I just wanted to spread a bit of Easter cheer with everyone as I've recently done this with all my friends and it's the cheapest option to get 2For1 for the whole year.
In short - Meerkat Movies works with travel policies.
If you go onto compare the market, Choose a [SINGLE] [UK] travel policy, for the any day in the month for [ONE] day, no extras etc, you can get a quote for [£1.37]! ERV LITE - simply go through and purchase it, and you get sent your policy documents, log in to Compare the Market, and follow the Claim Meerkat Movies process and away you go!
12 Months of Meerkat Movies for £1.37... Can't really complain when Orange Wednesdays use to cost 35p a text.
Enjoy the Movies!
There is the chance to work and No purchase necessary! I got a quote and filled in my details. I think went to account (top right), requested a password (link sent via email). Once I had created a password, I clicked Meerkat Movies. I filled in fake details of a purchase (I picked travel, with any company and then lots of numbers for policy number) and hey presto I had a code for today. [However they do reserve the right to cancel membership and they may at a later date introduce certain terms on spend so may be best to purchase policy]
Slightly unethical so £1.37 is still a great price for those that would rather do it right and make a purchase.
- wordsworth
FAQ:
What happens if I cancel my policy?
If you cancel your policy or comparethemarket.com are unable to verify your qualifying purchase or switch, we reserve the right to revoke your MEERKAT MOVIES membership. We will of course let you know about this, a month in advance of it being revoked.

If you're reading this, please vote this post up. The info in Top Comment posts above is now out of date. Thanks!
-----------------------------UPDATE 4:15pm 14th April: READ IN FULL BEFORE ORDERING------------------------------------------
Don't have time to do a posh write-up of these updated notes and instructions, but the latest info crudely and in brief:
-This offer is still valid and the guide attached still works, but if at the final stage you can't enter your policy number on Meerkat Movies, you need to message CtM direct via the website. People report that they receive a response confirming eligibility, and are then getting access to their codes within approx 48 hours.
It would appear that Compare the Market's continued obligation is to honour the deal, but that they have created this extra step in the mean time to slow the number of cheap claims being made.
-The attached guide is for ERV insurance, but if you find it's unavailable, any provider will do. Price varies.
-Be sure you haven't already purchased something from Compare the Market, as your Meerkat Movies membership may already have begun, even if you haven't started claiming voucher codes. If you're unsure just sign in to CtM and try to access Meerkat Movies.
-Situation is fluid, check recent posts first!
end of update-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Step by step guide
Wrote this earlier for some email pals, please vote up to top comments if it's useful.
Big thanks to OP!
1. Register a free account at http://www.comparethemarket.com/
-Top right; 'Sign in'
-'Forgotten Password'
-Add your email address to create account
-Verify and log in
2. Find the cheapest insurance offer available on the site
-'Let's start comparing..' 'Travel Insurance'
-Travelling UK, for one day, just me, no extras.
-Search
3. Choose 'ERV Insurance' cover for £1.37
-Redirect to their site, pay by Visa/Mastercard
-Receive your insurance docs by email
-Copy your policy number "ERVCTMXXXXX"
4. Claim your first cinema voucher code at http://www.comparethemarket.com/
-Direct link: https://meerkat-movies.comparethemarket.com/membership
-Field one, choose 'ERV'
-Field two, paste your policy number
-Done! Log on each week to receive a new code.
------------------------------
Why not just do it the free way?
Better to pay the £1.37 to guarantee your voucher codes for the year, since Meerkats will almost certainly withdraw the offer from those who have fabricated policy numbers.
(thanks Chanchi32)
Why can't I see a policy offer for £1.37?
It seems there is a variation in price for some users, £2-4, which may be based on age and/or location, or availability. Just choose the next cheapest option - it won't affect your Meerkat Movies eligibility.
The Meerkat Movies page seems to be down, is the deal expired?
The site has been down a couple of times since this morning, but at the time of writing has been back up within a few minutes. As long as the offer is still appearing on the main ComparetheMarket site, it shouldn't affect your eligibility, and if you've already paid for insurance you will merely have to visit later to claim your tickets.
Guys if you goto compare site create an account dont bother searching for anything.
Goto meerkat movices
Select - Travel Policy
Select - ERV
And for the policy number put ERVCTM***** replace the 5 stars with 5 random numbers.
Then jobs done

22 Aug 16#1178
2 for 1 valid at Light Cinemas too, only four complexes in UK but worth knowing.
I cannot believe that people are trying to fiddle the cost of insurance, you can get legitimate cover for less than a fiver, I did and saved the premium on my first visit.

