Need some advice, in my account I have the "capped data rate £1 per day" enabled. I just had a look at my latest bill which is coming. Apparently I owe them £12.5 for going over the allowance.

Mobile data 1 MB 980 kB 552 B outside of allowance £12.50

Is this a fault on T-Mobiles end? I really dont understand why I am being charged £12.50 for 1MB when its capped at £1 in my account. Should I call and ask about it or just bite the bullet and pay up?

Has anyone successfully requested a nano SIM without impacting the T-Mobile contract?

How do I ensure they don't end up giving me am we nano SIM?

There is a free booster called "Capped Data Rate @ £1" if you add this then data will be charged £1 per day after exceeding allowance.

Somehow ended up with a £20 credit on the line rental. So looks like it will take a few years before I even start paying anything on it. The most insane deal ever. Shame it only got to 1616 degrees. Expired deals should be allowed to be up voted. This would be at 20K.

This has easily saved £110 per annum since inception. As long as you have a situation like free WiFi at home and at work. It is perfect.

I hope for your sake I am wrong.
Web n walk is a legacy product going back more than 10 years. Although it was marketed as unlimited. It was back then 40mb. Very few phones actually had 3G to download much more than that anyway and the web content on feature phones back then was very low content size.

Thought I'd share my experience in case it's useful for anyone:

Had this T-Mobile SIM, hardly used it. I have an EE contract with an iPhone.

EE contract came to an end so I asked if the number can be transferred over to my T-Mobile SIM. Which was fine.

I've had to order a new nano sim at the cost of £1.50 but I don't mind that. Note that no EE shops will do this for you as they don't hold stock of T-Mobile sims any more. You need to phone up.

I then called customer services to check my data allowance (500mb). I asked what can I add on to increase my data allowance. They suggested upgrading to EE (natch!). I said I was happy to stay on my current contract as it's a good deal, but wanted more mins. Advisor went away to speak to someone, came back and said because I'd been such a loyal customer - lol - they added free unlimited data for 6 months  It has appeared on my online account as Web N Walk.

Thanks. I did call them and they eventually said they would credit the amount back on to make it zero.

It's a nuisance and shouldn't have to be done

6 Mar 17 #1988
Call them. They will claim you went over your allowance. So ask them what your allowance was, and how much data you used. After looking it up, they will retract their claim that you exceeded your allowance and refund the overcharged amount.

Your final bill may or may not include the £8ish "loyalty discount". If it doesn't, that's bad luck - I wasn't able to convince them to apply the discount to the final bill.

That's how it worked for me - I've now cancelled all three of these SIMs, and now have oodles of data with Vodafone. Not that I'd recommend Vodafone to my worst enemies...

Completely a different type of deal. But if you are going over on your minutes texts or data each month and paying more then around £8.00 then I would go for it.

Personally have 3 of these Sims on Tmob and never really gone over the allowance, so I am sticking onto this as long as I possibly can ☺

Some dodgy SMS company was charging £1.50 per dodgy SMS. Don't ask. No clue. Was the wife's phone. She never saw what or why she was receiving. Anyway long story short, Tmobile refunded as credit. So I am in £20 credit, which should last a couple of years at the current rate.
markda2000
1 Mar 17 #1982
Should increase to 64 pence per month from the end of March.
Technically I think if they are increasing the RPI they should also apply that to the discount values too. As otherwise the increase to the tariff is disproportionate to the true RPI. However we would be able to get out of the contract without penalty (if we were in contract)

How is the T-mobile reception for you?

I almost get zero signal at home, as well as out - and this is in London.

Goes straight to voicemail more often than not.

Wonder if this is more of a push by EE to switch off more of their 3g bands, versus their EE 4g bands which have been increasing.

I can't remember what number i rang - just whatever the customer service number for T-Mobile is. I wasn't playing hardball - all i said was that i was running out of data each month and i wanted to look at options for getting more, and she immediately came up with this offer. I have had a couple of bills since, and can confirm the discount remains. It sounds like the EE/T-Mobile call centre staff are very inconsistent with what they offer, so i'd imagine i was just very lucky.
abulkasam
10 Nov 16 #1970
Can you explain in detail who you rang?

What was discussed?

How you managed to blag it?

How did you confirm the discount remains?

Have you confirmed through a month's statement if it works - or do you need to wait for the next month?

This would be amazing if it works!

