EE are doing 100GB data per month free for 2 months when you top up £10 on their new Christmas free SIM deal. May help someone out.

New SIM needs to have been ordered by 29th December.

Go here, http://shop.ee.co.uk/campaigns/christmas-sim-from-ee if you want your own.

There is an AWFUL lot of contradiction on here but let me put this to rest once and for all.

The easiest way to get your 100GB AND keep your £10 credit is as follows:

1. Receive SIM

2. Put SIM in phone. Any phone. Dumb phone, smart phone. It doesn't matter. No need to turn data off

3. Text 'STOP PACK' to 150 (this merely stops the £10 1GB/50 mins/50 texts add-on from starting. This is the ONLY thing STOP PACK does. It does NOT stop the 100GB add-on from being applied)

4. Buy a £10 top up in a shop using the E Top Up card supplied. (It's much easier to top up this way due to problems with the EE top up website)

5. Text 'CHRISTMAS100' to 150

6. Voilà. You now have your 100GB free each month, for two months - and your £10 credit to spend on anything you want.

Thanks to preecey
- Apogee00

To check if an existing SIM from previous promotions is eligible for the offer, or if you want to ensure the promotion is active on the SIM without losing any money in the process, text CHRISTMAS100 to 150 BEFORE you top up. If the text back asks you to top up before they add the free data, the promotion is live on the SIM. If the text back states something along the lines of 'sorry you're not eligible', do NOT top up as you won't get the free data.
- preecey

If you don't want to start using the data straight away make sure at step 2 above that Data is TURNED OFF.
- kar999

Between steps 3 & 4 above reply YES to 150 to confirm you want to stop the pack. (You don't get a further text back. )

Some info on this from last time:
- Yes it's 100gb not 100mb. Activated after top up by texting CHRISTMAS100 to 150.
- You get 100gb for the first month. Then it automatically gives you 100gb for a second month. Then it becomes a normal sim.
- If you text STOP PACK to 150 after topping up but BEFORE using data (switch data off on your phone, the text will still go ok) it won't use your £10 before giving you the 100gb. So you can use the 2x100gb and still have £10 credit to activate afterwards whenever you wish.
- It can be used in mifis, and EE don't ban tethering.
- If you have a sim from the last 100gb promo(s), it will activate this offer if you top up by £5 then text CHRISTMAS100 to 150 EDIT: PEOPLE ARE REPORTING THAT EE DO NOT NOW ALLOW THIS. Further edit: Topping up by £10 and texting CHRISTMAS100 DID work on 6th Nov.
- You can save it for future use - just do the stop pack thing and then don't use any data. I'm still using one now and it'll run to mid-December. Need to text once every six months to stop the sim being disabled. Your credit can be used for this without activating a pack.
- If you top up old sims, the 100gb starts immediately - haven't found a way to delay for future use.

To get 10 months you will need 5 sims
Let's say you start on November 1st.

Sims 1,2,3 you activate on Nov 1st. That means " stop pack, top up £10, text christmas100". You must use a dumb phone.
Sim 1 data us for Nov and Dec
Sim 2 data is for Jan and Feb
Sim 3 data is for march and april

Sims 4 and 5 you activate on December 29. Again, you must use a dumb phone.

Sim 4 data is for may and June
Sim 5 will expire at end of June due to the six-month-rule. Therefore you must make a call or text from this sim, towards the end of June, to keep the sim alive. This will be paid for from the £10 PAYG credit you have on the sim, after you did the STOP PACK when activating. Texrts are 12p, calls are 30p. This call or text will keep the sim alive for a further six months, and will have the effect of triggering the data.
So sim 5 data is for July and (nearly all of) August.

So using the 5 sims you will have data from Nov 1st all the way to the end of August (nearly)

regarding what i said earlier about sending a text to keep the sim active but that doesnt activate the 100gb allowance

I have this evening found out what I said was incorrect

i.e. as a test Ive just sent a text on such a SIM with an unactivated 100gb allowance & its caused the 100gb allowance to activate & start its 2 month countdown

rather annoying as I was hoping to start using my spare SIMs after my landline BB contract end in may 2016

the only way I could see round this is maybe if you buy a £1 data pack & then send a text & hope that that stops the activation of the 100gb add on

16 Oct 15 2 #18
Possibly. I added £5 to a previous promo sim last time, and it worked. I still had the original £10 top up on it, so I now have £15 credit and did get the 200gb add-on.

Yes, but bear in mind the standard EE rates of 30p/min, 12p/text and I couldn't see a price for data
SFconvert
16 Oct 15 #29
Presumably you could also just use the £10 to buy 10 x £1 data packs also at 100mb each lasting up to a week. So for £10 you are getting 2 months of data, then up to 10 weeks at 100mb a week, which is enough for me as long as you don't stream anything.
nige182
16 Oct 15 1 #30
It can also be used for charity donations.

One thing to remember with PSN credit is that you have to pay for the text message as well, so with only £5 credit you cannot top up your PSN by £5, but with say £5.20 you could as you have the extra to cover the text message cost.

So would it make sense to get 1 now, which will last until mid December and then order another early december to stretch it out for about 4 months. Am I correct in thinking that the data starts as soon as your sim is ordered, or can you keep it for 2 months before activating it?

Top up, turn data off, text CHRISTMAS100, text STOP PACK, take sim out before using data. The first 100gb shouldn't start until you put it back in and use data.

As mentioned above, you'll probably need to start using before 6 months is up as according to their T&Cs sims have to be used within each 6 month period or they are disabled.

