This offer is available again on their web-site until the end of August therefore it's no longer expired. Maybe it can be un-expired or re-posted?
I just booked myself a Vectra for a family holiday for 18 days - bargain!
I independently found this same deal was still available for August via the travelsupermarket.com web-site. Heat and rep added for the original post!

I've just hired a 15-seater minibus from a small company called AVR in Nottingham, for European use, for £387 for 5 days. The next best quote was £555; it is sometimes worth calling every company in the list...!

I booked out of hours collection from Southampton Airport (19:00) at an extra cost of £25.
I ordered a Mid Size (e.g. Astra).
Email comms Good!
Out of Hours mobile number for Branch Manager provided Good!
Arrived half an hour early! Good!
06 Vectra arrived Fine
Looked around exterior of the car, very scratched, lots of chips. BAD
Looked around interior of the car, Dirty cieling, mud scuffs everywhere, water stains on seats, ink stain on seat, broken passenger visor, cellotape! Yeah Cellotape holding together the plastic by the rear view mirror/light. SHOCKING!
Refused to take the car and contacted branch manager who promises a car to be delivered to my house today at 19:00 instead. Good!
£35 taxi home. BAD!
No show this evening! BAD!
No call or email to explain that they couldnt make it. BAD
Called out of hours number and spoke to Branch manager who said he hadnt been in all day hence couldnt say why but obviously they couldnt get a car to me! BAD
I complain and I am promised a car to be delivered to me by the manager tomorrow at 19:00 with a price adjustment for my taxi cost and my inconvenience. SATISFIED
So lets see what happens tomorrow.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt if I get a good car at a heavy discount tomorrow.

Most Scenics are only 5 seater, I doubt you'd find a 7 seater one for that price, also if your travelling any distance with luggage for all then you'll really need a full size mpv, and even then some of them have a pretty small boot.
Good luck!

No, it's actually for me and my family, They recently had a 4th child, and the car is now too small, we do both have cars anyway, but on holiday especially double parking is expensive, as is double diesel costs,
The buying a cheap one seems to be the best idea, and then selling it on afterwards seems the best idea, there are a few Renault Megane Scenics on Autotrader for around £1000

I can't explain that rental; my best bet, and something that happened to me, is that the employee may have pre-written the ticket/contract to be counted in the 2pm sweep of what vehicles are on-rent that day, and then have manually written the driving licence details on later & added them to the computer system.
It is only then that any errors/mistakes become apparent...
As for the congestion charge, your best best would be to lose the credit/debit card you paid for the rental with, so Enterprise can't run it. Then either ignore them or wait for a further letter and negotiate with them.
As for the £35 charge, it is essentially a similar question to the bank charges hoo-har at the moment. The charge has to be reflective of the cost to the company of processing the admin. To be fair, all they do is read the letter from the Congestion Chargers, dig out the rental ticket from the branch/head office, and send you a standard letter. Not £35-worth, surely?

Does anyone know the best place to hire a car with a baby's car seat ?
I found a decent deal with Hertz yesterday (£175 for 9 days car hire, then subtract 10% QuidCo) but Hertz's add-on cost of hiring a baby's seat for those 9 days was going to be £56 + tax = £65 !!
I want to hire it, not buy it !!
(I'm flying in from abroad, so need it straight from the airport, unfortunately. It's either hire one, or try to check it in, on my EasyJet flight.. sigh.)

...and then get nicked for no insurance, plus hit for the full costs of any repair or damage even if completely not at fault, and probably get nicked for stealing it cos the "somene else" will have to deny letting you drive it... :w00t:

i know enterprise rent cars from 21, i used to get a few at uni couple of years ago and they were the only ones who did rent to under 25's, but not sure if they would give you a seven seater.

I got a Nissan Micra from Enterprise (im 21 and passed last August). I didn't think I would get it as the terms and conditions of Enterprise state that I must have a license for over a year, which I didn't...
All in all, the car was great (1.4l plus it was an automatic).
For a seven seater, I think you will struggle to get one as its a different 'class' and you need to be over a certain age.

I assume it's for you and your mates, why not just buy an old shed of ebay and then sell it again afterwards. Don't forget to get breakdown recovery though!
Alternatively, if any of your mates drive you might just have to rent 2 cars.

Pft... they require you to have held a license for 2 YEARS before letting you rent a car.

As an Ex-Enterprise Branch Manager (one of many!), I'm sorry to say that this won't be possible. Enterprise are generally considered to be one of the most lax rental companies, but their rules state that an under-25 year-old can rent anything up to a 1.4
The likelyhood of getting an MPV - or even a Zafira with that vehicles' 5+2 seating - is effectively nil. The liability to the rental company is just far too great. That is even true if you try to sort out your own insurance, as the company will still view a potential total loss of the vehicle as admin time, time that the vehicle isn't earning rental fees, (sometimes) bad PR...
From experience, I thought I was the best driver in the world at 17; 18; 19; 21; 25 etc... still wrote off cars regularly...!
You're just far too great a risk. My advice is to try the smaller local companies out there, as the big boys (Alamo/National - which has just been bought out by Enterprise - Hertz - 1car1 - LCR - easyCar (?) won't touch you with the proverbial barge pole.
I'm sorry to be such a naysayer, but I thought I'd give it straight!