That only applies to the Heroic rewards, ie having both the Batman v Superman toy and meerkat movies. That basically means you can't get a toy with travel insurance.
Just having meerkat movies, the T&Cs are different:
Therefore anyone can still get 2 for 1 on travel insurance

16 Apr 16#1152

Apparently the T&Cs on the CTM website were updated at the beginning of March and the first item on the exclusion list for the offer is Travel Insurance. Seems like they are catching on the low cost routes to qualifying for the offer.

14 Apr 16#1150
Can confirm I just did this using the instructions smaug1979 posted and was confirmed as having the meerkat movies in under 10 minutes.

Cheers OP for posting this up

Just had to comment on this, don't know why so many people are having problems, my meerkat movies was due for renewal and I have purchased 1 day travel insurance and got a new code instantly, here are the steps I took.
Note: I used the full site on my laptop as it wasnt working on my iphone or the wifes android phone.
Log into www.comparethemarket.com and search for 1 day travel insurance. (cheapest for me was ERV @ £2.00)
Purchase the travel insurance by clicking through from compare the market. (you should get your policy number straight away)
Fill in the details including you policy number and you should be able to get a code instantly.
Just to add I purchased a policy for the 02/05/16 - 03/05/16 not sure if this would make any difference.

I just bought a 1 day UK travel insurance from TopDog through the compare the meerkat site for £2.37. It took me 5 minutes and this activated my meerkat movies membership straight away. I do not think you need to wait the 48hrs anymore as suggested on these forums.
It is probably worth a shot for others.

Guys if you goto compare site create an account dont bother searching for anything.
Goto meerkat movices
Select - Travel Policy
Select - ERV
And for the policy number put ERVCTM***** replace the 5 stars with 5 random numbers.

The quickest ways to do it is either go to self service machine or book online (I think online is cheaper if you sign up for an account).
You could go to the desk and do it but a lot of the times when I have been they do not even have any staff at desks anymore or the desk is the same place they serve food so its long wait.

I just tried this but it says my membership is only valid until 18th February, not 1 year from today. I haven't used Compare The Market before however what I notice is that the date coincides with a travel insurance purchase I made starting the 18th February 2014 however this was not through CtM, it was purchased via Google Compare. Has anyone else seen this? It is very odd. I will need to contact them to find out how they are able to pull details of a previous policy of mine that is not associated with them.

What products qualify for the 2 for 1 cinema tickets?
To qualify for MEERKAT MOVIES membership, you need to purchase one of the following products via comparethemarket.com: car, motorcycle, home, van, pet, landlord, life, home/content or travel insurance. You can also qualify by taking out a credit card or loan or switch energy, digital TV or broadband supplier.

I haven't read all the 741 comments above of 38 pages, but I went to Cineworld and asked them if this is still valid with the Unlimited. I wonder if any one has tried it yet in Cineworld or any of the others....
If this is true then it is worth taking the unlimited and even if you watch one film a month still worth it to get the other free, for your moneys worth but other wise you could watch 4 films a week and that is 8 tickets for the price of one month unlimited of £16.40 12mont = £196.80(Ex West end) or £19.40 (£232.80 inc WE)
Here is the best part for those in the Civil Service you can get Cineworld annual membership through CSMA for £147.89 (NON West End)= £12.32/mth) Price of one film, or £174.89 if you want the WE. So all you CS guys or girls if you are not CSMA member it is £19.xx less than £20/yr but includes load of other benefits and discounts.
So if we can use the Cineworld unlimited it is great news either way.

just tried to do this but it doesnt work, it says that travel insurance isnt a product you can use to get this offer...!
this is in terms and conditions:
Products that do not qualify: Travel, Health, Business insurance, Breakdown cover, Income & Payment Protection insurance, or Mortgages
so are you all saying thats wrong and it works for you?
EDIT: sorry just seen thats for claiming a toy! mine still isnt working though!

Thank you very much for this  I got it for £2.06
It took approx 40 hours for it to work and it took the code without me entering it, I logged on and it said that I was signed up to it. Kept being told "Sorry, we can't automatically validate......." but like it says please wait 48-72 hours and it should work fine. Just saying this incase there is other that dont wait and post. Mobile app was the same
hjcsbz :- It works exactly same way as Orange Wednesdays works, You get a 2D ticket for free. If it is a 3D movie and there is extra to be paid then you pay the extra and you get the standard 2D price for free on the 2nd ticket.
Here is the FAQ :-
"What does my 2 for 1 cinema ticket entitle me to?
Simply put, you pay for 1 ticket and get 2! You will get the cheaper ticket free, and the offer only applies to standard screenings, excluding private screenings. If you fancy an IMAX screening, premium seats or a 3D viewing, you will have to pay the difference. Each cinema will also have its own Terms and Conditions which apply as usual. "

Have anyone used any code, please advise?
Let 's say a standing ticket in Odeon cost you £10.80 and on the top of this; let's say iMAX 3D is £5.
So for two people are you paying:-
1. £10.80 (2 for 1) plus 3D £5 x 2 = £10 Total: £20.80 OR ..
2. £10.80 + 3D £5 = £15.80 Total : 15.80 (2 for 1)

My code didn't work. I entered my details in the simple form, but it then said:
"Sorry, we can't automatically validate your details for the selected product and brand. Please check you have selected the correct product and brand."
And I had checked the correct brand etc. Is there anything I can do to sort this?

