So does anyone know if this TV has ARC on any of its HDMI inputs? I skipped through the entire thread, but all I can see is other people asking the same.
I bought the Teac AG-D200 from Richer Sounds about a month ago, which has audio passthrough in standby mode, but I was hoping to be able to not have to turn the receiver on at the mains when we just want to watch stuff through the TV's internal speakers (which is most of the time).
Also, there are a couple of settings in the TV's audio settings menu, 'Auto Volume' and 'AD Switch', which aren't explained in the manual. Does anyone know what these do? They both have an on/off setting, but I can't work out what they actually do.

Hi all,
I have a quick question for anyone who currently owns this TV. I also have one and have used the SD slot successfully to play vids with a standard USB stick. However I am looking to buy a large external HD drive (about 3 or 4tbs) pack it full of content and connect it permanently. My only reservation is does the SD slot have any sort of size limitation? Perhaps is only works with smaller USB sticks?
If anybody has successfully connected a larger HD for streaming purposes I would be grateful to hear from you. Or if you do have one lying about and could quickly test it out and let me know if it works that would be greatly appreciated.
I don't really want to make my external HD purchase until I know it will work, so I thought it worth a shot be best to ask around first.
Many thanks for any info.

SD slot? Do you mean the USB port? The TV's manual states that the TV supports FAT32 and 'Hi-Speed FS' filesystems. I've not idea what the latter is, but the maximum size of a FAT32 volume is 2TB (AFAIK). Also, FAT32 supports a maximum filesize of 4GB (meaning no HD rip files > 4GB).
The external HDD would also need to be powered by its own source. There's no info on the power output of the TV's USB port, but I doubt it is an above-spec one which would power a 2.5" HDD. All 3.5" HDDs require their own power source anyway.
EDIT: To summarise, the TV should be fine with an external HDD, as long as it has its own power source, and you'll only be able to use one partition up to the size of 2TB (regardless of the physical capacity of the HDD), containing files of up to 4GB in size.

Does anyone have a panel other than the 'LC550EUN_SEM1'? Because this panel only has a 60hz refresh rate and 1400:1 contrast ratio, whereas Furrion's specs state that this TV has a 120hz refresh rate, with a contrast ratio of 1600:1. There are other LG panels that match Furrion's claimed specs (i.e. this), so I'm wondering if Furrion actually used various different panels in these TVs, some with lesser specs than what they claim.

15 Feb 13#17
I know the manual states that it only supports FAT32, however my current HDD plugged in is formatted as NTFS and it is being powered by the usb port as well. It is only 120GB and a 2.5" drive so it is relatively small, so I can't say whether it'll work or not with the larger 2.5" drives. If it's a 3.5" standard size HDD though, then it will most probably require it's own power source. Also I wouldn't suggest going over 2TB as I know that most devices such as standalone Blu-ray Players which tend to have better capabilities and are more dedicated to the job have a limitation of 2TB, so I can't really see this TV being any different to those and will probably have the same limitations.

19 Feb 13#18
Thanks for the feedback guys, I was looking more for end user feedback rather than the official manual stance, but they are handy to compare. I think I'll just go for smaller HDs, no real need to have one large one. If anyone users a larger HD that 120GB please let me know, Think I'll risk purchasing a 250GB first and see if it likes that. A few of those should be fine.

I bought this TV when first posted and have had no reply to several e-mails to Furrion support requesting new firmware (as my panel number is different from the one posted with firmware link) and am now resigned to the fact that their customer service is non existant. Hiya I was just wondering if anyone else on here has had issues with their 55inch Furrion or dealt with Ebuyer / Furrion regarding a fault.
Like most of you I bought mine in December and it was fine until Monday gone when it turned itself off and took out the fuse in the process. After replacing the fuse the set is stuck in standby :disappointed:
I tried Furrion support only to be told they can’t get parts/boards to repair these sets and I should get in touch with ebuyer. Ebuyer say they can’t replace it but I could return it at my cost, small problem I don’t have the box anymore. To round it off I was told over the phone that I might not even be issued a full refund! It would be more like £375.
Well I’m a bit stumped to be honest lol I see a few of you have had good responses regarding updates so any pointers will be appreciated.

