Try using chrome browser with chrome eraser extension installed and run it to clear *all* you crap
from previous visits and cookies and the like..
Switch your DSL/ADSL router off and back on again after above workaround
Log back into ebay and paypal, make sure you have at least £10 in clear funds on
your paypal account balance [send yourself a tenner from your bank or top up card]
and then try your purchase again ;-)

Terrible Customer Service all round really. I'm currently in the middle of a web chat with them. Ii was lucky enough to get another code to use, but it would appear that the code was actually set to expire an hour before their email stated it would expire! I called ebay back for the third time after being told on the 31st March to wait for 6th April for an answer.
6th april arrived and they said to wait two weeks for an answer
Just called again yesterday after no response again and the lady I spoke to was much more helpful but told me that no claim had been raised on my behalf...
Apparently there are still 300 or so people in progress for refunds so now I have to wait again while they sort their lives out.
Not a happy bunny and all faith in ebay is gone. Still half expect them to refuse my refund but I wont be going down without a fight

O my, I should have known eBay would screw me. I had almost accepted they screw you as a seller.
But it seems even as a buyer you are fair game!
Bought item with this voucher then item arrived not as described so seller offered me partial refund. I spoke to eBay customer service and asked if I could accept this and agent told me he needed to open a case.
I was not sure as not very eBay savy but he did and the next email from seller was here is your label return for refund.
Obviously now I can't buy the item with the 50 UKP off and eBay say well we MIGHT give you credit and sorry for the agent not explaining by opening the case the buyer will ask for return and refund. Even thou I told agent I didn't want a refund just partial refund or replacement.
I should have learned from trying to sell something which the buyer returned broken after using it for 4 hours but eBay decided it was my fault.
I swear that's it really really never again to use ebay;-)

i have a code to be used before 24/4
i havent read this whole thread but know there have been problems.
i didnt try and use the original code.
can anyone give me a quick summary? if i use the code to purchase an item and enter it at check out via paypal will i still somehow be charged the full amount?
i have my eye on an item that with the discount would happily pay but not happy to pay full price.if the chances are high ebay will f*ck me over don't think i'll bother. .... just really want that item and my inner voice says "try the code" i cba endless convos with ebay to be reimbursed.
is it worth it? does the code actually work? do i have to put it in twice once on the ebay page & once on the paypal page?

Same problem here. Called up last time and said I would get a voucher around the 6th. Called up and chased again they said that they will not be issuing the voucher and that the voucher was correctly applied to one item and that they were happy with that. They have escalated with their marketing team but said it is unlikely anything will come out of it. Wonder If I can report this . You cannot charge an amount higher to someone's card/ account than the amount that appears on checkout I believed...

16 Apr 16#2716
I've no idea.
I had to chase them up to confirm the refund after a lack of reply to my first query.
The first replacement voucher would appear to have been automatically issued regardless of my email.
My entire basket didn't go through on that replacement voucher so I emailed and was given the "nothing we can do" response. As the no -voucher stuff didn't go through at all; I'm not too concerned.
This one simply appeared in my account, so I'm assuming enough people had issues again to do another batch.

Please be aware that your payment can still be reversed, (e.g. if it is subject to a chargeback), even after you have sent the item to your buyer. Well, after chasing eBay (a lot), and after already cancelling my eBay order (for which the CUK20 discount didn't get deducted, despite being applied), eBay have just credited my PayPal account with the 20% value. Wish it was free to send the items back for a refund as I WOULD at least then I would have got my refund at the full price I paid , they really should be doing automatic refunds but it shows the GREED of the big companies , anyway I am letting it go as I can't be arsked for £4.22 , they can stick it and will stick with Amazon more now as they have always sorted out any problem for me and they can do free returns or even collection from home so I would have gone for a refund or sent the items back free of charge if it was from them
I have had more trouble with Ebay and Paypal than I have had with Amazon , their CS are more eager to please and keep you as a customer / keep their reputation but Ebay don't give a sh*t!

I felt a lot of frustration over my code, worth a grand total of £6.87. In the end it all went through smoothly (barring my basket playing up, and double ordering, also a phantom order for 50% of my basket which the seller never saw, and disappeared a few hours later - luckily the seller happily cancelled the order where the code wasn't applied)
EBay shouldn't be offering a new code, they should be refunding those affected, especially in the case of screenshots / proof etc
The code must have cost them millions, presumably with the intention of getting people to spend more on eBay in the future

Also had an email from eBay blaming PayPal, but more specifically that the error occurred because the transaction funding source got split (ie remaining PayPal balance, and then some from Bank account). This is rollocks though, as I know that there were more than adequate funds in the PayPal balance to cover the whole transaction.
This comes after the Live Chat adviser telling me it was because the "seller has cancelled the transaction"....except it was 4 separate sellers, and none of them had any idea there was any transaction in the first place.
Poor show eBay, poor show.

I know problems like this do happen, but its how the company deals with the problem after the event. It all depends on what resolution is offered, how the company deals with those customers who were effected.
Customer service plays a very important part when dealing with these types of problems, ebay have failed hugely, its totally unacceptable.

I finally received my reply, only 3 days late, and this is what they had to say...
Thank you for writing to eBay about the CUK voucher.
I can certainly understand that you are concerned about the CUK voucher. On checking the details I can see that the payment was not successful for the items due to some PayPal issue that's the reason you have not received the discount for it. As the issue was from PayPal's end so we won't be able to reimburse.
Unfortunately we do not have access as those are system generated vouchers. Hence, I'm afraid to inform you that we won't be able to reissue the voucher. For your reference, you can check the link below for the terms and condition of the voucher:
Though this is the case, good thing is that we regularly send a voucher promotion that randomly sent to eBay member. You may be included in one of the future voucher promotion.
I trust that I've explained everything clearly. If you need any more information please get in touch. If you have any further concerns/questions please reply back to us as we’ll continue to keep this discussion open till it is resolved to your satisfaction.
Thank you for choosing eBay! You are a valued member.
Kind regards,
eBay Customer Support.
ebay are blaming PayPal, but it has nothing to do with PayPal, its a ebay system error during the 'Basket' checkout process, the code was doomed right from the start, it was set up incorrectly which effected thousands of customers.
Problems like this do happen, but its how the company deals with the problem after the event. It all depends on what resolution is offered, how the company deals with those customers who were effected, customer service plays a very important part when dealing with these types of problems.

This is probably going to sound irritatingly smug but I had no problems whatsoever, and I don't think I am alone in this. For those of you where something has gone wrong I hope you get it sorted pronto. My biggest beef with eBay is the lack of credit card protection since most deals go via Paypal, a third party, though there is eBay and PayPal protection, twice I have been refunded by eBay by no-show outfits. An auction site still remains a place to get those hard to get articles, just happens that eBay has a monopoly.
somerandomguy
9 Apr 16#2658
The other thing I was thinking about if ebay dont refund the "missing" voucher value is via my credit card. It is more than a bait and switch as they actually showed us the total price to be charged and then took more than that. They didnt switch products or offers to a more expensive thing, just helped themselve to an extra 20%.
If it doesnt get resolved by ebay, im thinking of doing a chargeback for the difference as an unauthorised transaction. the transaction I authorised was 20% less.
Tallyho
8 Apr 162#2636
This can be classed as an " invitation by bait advertising " & is illegal under consumer law.
I suggest you quote this to Ebay & if they do not adhere to the offer conditions report them to Trading Standards.