16 Oct 15 #90
For me, it's not so much about using up the 100GB (which, like you, my home broadband rarely hits), but avoiding TalkTalk/Vodafone's awful coverage with a Dual SIM phone. I don't pay anything anyway for my TalkTalk SIM, so this £10 top-up every few months with EE is fantastic. I managed to get a speed of 65+ MB/s in a very rural location last week, which is about x5 times the speed of my home broadband! I just hope they keep doing it.
ukbondraider
16 Oct 15 #64
£5 pm for effectively unlimited data is what we all should be paying normally. This is what this sim card offers for the next 6 months.

Get three of them and activate as above and then wait for a similar spring100 offer next year.

I will never pay more than £10 per month for unlimited 4g data now. Perfect for someone like me who rarely make phone calls.
kab600
16 Oct 15 #65
For those topping up previous sims: I don't think you can delay the 100gb starting like you can with a new sim. So stacking them for future use is an issue with the older sims.

I've been using these various promo SIMs as my main home internet connection for nearly a year now. £5 a month for an outstanding service which consistently delivers speeds in excess of 25Mbps.

I've been using it for the last few months and it's very good but not perfect. Sometimes webpages stall and sometimes google blocks you and says "your computer may be sending automated requests" which I assume is because they are using CGNAT. I reckon they are also using some sort of caching web proxy.

Most of the time I was getting full 20MB but sometimes dropped to 10MB, a few times I got dropped down to 3G (over the last 4 months). Speed is excellent and £10 for 2 months is a silly price.

actually maximum duration might be unlimited as long as you keep the sim active by sending a text at least once every 6 months which you can do indefinately if you have retained the £10 credit (& you remember of course) - you dont activate the data add on by just sending a text

So far Ive found an unactivated 100gb/month add on seems to stay there on the SIM ready for activation & doesnt expire - no garauntee that it doesnt have some sort of expiry date though - Ive still to hit the 6 month mark

Yes but don't forget that due to BT's ancient network there are still many of us whose Home ADSL barely scrapes 1mbps, and a further 2.4 million whose ADSL speeds fall into the 1 - 2 mbps category. In our Village, we get around 512k from our ADSL - yet we still have to pay the same ever increasing Line Rental as those with 80mbps connections, to get these 2001-like speeds.

Needless to say, we will probably never get Fibre, and its unlikely we'll ever even see 1mbps. So to access Fibre Like 40mbps speeds from 4G allows us to do the basic things that those in Towns and Cities take for granted, like streaming Netflix and using Catch Up TV

Mobile Broadband tariffs in this Country seem to all top out at 15gb - 25gb allowances, which is still better and far more flexible than unlimited 256k - 512k ADSL but it still means that you have to watch how much you stream, these 100gb sims are great, it means we can connect to 2015 more often and for longer.

Ok here's a scenario.......

Bought a new house and move in on Wednesday (new build property) phone lines won't be laid until January at the earliest due to major roadworks and oneserve won't add further disruption until these have finished. Our developer has organised EE mobile broadband through a company called Trellisworks and will give us 4GB of data inclusive as a back up solution. If we want additional we have been told to order a sim direct from EE and top up as and when for data allowance.

Could I use this sim in the router they are installing for my temporary mobile broadband and connect various devices such as ipad, PS4, laptop to it or is it exclusive to mobile phones?
Magnets to gazdavis11
16 Oct 15 1 #104
It should work, it's EE and they don't block tethering on these 100GB sims.

You could always buy a 4g mifi or 4g usb wifi dongle (ee buzzard) and use it in that if for some reason it doesn't work with your router. I've been using it in the EE buzzard attached to my home router.

Please explain what I have to do in detail when I get this sim card? I have ee osprey mini 2 with 20gb of data preloaded, when that runs out I guess I can put this in? Do you have to start a account with cc details to pay first £10? Then cancel? I'm very green at this kind of thing, any help appreciated, thanks.
preecey to mrgrimsby
16 Oct 15 #126
When your 20GB runs out you can indeed pop this SIM in your Osprey.
You don't have to provide credit card details at all if you don't want to. These are Pay As You Go SIMs and require no credit checks etc. These come with E Top-up cards so you can buy a £10 top-up in a shop if you prefer.

N.B. You will have to provide credit (not debit) card details if you wish to visit certain sites like gambling sites as Content Block is enabled by default.

Once the two months runs out that's it. Nothing more to pay and nothing to worry about at all as it is not a contract. You can continue topping up and buying packs if you want but the value for money won't be as good as the first two months of data you've enjoyed. Retain the SIM for future use though, in case any future promo codes work on it.

When you get the sim ......

1 - go to newsagent, supermarket etc and buy £10 EE top up voucher, you can use cash
2 - putr the sim in a dumb-phone, ie one that can NOT connect to the internet, or if you have a smart phone then make sure the data is switched OFF
3 - ring 150 and select the option to add a top up voucher to the sim
4 - put in the voucher number and the sim will have £10 added to it
5 - text CHRISTMAS100 to 150
6 - you will receive a text back saying the 200gb has been added to your sim
7 - take sim out and do not use it.
8 - when yoiur 20gb sim runs out in your Osprey, put in the Christmas sim and your 200gb allowance will start there and then. So you can save it for weeks or months, up to a six month limit before starting the data.

That's an awesome deal! Made even more brilliant that my Xiaomi Mi Note is dual SIM so I'll continue using my normal SIM for normal stuff and this SIM for data for two months. Although I imagine for the next two months I'll probably mainly be indoors now as it's getting chilly!