5. Qualifying Purchase
5.1 MEERKAT MOVIES is available to those who:
5.1.1 Purchased: car insurance, motorcycle insurance, van insurance, contents and/or buildings insurance, pet insurance, life insurance, landlord insurance or travel insurance;
5.1.2 Switched: energy (gas and/or electric), broadband, home telephone or digital TV;
5.1.3 Obtained: a credit card or loan,

So we should be eligible ...

Just so people are aware, the small print now says that Travel Insurance is no longer an eligible product. I bought a policy this morning and tried to activate the offer, in both the iOS app and their website it wouldn't let me activate the product. When you select Travel Insurance in the drop down box to activate Meerkat Movies on their website it now states something like "The product you have selected will not be activated using our automatic system, contact us for further information." On the iOS app after entering my policy number it just states "Sorry. You need to purchase a qualifying product." So be aware that they have updated the terms of their offer. The whole way through purchasing my policy however I was bombarded with advertising that specifically stated "Buy Travel Insurance and get 2 for 1 Cinema Tickets for an Entire Year!" So I've put in a complaint and hopefully they will manually activate the offer as they don't seem to have corrected their website yet and so were falsely advertising that Travel Insurance is eligible for the offer.

24 Apr 15#663
There was no next screen. Have emailed them 3 times with no response. To phone them would cost more than what the policy cost. Have taken one out with ERV instead and it was all confirmed instantly.
Have since found several others online with exactly the same issue with Cigna.

24 Apr 15#661
Purchased 1 day travel insurance from Cigna and received an email saying "Your policy documents will be emailed to you within 24 hours".

24 Apr 15#662
As soon as you make payment for travel insurance you get your policy no. on the next screen, I usually take a print screen and save the image. You would also get confirmation e-mail straight away. Also has the payment been taken out of your bank account?
Best thing to do is to contact the travel insurance company giving your details in order to locate your policy

Lot's of people have been talking about this again today by the look of things, and we have been getting lots of calls ourselves about the Meerkat Movies offer. There have been some issues with the Compare The Market website this morning which is why some of you didn't get results.
As mentioned several times, although some of the main page content don't list travel insurance, it is included. BUT it may not be instant and we do advise that people to WAIT THE SUGGESTED 48 HOURS to obtain their code.
We should also point out that CANCELLING any qualifying purchase will INVALIDATE your Meerkat Movies offer and so Compare The Market may remove your account from the offer. Also, entering fake policy numbers means they cannot be validated and so the offer may also be removed from these accounts.
It's a great offer and it does work, just please be patient as your purchase needs to be validated before you get your code.
Enjoy the film

The Meerkat Movies states the following in the FAQs:

To qualify for MEERKAT MOVIES membership, you need to purchase one of the following products via comparethemarket.com: car, motorcycle, home, van, pet, landlord, life, home/content or travel insurance. You can also qualify by taking out a credit card or loan or switch energy, digital TV or broadband supplier.

For those who have bought insurance meeting the criteria don't flood the site with queries about the app not validating the policy.GIVE IT 48 HRS as it sometimes takes this long to confirm the insurance had been taken out .If you still having issues after 48 hrs uninstall and reinstall the app and if that doesn't work contact the Meerkat customer services.
Seems to be a number of people querying that their policies aren't being recognised when resolves have already been posted.

^^^^ Dude, read post #502. In fact read your post again. "a qualifying purchase enables a meerkat toy claim" - Where does that paragraph mention "Meerkat Movies" ?

14 Apr 15#505
I just wasted £2.50 because I did not read the threads properly. Travel insurance does not count towards Meerkat Movies membership. It is not recognising my membership number.
Qualifying Purchase
What is a 'Qualifying Purchase'?
A Qualifying Purchase enables a meerkat toy claim, and is one of the following products obtained via comparethemarket.com:
Car, Van, Motorbike, Home, Landlord, Pet insurance or Life insurance policies(i), successfully approved Credit cards(ii) or Loans, or a completed Digital TV/Broadband (iii) or Energy switch.
Products that do not qualify: Travel, Health, Business insurance, Breakdown cover, Income & Payment Protection insurance, or Mortgages.
(i) If you buy a joint life insurance policy you will only qualify to receive one toy reward. (ii) You are eligible to claim one toy reward per approved Credit Card application only. You can only claim a maximum of two toys for Approved Credit Cards per person, within a six month period, . (iii) You are eligible to claim one toy reward only per completed switch for Broadband, Digital TV & phone.