I haven't had any issues with this deal so I haven't looked into this myself, but...
Has anyone tried emailing the CEO of Ebay UK instead of going through the Customer Service channels if they really are so poor? I had luck using this tactic when resolving an issue with Vodafone before.
You should give a *concise* summary of what happened, say what you were overcharged and how much by, say you're very unhappy with the customer service response you've received so far, maybe use the bit Tallyho mentioned below?
Good luck guys

yes, same to me.
I was promised 3 times that ebay would contact me in order to solve the problem, none happened at all.
today I contacted again and was told another story.
ebay have no initial to contact me at all.
According to them, if I did not receive another replacement voucher then that would be end of story. I was told it should be paypal's fault or server or (me?)
anyway in order to make it sound better, I was told wait for another one(?!)
That is all wrong. I would perfer ebay just let me know right away nothing they could do. But they just keep dragging me along for so long, keep give out wrong information. I feel by doing so, ebay treat customer (at least to me) as a fool.

I use ebay more than 7 years.. I notice the decline started about 3 year ago and since then going from bad to worse. To be fair, a lot more "not so honest" people become ebay members. The last 3 year I had to open at least 3-4 times more cases, than the previous 4.
Instead of trying to improve their feedback system and the way they manage the disputes in order the "good" members been protected and found justice, they start treating everybody as dodgy.
Altought I ve got 100% feedback with more than 1500 transactions and I have won every single dispute I had, their behaviour towards me, when I had to deal with them, was imo totally unacceptable. So I decide to use ebay as less as possible.
I assume other members felt the same way and steer clear too.
Now that they become desperate, try to bring members back with costly promotions that they are not really happy to honour.

I have just been sent this cracker ....

The investigation is still in progress, Were giving you high hopes on this since were able to escalate this issue. Please wait for further update and will keep on monitoring this case for you.

I just wanted to let you know that I have escalated the query regarding the voucher for item # 2220678***** to our promotions team. They have got back to me and let me know that due to the recent voucher issues, there is a bit of a backlog in their queue so it may be into next week when they get back to me. As soon as I hear word from them, I will be in contact to let you know. The reference number for our call is **************

These guys are unbelievable...you hit the pay button on a discounted price, you ve been charged the full price, you have been deceived, and then you have to chase them to get your money back and they still ignore you!
And some people believe that this happened because of the number of the transactions. This is complete nonsense, we are talking about paypal, a platform that manage million transactions every day, theoretically its on the same level of security and bulletproof as the banking platforms/apps.
When you hit the pay button your confirmation is directly tied with the amount shown on the screen, its not possible the voucher to come off and lost somewhere on the way, its such a ridiculous excuse! So many vouchers on hukd everyday, has anybody ever pay the discounted price on the screen and then been charged the full amount??

Been told by eBay that they can not refund the 20% over payment as the "seller has already been sent the funds".
I argued that the 20% was never coming from the sellers cut anyways and that eBay was covering the 20%!
Again I'm told "sorry we can not refund the 20% over payment. Please use this code for 20% off your next purchase". Again I told them I don't want to buy anything else, I just want the 20% honoured on my original purchase as I only authorised the discounted amount and they still took 100% from my bank account!
They are not willing to budge, even though they agree it's their fault!!
Never have I experienced a company so stubborn and unfair! It's really is pathetic.

I suggest ask them to return the item(s) and they should pay the postage...during the endless chat with their cs, they told me that I have the option to receive the items and return them if I don't get the discount in the end...
I didn't want to get into that hassle that why I ask from the seller, from the very beginning, to wait for dispatch and I said to them that I just gonna cancel the transaction... I got refund in the end but really I wouldn't like to go through all that again...

I, like many people used the code correctly and used a laptop. However I am still waiting for a new discount code. How are Ebay doing the decent thing? (in my humble opinion) maybe you could ask ebay again to look into your case (best: if you have any proof of the purchase. I save the pages and print screen. if no, just tell them the whole story)
when I approached ebay live chats, one of the officer didn't want to listen or deal with my case and he kept saying I should write letter (only letter accepted, he insisted) to their complain department instead.
or try another live chat as you may find different response again. Maybe ask the live chat refer you to the 'special team' for complicated case.
it worth's a try as in the best case: they might give you some courtesy code to use for future.

7 Apr 16#2628
sorry as I don't agree with you
I don't know how you get this assumption, to me I conclude a lot of ebay users get affected.
I myself did follow all the steps and ebay failed it's duty and I use PC not mobile.
And for all I read, people do all right by the book.
so I have to challenge how you sum up it's ebay user's fault not ebay itself:|
if ebay did improve it's failing system, it benefit to all of us, I don't understanding why you hate such improvement. Don't forget if you would still using ebay, you could also have great chance to be one fo the victim too! What's wrong with you?
cb-uk
7 Apr 16#2626
Why? The code worked perfectly for the vast majority of users, as you'll see from the comments in the first 90% of so of this thread.
However, as with everything, a tiny number of people couldn't get the code to work because they either didn't follow the instructions correctly (their own fault) or used a app/mobile device (eBay's fault). The good news is that eBay are doing the decent thing and refunding everyone if the fault is due to eBay. This seems a pretty reasonable and fair approach.

7 Apr 16#2624
maybe we should all ask ebay to change the system
right now, people pay the discount money but only could 100% until we open the paypal transcation details
we need a improved system: when something not right (ebay code not applying), we could stop the check out
right now, lots of us get caught up as we never sure how much we pay.
I would send this to ebay and I hope more people would let ebay know how poor their system are .
we all want discount (as every penny counts) and I think ebay would still do promotion again in the future. so help ourselves and push ebay to improve their system.

I ordered two things in a single transaction. A GFX card for £219.99 and PSN card for £32.99. I used the code on the whole transaction. The GFX card order failed to go through since eBay was melting from so much traffic. I spent hours trying to sort it, no use.
Contacted support the next day, they assured me they will deal with it and sort me out. Great finally.

Called eBay again tonight after no news.
Instead of the nice Irish folks I woke to the other day ended up connected to an Asian call centre.
Lady was less than helpful, offered me another voucher when I clearly asked for a return of the amount missing from the last voucher.
Then when I revised that she tried to suggest they had no record of me using the voucher and therefore I was lying!
Eventually I think the message got through and hopefully I should be contacted within 14 days, but not impressed with the hoops I'm having to jump through for their mistakes.

I raised the issue with both paypal and ebay.
ebay have been helpful when speaking o them directly but in terms of following up their promises not so good.
As for paypal, well... Everyone with half a brain knows @gmail and @googlemail are the same domain names. Apparently not the case with paypal. I registered my email address years ago when it was googlemail and now it's gmail but both work the same. Apparently that was enough cause for them to reject my request for help due to "data protection issues", load of cobblers.
Will be calling ebay tonight with a less forgiving tone. There's no excuse for bad customer service these days.

Yes, they've taken the full amount from me despite the order details within eBay itself saying that the 20% had been removed. The item itself has now arrived and I don't want to use it until I know that eBay will honour the voucher. Very frustrating. I've contacted them once via chat and now 2 phone calls and awaiting another call back as it has been escalated further. Annoying also that this is a common problem that no one at eBay I've spoken to has seemingly been aware of. As someone said before, it's the waiting that's the most frustrating. It's their error, they should remedy it asap! I wouldn't have bought the thing without this discount code.

