Adobe is giving away the entire CS2 Creative Suite for free, all you need to do is register.

Go get yourself an entire art tool set!

The suite includes...

Acrobat 3D 1.0
Acrobat Standard 7.0
Acrobat Pro 8.0
Audition 3.0
GoLive CS2
Illustrator CS2
InCopy CS2
InDesign CS2
Photoshop CS2
Photoshop Elements 4.0/5.0
Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0

Update (source CNet)
On behalf of Adobe Systems Incorporated ...

You have heard wrong! Adobe is absolutely not providing free copies of CS2!

What is true is that Adobe is terminating the activation servers for CS2 and that for existing licensed users of CS2 who need to reinstall their software, copies of CS2 that don't require activation but do require valid serial numbers are available. (Special serial numbers are provided on the page for each product download.) See .
You are only legally entitled to download and install with that serial number if you have a valid license to the product!

All the download links still work & easy to download now although it takes some time even on a 12Mbps broadband connection.

As someone mentioned in one of the posts, use a download manager with which you can pause, etc to make it easier - I use the free Orbit Downloader.

Here's my interpretation. Adobe like the idea of lots of home users having an old version of CS on their computers. They know there is no way they would pay for the full Creative Suite, but if home users can open up psd and ai files then those files become more of a lingua franca for image editing. More importantly, bored kids and geeks can start learning Adobe products, meaning more sales in the future.
On the other hand, just making CS2 freeware would be dangerous for Adobe. There are lots of businesses where a few people need to work with CS every day and others want to use it once a month. Adobe want paid-for CS6 on as many computers as possible, not free CS2.
So, they release CS2 basically for free with some nudge-nudge-wink-wink statements. The freebie lovers who would never buy CS install it, the legit businesses don't want to take the risk.

If you have installed it let us know the correct path. Unless you don't know what that ~ means. Your instructions are a copy from a forum, so I doubt you have installed it. Else you would tell us the right path. Have a look in through Windows Explorer and tell us the full name eh?

[quote=kiddac]OK after a lot of trial an error here is how to fully install the CS2 suite step by step. This includes photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and bridge (file explorer)

Download the CS2 suite files ( I did this via jdownloader software - google it)

download.adobe.com/pub…exe
download.adobe.com/pub…exe
download.adobe.com/pub…exe

and the extra goodies i.e fonts/textures etc if you want them

download.adobe.com/pub…exe

1. Right-click each file (.exe file)
2. Select Properties then go to the Compatibility tab.
3. Put a check on the “Run this program in compatibility mode for” then select the previous OS which do you think it worked. For your case select Windows XP with Service Pack 3
4. Then under Privilege Level, place a check on “Run this program as administrator”
5. Click Apply then OK.

ignore disk 1 (we will come back to this)

Click disk 2 - but change the Save Files in folder destination to
C:\Creative Suite CS2\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0\

be default it goes to the wrong folder of C:\Creative Suite\Adobe Creative Suite 2.0\ - This later brings up an error of insert disk 2.

If it says Unable to create the specified output folder! - just click OK

Click Next

---------------------
Click Disk 3 - making sure the address is C:\Creative Suite CS2

Click Next

--------------

Install the Extra Files if you want to

--------------

Now Click Disk 1 - Destionation folder - C:\Creative Suite CS2
Ignore Quicktime 6 message
Accept Agreement
Enter Serial - 1130-1414-7569-4457-6613-5551
Now you need to change the location as C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe is not valid
change it to C:\Progra~2\Adobe

If the next button stays greyed out, click back then go forward with the next button. All should now be good

Install the entire suite or just the components you require.

Select Do not Register on drop down on the registration page

Enjoy. Goodnight:
I have followed your instructions and its asking me to insert disc 2?
I'd be thankful for any help :-)

if anyone's having any difficulty getting premiere pro working on windows 8 - here's what worked for me -

do the right click properties run in compatibility mode as detailed in the second post

then once installed it would open the loading screen, then dissapear and not do anything.

i then went to control panel - uninstall a programme - uninstall/change - repair.

seemed to do the trick - hope this helps someone!

Just a small warning for those of you who are installing these on work computers...

I have recently been working in software licensing (specifically for Adobe) and the installation of any Adobe software means you have agreed to their Ts and Cs.

One of these Ts and Cs is an audit clause. This means they have the right to request proof of license for any installed software. If you can't produce a valid license (which means a serial number on the original Adobe box OR an Adobe License certificate for volume license) you can be made to rectify the shortfall by purchasing a valid license. And I don't need to tell you how much a Creative Suite license is.

So remember, Adobe are NOT giving this software away for free.