If your unsure try texting CHRISTMAS100 to 150 from the unused sim and they'll reply back

It started straight away on a summer sim for me, with data switched off. I think you can only delay it's start on new sims as you do that by stopping the pack. There's no pack to stop on an existing sim.

Get your SIM by 23:59 on 29 December 2015, top up £10 within 14 days of getting it to buy your Data Pack then text CHRISTMAS100 to 150 to activate the 200GB free UK data. You get 100GB each month for 2 consecutive months. Free data starts as soon as the 1GB of data in your Data pack runs out and lasts up to 30 days. Check 4G coverage at ee.co.uk/coverage.

Crikey, I'm still on my summer sim data till December. Now I'll be using Christmas sim data next summer.

I use this in my kindle lte 4g and it works great. I've used the kindle as a wireless hotspot and had other devices tethered no probs.

It's a multi sim by the way.....just pop out the bits you don't need till you get the size of sim you want.

Hi

Just wanted to confirm something as I wanted to take advantage of the whole 6 months by ordering a few sims.

If I order the sims now how long can I wait before Itop them up.

If I am able to wait till the end of December before adding my tenner to the final sim then that should hopefully mean I won't need to start my data till late June so that would give me approx 8 months with these.

I do remember reading somewhere though that you have to top up within 14 days of receipt of the sims.
TomBoyNI to Tooch
17 Oct 15 #202
What are you talking about six months?

Surely it is 2 months? Going by the terms and conditions they have to be received by 29/12 and topped up within 14 days to get the offer.

How do you plan to get six months. Surely the best case will have the data finishing on 12/02/2016 if you waited until 29/12 and topped it up on 12/01?

I have an EE account for my main SIM and even use the EE app on my phone for it. Won't be able to use the app for the other SIMs, however. I'll just keep it to the website

Thanks, deany!

For those that have sucessfully set up their christmas SIMs and using/saving the data (presuming they are still hanging around on the thread lol) can you provide a little feeback on your experience? Not just for myself but for others here, too.

For instance, when did you order your christmas SIM?
When did you activate it/credit it?
Steps you took to add the promotion (if you remember) -e.g. stopping pack before adding credit or before activating promotion?
Did you have any issues with an incorrect/bad SIM that reported incorrectly? -if so, how did you correct it?

I know this is a little bit of a big ask, but it would benefit others greatly, myself included.
This will hopefully help narrow down what issues there currently are and if they affect certain batches shipped out at a certain time, etc.

Many many thanks in advance if you gracioulsy take the time to provide this information for us all <3

Hello Kab600,
I dont get the meaning of "If you text STOP PACK to 150 after topping up but BEFORE using data (switch data off on your phone, the text will still go ok) it won't use your £10 before giving you the 100gb. So you can use the 2x100gb and still have £10 credit to activate afterwards whenever you wish" because statements are contradictory. Please check and correct, Thanks.

I see, thanks I have two spare Summer sim I was lucky enough to be given still in their envelopes, they _should_ work then?

Also on the summer sim I topped up online with £10.00
I would prefer to only topup and STOP PACK £5.00 is this possible or do I have to invest £10.00?
(I already have a monthy data contract with EE so would never use the £10.00 or £5.00 credit)

If I was going to put money on this (but I dont bet) back room staff at EE deactivated the old sims yesterday morning after 6.00am. Preventing old glasto and summer sims from having the offer.

you are just putting the data 'on hold' till you are ready to use it.

My one Summer Sim with my 200GB unused seems to still be OK.

Add-ons currently in use

 100GB Free 100GB Free for 30 days, 30-days, expires

(Although it says it is" in use" the "expires" word changes to "expiring in 29 days 23 hours" etc. once the clock starts ticking)

I haven't had chance to read the whole of this new thread but is it the Sims that have used up the previous 200GB allowances that have been deactivated like the Glasto ones?

If so that's no big deal just order some new ones and put £10 new credit on. I wouldn't be too happy if my unused original £10 top up was lost but I plan to use or transfer that before the six month inactivity rule kicked in anyway.

I managed to get in on the 100GB deal after hearing about it 2 weeks after already ordering a SIM. Simple text with the code and I was in. Then heard about the SUMMER100 promotion, gave it a chance and got in on that one, too. Didn't have to top up at all for the SUMMER100 promotion. But damn, I have tried this one a few times, both before and after topping up, but get denied saying it's for promotional SIMs only.

Doesn't look like there is any way around this since it seems that the EE team have locked it out. Unless anybody has any ideas? I got no issue putting credit on my SIM for this since this is my primary, anyway.

Anybody got any insight into the possibility of getting one of these promotional SIMs and then transferring my number and credit over to it? I know it can be done with credit, but transferring a number from one SIM to another within the same network?

piggy999 to PashtunPower

Not sure on this one, but for the summer100 sims you officially had 14 days after receiving the sim to activate, ie to top up £10, but in practice this worked for at least a month. Either way you can of course activate the sim but START using the data any time within six months so it is a relatively moot point

I currently have an EE SIM that has my personal/private number. Swapping it out for a SIM that has a load of data isn't ideal if I have to lose my current number.
I can't see me shelling out the expense for a MiFi device, but I would take the little effort to migrate my number from this EE SIM over to a new EE SIM that has the promotional data available.

If I had a dual-sim phone then I'd be all over this already

Are you for real? I posted accurate info. People followed my advice and now have 200gb of data on their old sims. Apparently (although I have no information either way on this) EE MAY have stopped the practice. But then for all I know people are doing it wrong. There are plenty of posts discussing this, so anyone topping up now should have followed the discussion in the thread. But you think I should apologise?