Clearly states TOY CLAIM. No mention of meerkat movies.
In FAQ, clearly states travel insurance qualifies for meerkat movies as well as the T&C's 5.1.1.
You are correct in that accounts will not activate but simply contact via email and mention as above and will eventually activate.

Apologies if this is a repeat, its worth checking if you have previously bought a policy via compare the market, I followed the guidance on here got a 1 day travel policy for £4 turns out when I logged in I had bought my car insurance through them in Dec and had already qualified.

Did the same, hd to go with 'Go@ as 'ERV' have a glitch around birthdays & age groups! - It looked the other half into the 25-39 group, She turns 40 early august, we travel at the end of Aug & ERV's server just spat out it's dummy saying one of the travelelrs will not be in their age group at time of trip' but offered no option to change. As Meerkat asks for DOB, can't reverse and adjust or would be giving false info & Invalidate anyway. Still £5.40 for a year of 241 is less than one ticket, so that'll do!. First time commenter. Finally got round to trying this. Logged into comparethemarket as I knew I had an account. Transpires I bought my home insurance through them in August 2014. This automatically makes me eligible for this so didn't need to buy anything but the downside is the 241 offer only applies until my house insurance runs out. Not a big problem as hubby and I rarely get to go to cinema midweek but will take my kid this Tuesday.

I think they're in the process of removing travel insurance from the eligibility list. I highly doubt they would try to revoke Meerkat Movies membership for anyone who's already purchased it or for anyone who purchases now. If you want this and still haven't purchased, I recommend going for it now while you still can. To activate, you'll need to contact support.

Can someone confirm if it works 72 hours after purchase?

12 Apr 151#444
I purchased mine on the 8th of April, when any old number worked but I didn't get round to putting it in the app until the 10th of April. It didn't work. I tried it today and it still doesn't work and that is four days after I purchased it.
I emailed comparethemarket on Friday and they said try again on Monday but basically I think that is a delaying tactic to see if the purchase tracks.
I think it is a standard response they send out now because they are not just accepting any old policy number now but waiting until the policy tracks and that could take awhile.
I will email them on Monday though and will probably be told to wait again.

I purchased travel insurance 2 days ago and my policy number will not work. I emailed Compare The Market and their response was for me to try again on Monday as it allows time for confirmation of my purchase to go through to Compare The Market. So, fingers crossed no money has been wasted.

I've emailed them with my policy number and section 5.1.1 of the terms and conditions (5.1.1 Purchased: car insurance, motorcycle insurance, van insurance, contents and/or buildings insurance, pet insurance, life insurance, landlord insurance or travel insurance;) - they have come back and said:

How about doing something for all the people that are..
SINGLE
ALONE
NOT MARRIED
NOT WITH SOMEONE
DO NOT HAVE A PARTNER
ARE NOT 1 OF 2
LIKE TO SEE A MOVIE ON THEIR OWN
ETC ETC!
Sent a snotty email asking them why they have forgotten
almost 1/3+ of the UK population in this "great deal" and
after 3 days, still no reply!
Yes, you can take someone with you, go with your family
or drag someone in to the cinema, who is just hanging
around, dithering over what film to watch..
It would have been nice to have the choice Mr Meerkat..
How about some PR magic to fix it???

£2.14 here, too - but a drop in the ocean for the savings this will bring, so thanks Op!
I did contemplate doing the free method.. but ... just in case, I'd rather have this for a year, than risk it, as once it's taken away, you might not be able to do this 'cheap' method any more.
Reading the T&Cs, it does look like they will verify purchases, which of course will fail if you dump random numbers in. But, you never know, you might get away with it

1. Sign into comparethemarket
2. Go to meerkat movies
3. Click the big gold button (for existing policies I think)
4. Select Travel Insurance, and ASDA as a provider
5. Enter a random number for the policy number (maybe about 10 digits long)
6. It should work. I had to repeat this process again for it to work however, but I now have it for a year!

Just open a free credit card to get meerkat movies.

9 Apr 15#308
So - at least for the Odeon - you have to turn up and pay on arrival with this? Someone mentioned that's why there's no point publically releasing your code (no-one will know who used it until you turn up).
What's the chances of having very poor seats (right in the corner) or sold out completely after a 20 minute car journey on a Tuesday/Wednesday? Would be a tad annoying! It's £11.50 in my local per ticket anyway!

Chanchi32 to herrbz
9 Apr 151#309
I would guess that the accounts with fake details paying nothing that comparethemarket will look to close this one off quickly - as well as the cost they are regulated by the FCA and this wouldn't look too good from the regulator e.g. promo resulting in fraudulent activity and what checks did the meerkats do to prevent this
The accounts buying the low cost travel insurance - this is in the current terms and conditions so no issue there. Depending on the volume gaming them they may introduce a minimum spend as ultimately they will need to prove incremental income from funding the 2 for 1 offer.