The difference in customer service is quite appalling. Voucher showing as applied, payment was taken for full amount and no sign of the voucher having gone through despite it showing as successful prior to payment.
Called ebay and was told to expect contact by 6th April, if no contact by then, to call them back.
Why should I have to wait and see? I want to be confident that I will receive a resolution as should everyone else who has called to complain.
Not feeling full of optimism about the "resolution" that may or may not arrive but fingers crossed.

I get that, but it also means that the system doesn't work in such a way that it can guarantee the summary/price/voucher as displayed is actually what goes through.
If it had happened that the voucher could not always be applied, or otherwise displayed an error, then it would actually be more reassuring.

My experience with the first code demonstrates a problem with this though;
I entered the code; it was accepted. PayPal stated it was applied.

Today Ive got a message saying that the voucher didn't applied and they can do nothing about it!
Of course, when I checked out the discount was clearly visible, etc.
Anyway,I had contact the seller from the beginning, explaining the situation, and asking to wait for my reply before dispatch. He was very helpful and understanding, and as he said he also dont really like dealing with them. Now I have to ask him to cancel it.

Hello [redacted],
Our coupon offer on Thursday 31st March was very popular and due to the high demand we were unable to fulfil the discount at that time.
We're sorry for any disappointment this may have caused.
We'll be refunding you the amount of [redacted] directly to the PayPal account that's linked to your eBay account within 14 days. This is the discount amount that should have been applied. The coupon was valid for one transaction, if you tried to use the coupon more than once we will apply the discount to the highest value transaction you made on the day.

As stated by others it looks like many of the issues were caused by using mobile apps or the mobile version of the website
One thing I have learned as a buyer & seller on eBay....the apps are all too often buggy & useless....just check out the community forums....99% of listing problems tend to be app related....maybe that's down to eBay....or maybe because people insist on using their fashion accessory phone/tablet rather than a traditional PC/Laptop with a real browser

Placed 2 orders via 2 different accounts. First was placed for 4 x items from same seller at 8.30 last night. Code accepted and paypal shows the discount was applied, with the net amount being funded from bank after £48 discount.
Second order (Laptop from Argos) was made around 9.30pm and again, code accepted and discount given, with Paypal showing the net amount funded from the bank after £39.99 discount.
For both, the usual confirmation emails were received from both Ebay and Paypal and no other emails since apart from those confirming dispatch of both items.
However, strangely enough, both Paypal accounts show payment was made around 1am this morning (1 April), although they were of course made at 8.30pm and 9.30pm respectively last night. Weird.
Anyway, they do both appear to have gone through ok with only the net amount being taken from the bank (although we haven't actually checked our bank accounts - we're just assuming all's ok). Unless of course other people have had the same as us i.e., everything pointing to the discount being applied (emails, Paypal account) and the NET amount being taken from their bank/credit card, but their bank/credit card accounts actually showing the full amount taken?

One purchase - £250 value.
Apply code - £50 discount. *Great!*
Purchase/confirm....
A paypal popup "You have sent £250 to Mr Igotyourmoneyhahaha"

Check paypal transaction details. No discount code.
Check ebay transaction details. No discount code.
I've checked the last few pages of comments - can anyone say that this has happened to them? (AFTER checking to make sure the transaction details). I have a few paypal issues before actually paying (checkout fails to load, ebay - "you need to start checkout again", discount applying then disappearing) but the time the payment went through it has the discount right there on the screen!!

Just a hunch here, but I bet 95% of the people who didn't get their discount applied (or only got it applied to one item when purchasing multiple items) were using a mobile or tablet to visit eBay - in which case, it's probably a software glitch on eBay's part.
So, if you failed to get your discount correctly applied, were you using a mobile or tablet?

I had the same problem. 10 item order with 10 items showing in order details. 9 out of 10 went through and showed in PayPal. Contacted eBay on live chat and the person (who did not give the impression they knew what they were talking about) said that the order had not gone through, that I wouldn't be charged and not to worry the item will drop off my order page soon. But if I was happy to reorder I could - sans 20% discount which they said there was nothing they could do about.
I called PayPal who said the transaction had been declined by my bank. I found this surprising considering every other payment went through and I had a backup payment method on the account. But at least I knew what the problem was and knew no payment would go through. In the end I reordered with someone else's PayPal account. Good luck!

"I had multiple errors trying to check out a basket of 8 items. Code not applied so tried multiple times and got to the order screen that showed the discount so tried pay now and got more errors - can't pay with Paypal, experiencing technical issues, critical error, payment pending. Eventually went through Paypal at the undiscounted value. Didn't get a confirmation email from eBay until after 10pm although the order completed before and it was for the undiscounted value. Been on the phone to eBay CS and they're passing all these to the marketing people who are considering a mass refund of the discount value. I'm not optimistic - I have nothing that shows the discounted value, I was too shocked when the code worked to take a screen grab and too busy trying to get the payment through. I'll probably not cancel, it was all stuff I needed and would have bought anyway but I pointed out to eBay CS that it's hardly fair to the sellers to drag this out - my stuff is from 6 different sellers and if I cancel or refuse delivery, that's a lot of aggro that eBay has brought on them."
My issue ^^^^. eBay just called me back. The code wasn't applied to my purchases (no sh1t Sherlock!) so they're not going to refund the discount. However, they're cancelling the equivalent amount of seller's fees from the balance on my seller's account so I'm happy with that.

I spoke to eBay chat support about how a bunch of the items I ordered have sort of vanished and not gone through. I did have one item go through but the rest were stuck on pending. I ended up getting a pretty stock response: "Our 20% off offer on March 31st proved to be hugely popular with customers. Due to huge demand, a small number of customers paying with PayPal might have had problems with their coupon. We are currently investigating this issue and hope to communicate back to affected customers in the coming days. If you haven’t heard back from eBay by Wednesday April 6th, 2016 please contact us again." so fingers crossed.

hi, thanks to share this. I have the same things as well. Order go through (have the check out success page but saying pending).
Then only one item show on paypal (payment completed) nothing else (not even anything show on pending column),
At first, every item on that order shows pending around midnight then all disappeared except that one item completed shown on paypal (with the 20% discount).
I live chat early with ebay this morning and she already jumped to the conclusion that was my fault and Paypal as well.
I did not argue and politely pointed out that why no normal ebay purchase confirmed email (even that one go through and is now dispatched already), why items was supposed pending and disappeared.
She just kept saying the old tales and I closed the chat as I need to go to work.
So I am very glad to hear from your experience and I am going to raise this issue to ebay (don’t say all is my fault – I have to shout to them this time).

Just to keep you guys in the loop I have just received a call back from the eBay Call Centre Manager and he has confirmed that after investigation, they have concluded that no matter whether the 'Pay after delivery' option has been selected or not, one would still be eligible to receive the discount.
They have asked me to send a screen-shot to them which shows their website with errors on voucher entry to investigate but confirmed they will not use this as evidence of me not using the code properly and have escalated to Level 2 support for resolution. Will let you guys know of the service number once it's all sorted!