Could you confirm how long I need to keep an eye on this thread to ensure a post I made on the first page remains accurate? After all, I may have lots of apologising to do if anything I say becomes inaccurate at a later date.

Cant comment on what you have used already, but I have been very happy with the Osprey mifi, I use it with a tablet for watching YouTube etc and its great, 5 or 6 hour battery life, what speed you get will depend completely on the 4G signal where you are, but I get 20 to 30Mb/sec in london
padamowicz93
17 Oct 15 #282
Yes of course. There is no 4G on my old HTC so I may have to order one of those by the looks of it. Just tested my signal at work from my main phone which has EE card in it and it hits 30mb/s margin (Xperia z2 with 4G). So I would limit myself to 3G only if I was to stay with my old HTC. No brainer :stuck_out_tongue:
deany76
17 Oct 15 #283
Which HTC (2nd phone) do you have, some do have hotspot capabilities http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/howto/465106.html
But if it did work no way would it be quicker than Piggys osprey 2 or the 4g modem I use as the chips are meant for data only use.
What is your speedtest for EE in your area & what are you looking to do?

update just read your post ^ it really depends on what you're looking to do, will this be your main source for the internet?
padamowicz93
17 Oct 15 #284
It will be used as my main source of internet at work, connected via laptop. Last time this deal was on I have used my htc desire hd and pretty much limited myself to slower speeds as I completely forgot how old that HTC is and obviously there is no 4G on it. Considering all this I shall get one of those Osprays and benefit from higher speeds once my new christmas sim arrives. As I said my xperia z2 which has EE sim in it gets just under 30 mb/s (North West).
HotDealDude
17 Oct 15 #285
Definitely worth a look, thanks Piggy.

I decided to just go ahead and order 2 SIMs just in case. I know two family members that would likely need them regardless, but it gave me an error when trying to order a second one. I am aware that it is 1 per person, 2 per household, but it states "Sorry, only one special edition sim per person". The only thing the same is the address... How did everybody else manage to order two? :s

Anyway, I can just swap out my current SIM if I need lots of fast data or look at getting a MiFi device if EE keeps doing this regularly.

EDIT: Looks like it needs a separate email address for it to class as a separate person. Fair enough.

yes it turns out I was wrong

this evening I sent a test text on an sim Ive had for 4 months with an unactivated 100gb add on & the add on immediately activated - Im surprised at this since sending a text doesnt use any data

only possible hope now would be to start up a £1 data pack instead & hope that stops it from activating i..e. it wouldnt activate because of the 100mb data pack allowance OR alternatively do a further £5 top up

Ive heard mention in the past of people being able to do a £1 top up instore ? - is this still possible ?

as far as post 129 goes - I dont know if you can use a 'used' SIM from a previous offer to get another 100gb allowance - someone needs to test for this & report - the answer may already be above but I havent read the whole thread

Hi , sorry if I sound a bit simple, but would appreciate if somebody could kindly explain how or if I could benefit from this offer,( as I've had problems with talk talk WiFi),could I use the ee osprey mifi broadband box etc to get mobile data ,and if so how would I make the txts to activate or stop etc?
I have read all the previous posts but still unsure if I can put this SIM in the ee box and all the family can use the internet /mobile data in various products, ie iPad air at same time as smartphones.
Again sorry if it's a daft question, but appreciate any help..thanx in advance.
Sstuff to ciderno1
18 Oct 15 #308
Yes I don't see why your ee box wouldn't work with the sim, however you need to put the sim in a phone first to activate.
Once the sim arrives top up £10, the easiest way is to buy it in your local shop they print you a voucher number on a receipt. Then call 150 and follow the prompts to top up by voucher. Once topped up make sure the mobile data option is switched off on your phone, then text CHRISTMAS100 to 150, you will receive a reply stating your 100gb has been activated, then immediately text STOP PACK to 150 this will stop the £10 credit from being taken and you can use that to make calls anytime you like. Now test the data is working by switching on mobile data on your phone. If all good stick it in your
ee osprey and connect the usual way.

Once the 30 days expire you don't have to do anything, the next month of 100gb data is automatically applied. I hope this helps you out.

The EE MiFi units or any other MiFi device are essentially like any other WiFi routers, it will broadcast a signal which can be detected by any device with WiFi capability.

The SSID and Password are on the MiFi unit (underneath). As others have already said, set up the EE SIM in a phone first, then place SIM in the MiFi unit for Mobile Data, I find placing the MiFi unit by an upstairs window provides the fastest connection speed

It's a no contract _data sim card_ which comes with the three size varients.

EE allow tethering therefore as long as your device is cellular you'll be fine.

Being able to send a text message to 150 would also be required.....

.....and having an EE signal in your area (the stronger the better especially for 'gaming' and streaming video).

hope this helps

Can someone please tell me step-by-step on what needs to be done?

1) I get the SIMs
2) I put in my phone and switch off the mobile data
3) I top up the SIM with £10
3) I then text CHRISTMAS100 to 150 to start my 100GB per month for 2 months pack ?
4) If then text STOP PACK to 150 to disallow using the data pack from the £10 topup?

What if I want to use one SIM for Nov-Dec to get free data on my tablet and then use the second sim for Jan-Feb data?

How do I delay using the second SIM till then? Do I need to top-up now and do STOP PACK and then text CHRISTMAS100 in Jan ?