I phoned up a few months back to ask for more data, expecting them to try and move me to EE. Instead they gave me an extra 2gb free a month for the next 6 months, after which they will review my usage and then change my allowance accordingly 8). Only problem is, the extra data doesn't show on my account dashboard - just shows as me having 500mb left as i think i need to use the extra data first before it uses my normal allowance.

I have 3x £2.50 discounts, 1 has no end date while the other 2 end 18th Nov.

I had three of these SIMs, but have recently transferred out two of my numbers because I needed more data.

Advice for anybody else who transfers out: T-mobile's billing system can't cope with data that's used on the day you transfer your number. For one SIM they tried to charge me £7 for 1MB of data used "outside my allowance", and the other SIM they billed me £240 for 37MB "outside my allowance". In both cases actually I had loads of data left in my allowance. They corrected the errors when I complained, but make sure you check your bills!

The "loyalty bonus" also doesn't seem to apply to the last month, so expect a few pounds extra on your final bill for that reason too.

Well, it's time for me to jump ship. It's been a great deal, but 500MB of data just isn't enough these days, and T-mobile won't let me buy a data add-on! So i'm going for the e2save Vodafone SIM-only with 15GB data for only £7.50/month (after cashback).

17 May 16 #1952
I''ll be sticking to my guns don't wory, you mention placing discounts on my account as long as they have no end date like my boosters did, I'll be happy

when I phoned up think the guy thought he had me, stating the discounts should of finshed etc, until I pointed out I had screen shots of all the discounts including the ones that had expired

to be fair as well the guy in the shop has been helpful, although I can't understnd why it hasn't been sorted now, as he said leave until C.O.B Monday (from the previous Friday) although as we speak its still the same

2 active acounts with no details at all of what I am on for minutes, texts or data ??
markda2000
17 May 16 #1951
It is what I feared. I think they will eventually get it sorted for you, even if it requires placing large credits on the account in lieu of discounts. Never the less it's a pain. Hope it all goes well.

17 May 16 #1950
well at present I'm in between Tmobile & EE (going round in circles)

following this post last week I went straight back to the local EE shop (spoke to the same guy)
said I wasn't happy, wanted to go back to Tmobile with the same discounts (as they had not moved across)

The guy seemed sound to be fair, stating yeah no problem then set about updating the system issuing me with a form to state what he was doing (looking good !!!) said it would take 24 hours
Phones EE on Saturday to explain my situtation, after a while the guy waffled something about the discounts should of finsihed by now and would do me a the deal I got with a £5 discount
I pointed out I had screen shots of all my boosters with the dates on explaining how £7.50, £0.50 & £0.50 had no end date on them unlike others I had
his attitude changed then (let me speak to my supervisor, again) then he said you will have to go back to the shop then to sort this out
goes back to the shop on Monday, explained nothing had changed despite his it takes 24 hours then he said with it being the weekend wait until tomorrow (today)
check my online accounts earlier, still nothing has changed
bit strange really
I have a Tmobile account with no accounts details & no phone number
I also have a EE account with a diferent number (the new number I took) with no details either
yet my old Tmobile number still works

hope your not to confused

19:30 just checked both acounts, still the same as above

can see me going back to EE on Thursday

I've got 2 of these sims still going and theyre used as back ups. My May bill was still 29p each so my June bill will be the 1 that sees the annual rpi increase. strange things going on
yesterday we recieved a call the EE, about this deal
telling us we are due an upgrade, The Mrs said I was out and to call back

today due to another deal on here I had to go into the local EE shop to change the sim (size for iphone)
they guy tells me they had not Tmobile Sims (but could get one tomorrow) so do I want an EE sim
agrees on the basis everything is the same, he they now long do the deal, they new deal is 50p more (i can live with that)

so he sets about changing my number from the Tmobile Micro sim to the EE Nano Sim
stating it will take upto 24 hours for things to change over, looks like the phone has changed as calls/texts etc are working fine

However the worrying thing is my Loyalty Boosters appear to have dissappeared from my new online account ??
not sure if its the 24 hours things or what ??
can see me going back to the shop insisting on the Tmobile Sim, good job I still have screen prints off the loyalty boosters

watch this space

Just recently had another EE contract taken out in my name without me knowing oO I found out from the first bill I received in the post which also asked me to confirm my direct debit details which were correct.
I called EE and got it cancelled even though calls were made already made abroad, they didn't even sound bothered about the fraud! I also had to change my bank account to be extra safe. EE was the only direct debit I had linked with this bank account so I suspect my details were leaked by EE!