I'm pretty sure everyone who is creating an account and entering a fake policy following the instructions earlier will be found out. And given you've had to give them personal information to get set up, I'd say that's a pretty stupid risk to take too.
Personally, I just bought travel insurance through the site for £2.13 for a legitimate UK business trip next week - so my purchase is all legal and above board, and it validated my Meerkat Movies membership to 8th April 2016.

"how is this thread still allowed isn't it covered by the original post 2 and a bit weeks ago"
-The original thread was for the launch of the 2 for 1 offer, this is around buying a £1.37 insurance policy to benefit from the deal
- Just scanned the original thread and yes there was reference to buying travel insurance however this is quite hidden in comments, not in the main OP and was stated much later on. I remember when this was posted and only seems more recent comments confirming that low cost travel insurance worked so I personally was not aware of this
- The post is obviously benefitting a lot of people given the comments and voting
"there is a cheaper way just request a credit card and you get the codes"
- yes you could get a credit card, however you would probably be better going via quidco/TCB to get the cashback
- not everyone will be accepted for a credit card and a decline could impact your credit record and ability to get credit in the future

These people are idiots.
They are kind but too stupid to realize they aren't being very helfup.
Because there's no way to know if another person has used the code until you go to the cineam.
So you have a 1/100 chance of getting 2 for 1...or less. Then a 99/100 chance of being annoyed.
...Still it's the thought that counts, they say. "they" being stupid people

Why have I been given less than 12 months membership of MEERKAT MOVIES?
To celebrate the launch of MEERKAT MOVIES we are giving existing customers who bought qualifying products with us MEERKAT MOVIES membership. For these existing customers, MEERKAT MOVIES membership lasts until the first anniversary from the date of your qualifying purchase. For example, if you bought in November 2014, you would have 7 months left. You can check when your membership expires on the MEERKAT MOVIES app or by logging into your comparethemarket.com account.

Did you buy insurance through Compare The Market about 12 months ago? Mine says - expires 25th June. I bought car insurance from them in June last year (didn't bother to claim the Meerkat toy this time) so it looks like I may have wasted the £1.37 by purchasing this travel one.

Opening post

Does this offer only last a year total? Thanks
Go to https://your-rewards.comparethemarket.com and click claim a reward.
Click "travel insurance" and "choose reward"
Fill in the details including you policy number and you should be able to get a code instantly.
Just to add I purchased a policy for the 02/05/16 - 03/05/16 not sure if this would make any difference.
Would be grateful for a code myself, just bought the insurance but wont be activated for 48 hours and wanted to go this evening!

I have bought a policy yesterday but policy number is n't recognised and CTM are saying I need to wait 48 hours and try again.
Thanks
If anyone can help with a spare code it'd be really appreciated!
Regards
Ryan
You could go to the desk and do it but a lot of the times when I have been they do not even have any staff at desks anymore or the desk is the same place they serve food so its long wait.
Waiting to activate membership, so don't have a code for today.
Thanks in advance.
PLEASE DO NOT POST PERSONAL CONTACT INFO IN THE PUBLIC AND OPEN FORUM.
THANK YOU
I would like to take my niece to the cinema this eve.
Can you ping me the code.

When I went to insurance page of £2.74 it showing the travel date from 22 June to 30 June which means the insurance will cover for this period not for the whole year right..!
- Thanks
I signed up for meerkat movies but caught out by the whole 48 hour wait thing.
I'll be sure to pay the favour on in the future.
Cheers.
Stuck in the 48 hour purgatory...
Caught in the 48 hour wait! Will return the favour next week but does anyone have a spare code they could kindly send to me please?

To qualify for MEERKAT MOVIES membership, you need to purchase one of the following products via comparethemarket.com: car, motorcycle, home, van, pet, landlord, life, home/content or travel insurance. You can also qualify by taking out a credit card or loan or switch energy, digital TV or broadband supplier.
Sorry, we can't automatically validate your details for the selected product and brand. Please check you have selected the correct product and brand.
Can anyone let me know what I am doing wrong !!
Thanks
Thanks in advance!
Does anyone have a code please?
"Sorry, we can't automatically validate your details for the selected product and brand. Please check you have selected the correct product and brand."