Yeah, these TVs haven't been available anywhere since eBuyer sold out after they were featured on HUKD, so I always assumed that this model was a limited run that Furrion produced after getting a good deal on a batch of panels or something. Since Furrion themselves told you that they're out of parts, I guess your only option is to return it to eBuyer for a refund. You're well within the 2-year guarantee, so they should refund you the whole amount; not sure why they'd only refund £375?
As for sending it back, just wrap a load of bubblewrap around it, then encase it with cardboard, all secured with thick tape. Use interparcel.com to get a cheap quote for a courier to send it back (I'd advise purchasing insurance when you book the courier, just in case the TV gets damaged in transit).
I've just been reading eBuyer's returns policy, and it's a bit vague on who foots the cost of the return shipping. But I'm presuming that they aren't as nice as Amazon (who cover the return cost themselves). Due to the size of the TV, you might end up forking out £30-40 to get it packed up and sent back. Let us know how you get on.

Hi all
I’m in Northumberland so it’s not really feasible to deliver it personally to ebuyer lol
Anyway I managed to get hold of a Panasonic TV box that just fits the Furrion snugly and arranged Parcelforce for collection, it cost £39 but it’s insured. A lot of couriers won’t cover glass products or larger flat screens.
I phoned back for clarification on the refund and I was told that they deduct the usage I’ve had of the TV from the refund so five months use equals a £24 deduction! I’m not happy about it obviously since the TV wasn’t fit for purpose. I paid with a credit card and hopefully I’ll be able to claim back the full £399.
The two year warranty is a bit of a joke really, what’s the point of it if they can’t get hold of the parts to repair them and then ebuyer stick the knife in with their proportionate refund policy. I’m just glad this happened so soon, 18 months down the line you could be left with nothing!
First and last time I order anything expensive from ebuyer. I hope you all have better luck !

ebuyer tried to refund me less on a pc that was only a few months old and had fried for no reason. They quoted the usage deduction of three months. I said no, they said yes, I said I don't think so, they said it was company policy and I asked for clarification by email of the totals etc. I sent an email saying whilst I wasn't happy, I would accept the deduction, but under the circumstances, as they considered that the product was still theirs, I would have no choice but to charge them a storage fee (double what they were reducing the amount by). No reply for a week so I sent the email again, to yet no further response. Telephoned them back and they said they had thought i was "joking". I explained that was what I thought they were doing with there refund policy.
Needless to say, after a little stand off they refunded the entire original purchase price ( confirmed in email and when they got the item, refunded the correct amount).
So my advice is just charge them a storage fee, making sure it is more than the deduction and covers postage, and use the same tactics they do. If they do refuse then just report them lol for not agreeing to a refund for a faulty product - would have been my next step!

I see im not the only one who's had issues with this TV
Our Furrion tv began making a noticeable hissing / buzzing noise a few months after buying, ebuyer said there was nothing wrong with it after their expert diagnoses over the phone.
8 days ago the buzzing got louder and the TV went pop, something inside began to smoulder with lots of smoke until it was unplugged.
After this the TV stank of what reminded me of TCP and im currently in a battle with ebuyer trying to obtain a full refund.
Just a warning to those who have this 55inch tv, i see more than one person has noticed their tv has started buzzing so keep an eye on it and switch it off properly if its being left unattended.

Hi JayMax, I couldn't trouble you for that firmware again could I? My Furrion has been fine all these years on the original firmware, but after a power blip yesterday, HDMI2 and HDMI3 no longer negotiate properly with the input devices. HDMI1 still does. I am hoping that the updated firmware might sort it. Worth a go. Cheers, Ed.
Does anyone know how to get a HDMI input to stay in 'PC Mode' (rather than Auto)