Another thing that will definitely help are the T&Cs of the "Pay After Delivery" option. As their argument is that since you "Pay After Delivery", your payment doesn't fall into the 31st of March, 4pm-10pm time-slot and thus you do not qualify for the offer (which is b*****t anyway as they should have notified us either in the T&Cs of the Voucher or later at the Paypal Checkout). However, here is the interesting part:
Transaction Details (Paypal)
Your bank payment is scheduled for 14 Apr 2016. (Unique Transaction ID xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) PayPal has already paid the seller. We'll debit the payment from your bank 14 days after you purchased the item, on 31 Mar 2016. The payment will show on your bank statement as a PayPal purchase.
How it works.
When you select Pay After Delivery at checkout, we’ll pay the seller instantly – but you won’t pay anything for 14 days, giving you time to receive your item before you pay for it. We’ll send you a reminder email before we debit the money to help you keep track of your payments.

Just had a thought. When I first looked at the code T&Cs, it mentioned the code was valid in specific categories. Now I didn't actually read what those categories were (I suspect like most people) but perhaps the reason some people didn't get the discount is because maybe the code wasn't valid for the category in which the item they bought was advertised?

Well, they've said they will find a resolution to the problem by 6th April, apparently there are lots of people affected by the same issue (credit not applied) and they are investigating what went wrong. I have just finished a 1h30m phone conversation with eBay representatives, supervisor and call-centre manager on this. Waterloo explains this quite accurately, they are suggesting the reason for my being charged the full amount as the fact that I had 'Pay after delivery' activated in my account.
However, I have made a case that both at eBay and Paypal checkouts I have been shown the discounted figure and thus they are breaking the law by charging me a different amount, especially since neither their voucher T&C nor the final Paypal page (where arguably the deferred payment would have been selected) mention anything regarding it.

Really? So people have to "wade through" 4 messages out of almost 3,000? How about you give a similar admonishment to about 1,000 posts by people all saying "The discount hasn't been applied" or "The full amount was charged"? WE ALL KNOW THAT yet people are still repeating it constantly! I'd say THAT was a bigger cause of people "wading through", not 4 posts about a laptop!
Pathetic moaner.

Which laptop is it? The only problem I can think of is drivers. Alternatively you could download the Windows 7 Home Premium ISO from Microsoft or elsewhere, put it onto a USB drive using Rufus, boot the system from the USB and install it that way. Then use the key you have with the DVD.
The laptop should have a recovery partition that you shouldn't remove just incase. If the OS explodes or something you can always go back to Windows 8 that came with it.

Yes I have one of those DVDs which has 3 registration keys with it - the jolly old Win7 Home Premium Family Pack. I remember now that when I installed it on our 2 desktop builds, I had to install XP first, then replace. It was a pain but I managed to get it to work on the two desktops.
Do you think it will be easy enough to format the HD and install XP, then Win7? Or do laptops nowadays come with issues preventing downgrades?
Also, am I right in thinking Win8 was updated to give a similar experience/home screen as Win7?
Cheers.

Not really that confusing, but thanks for the screen shot. They would do the same thing if you for whatever reason had some credit in your PayPal account.
e.g
£5.00 PayPal credit held in account
£50.00 Coupon
£400.28 from credit card or bank
How else could they show a receipt that you've sent the FULL amount to the seller and how the payment was FUNDED?
The exact method was used the last time they had this promotion.

reddragon105
1 Apr 16#2425
This hasn't resolved itself for me yet so I've just been on live chat with eBay - took me over 30 mins to get through, they must be swamped! After giving them a few of the item numbers plus the Paypal transaction for the item that was paid for they checked the order and saw the problem but said the case needs to be escalated to their 'specialised team' and I should hear back from them by the 6th April - that's 5 days! Which is ridiculous considering all I need to do is send a Paypal payment, which was authorised last night. I guess all I can do is wait because I don't want to try ordering the items again because I won't get the 20% discount and might end up paying for them again in 5 days!

I found the item on ebay, full price came up, then there was a box to enter the code, entered code, discount showed up, clicked buy, then asked me to purchase via paypal or credit card, selected paypal, entered paypal login details, logged in, price was showing as the full amount again....
Scrolled to the bottom of that page and there was another box to enter a code, entered code again, then the price changed to the discounted amount and i clicked buy

Not good to read that many people didn't get the discount and were charged the full price and ended up paying it without knowing....
The thing is, the code had to be applied TWICE for some people. Once in ebay and then AGAIN in paypal. The original post wasn't clear on this and i think it caught quite a few people out. I know some people said they only had to enter the code once, but this wasn't the case for me and many others.
I did try and point this out many times last night but the thread moved so fast and people weren't reading back so they got caught out thinking they only had to enter the code once.
Hope you all get it sorted and get refunds etc

I called ebay support this morning after having the discount in my subtotal on my phone, only for it to magically disappear and have the full amount leave my bank account.
Apparently this is a known issue and they have their technical people looking into why some people received the voucher discount when others didn't.
Anyway, I called up this morning and they said they'll be back in touch by the 6th April so I shall wait patiently while they sort themselves out.

1 Apr 16#2418
Thanks elrasho - I was just about to post mine too - it looks exactly like yours (you have to go into the classic look on Paypal) - I bought a washing machine that was £349.99 a couple of tiny things and have £50 discount. The text at the top (and on the main screen you see on Paypal) is the amount sent to the retailer ie regardless of where the funding is from ie part me, part eBay. The key part is the amount deducted from card and mine is showing the correct £300.
I appreciate people are saying they have checked their accounts and the full amount has been taken off and that's definitely not great and I would be raging if it happens to me after all this. To those that have had the full amount deducted can you please recheck your Paypal accounts as above and let us know if it shows the full or discounted amount as per elrasho's great info above?? It will give us all more idea of what's happening ie everyone affected or only some of us (neither option is brilliant obviously!)
Thanks!

This is pretty shocking from ebay, social media is full of people who didn't get the discount. They don't really seem to care!
They should have had the balls to admit there was an issue, and tell people not to worry they will sort it out. Instead I got told the code was still live, so I could order more stuff, and that I should contact all sellers and ask to cancel my orders (some had already been dispatched from china), not even an apology. They also questioned whether of not I had even applied to code! Disgraceful

having a code that expires at 10pm is bad timing, it was for UK only paypal linked ebay accounts, so maybe they should do a 2am finish when most people are asleep.
i struck lucky, but payment was a right hassle, and their will always be sore losers who saw it too late and attempted to execute late on, with these deals use it immediately, otherwise they get pulled, oversubscribed, overwhelmed later in the day

No, it's not a scam. Very very many people, not just on HUKD, got a 20% discount on their purchase. That's not a scam. They (and Paypal) underestimated the demand and the impact on their infrastructure. You can argue that they should have foreseen how popular it would be and whether the systems could cope, but it's not an exact science. They got it wrong - that's still not a scam.
I'm also one of the unlucky ones who got charged full whack but it's cock-up not conspiracy.