How do they even do this? Where would they get the SIM card from? Sent to a address different to the billing address or collect in store using my info??

I've been on this deal since the start but unfortunately 500Mb isn't enough anymore - seem to go over it every month and it almost cancels out the saving. Plus signal isn't great and I want some 4G.

Nope, not for me.

On the App it shows two lots of £4 discount with no end date, and online it shows a single £4 discount and says "Recurring cost - Free"

I have never know the muppets at EE on the phone lines to know anything at all useful. What they told you just sounds like a fob-off.

My view is the same as it was at the end of the first 12 months - Keep quiet and see what happens. If it rolls on, great, if not, then it was a good ride whilst it lasted and at worst I will be £8 or £16 down in the time it takes me to move elsewhere.

The experience of people last time seemed to prove this, and some of those who did stick their head above the parapet and start asking EE questions, got their accounts flagged up for action.

Also, what does it say on the green squares, is there a date on them, next to the 'recurring cost' part?

So then, my discounts end 18th Nov so I called a few times trying to get it renewed and was successful after 4 attempts!
My new end date is blank yaaaay! BUT the guy said everybody's discount will end in January because tmobile will no longer want the free contracts running and want people to be on a EE tarrif.

Btw. Retentions kept refusing to extend my discounts but the last person I spoke to told me customer service could only help me with that so they put me through and the customer service guy did re-apply my discounts.

Can anyone help as to what I should do in such situation- I have started using more data (but am still on the 500mb allowance a month) and therefore I contacted ee via live chat and asked the advisor whether I would be charged if I go over my limit, she confirmed that once I reached my limit I would not be able to use any data, hence this will prevent me from paying additional charges for going over the data (I have got the chat saved were she confirmed this information). However as I have gone over the limit, they have now started charging me for the data that I am using as I have gone over the 500mb. What do you think I should do?

I cancelled the 2 sims this time last year as they wouldn't offer me anything worthwhile. But after reading some of the stories here I phoned back within my 30 day cancellation period and explained that some people were still getting an £8 monthly discount. The guy spoke to a supervisor and said he could put on for me and there would be no end date. I asked for confirmation of this and he sent me a text stating both of my number and which I've kept: "you'll be getting your £8 discount for numbers xxx and xxx for lifetime with the same plan". Obviously it wont be for life (I was with orange broadband for 'life' on a great deal before they kicked everyone off when they became ee) but I'm happy enough in the meantime and when they decide to boot me off, possibly when they totally scrap Tmobile, I'll kick up a fuss and see what they offer.

I can't remember when the discount was removed but I did upgrade her to the £11 plan with 500 minutes and 1GB of data, taking away the discount meant she was paying £3 per month for a while. Once the discount ended she's been paying £11ish ever since (plus the extra few pence each month thanks to RPI inflation).

I've got an £8 discount on both of my sims with no end date on the discount so I'm continuing at 29p/month each due to the RPI increase. 1 month i was charged 66p but didn't question it as I didn't want my accounts flagged. They are basically back up sims which I use to ring 084/7 numbers so will carry on until I'm forcibly kicked off. There will also be a point where I wont pay the increases because of RPI and as they're back ups will just cancel them.

The debate ran at the end of the initial 12 month period and the smart advice then was to do and say nothing. If the price went up the you had one month at the higher rate which you could argue successfully against if the booster showed no end date. For all those with no end date now, the key is to again do nothing. I have never contacted Tmobile / EE regarding renewing. Only once having to ring for being erroneously charged, which they gave me £12 credit back for. In fact my account on two Sims has not cost me a bean yet. And I am still £4.50 in credit. I never use more than my allowance and don't draw attention to my account

So things are changing. I've just now had two of my sims stripped of loyalty discount "Due to the commitment period ending"
When asking what that means, they stated "the commitment period is the time of the initial contract" which contradicts the idea of a loyaly discount in my opinion.

I have a couple more sims that still have loyalty but it looks like it may be the end of the road come the end of this year's contract.

Cheers for the info. My discount has carried on still, well after the initial 12 months, also there is no end date when I check "My Account" online, so presume this will continue on forever, unless the give me 30 days to terminate.

I only use the Data part of this contract anyway, I have the SIM in my integrated 3G slot in my Lenovo laptop, the minutes and texts don't get touched.

This SIM is mainly used when I work away and only used when I need to use the internet in an emergency, so if it got taken away from me, it would not be the end of the world.

