Potentially interested, but surely removing the rust, giving a little primer, and repainting would result in a much better job? Only asking - never used this.

Yes it would. Even this "direct to rust" stuff wont bypass the need for a rub down with some alu-ox paper. I would just do it the normal way.

Just what i have been looking for to paint the rusted gate. Has anyone used this? Is it any good? As akexuk has mentioned will it not be better to remove the rust and apply this stuff? What would be best to do this? What do you all recommend?
Can anyone recommend treatment for a minor rust on a motorbike frame? Would this stuff do?

This will do the job, ensure surface is clean and dry before application, Id use it on my 750, but my GPZ900R is too precious for this...

when using Hammerite as long as you use a wire brush to remove the loose and flaking material 1 or 2 coats depending on the condition on the metal you are painting will produce a decent job.
from a tradesman point of view i would prefer to use combicolor which comes in hammered, smooth and satin finish. this product is easier to apply won't sag and can be thinned with white spirit unlike hammerite

go to a bacon bros/leyland paints outlet and they will sell you some proper stuff that will last. its worth the extra few pounds.

Agreed, Hammerite does the job but not very well and it's oil based so no good for engines, oil tanks etc...
Rustoleum is the stuff to try - really good paint!

I'd just like to ask for a link from all the posters who have found this as the 'normal price', or found it cheaper elsewhere?
All the shops I have checked are more expensive than this, most being double the price.
It is NOT the same price on fleabay either,the ones that are cheaper are 250ml NOT 500ml like this.
Searching by BIN and lowest first the cheapest I could find was £9.38 delivered.
