I'd be interested to know how much power this thing consumes if left permanently plugged in. I'm sure nobody here can give me the answer though!

Yes would like to know that too,

"switches on automatically during a power cut"
In the old days it was a pain finding my torch in a power cut - thanks to mobile phone torches no longer a problem.
Looks ok - but not sure what use a 2 metre range motion sensor is - you would be practically beside it

Yeah, but it's also basically a battery charger that you're leaving plugged in. If it's intelligent, it'll just turn on when needed. Otherwise it might be permanently slow charging, basically working as a little heater wasting energy.

power consumption would also for me be a important question

these are great for a hallway or landing, so if you have guest trying to find the toilet in the night the light kicks on at floor level and prevents nasty accidents in unfamiliar surroundings. Heat

Really, where? Theres a speech bubble, a meaningless triangle, and three meaningless balls connected together. I can find no other way of finding my way back here later if I see something interesting on the train.

Don t understand the concern about energy consumption. What this thing consumes in one year is equivalent to onet extra kettle boil in one year or thereabouts.
OB1 to mystik
4 Feb 13#20
By my quick maths that would mean it was 0.01W.
I can confidently say it will be a lot more than this!
If it averaged 3W it would be like boiling an extra kettle full of water most days of the year.

If it consumes 1 Watt, which is entirely possible, then that equates to 8.7kW/hours in one year. That's the equivalent of boiling a kettle over 80 times, assuming you start with 1 liter of water in the kettle at 10 Celsius.

^ 2kW for 3-4minutes.

I thought it was a good idea for the landing, especially as when my 6 year old gets up to go to the loo, she has enough lights on to be on par with Blackpool illuminations!

No, she is like that at the moment, her bedroom light on, the landing lights on, bathroom light and she messes about with the light switches, switching the downstairs lights on - this would save (hopefully) all of this!

I work as a lineman for the county - this is gonna be ideal for me.
Only about 12 available in the local LIDL at 08:00 today when the store opened for business - so you'll need to be quick.

I picked one up in my local LIDL this morning around 9.30, they had around 20 on display. Got mine plugged into a wall socket at the top of stairs, seems to be quite bright.

Just picked one up - loads (roughly 20) in my local LIDL. Not too bad either, pretty bright. Again, not bad for the landing.

Thanks OP. I picked one up yesterday.
Couldn't find one in the 1st store I visited but the second one had about 10 in. Really happy with it.

Picked up two today in my local store (Balby, Doncaster) they had 10+ available . Overall very pleased with them. I have them installed in my new kitchen on one wall spaced apart by about 5ft. The sensors kick in nicely one at a time as I walk through the kitchen into the conservatory so I don't have to turn on the main light switch. I just wish they would stop on a touch longer before timing out to no movement as when milling about they kick in/out a little too often (15 secs).

Got one on Monday, wouldn't swich on even when charging so took it back yesterday for an exchange which was hassle free. Was unsure whether to exchange it or just get a refund as I couldn't understand how it'd charge through the plastic base. Neverless when brought home plugged it in and was surprised how bright it was! My 3 year old loves to wander into our bed at stupid o clock at night but now thanks to the sensor light on it I can make him do a u turn as soon as he comes in without having to get out of bed to flick lights on/of for him!!! So was very pleased with it tonight!!! Thanks OP!

Doubt it. Aldi & Lidl are notorious for having limited stock for a limited amount of time on household items like this.
I think they have to return what they don't sell after a couple of weeks or something, as they have a new range coming out every week.
If you have a choice buy the flat one not the one shaped like a torch.
I have bought them for Christmas presents and have one at the top and bottom of the stairs.
They are very bright and can be used as a torch.
One of the benefits is that whenever I need a torch to look in the loft etc if I can find one the batteries are flat or it needs recharging. With these you always have a torch available - you know where it is and it's fully charged. What more could you want.