My sim gave me exactly 12months and the discount didnt continue only cancelled last month even though discount ended few months ago and was told they can carry over the £8 discount if i renew with ee.

They would most probably say they cannot renew it becuase their priority is now to switch everyone to 4g, google it to see for yourself. So I wouldn't bring it to their attention just carry on as long as you can and once discount exp then consider going to ee.

toughCookie
3 Mar 15 #1822
So if I'm reading this correctly, those that did nothing and waited it out to see if the loyalty discounts rolled over are winners here. As these will not be affected right?

While those that renewed the contract will loose out unless they can get a good offer for upgrading to EE?
nascent
3 Mar 15 #1821
All tmobile contracts (and orange) with loyalty discount (including ours) are losing their loyalty discount if they have an expiry date on them. I have 2 family members who's contracts are coming to an end this month, one of which has a loyalty discount expiry date and the other doesn't (which is strange they were both set up the same time). I was told the one with the expiry date and continue as is, the other one will lose all loyalty discount, even if renewing for a fixed year contract, it must be upgraded to an EE contract to get any discount (nowhere near the same deal, despite having these contracts (and periodically renewing them with discount for years).

So all the people that renewed their free tmobile sims before christmas will lose them this year, as they wont be able to renew them with the loyalty discount, so will either have to pay full price or 'upgrade to ee'.
FraserGJ
2 Mar 15 #1820
At the moment, nothing at all. Things will just continue as normal.

It'll only be an issue if at some point in the future they decide to force existing Orange/T-Mobile customers to move to EE. This will probably only happen when there are so few customers left on Orange/T-Mobile that it becomes pointless to continue the seperate brands.
TK2013
1 Mar 15 #1819
What exactly does this mean for our 23p contracts?
markda2000
28 Feb 15 #1818
I never said the discount was forever. EE/T-mobile can give notice of termination at any time. They would however need to give 30 days notice of this. Despite EE ending new Orange / Tmobile new connections this is not a danger to this deal, the biggest threat is BT. In fact EE are probably that we are on this deal as it swells the subscriber base, making the numbers add up in the negotiations regarding the sale. Once BT are in place they will see how many subscribers are on crazy George deals and will take action. The question is how long it takes for them to act.
markda2000
28 Feb 15 #1817
Not at all, this thread is about the original deal. If the discount ended, then you are no longer on the original deal. if you agreed a new deal you are then also on a new deal.

Anything going through the browser would come out of my allowance, but facebook, twitter, emails and BBM were being charged. Rang them up and at first they said there'll be a 7 day investigation and to keep using my phone as normal as I would be refunded, second call said they couldn't guarantee I would be refunded, third call got the charges refunded (finally) I've just got to wait until the 21st to see if they actually charge me or not.

I agree, the T-Mobile website is all over the place. I do hope they continue to offer 08 numbers late May/early June on their SIMO plans as that's when my phone contract ends. Saved a lot of money so far by not having to use the landline to make these sometimes expensive (0844/0871) calls!

I know that, and I've read your post before. Your screen shots mean you're not getting charged for 08 numbers. However, just because you are not currently getting charged for 08 numbers, and I am also not currently getting charged for 08 numbers, it doesn't mean T-Mobile won't charge for them at some time in the future.

What I was looking for was proof from T-Mobile that this price plan includes calls to 08 numbers, and I've found it now. The T-Mobile website is quite contradictory.

I have said this many times, and I'll say it again...

All 08 numbers are inclusive as part of this SIM Only tariff.

I have never been charged for an 08 call using this SIMO tariff, or my regular phone contract tariff.

Sorry if I sound quite abrupt, it's just that I'm quite tired of repeating myself to people who are too scared to dial an 08 number from their SIM to find out themselves...

Here's a link to one of my posts proving 08 numbers are included (albeit on a phone tariff rather on SIMO):

If you own an Android phone there are some really powerful and easy-to-use data settings that let you limit your usage and you can also enable data notifications to let you know how much you've used and how much you have left.

I imagine there are similar things on iOS and BB.

T-Mobile always used to have tools on My T-Mobile to limit usage and prevent charges too - it was under Parental Controls.

Just to update this - I've been over my allowance for the last 3 days and have been charged £2.50+VAT, so £1 a day for going over - no warning text - no slow down - just a nasty bill wanting actual money from me at the end of the month

Make sure you check your balance WEEKLY! so you know what you have left allowance wise. A minute or two over or a few texts or a few MB over makes it more expensive than most tariffs that would have given you way more in terms of allowance, flexibility and service.