Also noticed a lot of these codes showing up on eBay, just saying.
The only option I could find was to email: [email protected]
is this correct?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks.
Thank you so much
Does anyone has a spare code for tonight? Can you please PM if not using?
Thanks
Also if anyone has a spare code could you please message it me as I'm going to the cinema tonight and don't know if ill be able to get my own codes by then. Thank you
fear i am too late to the party
Been a latecomer to the party but I can confirm this is still working.
The cheapest insurance is now £2.03 from ERV. Also, it can take up to 48 hours to be activated.
So if we can use the Cineworld unlimited it is great news either way.
this is in terms and conditions:
Products that do not qualify: Travel, Health, Business insurance, Breakdown cover, Income & Payment Protection insurance, or Mortgages
so are you all saying thats wrong and it works for you?
EDIT: sorry just seen thats for claiming a toy! mine still isnt working though!
I signed up for this over a week ago but never received confirmation (although the money for the insurance was taken from my account), and the compare the market site has no record of the quote on my account.
I've e-mailed them to get it sorted out, but suspect it won't be dealt with in time for tonight :disappointed:
Let 's say a standing ticket in Odeon cost you £10.80 and on the top of this; let's say iMAX 3D is £5.
So for two people are you paying:-
1. £10.80 (2 for 1) plus 3D £5 x 2 = £10 Total: £20.80 OR ..
2. £10.80 + 3D £5 = £15.80 Total : 15.80 (2 for 1)
"Sorry, we can't automatically validate your details for the selected product and brand. Please check you have selected the correct product and brand."
And I had checked the correct brand etc. Is there anything I can do to sort this?
Sorry, we can't automatically validate your details for the selected product and brand. Please check you have selected the correct product and brand.
Cheers
You've done everything right, but need to activate your legit membership - read the superbly written guide in Top Comments
Good excuse to go to the cinema every week now
Purchased travel insurance from ERV but when I try and activate Meerkat Movies it tells me it can't be activated.
Anyone else had this issue?
That can't be right, can it?
Dan
Thanks in advance!

Movies T&C's state ...
5. Qualifying Purchase
5.1 MEERKAT MOVIES is available to those who:
5.1.1 Purchased: car insurance, motorcycle insurance, van insurance, contents and/or buildings insurance, pet insurance, life insurance, landlord insurance or travel insurance;
5.1.2 Switched: energy (gas and/or electric), broadband, home telephone or digital TV;
5.1.3 Obtained: a credit card or loan,
through comparethemarket.com.
So we should be eligible ...
Have since found several others online with exactly the same issue with Cigna.
48 hours later and still no policy or policy number.
And no answer to any of my emails.
Best thing to do is to contact the travel insurance company giving your details in order to locate your policy
Codes ready for next week. Hanks op
I've tried selecting 1 day... multiple days... everything... -.-''
I wanted to watch Avengers tonight lol.
If anyone could share a code that would be awesome.
I'll have codes to share in future. We only go cinema a few times a year.
"Those darling TV meerkats (or annoying little pests depending on your view) have launched a new promotion where, if you become a customer of theirs, you get access to 2for1 cinema tickets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for a year.
Well, we’ve come up with a jolly little wheeze to manipulate Meerkat Movies and get it for virtually nowt. Simples!"
The cheek!
Thanks
Thanks in advance.
I'm going cinema tonight and didn't realise you can't activate it for 48 hours..
Thanks.
"Sorry, we can't automatically validate your details for the selected product and brand. Please check you have selected the correct product and brand."
Here's the link: http://www.cineworld.co.uk/blog/compare-the-market-unveils-2-for-1-ticket-scheme-meerkat-movies
Also, can you book online or do you have to do it at the ticket office?
where does it show your insurance purchase
can only see the quotes
"Thanks for getting in touch.
It's great to hear you are interested in Meerkat Movies!
I'm very sorry to hear of the problems you are experiencing.
If I can kindly ask you to re-try activating your membership 48 hours after purchasing that would be great. This allows time for confirmation of your purchase to come through to us. You will then be able to start redeeming your codes.
I hope this helps but please get back in touch if you have any problems.
Kind regards"
Really joined up website...
The Meerkat Movies states the following in the FAQs:
What products qualify for the 2 for 1 cinema tickets?
To qualify for MEERKAT MOVIES membership, you need to purchase one of the following products via comparethemarket.com: car, motorcycle, home, van, pet, landlord, life, home/content or travel insurance. You can also qualify by taking out a credit card or loan or switch energy, digital TV or broadband supplier.
It (now?) says Travel insurance not eligible
From the CtM website:
Seems to be a number of people querying that their policies aren't being recognised when resolves have already been posted.
http://www.amccinemas.co.uk/
I tried again at 14:00 today and it still wouldn't work, I decided I would probably have to give it a full 48 hours.
Tried again a 3rd time at 22:00 tonight (Thursday) and it automatically detected I had purchased travel insurance and didn't even ask me to put my policy details in again. The activation was only 1 click away and hey presto - I have my code for next week!
Sorry, we can't automatically validate your details for the selected product and brand. Please check you have selected the correct product and brand.
Anyone had to wait longer and still had it work?
5.1.1 Travel insurance is still listed
Not on the main page though
Sorry for posting so late - I completely forgot about this. Hopefully it'll still help any late night goers
Thanks
Next time pm to the individual
Thanks for getting in touch.
It's great to hear you're interested in Meerkat Movies!
I'm sorry you’re having trouble activating your Meerkat Movie membership.
I’m happy to say that I’ve been able to create your Meerkat Movie membership for you.
Once you go back into your Meerkat Movies App, you should now be able to activate your Meerkat Movie Membership.
You may need to log out and log back into your App to ensure it recognises the changes we have made.
I hope this helps, and I hope you enjoy your Meerkat Movie experience.
Thank you
Waited 48 hrs, logged in the App and it worked straight away, got my code.
So to anyone signing up and getting the error code, wait 48hrs and then retry.
Just bought the £2.07 policy but won't let me activate the 2 for 1 pass yet.
I'll try to activate it again tomorrow.
Thought you could use Quidco or TCB for ComparetheMeerkats but couldn't find it.
So ill stick to waiting for a bluray release, still cheaper.
UPDATE: Rather impressively I have already heard from my local Picturehouse who say they are taking part in Meerkat Movies.
"Dear CTM, i recently purchasing travel insurance for my upcoming holiday and i noticed that i am eligible for the 2 for 1 meerkat movies. i entered my policy reference which is
ERVCTM71613
and it said
"Sorry, we can't automatically validate your details for the selected product and brand. Please check you have selected the correct product and brand."
why is this happening ???
even tried random numbers and it still doesn't work
downloaded the app still doesnt work
ive emailed them so should get a reply tomorrow
if anyone has any policy numbers that work id be greatful thanks
They emailed me back asking for the details, which I sent them by email again.
I have now received an email from them saying that my membership has been activated.
I have checked it out and it works.
I have got today's code but am not going to use it.
Whoever promises to donate £1 to charity can have it .. but I don't know how to send you a private mail.
Or I can give the code to Admin?
looks like wasted 2pound 07
((
HOWEVER, Picturehouse mention Meerkat Movies on their Facebook page.
Give them a call, if they are participating please let us know!

