Jesus what is wrong with you cutting the public services down? If your job involves you saving someone's life by intervention or care then a few quid off of a bit of food is a nice perk. Those complaining the fire, police or nhs don't deserve this, next time you may be serving in a shop or working in an office think yourself lucky that, unlike them, you wont have to deal with someone being injured or killed, maybe even you, before they finish their day.
Many of us are of the "walk on by" culture, not having the guts to help someone hurt in the street, let alone having to tell their family their child has been killed. Yes they chose that job, because thankfully some are selfless and brave enough to step up where others would only care for their own safety before others. You're not much better than those who throw stones at ambulances...

I used to work for a well known bank and they had a very large system of very good nationally negoiated discounts which if posted on here no one would bat an eyelid.
Now I am a frontline Police officer doing a job I love but finding increasing hostility from the public,, the goverment, even our own bosses. We don't have a fraction of the perks I had in my old job but people resent us having those. Further we work shifts of up to 10hours plus and the looks I get if I buy a sandwhich in the supermarket. Do you really resent me sitting down and eating for a few minutes knowing I might not get chance to finish my sandwhich? I drive an emergency vehicle at speed through traffic safely to quickly respond to a call for help. Do you me want to do that hungry? Often we do but it would be nice to get support from the public when we sit down and eat not hostility.
I have no malice toward those eating during a break.
Despite the goverments attempts it is still the best job in the world.
Yes we do eat Pizza although we have not for ages we do not get the 50% mentioned here. The Two for Tuesday is better deal for us. Are we wrong for using a deal reserved for the public?

Nicely put. I really don't understand what happened to the relationship between the public and the emergency services. Have a look at town hall bosses pay rates honestly and compare to emergency services pay. I have been in my job for 30 years. Seen others paid more that me in the boom years. Never moaned. Oh BTW I make my own pizza. Ask at the bakery in ASDA for fresh yeast and they give it to you free! That's a perk for everyone if you can be bothered to make your own.

A worthy deal for the beat bobbies, nurses, ambulance drivers, firefighters etc. Pity it is a blanket deal for these services. Still the overpaid DCI's, GP's, NHS managers etc can use the heated seats of their Merc's and BMW's to keep the pizza warm on the way home.

I remember I worked in Subway and the cops used to come in and ask for Police Discount (I think it was 50% too). I used to claim to have absolutely no knowledge of it and charge them full price. I work for the NHS and i do not get paid any extra for working weekends which i work most of on a rota basis, im not on a huge salary either so some of the comments on here are really unfair, people in public service are getting the brunt of the recession and having all their benefits taken away, so as for big fat pensions i doubt anyone except the directors will be getting anythig fat the front line workers get nothing so this is a nice deal and something i may take up next time i order a pizza thanks
