Tesco mobile are now doing family perks. So if you have at least two SIMS on your account (I have mine and my wifes) you can choose a top up for free.
I've got for £12.50, 500mins, 5000 txt and 500Mb so can chose a perk of an extra 150 mins, 250Mb or 500 mobile mins.
I'll prob go for the data, but the wife will prob go for the mobile mins. It's a one month contract and they use O2.
Not sure if you get bigger perks if you are on a more expensive contract.
As an aside. The customer services and setup has so far being really good.
You can also register a clubcard and get points every month depending how much your bill is. So i'll get points on at least £25 per month.
PLEASE DO NOT EXPIRE. THIS IS STILL A VALID DEAL.

Yep. I did it this morning. Just log in to your account and click the family perk link. You'll need to set a perk for each SIM on the account.

Is it possible to merge accounts? We have 2 different accounts, although both are using the same debit card for payment.
r1mmm3r
21 Jun 12#8
As far as I know the only thing that matters is the payment. If the same person (card) is paying for both accounts then they should be able to merge them. I'm not sure though so you'll have to ring them.
If they say no you could always cancel your contracts and set them up again as joint ones. Sounds like a hassle but the perks might make it worth it.

We have to accounts with them, both are in my wifes name but I am paying for my bill and she is for hers. When I tried to do it online it does not gives option to add perks. Is it worth ringing them up. We both are on SIM only contracts. I am on SIM only 30 days while my wife have a SIM only 12 months contract as she was getting more minutes by siging for 12 month. Will it be possibe to add perks on our accounts?
r1mmm3r
21 Jun 12#10
I guess they
I guess they only assume you are family if both SIMs are on the same account. It might be worth ringing them and asking them to merge accounts but i'd imagine that the same person has to pay for both SIMs.

well I just tried to do it and although I have the option to add family perks it actually shows new allowance the same as the old allowance? seems there's a ceiling on this :disappointed:

22 Jun 12#21
Each SIM can have it's own perk. So I've gone for an extra 250Mb of data on my SIM and my wife has gone for extra mins on hers. I won't be able to use any of my wifes extra mins though. And she won't get any of my extra data.
Hope that answers your question.

They have been great with us and i've been with tesco for 2 years now.

I think the £10 500mins/unlimited texts/500Mb tarriff is 12 months. I've got the same on a 1 month deal but pay £12.50.
I might switch to the 12 month deal soon but just wanted to be sure that I got a decent signal first.

Yep, I got my son his first sim only deal to go with mine. I got him a £7.50 one month deal 250 mins and 5000 texts. Added on 250 mb family perk to both his and mine. Used the deal to keep the contract as short as possible 30 day contract both. You never know a better deal might be available soon, easy to switch!

I'm on the monthly contract too. But to be honest Tesco have been that good, price, customer service, signal and account management, that I might go onto a 12 month deal to save even more cash. I'm dead happy with them so it'd have to be a really good deal to get me to move.

I second that on the Customer Service and price,I did look elsewhere after the second service outage this year, but decided to stay based on Customer service. TBH, I do not use half of my minutes or a 10th of my texts on a monthly basis. Will keep looking, but peace of mind is not worth forgoing for a £2.50 or so saving a month

Couldn't agree more. Before I settled on Tesco I tried virgin, T-mobile and O2 and whilst Tesco opperate on the O2 network they still seem to have a better signal. and customer service is better than anyone I've ever been with for mobile phones. Although Orange were OK.

When he queried it with them on Twitter, they replied with this:

This isn't a new deal really - We have been using it for about 6 months or more, and I believe it was around for some time before that. But I suppose a good heads up for those who didn't know about it anyway. And for the person who asked about the allowance being spread between the two numbers, its not - you can each select a different 'Perk' and the full allowance is given to that number.

4 Mar 13#51
Sending back to Tesco for repair...Tesco won't repair it...they'll send it on to the manufacturer....or a representative of them....so it'll cross borders...and take ages...but that's true for any phone network.

This deal has been around for a while now - I remember hearing about it last August. I wonder why Tesco haven't extended the excellent Customer Service that many have mentioned here though to their instore CS. Heat added btw as it is a good deal and worth the post for the people who were unaware.
EDIT - ha ha! Just noticed that this deal was posted over 8 months ago!!!!! This site cracks me up sometimes.

It's still a valid deal though is it not? The site would be worse if the deal was reposted as a new deal would it not?
It shouldn't have been expired in the first place. It would have remained on the site for people to find using the search (many people don't included expired deals) and thus continue to be useful for people.

I only spotted this today (3rd March 2013) so am very pleased as I didnt realise both my daughters accounts could have a 'family perk' I use Tesco specifically because its one of teh few companies that allow both accounts to be capped, otherwise my teens would run me up a bill beyond the £15 set sim only 250 minutes, 5000 textx 500mb internet. Its not the cheapest deal, but for me - its the safest!

I'm looking to order two new phones. Do I have to place an order for 2 phones or can I do it separately?
I'm just thinking about topcashback. Does anybody know if I order 2 phones will I get cashback for both contracts?
Thanks

You can do it separately. The only rules I know of is that both have to be purchased by the same person using the same card (but it might not even matter if the card is different).