Hi, your steps 1 to 4 are all correct.
Bestt to top up with £10 ALL your sims ASAP, do not wait for weeks as EE usually require this to be done within 14 days.do not worry, as long as you have data switched off when you top up and text, the data will not start.
So you can use one sim for nov / Dec, then take it out and use the other sim for Jan / Feb and so on

Top up the sim with £10 as soon as you get it, but make sure you do this in a smart phone with data turned off, or in a dumb phone with no internet connection. The 2 months data will not start. Then take the sim out, keep it safe til you wantto use it, then put it back in phone with data ON, only then will the 2 months start. So you can use uit for Dec and jan

Been with talktalk for years now, phone service is good and good customer service, had international boost £5 for 500 minutes international..which is initially why we are still with them until now, broadband always been problem , maybe as we have got afew gadgets (or maybe that's average per household lol), 4 smartphones, 2 ipads, and a laptop that we use occasionally use but until now been benefiting from value line rental and 10% speedy payment etc, but now this is no longer available from Dec 1st, so will have to stick to finishing the rest of contract left. Mainly broadband gets bad when weather is bad ,which is nearly all time here in UK . Had the ovivo data SIM for a week in the iPad air for mobile data before they went down ,so need mostly mobile data for iPad etc for little one to keep occupied in journeys etc.
We also have 3 mobile Sims with talk talk ,they are brilliant for an adult ,as I'm paying £3.75 for a couple of hundred minutes n unlimited txts,+3 gb data, but it's no good for a teenager, my boy came up with £300+ Bill twice for goin over internet usage for a couple of hours, called talk talk ,they did , after a lot of persuasion credit half the amount bk to my account, but in long run if u work it out having paid all the excess charges ,not worth it, rather go with Tesco who stop service after going over £2.50 etc ,whats the point of me saving a couple of pounds per month when my boy comes up with hundreds of pounds Bill for couple hours,,, lol I'm laughing now but at the time I was doing no such thing ,as u can imagine,,, ... so these are the 2 main reasons for needing mobile data ,talk talk don't have a cap as such, did say they have a £5 credit limit(useless),then we get an alert, but no good as its too late by then as the account dznt show proper usage until updated, which takes 24-48 hours, told talk talk to completely stop his mobile data service, so he uses only WiFi , hope thats understandable..my boy will be leaving talk talk mobile as soon as contract over.
Also tried WiFi boosters etc for home to improve WiFi,but still struggling. So cousin recommended this white ee box.
So thanx guys ,if any body has recommendations or solutions, will be much appreciated.

if you go to the apple app store download speedtest.net make sure you are connected to wi-fi & also no family member is downloading or using wi-fi while doing test.

What download, upload & ping are you getting on average from three tests on wi-fi with speedtest.net?

Also download from apple app store an app called 'fing' and run test are you getting any IP conflicts? (shows a '2')

ps I would run test near router

This is an outstanding deal and thanks to OP for posting it.

It is worth taking at least three sims to give you 6 months coverage.

To summarise the process (and piggy999, please correct me if I am wrong):

1 - Insert each sim into a dumb phone within 14 days of receiving it
2 - add £10 credit (you can do this by buying a £10 top up voucher for cash from a shop) to each sim you have received.
3 - Once £10 credit is on the sim, text CHRISTMAS100 to 150 on each sim you have received.
4 - You will receive an auto text confirming 200GB has been added to each sim.
5 - Text STOP PACK to 150. This will keep the £10 as credit on the SIM for use AFTER the 200GB data has been consumed (the £10 credit can be used for either calls or additional data).
6 - Take each sim out of the dumb phone and store till you need to activate the data.
7 - When ready to use a sim, insert it into a mifi unit or a smartphone with data enabled and enjoy 100GB for 2 months. (NB: The data should be activated within 6 months of step 5.)
8 - At the end of the 2 months / 200GB, you still have £10 credit which can be used to buy additional data or for calls.

If I have missed anything in my process to optimise the value of this deal, please correct me by reply post.

Thanks and enjoy!

The funny thing is about this seller, he is clearly not even getting the sims himself and the posting them in to you after you have paid him ...... he is literally just copying your name and address into the sim order page (after you have paid him 12 quid on eBay) and EE will just post the sim to you like with all other applications !!!!! We won't know who is hiding behind the ID just as the same as on here but at least post the listing here for all to see when you find one. The more exposure to these scumbag sellers, the more folks know what they are doing, trying to rip off unsuspecting buyers.

OP posted this deal is available direct from EE for £10 top-up who can send SIM to you then why go via another 3rd party just to pass your details to fill it for your behalf. The sellers don't even have address details listed on their liastings. If the sellers have a genuine item/service to offer then why hide behind a smokescreen?

Are folks really that lazy bone idle to do it themselves? If that's the case, then you have no sympathies from me.

Re. the people selling these sims for£12 etc ......

I put it down to ignorance on the part of the buyers, nothing more. They think they are buying a sim direct from an eBay seller.Little do they know he is simply typing in their details into the EE website. They obviously do not know that the sims are free from EE.
You want to stop him doing this? Simply contact eBay and report his listing as illegal activity. Because it is 100% illegal to use someone's personal details in that way without their permission. EBay will remove his listing in a heartbeat.