Good luck all

Not to be a party pooper but I see this freebie being spam and illegal to some degree. Why? Well, how people have confirmed it's a mistake on Adobe's end, it's for people who legally own CS2 and need to re-activate their LEGIT copy. About 10 mins ago I saw a thread deleted and marked as spam due to the site handing out illegal copies of 007. Dafuq?

Now I'm not aiming this at everyone as there might be genuine people on here who own CS2.

How do you install the Loopology 4.2GB file? I've extracted it and there are 2 files I can click to install - one is a Windows Installer and one is a setup.exe file

I'm similarly intrigued by Adobe's statement; I guess there are plenty of reasons they wouldn't want to antagonize those who have already downloaded CS2; but it would be very simple to take down or modify the download page and links to prevent further 'free' downloads.

On the download page this deal links to there are simply the download links and product keys.
There is no statement mentioning licensing; on clicking the link there is no pop-up asking you to confirm you have bought a license; and similarly on install you are simply asked for a valid key.
As it is the product and it's license keys have been made freely available; there is nothing wrong in downloading and using them.

"While this might be interpreted as Adobe giving away software for free, we did it to help our customers"

The statement issued by Adobe is a little odd. It is either very badly worded, or they have been careful not to say the software is not free. It merely explains the reasons they put the downloads there, but no more than that. You'd think that, if they were trying to stop people downloading it "illegally", they would have made a clear statement that the software is not for general use.

I've also noticed that the large thread on the Adobe forums discussing this issue has mysteriously disappeared. Again, if Adobe were trying to stop people from regarding the software as free, surely they would have simply put a clear statement on that thread rather than deleting it? It's as if they're deliberately trying to leave the situation as ambiguous. It's all very odd!

(I don't actually need CS2, but I'm finding this whole thing rather intriguing).

I assume these progs, now safely downloaded, be kept and installed on any future PC?

My ancient XP rig could never run most of them, so I won't be installing yet.

When I upgrade to a Win 7 (or god forbid, Win8) machine, the fact you don't have to go through activation servers means that (with compatibility mode), you can install them at any distant date?

Kiddac used a download manager, so you might do the same.
The one Kiddac used is mentioned in the instructions post, on page 11: jdownloader
I use one for Firefox called: DownThemAll
Download managers don't work for some links, but work for many and can give you the best chance of a download, as well as making it possible to resume broken ones.
You can either try one of those two or just do what I did and download late at night, when less people are around and your speeds should be better.
You can send me a message directly, if you need to, but I will likely come up with similar suggestions.

EDIT: Thanks OP, thanks Kiddac for the instructions and thanks Guinea, for the links on Pg 14.

As to the status of if this is legal or not Adobe has only issued one statement on it

"Update on CS2 and Acrobat 7 Activation Servers

Are you downloading the correct 3 disk files and using the correct serial for them.
Username can be anything: Organisation I usually put 'none'. Serial just cut and paste.

i just noticed my instructions ask you to

This is meant to put the files in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe

I think i made a mistake here as looking in my folders this has created a new folder progra~

Just done a quick google and the folder might actually be
C:\Progra~2\Adobe

Can you reinstall using that path instead. Let me know how you get on and I'll edit my original instructions if I have made an error

People are obviously not reading through these posts fully, as I have already posted about this issue.

MAC USERS: INSTALL WINE and you can then INSTALL AND USE THE WINDOWS VERSION of Photoshop CS2. And probably other CS2 apps too.

PR stunt ...

Give away ye olde version - people get comfy and realise new features in current version might be more use (eg: Premiere Pro)

Ass covering by saying "oops, this isnt for everyone" but not actually killing the downloads.

If they DID want to cover their own backsides they could require a user enter their current serial number to gain access to the new downloads and new serial - at least in the short term.
GingerDi
8 Jan 13 #248
I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium and 64-bit.

Going round and round in circles with the serial message. Argh!

Question - should the Disc 1 files be actually in the Program Files/X86 or should you have a brand new entry on the C drive (Progra~2)?
moominpapa22
8 Jan 13 #245
The download page is back up again. You don't even need to log in to get the downloads and serial numbers now. If Adobe don't want to give it away for free then why make it so easily available, surely they are shooting themselves in the foot.