Just not sure how Paypal are doing this, they must be 'technically' bankrupt as of 8am this morning. Its one way to hold up your share price if you've had a bad year I suppose, and your financial year closes 31/03.
You wonder if this is a new pilot form of Quantitative Easing by the EU/Governments. With any drug hit like this, there follows a low, Ebay / Paypal may have just moved these purchases forward, leaving a tumbleweed wasteland / drought for ebay shops / suppliers in the next month.
Starting to wonder if this has anything to do with the EU referendum vote to present rosy economic figures around time of vote?

drama drama drama... ebay/paypal make around 20% off sellers, they waived that for a little while, massively increased their clicks and ad revenue, massively increased purchases, reminded people they were there and almost certainly pushed up auction prices (not buy it now obviously) thus increasing the fees they just gave away.
Simple economics.

I had multiple errors trying to check out a basket of 8 items. I'll probably not cancel, it was all stuff I needed and would have bought anyway but I pointed out to eBay CS that it's hardly fair to the sellers to drag this out - my stuff is from 6 different sellers and if I cancel or refuse delivery, that's a lot of aggro that eBay has brought on them.

Good luck to everybody with payment issues. Last year they had the same promotion around June (CTWENTY) and they screwed up the discount. They then refunded me but it took a couple of weeks and it was only a partial refund. It took me 3 months of chasing them to look into it before they finally refunded me the outstanding balance. I had a similar thing, purchased 5 items from basket using the code. Total £25 and showed £5 discount, purchased via Paypal and thought nothing of it. Hi, I bought last night just before 10.00 and had loads of problems getting the code to accept, then it suddenly went through but my confirmation messages all said full price. After trying to contact eBay etc. I checked the transaction on Paypal website, and although the headline transaction said the full amount of £54.99, when I opened the detail it did show the discount, and when tracking the transactions I could see the lower amount had been deducted. For those unsure if the discount was applied log into Paypal and look at the transaction detail by clicking on it:

Just checked based on the last few posts and looks like paypal have taken the Full amount, even though the code was used and the subsequent emails from ebay clearly show the discount applied.
Dirty tactic by ebay to scam their own customers and hope that some don't notice that they've been fully charged via paypal, despite the initial ebay invoice showing the discount.
Either way, it's a great way for ebay to fleece us for a short term loan, whilst hoping that some don't notice

Had a bit of a result.
Been tracking a computer seller originally listed for £350 (It ain't worth £350 and I told him that) a while back. Needed this particular machine as it has a DTX motherboard (Mini ITX with 2 pcie slots...but same size a Mini ITX). Anyway offered the seller £180 cash a while back if I could collect. He turned it down.
i7-3770, 8gb, 2tb, 7770 GPU, DVD. Nothing special but about £230 worth of bits.
Anyway he's been dropping the price over the last couple of months fairly regularly, then purely on fluke I checked the price earlier today and he'd dropped it to £200 with £25 shipping......did deal at the stroke of 10pm....all good and discount applied. £185 inc shipping (saves me driving across London as well).
Thanks OP.....good result for me.

The games vary in genre so you'll be good to go. With the backlog from PS+, you're set for a while anyways. My favourite there was Virtue's Last Reward. The handheld's power is unfortunately not used properly in most games. I think Uncharted Golden Abyss was the best game I played on there visually alongside Killzone Mercenaries.
I also brought a preowned Vita off eBay (was cheap so I didn't kick up a fuss) that said mint condition but it was in bad shape (analog sticks were fine but right trigger area had dog bites or something lol. Both the screen and rear touchpad had surface scratches but it never really mattered when gaming thankfully. I learnt not to assume things are mint on online listings (even here on FSFT :P).

Thanks! I'm not so fond of the turn based stuff atm but there's a decent amount on there I'm interested in already and there's a chance I could get more into the turn based stuff if it's portable. Got a lot of PS Plus games in my library I can try finally too. Should be nice having a decently powerful handheld for a change. I like the 3DS but the games aren't exactly cheap and I'd like a bit of extra detail every now and then.
Luckily I managed to grab the only Vita that had a mint condition screen too going by descriptions. "good condition... but the left analogue stick doesn't work", "lots of wear and tear" (looked really beat up), scratches and chips on others. You woudln't think a screen would be so hard to keep scratch free lol.

I added 11 items to basket then checked out successfully with code taking 20% off before going to Paypal. But then I just got taken to an eBay page saying 'Your payment is still processing' and, according to Paypal, I've only paid for one of the items and the other 10 are still in my basket.

I finally bit the bullet and bought an Xbox one. a nice £40 discount was clearly showing on eBay when I checked out. but now to shows nowhere!! checked my online banking and the pending amount from PayPal is for the full amount. fuming!!!!!

Nope, bought 3 items and the email from ebay shows the voucher discount. however, the paypal receipt email shows the full amount and no mention of any discount or voucher. Logging into paypal and viewing the details of each of the 3 transactions doesn;t show anything about any voucher either!
I'll contact both ebay and paypal tomorrow, I really don't have the strength for a wild-goose-chase right now...

Glad that it's worked out for you...I had 10 items in my basket....processed payment...got stuck on payment page before 10pm...then said payment pending...only one item is showing in my purchase history and paypal as being paid for now...no other items even being shown as being bought unless I click on the order details for the one item that the payment has processed for when it suddenly shows all the items along with messages saying the seller hasn't received payment for this order yet with active Contact seller and return item buttons...won't let me re-process payment using code so as far as I'm concerned they can sod off...not sure how I'm being thick and failing to follow instructions though?
Actually have no idea what to do about the situation either as no idea whether sellers think I've bought the items and just haven't sent payment or what...guess I'm going to have a busy time emailing them all to explain the situation...cheers ebay and paypal for yet another thoroughly miserable experience!

Did that, no discount and full amounts taken from my Amex. Reordered two of the three items again as the third wasn't available to reorder...it worked second time around and the transactions show as you've mentioned. Requested the first two orders to be cancelled and already got a refund on one of them which is good...but a little annoyed that I've paid full price for the third so hopefully eBay or Paypal will do something to refund the difference but not counting on it.

