What kind of ID? Will a Smartcard do (as with Nando's)?

WHAT!? I've tried using the Smartcard at different Nando's and none of them take it! :disappointed:

That was a fair question by nt1311, fairyfly. I have over five NHS ID cards.
It's actually franchise dependent and they don't always give 50%, some like in London only give 20% which is still generous. I use my smartID card but have been able to use my standard hospital card

the **** at my local branch (kingstanding, birmingham) over the phone said he'll accept and give 30% off but when i got down there said its only available on full price items i.e. not meal deals.

That was exactly what I was going to ask. Will they combine this with other offers? If not, you may be better off taking up the other offer. Or not as the case may be.

I always get 20% discount with the smartcard....It used to be advertised on the smartcard promos site, although not sure whether it still is. I've been happily getting discount in a number of cities for years.

This offer isnt new and has been on for a long time in our local dominos.

takeaway pizzas are extremely bad for you. Make your own as much healthier, fresh ingredients, no frozen dough and cost a tenth of the price

11 Aug 101#19
Good grief, people... just cos there's an offer for something like this do you really assume NHS staff are going to gorge themselves 7 days a week on pizza? Crikey... my wife's a nurse and we make use of this about once every three months or so. It's just a nice fringe benefit from time to time. Freakin' health nazis...
csiman to spoonofmilk
11 Aug 10#27
fair enough that you see this as a fringe benefit, but dominos have 50% off offers on permanently for everyone. Just search HUKD to see what I mean. Shows how much they make off people who pay full price tbh and how much it really costs to make one of their pizzas (less than a quid each I bet).

Yes, and just because we work for the NHS we have to be whiter than white. Pizza is NOT bad for you, once in a while, just like most things - everything in moderation.

Although I think it is taking the mick for NHS staff to be SEEN given pizza offers - Dominos don't use frozen dough. Its fresh and so are most of the ingredients.
Avoid the meats like pepperoni and beef - choose vegetarian or chicken. And opt for the Delight cheese which is lower in fat.
I saw something on TV where there were burger king restaurants inside the hospital itself. This is truly unacceptable and is in total contradiction to the non-stop bullsh*t coming out of medical officers about what to eat.

Ok some of the people on here just stop and take a step back. It is NOT the NHS offering this discount it is dominos so get off your high horse. Most people who work for the NHS are educated enough on health issues to know what you should and shouldnt eat and that you can eat what you want pretty much in moderation so we dont need your preaching. Lastly NHS staff are generally are not on great pay so a little discount on products here and there is very welcome.
Cant believe some people seriously think if you work for the NHS you shouldnt eat any fast food at all, get real.

I work for the CQC and our badges do not say NHS on them even though we are offically classed as NHS, would this be ok?
We are able to join the NHS discount scheme and have NHS pensions ect.

tried this years ago (pretty sure this is a re-re-re-repost) they looked at me like i was an idiot, tried 2 stores, they obviously dont make enough money selling a quids worth of ingredients for £15, good luck getting discount.

They tend to give 50% off in my local one all the time to everyone (leaflets through the door etc). Its not too bad once in a while, but really its about the price it should be anyway, their normal prices are crazy and i dont think i'd ever order from them without 50% off.

Used this all the time up until a couple of weeks ago, as did all my mates, they never checked ID ever for delivery, said on phone they would need to see it but driver never bothered. Just as well seeing as dont have any :stuck_out_tongue:
Think they've got wise to it now and have slapped a minimum order value of £40 on it.

My sister's a paramedic. I drive for Pizza Hut in the evenings. They also do the NHS discount as do most other places including cinemas.
So yeah - I was curious to see which company was offering the deal via the RSS feed because Pizza Hut's discount is pure flim-flam. It's 25% discount for NHS staff, but it's 25% off collections *anyway* so makes no difference.
What's your excuse?
