Listed this a couple of weeks ago but sold out so for those that missed out - 12 month warranty, refurbished. The STBHDIS2010 you can upgrade the firmware (see link) to get iplayer (and other internet telly) plus the HD channels.
Has two scart sockets if like me you have an old telly but also a HDMI socket. You need to supply your own scart of HDMI cable.
These usually go very quickly. Picked mine up this morning from post office, in original box which is just a little bit battered. Looks perfect. Small too.
Good reviews and apparently the picture is very good. My toshiba freeview which comes with a DVD recorder isn't very good so hoping this will be better and it will have iplayer.
It has an ethernet port and you use an cable to connect your router to this box to get internet telly including iplayer. You should have gotten a cable with your router.

I don't know if there's a work around but it's copy protected. You can't unless someone figured out how to hack it online.

Available again at 24.99 on ebay but they also have the same model but with HY at the end for 29.97 - anyone know what the HY adds?

I don't but it's only the specific model I put on here that has the iplayer firmware upgrade confirmed as working. They have a couple of models same number different ending and I couldn't find anyone online who'd been able to get iplayer to work with them.
I'm happy with mine except you can't turn it off completely or you need to update again I have everything on remote socket so it's all turned off at night which is annoying and the way the channels are set up, some by pressing P+ and the others by pressing p- isn't great. However I do like that the red button sport etc channel is on on 300 or 301 so no having to go through the menus to access it and although I don't have a HD telly the picture quality is good as are the colour balances. Had to delete so many rubbish channels, mainly porn and shopping.

If you set channels you want as favorites then p+ and p- will scroll through them.
I just have BBC 1HD. BBC 2. ItvHD. Channel4HD and channel 5 as favorites to quickly skip through the main channels.
For selecting any others I use the guide ( EPG)

I think the channel set up is a mess.
I've deleted loads of channels, loads of porn/shopping channels etc. So do that it will massively help.
So when you turn it on it's BBC1HD and as you scroll up (P+) through the channels you get to finally 802 for example which is BBC1 but you're missing loads.
This time when you're on BBC1HD press P- button and there you'll be able to scroll through the other channels. That's where you're channels are, very weird.
Weird thing is you get to bbc 2 then press down again and it goes to BBC1HD and you're back at the start scroll up to BBC2 and you get BBC2HD. Type in 802 for BBC1 and it defaults to the BBC1HD channel.
I'm still playing with it, I've tried grouping channels etc but 802 bbc1 keeps on defaulting to bbc1hd. Only way to get bbc1 is to scroll up from 101HD to 802.
So in a nutshell.
Scroll up (P+) through the channels for HD and some others.
Scroll down (P-) through the channels for the rest.
There has to be a better way I just haven't figured it out yet.

just did the 'normal' install tune ... it went through all the set up etc .. but when finished there was no BBC1/2 and a few others .. ( bbc1/2 were there in HD but tv I am using on this is not HD )
Tecknika = Good brand.
I was looking for a DVD player few years back that could play all formats, money was tight and at the time was around 50 at least for any other. Found a technika one in tesco for £20.
Was perfect, good quality build good remote never let me down and was even goin to buy another incase it broke but never did.

I would not say Tecknika are a good brand. I have three refurbished Tecknika small LCD TVs. They do the job for the money, but when I moved to a weak signal area they all struggled for signal whilst better makes were OK. You pays your money. TBF at this price the Freeview box looks good value.

If it loses power then it will need to redownload the channel zero and iplayer stuff, which only takes a couple of minutes if it has internet access. Leave it in standby and it's fine.
Try turning the hd link off in the settings.

I have this very unit that I bought for £19.99 from Tesco's eBay site... It's an excellent piece of kit - The menu system is decent and it's pretty simple to install and set up - you may want to check whether this is actually a refurb though (mine was).
The only slight niggle I get is an intermittent problem when watching HD channels - the screen/sound goes blank for about a second or so, then come back on again.
Slightly annoying but I can deal with it - outside of that, the best £20 I have spent for a long time.

I did lots of research before buying it and I never came across that so it's possibly just their machine. I'm going to connect mine this evening.

Is he saying that when you power down it loses the firmware and you have to download it again? If not then I might get one.