only the nectar thing shows for me :disappointed:
also does anyone know if there is a qualifying process for these offers. like do you have to buy or sell a certain number of items or spend a certain amount to qualify
I ended up with the discount and was the first time I ordered on EBay.
Thanks again OP.
Hope you get sorted!
I swear that's it really really never again to use ebay;-)
i havent read this whole thread but know there have been problems.
i didnt try and use the original code.
can anyone give me a quick summary? if i use the code to purchase an item and enter it at check out via paypal will i still somehow be charged the full amount?
i have my eye on an item that with the discount would happily pay but not happy to pay full price.if the chances are high ebay will f*ck me over don't think i'll bother. .... just really want that item and my inner voice says "try the code" i cba endless convos with ebay to be reimbursed.
is it worth it? does the code actually work? do i have to put it in twice once on the ebay page & once on the paypal page?
I had to chase them up to confirm the refund after a lack of reply to my first query.
The first replacement voucher would appear to have been automatically issued regardless of my email.
My entire basket didn't go through on that replacement voucher so I emailed and was given the "nothing we can do" response. As the no -voucher stuff didn't go through at all; I'm not too concerned.
This one simply appeared in my account, so I'm assuming enough people had issues again to do another batch.
Dear My_name,
Just thought you'd like to know eBay International AG sent you £xx.xx GBP.
Note from sender, eBay International AG:
Thanks for participating in the CUK20 Promotion
Reversal
Please be aware that your payment can still be reversed, (e.g. if it is subject to a chargeback), even after you have sent the item to your buyer. Complying with PayPal's Seller Protection and following the trading guidelines given on our Security page helps to protect you from things like chargebacks.
Who's crazier? eBay for giving an endless stream of codes that they know will have issues, or us for actually using it and expecting to have to contact eBay yet again for the money (and another code)...
Hello XXXXX,
Thank you for contacting eBay Customer Support. We understand that you are unable to use your voucher due to an error on the 31st of March.
Their are several reasons as to why the voucher was not working when you tried to apply on your end and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We regeret to inform you that we are unable to replace the voucher on your eBay account or apply the discount on your purchase(s).
You may take advantage of promotional vouchers in the future. Again we thank you for your patience and understanding on this matter.
Many Thanks,
eBay Customer Support
I have had my eye on a second PS4 for months, waiting for the right price point to bite. Saw this offer and went for it the voucher was worth £45 so I'm not giving up without some serious arm twisting.
It upsets me that I have to play bad cop to get anywhere with ebay with this but they are being incredibly stubborn and needs must.
Scammy so and so's I only ordered on that day because of the code
Neena14:14 PM
This was because of a known technical issue on PayPal
Neena14:26 PM
You need not to be disheartened for this. You are our valuable member and I am quite optimistic that you will get another voucher in near future. We frequently come up with such voucher promotions.
Neena14:25 PM
I do understand your feeling however we do not have any such option to issue another voucher, it can be issued only by the system under mass promotion. There is no option to issue voucher manually to any single member. This is how system is designed
"yeah, and if they don't work like this one didn't?"
as they have admitted it was a known paypal issue i have messaged paypal with a complaint to see if they can offer anything
Good luck, I just got a load of b/s
And now I've become one of those where a single item in the basket went through, but not the others.
At least they've confirmed the refund for the original mis-charge, but now I've got to go through all this again for the second voucher.
one is open to public on that day (show clearly on ebay pages even not log in), then lots of failed transcations and a few days later, ebay sent another discount code to some of the affected ebay customer.
but how could ebay explain why one of the items success and others failed (all in the same order and success with check out)
also I did not receive any ebay normal auto confirmation purchase email at all (include the one success) up to now.
so ebay have nothing to do with all these (?)
ebay are just trying to pass the bucket now
also at that period, there was nowhere I could find the term and condition link as mentioned by ebay now
ebay must come clear and said sorry, not make user as a fool
Also, the initial person on the live chat was useless. When I requested a manger I got the refund pretty quick
EBay shouldn't be offering a new code, they should be refunding those affected, especially in the case of screenshots / proof etc
The code must have cost them millions, presumably with the intention of getting people to spend more on eBay in the future
Being an **** with loyal customers over a few quid is only going to have the opposite effect
I had the email, and I know 5 other people who had the email, and we all experienced problems.
it did state in the terms "for selected ebay users only"
could be a reason why most people are having issues maybe
Thank you for writing to eBay about the CUK voucher.
I can certainly understand that you are concerned about the CUK voucher. On checking the details I can see that the payment was not successful for the items due to some PayPal issue that's the reason you have not received the discount for it. As the issue was from PayPal's end so we won't be able to reimburse.
Unfortunately we do not have access as those are system generated vouchers. Hence, I'm afraid to inform you that we won't be able to reissue the voucher. For your reference, you can check the link below for the terms and condition of the voucher:
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/promos/flash/
It all depends on what resolution is offered, how the company deals with those customers who were effected, customer service plays a very important part when dealing with these types of problems.
ebay have failed hugely, its totally unacceptable.
If it doesnt get resolved by ebay, im thinking of doing a chargeback for the difference as an unauthorised transaction. the transaction I authorised was 20% less.
I suggest you quote this to Ebay & if they do not adhere to the offer conditions report them to Trading Standards.
Good luck guys
just on live chat now and they're feeding me the same BS about there's nothing they can do and i won't be getting a refund and to look out for future promotions.... not getting away with this one that easy ebay.
Hello,
We’re writing to you about the Coupon offer you attempted to redeem on Thursday, March 31. Due to the high demand for this offer, you may have been unable to apply the discount at that time.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
The investigation is still in progress, Were giving you high hopes on this since were able to escalate this issue. Please wait for further update and will keep on monitoring this case for you.
Sincerely,
The eBay Team
there we go. we can all rest easy as eBay have 'high hopes'!!! unbelievable!!
The reference number for our call is **************
And some people believe that this happened because of the number of the transactions.
Obviously the popularity of the 20% off, was too much of a hit on their profits!
Their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced
Everyone affected by this problem use #eBayCUK20con
I argued that the 20% was never coming from the sellers cut anyways and that eBay was covering the 20%!
Again I'm told "sorry we can not refund the 20% over payment. Please use this code for 20% off your next purchase". Again I told them I don't want to buy anything else, I just want the 20% honoured on my original purchase as I only authorised the discounted amount and they still took 100% from my bank account!
They are not willing to budge, even though they agree it's their fault!!
Never have I experienced a company so stubborn and unfair! It's really is pathetic.
After being offered another voucher and told I was lying about having a voucher originally I doubt that this will come to an amicable resolution.
I didn't want to get into that hassle that why I ask from the seller, from the very beginning, to wait for dispatch and I said to them that I just gonna cancel the transaction... I got refund in the end but really I wouldn't like to go through all that again...
This is the reply I just got.
XXXXXX, I'm afraid to say that, as you haven't successfully purchased any item on 31st March 2016, we won't be able to issue you any voucher.
when I approached ebay live chats, one of the officer didn't want to listen or deal with my case and he kept saying I should write letter (only letter accepted, he insisted) to their complain department instead.
eBay Complaints Dept Attn: (relevant dept) PO Box 9473, Dublin 15, Ireland
or try another live chat as you may find different response again. Maybe ask the live chat refer you to the 'special team' for complicated case.