Personally I am not bothered. Is it moral or immoral? Not sure. But there are much worse things out there toget upset about

It is a six month clause I believe, unless EE have changed it? Please provide a link to the info if you know better, thanks.
bayhabourbutcher
19 Oct 15 1 #354
my tuppance worth :

there have been numerous ebay sellers that have been dropshipping these SIMs all year (eg just check back thru completed listings which goes back 3 months)

at the moment because the offer has just started there arent many sellers advertising then but if you check again in a week or two then I suspect there will probably be at least 5 to 10 sellers offering them & the price will come down to a few quid

if sellers offering them upsets some people so much then you can try reporting them or alternatively you can create a informational only auction that provides the information for free

I'd also wondering why people are checking ebay in the first place (eg are they considering doing something similiar ?) & the reasons why some people seem so vitriolic towards such sellers (eg do they have some sort of vested interest such as wanting to sell there own sims & are annoyed that sellers dropshipping them are reducing the price)

this type of selling goes on all the time on ebay ie. sellers exploiting market knowledge &/or various forms of arbitrage
deany76 to bayhabourbutcher
19 Oct 15 #357
all my posts about that have been trying to have a laugh about it.
I find the humor on this site to be some of the best I have ever experienced.
I think the ebay sellers are _sad_ in all fairness.
They must be desperate. I would rather give a bit to charity.

I just hope EE are going to aim more towards the 00.05p a GB like these offers rather than the best deal of 00.55p I pay at present each month.

00.25p would be a sweet spot for me. ie £25.00 for 100 GB a month.

I do like EEs marketing statagy though, hoping they will keep it going.

I'm looking to get a SIM for a MIFI, should I get this or should I go for the £20 T-Mobile deal with 6 months data? I'll only be using it for browsing here and there, nothing major. 100GBs overkill, isn't it? But, will I be allowed to use the T-Mobile SIM in a MIFI?

Cheers :innocent:
preecey to AzNDeals
19 Oct 15 #387
These EE SIMs will be vastly superior to those T-Mobile £20 six month web boosters. You aren't allowed to tether with T-Mobile and the data is 3G only - plus it isn't actually unlimited. It's subject to a fair use policy where, if I remember correctly, is only 1GB per month. Once you've hit that you can still browse and email but it will be almost impossible to stream anything.
kar999 to AzNDeals
19 Oct 15 #392
Before these EE 100GB sims came along I was using the EE 6GB 90 day sims, which are also 4G,.in my MiFi They cost £14.99 which works out at £5 a month. (The 100GB topped up with £10 costs you £5 a month plus you still have £10 credit to use after 2 x 100GB runs out.)

The 90 day 6GB were adequate for me if I didn't stream video and to be honest I've only used c. 25GB each month with the 100GB ones watching a few movies a month on NowTV and Catch-up (which I couldn't do before),.

I'd make the most of these 100GBsims even if they are over-kill. They may not repeat them ad-infinitum.

What would be the best way for me to use this. EE don't use o2's servers do they.

I've just got a giffgaff sim for £20 a month its unlimited data although 256kbps after 6 or 8GB. My phones locked to o2 but giffgaff use them. Since i can't get a phone line this seems the cheapest way to be online, cheaper per month than any dongles.
If i wanted to just use up all the data from this does anyone know the cheapest phone you can buy with mobile tethering. I'd get it 2nd hand off ebay. I have a really cheap phone just now and it doesn't seem to connect as reliably as the old more expensive phone i had.
Or would it be cheaper to get the phone unlocked whats average price these days.
I thought there might have existed a device to plug the sim into then into your laptop and use the data that way
I saw what looked like some old Samsung galaxy mini , think 3rd generation in a shop window grade c for £25. As long as the tethering function still works thats all this phone will exist for.
piggy999 to simpson_eh
19 Oct 15 #389
If you want to use the 200GB data for your laptop, then you could use a 4G mifi device like me.
A good one is the Osprey 2 Mini, £50 new or £25 used on eBay.
The sim sits inside the mifi, the mifi broadcasts WiFi signal and your laptop connects to the WiFi.
Very simple to use, highly recommend.

19 Oct 15 #391
When you get the sim you have to add £10 credit, then send a text to get the 200GB data, then you can send another text to stop your credit being used yet still keep and use the 200GB. Full instructions are given in previous posts, just read back a few pages.

Better too much data available than too little. I would go through 6gigs in a weekend.

Although I'm in the sticks it does have its advantages as I'm lucky enough to live within line of sight to a double speed 4G transmitter with no buildings to get in the way!

What's the difference between this and my current 4G?
Double speed 4GEE delivers even faster speeds than our standard 4G – raising the average 4G speed experienced to 24-30Mbps, and offering peaks as high as 60Mbps.

Hi Piggy
tried all codes on this page inc AUG10 and Aug10 and got message 'Sorry, but the 10GB offer is not available to you. So I've just checked my https://myaccount.ee.co.uk account (this was a STOP PACK sim) used up 2 weeks ago. Expecting to see £10 credit, but it shows ZERO credit!
I've not used the sim except 150 & data as I have a pay monthly contract phone.....so obviously the credit goes when the data is used and offer is switched off.

Not really bothered to be honest because 00.05p a GB is so reasonable I don't expect it to be FREE!- but was surprised credit is gone.

Hey Ho, such is life, hope this helps.

ps Maybe if I put a tenner on & text Aug10 I'd get 10 GB but thats £1.00 a GB, I "only'' pay 00.55p at present so its not viable for me.

I'm fairly certain I stopped using sim on or around 06/10/15. so credit gone between then & now. I removed sim from modem & kept safe. I have double & triple checked (as you got me thinking!) https://myaccount.ee.co.uk account and showing ZERO credit on _that_ sim.

As I say my sleep won't be effected by this tonight!

I want EE to offer this deal three or four times every year Ad infinitum, so if they take my £10 so be it.

Dear Piggy,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a beautiful prayer, especially for me.

No one has ever done that before and it did bring a slight tear to my eye, thank you.