Now that my bill is showing at 23p for next month and that it seems the discount is rolling on, did anyone ever manage to add this data booster by texting WEBM2L to 879 or establish how to buy a larger data allowance?

The "buy 1.5GB extra in the MyEE app doesn't work (no surprise there) but the app says to text WEBM2L to 879, but I just get a message failed to send error.][/quote]

I experienced the same. Called T-Mobile and was told no data bundles are available for my contract despite the offer being available under the Add Boosters section on the EE app.

Just got my latest bill (post the 12 months)
I never renegotiated my contract as my discount boosters showed no end date, and to my relief the next bill - going into Dec/Jan is still at the 22 pence, price.
Plus as I successfully argued with Tmob, when they initially charged me a penny per month for a so-called free contract (this happened as they applied two £4 discounts and with the rounding down n eacher discount as the VAT was added to each discount meant a charge each month of a penny) and they credited me with £12 as recompense, I am still in Credit, and will be for the foreseeable future on both my SIMS, so long as I do not hit any overage.

Sorry guys not kept up with this thread since last year. Finally got round to phoning up to cancel and the advisor told me that the discount on my line doesn't have an expiry date so I shouldn't have to pay full price even after the contact ends. Not had my next bill yet, but is there any way to check if this is true other than waiting for the bill to come in next month? Anyone else experienced this?
abulkasam
25 Nov 14 #1752
You need to check your balance on a weekly basis - and possibly use a different sim when you get close - i'd suggest a three 3 2 1 sim. It's not worth getting stung when you do on this tariff, when you go beyond your allowance.
mamboboy
25 Nov 14 #1751
Yep, I had it enabled after the phone on my other account decided to download app updates over mobile data a few months into the contract. I also set the phone to never go over 450MB a month with data so I knew I was always covered.

How much did you get charged? To me it seems that requesting your PAC/asking to leave removes certain settings/reductions from your account - which is why I was getting charged so much for data - there's absolutely no way 6MB (pretty much a song on Spotify) should be costing over £40! I'm sure it's like £5 for an extra 500MB for the month or something?

I assume lots of people that have migrated out must have been stung like us, possibly being charged much more than me if that's the fee for 6MB!
prk
25 Nov 14 #1750
I think there is a free add-on which will limit your data charges to £1 per day. I think this will help anyone who is prone to over use data.

See my post #1755. I have been with T-Mobile for a number of years and never gone over the allowance. Then for no apparent reason.. in my final month after receiving PAC codes both my lines are charged for going over the allowance.

Now that you've mentioned it has happened to you..I'm wondering if it's worth chasing up again
mamboboy
25 Nov 14 #1748
Certainly looks like haggling/holding out was the best option. I've had so much grief porting two numbers out due to monumental t-mobile **** ups. First I was charged an early termination fee on two accounts that shouldn't have been charged and took 3 weeks to get a promised refund actually refunded... and then I get this final bill through the door today:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B3Sv3McCYAAvTro.jpg

£41.26 charge for supposedly going 6MB over my data, despite my allowance being 500MB and me using just over half. The advisor tried to tell me I used 4GB in one day at the end of October, which is pretty ridiculous and pretty much impossible on 3G by occasionally browing Instagram/Facebook (and it also funnily enough wasn't on the bill I received l so I said good luck trying to get that money off me!).

Around £70 they've tried to extract from me in this final month!

I don't often lose my cool with customer support, but today was an exception as they are really pushing me to the end of my tether... so now the bill has been wiped! (or so they claim :/)

Now I'm stuck with TalkTalk who I struggle to get even dialup speeds with when I'm indoors and some SMS take 24 hours to send, slower than a 1st class letter. Very poor service

Just an update following my previous posts... Got my bill yesterday and something rather weird has happened. I have one number that has it's existing £8 discount still applied, and one number that has had it's £8 discount removed but my £3 upgrade discount applied instead... Total bill therefore £5.22 for both numbers even though I upgraded them both to the £5.22 tariff!! oO

Now I'm in a predicament... Do I ring up and ask for the other £8 discount to be re-applied at the risk of them noticing their error and removing the existing £8 discount, or do I just leave it as it is and enjoy paying £5.22 for 2 sim only's for the next 12 months? I cancelled my 2 contracts just over 4 weeks ago. Was only offered an £8/month tariff and declined as they are back up sims. Having read the comments here thought I'd ring again on the 30th day to see what they could do. Got offered exactly the same deal 22p/month for both on a rolling basis and obviously kept them as they are useful for the 08 number calling facility of nothing else. The advisor sent a text to my phone stating £8/month discount for life as long as i pay the annual RPI increases. Thanks to the advice from people here to ring back and go through to retentions etc. Wait for the first bill now...

