LXDirect has Adidas 'adi racer leather' trainers for £19.99
This is a cheap price for this trainer and retails for £50+ in JJB. If you can use LXDirect coupon codes, the price can be as little as a tenner delivered.

LX have a nasty habit of letting you think you have used a coupon with success, you may even get a confirmation with the discount taken off, but when the order is dispatched they charge full price to your card and treat the discount as a seperate card refund...if your lucky. If not you just never see the credit applied to the card and they dont get in touch to tell you the discount coupon didnt stick either.
Unless the discount coupon was yours to use then you dont have much grounds for complaint either.
All your left with as options then is to return the goods as unsuitable or bite the bullet and keep them at the pre discount price.
You wont get too many deal seekers admitting to having not got the discounts to work either, they tend to keep quiet and kick the cat:roll:
johnnypanic
8 Jul 06#29
Thanks MikeT, unfortunately no cat to kick here:grin:
I'll just wait and see if they're worth keeping at £22.50.

As MikeT says LXdirect/Littlewoods are tough ones to know what's happening. In normal scenario they have acknowledgement on initial receipt and charge your card the full amount with the discount as a separate credit transaction shortly after. In the bad situation they have acknowledgement on initial receipt and charge your card the full amount but then no discount shows up. Point is that if it goes pear shaped you only know after you've got the goods in hand already so at the least you're looking at returning them. Always give them a call if it doesn't show up, they are really spotty on success at getting the code applied if they don't think it's for you.
miniman
8 Jul 06#31
The vouchers say that the codes are intended for new customers so if you are a new customer then surely LXdirect will have to honour the codes and give you your discount.
Confiteor
8 Jul 06#32
Well I've been sent a confirmation email stating the total price as £7.50, and I took screen grabs while I was ordering.
So if they try to charge me £22.50 they have a fight on their hands. That is NOT the amount I authorised them to take from my card, and that's surely the most important thing.
If they remove the discount but go ahead with the transaction, there will be trouble!
golfturbo to Confiteor
8 Jul 06#34
Had my confirmation through and they have removed the discount. When processing the purchase I authorised a debit to my account of £7.50 not £22.50......

Does anyone know where the discount codes originally came from? i.e in an email, on a flyer etc. Just wanted to know if the codes were released for general use or for personal use.
Admin
8 Jul 06#38
The ones I've gotten usually come in with a mail out or catalogue. I think some people also get them emailed though. They are all for general use in the sense that they are not one code designed just for one individual. They are not for general use in the sense that LX will say if you didn't get it directly then you shouldn't be using it. I think they have certain codes that they release to certain accounts that fit certain criteria. So let's say if you spent £2000 at LX last year but haven't spent anything this year, maybe they would send you a big discount code like £25 off in the hope of getting you to spend again. That's more or less speculation on my part but I know it's the case with Tesco and why they get so wound up when the codes are shared (blows their marketing strategy and metrics to bits).

I set up 2 new accounts one in my name one in my wifes and ordered one pair on each account , my confirmation says £22.50 , my wifes says £7.50 , I just called them and they said that on arrival of the goods call them and they will do the adjustment.
edi
9 Jul 06#40
As long as the codes are not abused I see no issues with using them. I've had experienced both situations: Code accepted, charged full and discount refunded to my card. Also, code accepted, charged in full and discount refunded, only after a call to their customer service.

Just received both pairs this morning, and both invoices (me and the wife's) show £19 a pair. Looked at my bank statement on-line and nothing has come out as yet. What's the best thing to do now..? For some reason, on my order, they took the full amount and (after calling) say they will at some stage credit me with the £15 :disappointed:
Considering they don't expect the item to ship for a month, this seems a tad unfair (I ordered Zoo Keeper for the DS for £8.50)! Still, my email says £8.50 so I consider myself covered, plus my account is marked for £15 discount.