I am full of forgiveness for EE.

I here by promise never to hold it against them.

Just hope they don't nick your bloomin' tenner as well thats all.!

kar999
20 Oct 15 #422
Their T&Cs state this about packs...
Data Pack: Services are UK only. Packs recur automatically every 30 days. If you don’t have credit to pay for recurring Packs at the end of 30 days, you will have 90 days to top up before we automatically cancel your Pack

I know you had credit Deany but maybe it's 90 days from when you said STOP PACK that because you haven't got a "live" pack they assume you don't want to renew one and bang goes your £10 credit.

Answers on a postcard please!
kar999
20 Oct 15 1 #423
The £10 data pack gives you this... Data:1GB Minutes:50 Texts: 50
...... for the first 30 days and the free 100GB for two months data kicks in when your 1 GB runs out

The talk time and texts would run out after 30 days I believe as this is primarily a data sim.

Hi Kar

Just checked my e-mails and the summer sim was dispatched on the 28/07/15 so I would have topped up on or around the 29 or 30th of July'15 so I make that very nearly but _not quite_ 90 days.

no worries
kar999
20 Oct 15 #425
Gonna try to contact EE to see what they say. I don't want to lose £10 but equally no point starting a pack that will be wasted as I want to use our second 100GB sim soon.

But as you say, £10 for 200GB is a superb deal in itself and we'll worth paying.

Offshore EE Cust Service say I need to make a chargeable transaction (call or text) every 3 months and the clock started ticking was when my 2 x 100GB data ran out (i.e last weekend) and NOT when I topped up.
I'm not convinced the guy knew what he was talking about though as he didn't seem too sure and in my mind the 2 x100GB was a freebie add-on not a chargeable event.

Your loss of £10 deany76 also seems to back that up.

I think I'm going to buy a £1 pack and use the sim in my Nexus 7 3G

Can you test the AUG10 text once you have bought a pack? I want to know if it works with summer sims which have credit and a current active pack. If that's the case then it will at least be useful for old summer sims.

Just wondering whether all this new info affect the six month life of the sim?
I have a summer sim with 200GB ready and waiting, intend to start using it in december. The sim was activated in August.
All should still be OK?
DancingMatt
20 Oct 15 #434
@stemcell - You would be much better off buying the £10 Everything pack instead (text EP10 before doing anything else) - you get 150 mins, unlimited texts and 500MB data. That gives you lots more mins and texts than the £10 Data pack does in exchange for only half as much data... but since you're also getting 100GB/month free on top then I don't think losing that 0.5GB matters!

Oh, and I know this works because I did it with the summer deal.

I'm curious, do you have to pay £10 and be on the Data Bundle in order to qualify for the 200GB promotion?
Or would it be possible to use a small, 1 week bundle and still benefit from the promotion?

I know that on my main EE sim that I use for everything that I cancelled by bundle and chose instead to just use my credit for any texts and calls that I make, but was still able to get in on the SUMMER100 promotion.

I topped up £10, and the money was automatically taken for the pack, however i cancelled it before, so i called EE and they explained that it was the wrong pack, i said i canceled the pack before i topped up, and wanted another ( or you can say you wanted credit), and they changed it for me

Edit: This was on the summer sim

I ordered my SIM online from EE without there being any promotion. I was kinda bummed out since they announced the 100GB promotion 2 weeks later. I gave it a try, and it worked. I was then also able to get in on the SUMMER100 promotion but I wasn't on any active pack deal at the time.
Technically, it may not have been a "normal" SIM. I did choose the DATA pack which was online only. But no, there was no promotions that I knew of at the time when I requested the SIM that I use as my personal SIM. OH, and my number for the EE SIM is a number that I migrated over from Three(3)

Exactly this, yes.

Ok, thanks for reply. Maybe they sent you a promo sim as it was at the same time.
Although it seems that EE make up the rules as they go along, some thing are allowed, xsome not, for no reason. A but erratic.

Thanks for the feedback.
Let's see what kind of results come back from this.

I have to agree though, EE can be real erratic. And don't get me started on their website functionality. I've had to call about some problem with my account before and when trying to get my number updated properly on my SIM they ended up making it 14 digits long lol

Their coverage is great which is why I go for it. Their prices...well, kinda high if you're not on a pack. But OK I guess. These promotions just ensure I stay with them.

21 Oct 15 #448
I used my summer sim and topped up £5, sent the Christmas text and they said I need to top up atleast £10 so I put another £5, ended saying the same thing.
Possibly could be because I've used about 3 random packs after the summer 100gb finished?

Might have to just wait for my Christmas sim to arrive.

Also, could someone explain to me how they delay the data , to make it stretch over a longer period of time.
Many thanks

COMPLETE NIGHTMARE - received my christmas100 sim today in the post from EE. Topped it up £10 from my Visa. It then automatically gave me a pack with 500mb data and unlimited txts and when I txt CHRISTMAS100 to 150 it tells me Promo only available to customers who 9order our payg Christmas Sim.

The Sim pack I have been sent clearly is the Christmas Sim it says Christmas all over it and gives instructions to txt CHRISTMAS100 to 150, yet the sim inside according to EE is not a Christmas Sim WTF???

Called 150 and spoke with Bombay Bob who spoke so fast I questioned if he'd had 6 lines of coke previous to my call and 4 cans of Red Bull. Any way Bombay bob was clueless as to what the Christmas100 Sim deal was and questioned if it really existed and insisted I provide him with the link to EE's website showing the deal and after a extremely frustrating 10 minutes of spelling out the link: shop.ee.co.uk/campaigns/christmas-sim-from-ee to him he insisted that the link would not work from his computer? complete joke. I then asked to talk to manager and explained everything again and have now been told to wait 3 to 5 days for them to fix it? FFS Worst customer service EVER!