Terri Stone,
I don't think you have to worry about Adobe coming after you for this, union_bug.
As soon as our execs have approved an official statement on this issue, I or another Adobe staffer will post it here.

and
Community Admin,
Effective December 13, Adobe disabled the activation server for CS2 products and Acrobat 7 because of a technical glitch. These products were released over 7 years ago and do not run on many modern operating systems. But to ensure that any customers activating those old versions can continue to use their software, we issued a serial number directly to those customers. While this might be interpreted as Adobe giving away software for free, we did it to help our customers.

from here: forums.adobe.com/thr…893

Long and short of it seems to be Adobe wanted to drop CS2 distribution support (activations and activation troubleshooting) and given the official supported OS only went up to XP which is over 11 years old they figured not many people would be interested.

8 Jan 13 #241
Adobe have admitted their 'mistake' and won't be taking any action over this. Anyway, do you really think this will hurt Adobe, giving away products that are WAY past their prime? If anything, it will get an entire new group of people hooked on their products, many of whom will eventually pay for a newer version. Smart marketing disguised as a blunder imo.

Many thanks to OP and to kiddac for his excellent installation instructions, not yet tried as it's time for bed!

dalipsinghno1, I don't think you need to worry.
Having downloaded the three disks for Windows, and the additional "goodies disk" recommended by kiddac, I too received a warning from my AV that disk 3 was not often downloaded and could harm my PC.
Scanning all the downloads with both AVG and MBAM declared them all to be OK, but don't take my word for it, do scan any downloads yourself before you open the files.
They can't (usually) do you any harm 'till you open or double click on them.

This freebie certainly puts the 12 days of Christmas app in the shade!!:D

OK after a lot of trial an error here is how to fully install the CS2 suite step by step.

Enjoy. Goodnight

You can use the Adobe DNG converter to convert the RAW files into DNG,and then import these to an earlier version.
o_t_e
8 Jan 13 #210
I had a similar problem in the past with either CS or CS2 not recognising nikon D200 files - the workaround then was to find a free dng converter that adobe supplied that would allow the converted files to be read by photoshop. From memory it took a bit of hunting to find the right version of the dng program. Hope I'm not sending you on a wild goose chase as it was some time ago and they may not offer the free converter at all now.

I made same mistake - carry on reading!

"If you have a digital creative streak but your budget doesn’t extend far enough to buy Adobe’s Creative Suite applications, this is for you. Adobe have made available an array of applications from its Creative Suite 2 bundle — for free.

Along with the ever-popular Photoshop CS2 are applications such as Premiere Pro CS2, InDesign CS2, and Illustrator CS2. If you want the whole bundle, the entire Creative Suite 2 is also available for download.

CS2 is not new by any standards — it was first released in April 2005 — but it’s still a fantastic offer and capable of some serious work. And when the cost is just the time it takes to download it, it’s a real bargain.

Download available here, with Windows and OS X versions available."

IF ANY OF THE SERIALS DON'T WORK...
Turns out this free CS2 wasn't meant to be free after all the serials were intended for those who already own CS2 as Adobe have taken the activation servers offline. So this deal is dead basically

"On behalf of Adobe Systems Incorporated ...
You are only legally entitled to download and install with that serial number if you have a valid license to the product!"

If you want to install CS2 it should be in a 32-bit OS environment like Windows XP. But Windows 7 has a solution for this.
1. Right-click on the installer file (.exe file)
2. Select Properties then go to the Compatibility tab.
3. Put a check on the “Run this program in compatibility mode for” then select the previous OS which do you think it worked. For your case select Windows XP with any Service Pack.
4. Then under Privilege Level, place a check on “Run this program as administrator”
5. Click Apply then OK.

Big Big sigh.
Adobe state that CS2 is for older computers,in essence win XP on windows, dont know about macs.
Opposite each programme there is posted a serial number, copy and past to a document and save it,better still print it out.
download the files write to DVD for safekeeping, including serial numbers.
Unless you know how to dont try to install on win 7 and win8.
Photoshop is a superb but complicated programme,be patient read help files go to their site for tutorials, look them up on Youtube.
You need plenty of ram and preferably a separate hard drive, even an SSD as a scratch disc as photoshop uses a lot of memory and your working files can be very large requiring Photoshop to use your hard drive in place of ram.
The Adobe site has information on setting up your hardware, read it.
Enjoy, only your imagination limits what you can do

CS2 is only compatible with OS X versions 10.2 (Jaguar) to 10.6 (Snow Leopard).

In OS X 10.7 (Lion) Apple removed the legacy Rosetta code that allowed PowerPC software to run on a Intel processor. Since 2006 all new Macs have been Intel based.

From OS X 10.7 (Lion) onwards you can only run CS3 or later, which was the first version Adobe released that natively support Intel based Macs.

Mac users without Rosetta support i.e. those running OS X 10.7 and above, can try to install WINE 1.5 and the Windows versions of CS2 apps. Photoshop CS2 works perfectly well in WINE under Ubuntu 12.04, and should perform the same with Mac compiles of WINE 1.5.

