Tivoli in Cambridge are superb & friendly competent & will handle anything thrown at them*, in my experience *(possibly with the exception of a kids spag bol).
Happy to recommend it, upstairs views of river very good & quieter than downstairs bar.

These places, unfortunately, do attract some dregs of society due to their cheap prices - but you'd be hard pushed to find decent brand names and very good beer at these prices elsewhere.
Yes, it's not a 'pub' in the traditional sense - but think of it like this: McDonalds isn't really a restaurant.

Sunday lunch at Evesham, one is supposedly Beef the other Pork. We had a refund but whilst we were waiting for refund another customer choked on his meal and the managers concern was to get him outside to save the mess, Quite a surreal scene as the chef performed the Heimlich Maneuver !
Luckily paramedics quickly arrived and saved him.

Once again Weatherspoons come up trumps with how they do it for the price. Quite frankly I probably don’t want to know. This outfit allows the average punter to go out and have a meal with a pint at a price that is not prohibitive. They deserve to do well.

Called in last night for this and had to obtain a refund after the second attempt at cooking the fish. The first attempt the batter was over half an inch thick over cooked and not nice. The second time the batter looked nice and golden but the fish was under cooked. As said I did get a nice apology including a free drink and refund. They also promised to practice getting the recipe correct.

Great deal I'd say. All the Wetherspoons I've been in have all been very different - the one usual feature is too few staff for the number of customers. Went to East Grinstead yesterday mid morning and just one poor girl working with a queue about 12 deep, so we just left. Steak in Swansea not very good, steak in York really excellent, but only got literally 7 chips, and when I told a staff girl, she brought me (literally) 4 more - a bit insulting I thought. Don't know if they'd run out of chips. The duty manage made a point of coming over at the end to ask if everything was ok, and I said the steak was excellent, but something went wrong with the chip portion, and he asked me what I expected for £7 (strange, since I'd paid £9), guess that's Yorkshire grit or something. Worthing seems to have been a **** 80 year old club when we visited there, but we did our bit and stopped the really **** old men from falling over (literally) on the way to the bogs a couple of times, don't mind that.. Wetherspoons are great as far as I'm concerned.
Tim should
- get more staff and
- start a charitable foundation to buy up and preserve the character of the proper local pubs his very good business is destroying.

We go to Spoons for lunch from work. It has its ups and downs, there are your characters who go in every day, all day, but the food is fine for its cost and as a company they seem to be a good employer. For us we could all wander separately and get a sandwich or something but for a few quid more you can get a plated meal. Did notice last night the prices had gone up but were still cheaper than the other pubs. For a change once we tried O'Neills for sunday lunch and the quality was much worse even though they charged more.

They are pubs, you just seem to have a dated and idealised view of what a pub should be.

21 Mar 131#24
I disagree with the comment saying that wetherspoons is not a pub, it is a pub - it is not a restraunt. Its simply a chain pub that offers good value pub grub (the best of the pub chains I think - if you compare it to some others eg John Barras, The Original Pub Co) and cheap drinks!

I've found 'spoons food quality to vary greatly from branch to branch. In Wolverhampton, I think it was, some years ago, I had the worst pub meal I'd ever endured. But normally the range runs from acceptable to very good.
This is a good deal for left-footers like me. Thanks for the post, OP!

You've missed my point entirely. Are you a regular?
They are not pubs.
They are cheap drinking establishments that have the rigmarole and routine of any large company. Pubs are small drinking establishments owned privately or by breweries, where you can have a catch up with the locals at the bar, squeeze the barman's bum (or landlady's tit) and have a homely, well-worn feel.