I don't really, but if theres anything newer out there then surely will be better.
The firmware on my set is from 2012.
I do have 1 niggle which i think is likely my PS4 where the video cuts out so the screen goes blue for a second or 2. Sometimes does it constantly for 15 seconds on off on off. I have tried changing the hdmi cable, i use a AVR.
Maybe some handshake problem or maybe its the PS4 itself.
I contacted furrion today and they emailed me back within 10 minutes.. WOW!. They said they'll forward my request on to a engineer who will get back to me about it.
J4GG4
4 Nov 16#79

thats interesting
i have the same issue occasionally (once or twice a week perhaps) and i often have to disconnect and reconnect the hdmi cable on my ONKYO receiver - i thought it was potentially the receiver and not the TV but given you have the same thing ......
Please let me know if you do get a new firmware!
J4GG4
9 Nov 16#81
Furrion have got back to me, they've said that there was never any firmware updates available for this model tv.
Well thats a lie. I'm emailing them back now.
About the video flickering on/off/on/off randomly... I am pretty sure its my AVR doing this. It only did it for me in game HDMI when playing on the PS4. I have replaced the HDMI cable and the PS4 completely, it still does it. So its the tv or avr, and there's a lot of similar/same issues of this on google and it points top the AVR. Funny enough, i ordered a new TV and it comes today, so when i fit it i will of course observe to see if i still get this same problem.
So i would check your AVR in google by typing in the model number and something like 'video cutting out'.

Seems like I'm not the only one having problems with this TV lol. Well after just under 4 years of having this TV I am having problems with the backlights/sidelights. Specifically the right side. I'm curious to know if anyone else has had this problem.
Basically, the top right side the TV led is not working (probs one bulb, maybe 2, not sure). I am still getting a picture and sound but at a slightly darkened experience. The problem first started back in summer this year. The whole right side of the TV the LED lights where working intermittently. What I would do was to switch the tv off then on and it'd be ok, sometimes straight away sometimes not. Well now, at this point, only the top right side is not working now, no matter what I do. The bottom right side has been perfectly fine since I've been diagnosing the problem, which is weird, as I would've thought they would've have completely died too...
Anyone know what I should do? I can't find anything about this tv on the internet regarding repairs or quick fixes :disappointed:

No reply for a week so I sent the email again, to yet no further response. Telephoned them back and they said they had thought i was "joking". I explained that was what I thought they were doing with there refund policy.
Needless to say, after a little stand off they refunded the entire original purchase price ( confirmed in email and when they got the item, refunded the correct amount).
So my advice is just charge them a storage fee, making sure it is more than the deduction and covers postage, and use the same tactics they do. If they do refuse then just report them lol for not agreeing to a refund for a faulty product - would have been my next step!
Its on all day maybe 8am till 4am and then its switched off using the button under the tv itself.
So far so good. Viewing angle is excellent on it.
Thanks in advance.
Great TV really. Viewing angle great too.
Cannot believe its been nearly 2 years already!

It was so long ago I don't know what this firmware does - but my Furrion is on this FW and still going strong, it's probably the best bargain I've had on HUKD
Tried your link and even though it was only posted 1 week ago, it doesn't appear to work and goes to filedropper.com/ only. Can you repost please.;)
No problem - try this link:

I've just bought one of those Dell mini PC things, but every time I shut it down the TV resets back from PC mode to auto on the HDMI resulting in a stretched image until I change it back again!

Mate you've not got incoming pm selected. Have a look at ya settings or pm me ya number
Thinking about doing a firmware flash now.
My panel is:
LC550EUN_SEM1
Anyone advise which firmware to use...?
The firmware on my set is from 2012.
I do have 1 niggle which i think is likely my PS4 where the video cuts out so the screen goes blue for a second or 2. Sometimes does it constantly for 15 seconds on off on off. I have tried changing the hdmi cable, i use a AVR.
Maybe some handshake problem or maybe its the PS4 itself.
I contacted furrion today and they emailed me back within 10 minutes.. WOW!. They said they'll forward my request on to a engineer who will get back to me about it.
Do you have the same panel as me?.. check inside the hidden menu.
I will let you know if they give me the firmware.
i have the same issue occasionally (once or twice a week perhaps) and i often have to disconnect and reconnect the hdmi cable on my ONKYO receiver - i thought it was potentially the receiver and not the TV but given you have the same thing ......
Please let me know if you do get a new firmware!