it worth's a try as in the best case: they might give you some courtesy code to use for future.
ps some people did get a replacement code last sunday
I don't know how you get this assumption, to me I conclude a lot of ebay users get affected.
I myself did follow all the steps and ebay failed it's duty and I use PC not mobile.
And for all I read, people do all right by the book.
so I have to challenge how you sum up it's ebay user's fault not ebay itself:|
if ebay did improve it's failing system, it benefit to all of us, I don't understanding why you hate such improvement. Don't forget if you would still using ebay, you could also have great chance to be one fo the victim too! What's wrong with you?
However, as with everything, a tiny number of people couldn't get the code to work because they either didn't follow the instructions correctly (their own fault) or used a app/mobile device (eBay's fault). The good news is that eBay are doing the decent thing and refunding everyone if the fault is due to eBay. This seems a pretty reasonable and fair approach.
right now, people pay the discount money but only could 100% until we open the paypal transcation details
we need a improved system: when something not right (ebay code not applying), we could stop the check out
right now, lots of us get caught up as we never sure how much we pay.
I would send this to ebay and I hope more people would let ebay know how poor their system are .
we all want discount (as every penny counts) and I think ebay would still do promotion again in the future. so help ourselves and push ebay to improve their system.
had waited patiently all day today
another fail promise from ebay
so live chat again and ebay say they already send out to all (!)
was told again to wait for another follow up:(
Contacted support the next day, they assured me they will deal with it and sort me out. Great finally.
Still didn't hear anything as of yesterday, contact them again. "Sorry since you managed to use the code on something you're SoL"
Thanks eBay, for reminding me never to use you again.
Did you contact ebay or paypal to get the refund? Do you have a phone number or path to chat service?
Instead of the nice Irish folks I woke to the other day ended up connected to an Asian call centre.
Lady was less than helpful, offered me another voucher when I clearly asked for a return of the amount missing from the last voucher.
Then when I revised that she tried to suggest they had no record of me using the voucher and therefore I was lying!
Eventually I think the message got through and hopefully I should be contacted within 14 days, but not impressed with the hoops I'm having to jump through for their mistakes.
ebay have been helpful when speaking o them directly but in terms of following up their promises not so good.
They said they would be in touch by the 6th April so they're fast running out of time and my patience is wearing thin too, sadly.
Thanks
Voucher showing as applied, payment was taken for full amount and no sign of the voucher having gone through despite it showing as successful prior to payment.
Called ebay and was told to expect contact by 6th April, if no contact by then, to call them back.
Why should I have to wait and see? I want to be confident that I will receive a resolution as should everyone else who has called to complain.
Not feeling full of optimism about the "resolution" that may or may not arrive but fingers crossed.
Waiting is the worst part!
no call came! called Sunday morning. person I spoke to this time said there was no trace of the code and basically tough!!
If it had happened that the voucher could not always be applied, or otherwise displayed an error, then it would actually be more reassuring.
I entered the code; it was accepted. PayPal stated it was applied.
eBay cart summary showed voucher and value. Total price took discount off.
And after all that; they still took the full amount from my account through PayPal.
Yes; supposedly will be rectified in a couple of days, but still...
I use ebay more than 7years and I ve got 100% feedback. Im fuming but at least it will help me keep clear of them for a while. No surprise why everybody hates them.
conned, shenanigans, call it what you will
So I applied my voucher, it reduced the price.
I paid via PayPal which confirmed and said thankyou etc ,just gone back into eBay to find the item still in my basket at full price claiming I never paid.
Con job of the highest level.
Today I got an email saying they'd honour the discount and have given me a refund of £31.
So rang again only to be told that they can't do anything.
What a bunch of...
Cheeky offer though lol however I am not impressed!
Naturally; I've provided the information, along with one of the screenshots taken.
PayPal don't seem to be much use; the messaging centre still states "cannot be displayed at this time..."
YOUR DISCOUNT AWAITS
Hello [redacted],
Our coupon offer on Thursday 31st March was very popular and due to the high demand we were unable to fulfil the discount at that time.
We're sorry for any disappointment this may have caused.
We'll be refunding you the amount of [redacted] directly to the PayPal account that's linked to your eBay account within 14 days. This is the discount amount that should have been applied. The coupon was valid for one transaction, if you tried to use the coupon more than once we will apply the discount to the highest value transaction you made on the day.
Kind regards,
The eBay Team
Made a complaint to eBay on Friday morning when I saw this had happened, and just now got an email saying "sorry this happened, here's another 20% off code to use before 10th April".
Whilst this is an ok gesture, it's left me paying full price on items that I purchased only because I could apply a discount. So this new code is a tad useless and more money to eBay. Not thrilled tbh.
Oh well, I'll just wait 6 months for the next voucher I suppose! (And I'm totally making a list of all the stuff to buy next time so I'm prepared!)
A paypal popup "You have sent £250 to Mr Igotyourmoneyhahaha"
...Hmmm doesnt seem right....
BTW this was all before 10pm!
Sounds like good advice but I waited until the last minute myself.
Discount was correctly applied on the item that went through but having items vanish from confirmed order is very poor from Ebay.
So, if you failed to get your discount correctly applied, were you using a mobile or tablet?
Just got to reorder the items.
What a mess!,,paypal said all they have been taking calls for today since 8am is this 20% code and failed payments, items returning to basket.
Thanks
I called PayPal who said the transaction had been declined by my bank. I found this surprising considering every other payment went through and I had a backup payment method on the account. But at least I knew what the problem was and knew no payment would go through. In the end I reordered with someone else's PayPal account. Good luck!
I think you're right this is going to be fun! My love hate relation with ebay is now leaning more towards hate.
My partner bought 6 items and only 5 went through has had call number 2 back form ebay.
Basically they are saying its not there fault and that its paypals fault fornot making the payments on them items.
We now have to contact paypal and im expecting them to pass the ball back to ebay.
By the way, The online chat thingy clocked up more that 6 million problems in just over 30 min's round about 4pm is this a normal day or is it April Fools ! or is ebay/paypal trying to make fools as many as possible.
Glade I don't work there today :sunglasses:
I feel for the peeps who are having a nightmare with this though, hope eBay does the right thing and sorts it all out.
My issue ^^^^. eBay just called me back. The code wasn't applied to my purchases (no sh1t Sherlock!) so they're not going to refund the discount. However, they're cancelling the equivalent amount of seller's fees from the balance on my seller's account so I'm happy with that.
They have asked me to send a screen-shot to them which shows their website with errors on voucher entry to investigate but confirmed they will not use this as evidence of me not using the code properly and have escalated to Level 2 support for resolution. Will let you guys know of the service number once it's all sorted!
Makes you wonder if eBay turnover was well under target, and they used this short notice offer to boost their figures.
Transaction Details (Paypal)
Your bank payment is scheduled for 14 Apr 2016. (Unique Transaction ID xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)
PayPal has already paid the seller. We'll debit the payment from your bank 14 days after you purchased the item, on 31 Mar 2016. The payment will show on your bank statement as a PayPal purchase.
Also described here:
How it works.
When you select Pay After Delivery at checkout, we’ll pay the seller instantly – but you won’t pay anything for 14 days, giving you time to receive your item before you pay for it. We’ll send you a reminder email before we debit the money to help you keep track of your payments.
Probably not, but just a thought.
However, I have made a case that both at eBay and Paypal checkouts I have been shown the discounted figure and thus they are breaking the law by charging me a different amount, especially since neither their voucher T&C nor the final Paypal page (where arguably the deferred payment would have been selected) mention anything regarding it.