Hi, I believe the Christmas offer wouldn't work with my summer sim because I had bought random data packs after my summer promo finished.

If you check the first few comments some people had left thier summer sim alone after the promo ended and managed to get the Christmas offer by only topping up £5/£10.

If you have a summer sim you could try the £5.

So yes you do need to order a new sim. (Although now there seems to be problems with actually activating the offer) hope that helps

Just spent half an hour reading all of the posts in this thread... so to summarise.

1 - Get the SIM
2 - Put in my phone, switch off mobile data before OR use a dumbphone
3 - Top up the SIM with £10
4 - Send STOP PACK to 150
5 - Send CHRISTMAS100 to 150

Yes? piggy, not to be pedantic but you sometimes mentioned doing 4 before 5, and sometimes 5 before 4... it's quite confusing. :disappointed:

Not to put you off though, this is a good thing you're doing for the HUKD community, so thank you very much!

As long as you have used a dumb phone, or smart phone with data switched off, the 200GB data should not start. You can then take out the sim and keep it safe til you want to use it, six months is the assumed limit.
But ..... and I stress this! .... these are all things which worked for the summer sims, we hope it is the same process for Christmas sims ........ We hope ......

My two arrived today. I dont intend to activate them for a good few weeks yet so they last longer. They cant really enforce the 14 day top up. I left the summer ones for a few weeks.

Noted. I find it kinda funny how there are a bunch of legitimate sites locked behind this adult lock when there is no adult content within it :/

There is no other way except to use a credit card? Will a MasterCard branded debit card work?
I've read on EE's own forums (when they work) that some people are having problems with this adult lock and having it re-enable after a matter of weeks without warning.

This guy is either one of those on eBay trying to sell these FREE SIMs for a profit and not liking how people here are calling these scrubs out, or he's been burned by the change in how the promotional deals work and ended up spending £10 on a sim where he won't get free data...or both.

The hipocrite fails to remember that they are using and participating on a website/forum specifically made to get people good deals, competitions, coupons/vouchers, etc, etc...and then proceeds to call out fellow users for being "cheap".

Seriously, though, let's just ignore the person. It's no different to a child acting up because it's got an audience.

allan1954 and mushroome, thanks for the info.

I don't have a credit card and too far out from an EE store to stop by. Guess I'll have to just stick with it or look at a PAYG credit card. Heard there are some good ones available. I really need one of those anyway, so I should just take a look within the next week or so. Will be handy, either way.

I shouldnt' run into any issues with using the same credit card on multiple SIMs, will I?

A simple way to bypass the content control if you don't have a credit card or can't be arsed sorting it out is to use a free VPN such as Hola or tunnel bear for the web sites that are blocked.

Sorry to inform you but there's no such thing as a PAYG credit card.
I think you're getting confused with a PAYG debit card but that is not suitable to remove the content block because under 18s can get them.

Ah, I could have sworn there were credit card equivalents lol Looks like I'll be going with your suggestion of a free VPN then. Thanks for the heads up on both of those points, paulandpam1

kar999 to Rvdveer
22 Oct 15 #564
The free data once activated (100GB) runs for 30 days followed consecutively by another 100GB for the next 30 days. Once the 60 days have gone so is any unused data

People are deferring the activation of the free data to make the sims last longer. You need to follow the instructions to top-up, activate the offer and then STOP PACK without making a chargeable call or text. (see posts above). So long as you do that and DONT use the sim for anything it wont start using the free data but it has been loaded and ready to use. Once you start using the sim the 60 days starts.

The SIM comes with a top-up swipe card thing.

Easiest was to top up is to go down to any (most) corner shops, hand over the swipe card with your money and it's topped up instantly.

You can also top-up at some cash machines

Still a tech issue on CHRISTMAS100

when I put the xmas sim in a old basic Nokia the text offer I got was £10 Everything Pack and a EXTRA 500MB data for a year - not sure the terms of that, if it is on this specific pack or just on the account ?

Apparently if you get this text it is because the warehouse sent the wrong XMAS sim.

This offer is 13 months free 500MB promo is for a £10 top up and the OTHER xmas promo that is coming but not yet launched.

Thanks to the person for private messaging me that info.

Unsure if at his point if it is 500MB for a top up of £10 or a £10 monthly top up, I have replied asking such and will update any answer/s.

I can confirm its not working now (well not for me), just rang ee who appear to be totally confused between departments of whats going on, my sim came in the christmas100 packaging, i topped up yesterday and noticed that it was only 500mb preloaded unlike the glastonbury sim which starts off with 1gb, on trying to activate i got the same technical error as everyone else and that they will inform me when the issue would be fixed, on speaking to an agent at 1st they said their is no such sim or deal and am i sure its not 100mb lol, then after being transferred i was told that the sim i activated was the wrong one and i hadnt ordered a christmas sim pinning the blame on me, after going into great detail he said that he would send me a new xmas sim and transfer the credit over and activate that, after being on hold for 5 mins he has now told me that the issue should be resolved tomorrow and i do not need a new sim, he will call me to let me know either way.

For a communications company they seem to struggle to communicate within departments.

The closest thing would be 200gb for two months and then your £10 topup to buy additional data.

You just need two sims (for the household). Use one sim for 2 months and when that expires then trigger the data to kick in on the second one for the next two months.