5. Qualifying Purchase
5.1 MEERKAT MOVIES is available to those who:
5.1.1 Purchased: car insurance, motorcycle insurance, van insurance, contents and/or buildings insurance, pet insurance, life insurance, landlord insurance or travel insurance;
As others have said.... it takes a while to recognise your policy number. I paid for my travel insurance about 2 hours ago and it still keeps saying that my purchase isn't valid. Try again tomorrow.
Logged in and it's saying I bought insurance through the on 01 January 0100 and as I bought insurance 22983 months ago I've got -14 days of 2for1 left ..... ?
But in the other window it says I need to buy a policy, but it's letting me reveal codes for today/tomorrow !?
Wtf.

In FAQ, clearly states travel insurance qualifies for meerkat movies as well as the T&C's 5.1.1.
You are correct in that accounts will not activate but simply contact via email and mention as above and will eventually activate.
I would not recommend buying solely if you want to go to the cinema today or tomorrow.
Am i missing something i just bought the policy and tried to enter the policy number ERVCTMxxxxx (my personal code) but still not able to claim ? :disappointed:
So £4 is a minor loss just a shame I can't find away to run the 241 membership from today, seems I have 8 months left.
Only thing, it says "Your MEERKAT MOVIES membership will expire on the 10th August 2015.". so it's not a full year? Has this been changed? 4 months is still really good but not as good as 12!
Anyway, no.
Why don't you buy something from Compare The market yourself?
No activation yet but will give them a few days before contacting them :innocent:

Cheers guys x
Worked fine.
Update for all you guys, I bought Travel policy 12:10am 12/4/15, i know it was an emergency, lol, Coudn't activate it throughout yesterday day time, emailed them via their 'contact us' section, advised on the purchase date and time and details that under their T & C's section 5 that Travel Insurance is a qualifying product.
I received email today around 12:35pm to confirm 2 for 1 activated......woohoo
I also know this meerkat voucher code will work for cineworld unlimited customers, as I used to get 2 free tickets on Orange with my unlimited card, so it's double wammy.
Enjoy
Oh dear. That was a big fail. The phone no. I found was only for press enquiries and the response to the email I sent was that they will contact me within 24 hours. I do not expect I will be able to activate my account from the date of purchase of policy as per the t&c's after all. Anybody else had any luck?
Code isn't working on the Meerkat site or App.
Same error message you all get. I have emailed support will see what they say.
Oh, just an excuse to say hi/ morning btw
Any ideas? Do I just need to try again in a few hours or something?
I emailed comparethemarket on Friday and they said try again on Monday but basically I think that is a delaying tactic to see if the purchase tracks.
I think it is a standard response they send out now because they are not just accepting any old policy number now but waiting until the policy tracks and that could take awhile.
I will email them on Monday though and will probably be told to wait again.
Says this on http://www.comparethemeerkat.com/ now. Possibly they've changed the offer to stop people taking advantage?
Although the terms and conditions still say:
If you could allow 72 hours for this purchase to come through to us, you will then be able to activate your membership and redeem your codes.
It is saying 'in order to get a meerkat Movies membership you need to have made a qualifying purchase through comparethemarket.com'
But I did take it out through compare the market.
After you've paid etc, login to your account, go through the claim Meerkat Movies and follow the quick and easy instructions, shouldn't take too long
Also thank you for this info, worked a treat
what are we going to see?
I can sneak in the snacks - chomps etc
Cheers OP.
50% off if you go alone?
FREE drink or popcorn with the code?
Etc :sunglasses:
Suggestions on a postcard/facebook/twitter to
the "Meerkat Lot" sooner, rather than later!
EDIT: Found it had to set posts per page to 60 instead of default 20.
Most of the questions cropping up since page 1 are answered there.
A few more Likes and it will be visible in Top Comments, which should save people the duplicate queries and confusion.
Thanks!
Went to activate and I already have an active policy showing which will expire on the 22nd of April.
How can I use my knew £2.05 policy?
Do you need to generate a new code / voucher for every week?
I did contemplate doing the free method.. but ... just in case, I'd rather have this for a year, than risk it, as once it's taken away, you might not be able to do this 'cheap' method any more.
Reading the T&Cs, it does look like they will verify purchases, which of course will fail if you dump random numbers in. But, you never know, you might get away with it

What does my insurance cover? Nothing except 2 for one cinema trips on Wednesday's
Does it include snow sports? No it doesn't.
What if my luggage is misplaced? You lose it and we do nothing.
If I can't go on holiday due to health issues am I covered? No, are you some kind of idiot. The answer to this an most other questions are in the first question above.
By continuing you understand that you are choosing MEERKAT MOVIES as your reward and will not be able to claim a toy this time.
I think a lot of people will be gutted when they click on what's happening. All for the sake of £1.37 for a full year lol
My concern now is random people using the fake numbers to invalidate my code.
Sign up with the cineworld site and they give you a discount which compensates for this
We're sorry, but we're having technical issues validating this voucher. Please try again.
Simon
So, it works now??. Therefore, not expired.
me, I just banged in any old number. i do have other policies I could fall back on if they block my codes at a later date.
How long would you like your cover to last?
And guidance says to enter at least 5 years.
Made my £1.37 purchase but after pressing 'activate membership' on the website i just get a blank screen (tried on 2 different browsers), and when i try on the android app, i get to the part where i enter the policy number, but then get the message "Sorry, to get meerkat movies membership you need to have made a qualifying purchase....."
Might start a new website - compare-the-webservers.com

The accounts buying the low cost travel insurance - this is in the current terms and conditions so no issue there. Depending on the volume gaming them they may introduce a minimum spend as ultimately they will need to prove incremental income from funding the 2 for 1 offer.
Thanks OP... 1.37 well spent.
You can use it in store without a booking fee though.
I just purchased this at £1.37. Thank you to the OP for posting such a good deal.

Personally, I just bought travel insurance through the site for £2.13 for a legitimate UK business trip next week - so my purchase is all legal and above board, and it validated my Meerkat Movies membership to 8th April 2016.
Purchased the insurance for £1.37, so met the T&Cs.
On my app, when I go to find a participating cinema, it displays all the old Orange Wednesday ones.
In my case, my local Odeon, Vue and Light cinemas.
 Bonus, very Hot thanks.
anybody found a way round this so I can get the 12 months and not 3?
Add a new policy on the app
Thanks very much

What happens if I cancel my policy?
If you cancel your policy or comparethemarket.com are unable to verify your qualifying purchase or switch, we reserve the right to revoke your MEERKAT MOVIES membership. We will of course let you know about this, a month in advance of it being revoked.
It will work today but soon they will start to check!
The app has a participating cinema part, Vue in Edinburgh is part so I would assume so

Amazing if you discovered this all by yourself OP...
You can also use the codes on line now with no booking fee at the odeon. Make sure you have two odeon accounts though, as its one code per account a week. And book kids together and adults together to maximise savings.

Since it can't be validated if it's valid until it's validated at point of sale and likely already used by one of the other million people.
There's helpful people
and there's people who want to help.
Paid £1.37, put policy number into https://meerkat-movies.comparethemarket.com and "Your MEERKAT MOVIES membership will expire on the 8th April 2016."
The travel insurance docs were instant but nowt else?
Just wondered