thanks everyone. been drooling for a kitchen gadget for a month. now i can have a rice cooker and steamer
Thanks anyway.
As for the discount am not 100% sure if I got it or not
Ebay says ive spent/sent £60 yet PP says £75 but does show discount amount in PP but still they took £75
just checked the bank and nothing is showing up yet which is normal for the bank as they are slow
going to wait till Monday then check again.
This is a joke; but I wish I did..

They have some ISO's here.
http://www.techverse.net/download-windows-7-iso-x86-x64-microsofts-official-servers/
That's if you really want Windows 7. Windows 10 isn't that bad
Read the site rules. Your discussion has nothing to do with the discount, it's just common courtesy to take it to pm.
But hey, you'll probably call me pathetic too now.
Obviously i dont need to repeat but double check your full transaction history and your bank. If you're sure they took the full amount.
Surprisingly - i went to the regular customer support page:
http://ocsnext.ebay.co.uk/ocs/cusr?query=1357&levelHierarchy=5a3a4
Clicked to 'Call me' to request a callback and someone rang me straight away! Patrick was the guy i spoke to and he recognised my discount code was applied by i was charged the whole thing (£50 on a £250 purchase!) and said would have it sorted in 48 hours
WIN

Thinking of your suggestion, would the ISO install ok with the key - remember it's supposed to be an upgrade from XP/Vista.
Thanks.
Pathetic moaner.
A question for those in the know - will it be easy to downgrade to Win7 as my son hates Win8. I have a spare Win7 key so would like to use it.
Cheers.
The laptop should have a recovery partition that you shouldn't remove just incase. If the OS explodes or something you can always go back to Windows 8 that came with it.
Although from reading the thread it seems abit hit and miss and maybe its just an error with ebay or paypal....hope they sort it out for you and you get the discount or refund
"All discounts are being retracted and are null and void"
Then a few hours later sending another email out saying. "April Fools"
Can you imagine everyone's reaction! Would have been priceless
Do you think it will be easy enough to format the HD and install XP, then Win7? Or do laptops nowadays come with issues preventing downgrades?
Also, am I right in thinking Win8 was updated to give a similar experience/home screen as Win7?
Cheers.

£5.00 PayPal credit held in account
£50.00 Coupon
£400.28 from credit card or bank
How else could they show a receipt that you've sent the FULL amount to the seller and how the payment was FUNDED?
The exact method was used the last time they had this promotion.
If their tech team are looking into it at their highest priority - I'm guessing it wasn't a misunderstanding.
That's what I was told on the phone
Used the code on the coupon section.
Price went down.
Paid by Paypal.
Something went weird with payment pending.
Buyer accepted after I topped up the Paypal.
Had email confirming sale and 20% off.
Saved £25. Thanks again.
I'm having withdrawal symptoms though, £83 for a 5TB hard drive, I needed the space upgrade but I hate spending money!
That's good for you but like I said, I'm glad to have avoided the uncertainty and potential trouble.
In Payal it shows full amount of the item. clicking on it brings up the details and shows the voucher applied
Apparently this is a known issue and they have their technical people looking into why some people received the voucher discount when others didn't.
Anyway, I called up this morning and they said they'll be back in touch by the 6th April so I shall wait patiently while they sort themselves out.
Thanks!
Disgraceful
i struck lucky, but payment was a right hassle, and their will always be sore losers who saw it too late and attempted to execute late on, with these deals use it immediately, otherwise they get pulled, oversubscribed, overwhelmed later in the day
Maybe you should try emailing Johnny Doesntgivearatsarse in customer complaints?
Any advice?
Has anybody had this happen to them before? Were u successful in getting the 20% refunded?
thanks in advance
Guess the voucher worked?
I'm also one of the unlucky ones who got charged full whack but it's cock-up not conspiracy.
In both instances the first item on each order has gone through on ebay with a discount given but there is no trace anywhere of the second item on both.
Neither of the orders were for large amounts, £40 the first and £80 the second. Annoying to say the least...
Simple economics.
By saying rectify it seems they will honour the discount.
Looks like we all just have to play the waiting game
Ebay don't seem to take complaints seriously and unfortunately will be wasting your time on the phone to them as from numerous experiences in the past.
Their customer service is shocking.
Jeez some people don't read..... *rolls eyes*

Hope this helps

Dirty tactic by ebay to scam their own customers and hope that some don't notice that they've been fully charged via paypal, despite the initial ebay invoice showing the discount.
Either way, it's a great way for ebay to fleece us for a short term loan, whilst hoping that some don't notice
What a mess. Got screen shot of summary so will ring in the morning.
Think eBay will have a surge in phone calls in the morning
"Sorry, we were not able to process your PayPal payment for £104.00 for one or more items.
If you would like to purchase and pay for this item / these item(s) with another payment method, please return to your basket to check out and submit payment again.Remember, great deals don't last long on eBay, so some of your items may have already been purchased by other buyers.Complete payment soon to avoid missing out."
My payment was stuck on pending from just before 22:00pm
What can I do now? I don't want to pay full price for the item. I have confirmation screens with the discounted price at the time. What a headache.
edit: pay after delivery wasn't used so as Munkee said that could be the problem although I never get the choice to choose between instant or pay after delivery.
Says its taking payment in 14 days , I'm assuming this could be the problem . Anyway to rectify / cancel ?
Mattress, Towel Rail, Cutlery, and an Xbox One game I'll never get around to playing.
Haha :disappointed:
All stuff I needed though and I saved £40 off of a £200 spend.
Yourself?
And cheers OP
Kratos Ultimate Figure for 20.80 GBP
Somehow the third item, a tardis miniature for a friends PhD hat was not included ...
you? :P
My 20% will be about a fiver so not the end of the world if it doesn't get sorted.
Also spurred me on to do another job.
Emailed PayPal to moan so will see what happens.
I wish I had remembered to enter the code :disappointed:
Were you buying from overseas ? If so the extra fee are probably added by eBay for a Global Shipping purchase....these include tracked courier & all customs & import charges
hope everything fine for you
Been tracking a computer seller originally listed for £350 (It ain't worth £350 and I told him that) a while back.
Looking forward to the games anyhow. Should be a few to keep me busy!
I hope you have loads of fun with the PS Vita (if it's for yourself), I must've spent several months of gameplay on it while commuting and during late hours in bed. Made buying it years ago very worthwhile. If you like JRPGs, you're in for a treat.
Managed a purchase at 2155 phew and saved £25
Cheers!
Heat!
I got a Wii U and a phablet  Should keep me going!
edit: My bad, I can see PayPal have incorrectly stated the withdrawn amount to be the full price but my available funds reflect the discount. Happy days.
Gutted!
I bought something for £449 tonight, the ebay screen came up at £349 the payment went pending but moved to confirmed within 10 mins, this was just before 11, so probably just luck or card clearing house thats connected to paypal, was an amex card I use to fund paypal. Shame the paypal email said £399 lol
Reading the comments on their forums and facebook page it seems like hundreds of people have had issues, I don't know if this is better or worse.
Hope they've resolved it for you by morning
At least I sold an item today thanks to the voucher
I bought a set of 4 tyres which I intended to have fitted tomorrow, the code appears to have not worked (no discount shown on paypal or ebay), I contacted them and they said it would take 7 days to investigate. I'm a bit dubious as to how this will pan out, so im in two minds as to whether I should just cancel the whole thing with the seller. Do they have a track record with this sort of issue?
The fees all came thru as 10% on every item, went to live chat and they sorted it out without a problem, even though id mis-read one of the terms and conditions
I'll contact both ebay and paypal tomorrow, I really don't have the strength for a wild-goose-chase right now...
Actually have no idea what to do about the situation either as no idea whether sellers think I've bought the items and just haven't sent payment or what...guess I'm going to have a busy time emailing them all to explain the situation...cheers ebay and paypal for yet another thoroughly miserable experience!
I hope its gonna be a regular thing
Ordered and failed.
After 10pm deadline:
Ordered and remembered to add something else I wanted. Result.
Order total
Subtotal £ 129.99
Postage Free
Total voucher amount -£ 25.99
Total £ 78.01
The page where I entered my Paypal details said £104.99
I'm still stuck in "payment pending" limbo and I imagine over night it will come back as payment cancelled and ask me to use a new payment method (by which time the PayPal deal will no longer work)
This is frustrating. Guess I will have to chase this up on the phone tomorrow with customer services. Will be gutted if I have to pay full price