Ok - technically these are illigal and are to get around the shutdown of their old activation system. So unless you owned it before its not legal.

oK THEY CHANGED IT - IT IS LEGAL

Excuse the caps

f you have a digital creative streak but your budget doesn’t extend far enough to buy Adobe’s Creative Suite applications, this is for you.

Download available here, with Windows and OS X versions available.

Im not at all sure to be honest. Its worth bearing in mind that it was written to work on XP and as with other software its sometimes not going to work on a later operating system. The caveat of course is that if you know how to work around that you are laughing but for many windows users that's not an option, they just want to switch on and go without having to mess under the bonnet so to speak.
By all means have a go ,let everyone know if you are successful too.
I still use CS3 on office PC for quick jobs but CS 6 for more intense work on my 64bit workstation.Ive even got PS 6 and 7 tucked away on a shelf, one never knows when it may come in usefull :-)

Is there a difference between downloading the Creative Suite disc images and the programs separately?

The separate program installers are much larger than the three disc sizes put together...
Beepcake
7 Jan 13 #69
I hope they've fixed the installers etc so they'll actually install/run without loads of messing on Win7/8 :-)

I still use Photoshop CS2 at home.. other than having to render to TIFF to edit from Lightroom it still does the job just fine, and crashes a lot less than the trial of CS6 I used recently.

It appears to be double talk.
CS2 does not require on line validation , just a valid serial number, which is provided on the download page, if I remember correctly !
IF you wish to uninstall CS2, first deactivate it then you can re install without having to get an activation code which is required if you try to install too many times.

Think we need some common sense here. I am a graphic designer who has used Adobe products for over 20 years so I will give you some advice for those who need it.

Looks like Adobe has made a balls up here by underestimating that these links will be made public to the masses. Twitter was going mad with them this morning and now its global. As mentioned in a previous comment, they are turning off the old activation servers so anyone with genuine old CS2 will not be able to active or reactive it. Therefore they have provided a downloaded version and a corresponding serial that doesn't need to go through the activation servers.

The bad news for adobe is these links are now everywhere, so anyone can register for an Adobe ID on there site, and download the FULL software and use the provided serials to activate it. Adobe are now panicing putting out statements saying you need a valid copy for this to be legit. Unfortunately you have the full software and serial so not a lot they can now do.

You do not need to download all the files. IN FACT DEFINETLY DONT. The servers are already busting a gut, they have created their own Denial of Service attack.

At the most you need to download Disk1, Disk2, Disk3 and WWE Extras. This will download the CS2 suite.

Ideally I presume the majority of people on here just want a valid copy of photoshop for photo and image editing. So just download that link and that link only.

All the other software is very specific to a particular job and you will probably never need it.

With the exception of maybe these.
Acrobat Pro 8.0 - just use a free alternative if you need to edit PDFs. i.e Foxit PDF editor
Illustrator - Used for drawing vectors/line art.
Indesign - used for page/magazine layout
Photoshop Elements - is just basically a simplified photo editor. Good for grannies useless for most other people. Plus all the same things can be achieved with photoshop.
Premiere Pro - Is a video editting suite and certainly isn't for the novice. So no point in downloading unless this is your field. Stick to a youtube editting program

Finally as everyone is reporting the links are hit and miss due to the servers crashing. My advice download a download manager such as jdownloader. Copy the links in the opening post (only the ones you need) and they will automatically go into this program and then download at the full capacity of your internet speed.

I have just finished downloading the CS suite links. I will test them and see how they work and post later. (hoping to god they do not **** up my genuine version of CS5.)

As posted several times, this was a mistake by Adobe, they weren't releasing CS2 for free - they just made a version of it that does not require re-activation so that those people who already owned it could reinstall without needing to contact their defunct activation servers.

If you download and install this without a valid license you are essentially pirating it - you might as well go on TPB and download the latest version. CS2 is pretty gimped running on anything later than XP.

I have got it instaled OK on Windows 8 64 Bit. I ran the executable that you download from Adobe as administrator (right click the exe file and select "Run as administrator). This unpacked the required files to a folder on the desktop. When it asked if I wanted to install the software I clicked no and then went to Desktop\Adobe\Audition 3.0\Adobe Audition 3.0 and then ran Audition 3.0 Setup.exe as administrator. This installed it ok.

The EXE file is the installer 'bootstrap' utility, and the 7Z file contains the software package itself (the resources and the full installation program). You need all files in the same folder, Run the EXE file and follow the instructions.

Windows 7 is totally unsupported so you'll be on your own.