I rang up T-Mobile yesterday, Hoping to cancel as I didn't know if I was going to be charged after the end of the 12 Months. The guy in retentions said that when I took on this contract, There is a PERMANANT £8.00 discount, as long as I keep the contract. I just have to pay the increase in the plan, on a monthly basis, which is currently 22p :-). Of course then I decided not to cancel and keep on the same plan. Hopefully if all goes well and in 4 weeks time, I'll only get charged 22p for a month. I'll keep you all posted.......

FraserGJ
21 Nov 14 #1729
I've found that around here the signal/network isn't the best.

I get a weak signal in my house (new build) but not no signal at all, besides I have a landline and broadband at home so less of an issue. As long as texts work then it is fine.

I get full 3G signal at work but for some reason, no actual data is recieved by my phone (and hasn't for the last few days).

I can't really complain too much for 22p a month.

It would be nice if 4G was offered. As EE have Orange and T-Mobile running as seperate entities I'm hoping they'll decide to get rid of T-Mobile and move us all over to EE at some point - in which case 4G will be available and hopefully our discounts will migrate over at the same time (the whole "you won't notice any changes in what you're paying after migration" chestnut).

my new contract didn't show up online in the end so I rang back again to double check,
it hadn't gone through properly due to the existing pac code on the account but there were notes confirming and they sorted it.
it's now showing online with no expiry on the boosters, so hopefully won't have to go through all this again next year now...

p.s. watch out with the new my ee app, it uses up loads of data to check your allowance!

As a result, I managed to get all my SIM cards with the discounts again when I phoned up - although a slightly different department. The person added the £8 discount to each of the SIM cards, so I'm paying 22p each. And this all happened whilst in my 30 days cancellation period.

called back again straight away and tried the cancellation option one last time.
got through to another northerner who offered to renew the existing plan and discount for another 12 months.

she said they had done a lot of these offers recently, it's not showing on my online account yet but I was told I now have a verbal contract with 14 days to cancel, so will have to wait and see... if it doesn't happen i'll give up and get a new pac code next week!

I'm very surprised that Retentions aren't offering you the £5.22 offer, or even advising you to stay as you are and pay £8.22 a month. The £9.99 plan is an EE plan, right? If so, insist on staying with T-mobile due to not having a 4G handset and see what they say?

I think the person said on the phone that "they were going through updating them", I presume that means everyone on this deal will be updated then. I asked for a PAC on Friday but despite this at sometime between then and my call yesterday someone took the end dates off without me asking.

My discounts don't cover the whole cost of my contract though, so I'm still paying 22p a month for my basic plan. I might be pushing my luck trying to get the discount increased to cover the 22p though... I think £2.64 over 12 months is affordable :sunglasses:

So.....I called up retentions about 2 weeks ago and never got the free renewal offered to me, I tried and tried but was offered a £9.99 tarrif, £8 and the best I got after calling a few times was £5.70 so I took it.

A few days ago I found out that everyone I told about this deal last year all have either renewed at either £0 or 24p per month and even those who ordered multiple sims have go it too and there's me with my £5.70 offer.

Today I called (option to cancel) and tried to get through to retentions in the UK but after nearly 2 hours with 3 different calls I got passed around to 5 different people and even got hung up on once. Everyone I spoke to (out of UK) asked me the reason for leaving if I wanted to get passed through to retentions, I told them and was put on hold and then the next person would ask me the exact same question and this happened 5 time until I shouted down the phone and then it went silent for 30 secs oO and it started ringing and and hurray it finally was retentions

After explaining to the woman that everyone I knew got renewed and I didn't she said she couldn't guarantee the £8 discount but would try but first she had to cancel the contract renewal I'd accepted on 1st Nov (£5.70) and said it should be cancelled in 3-5 days as I'm still with my 14 days cooling period and she would then call me back and try and renew with the discount. As of now I'm still on my old free tarrif which ends on the 18th, so fingers crossed for when she calls back (hopefully she does)

Sorry for the essay btw :stuck_out_tongue:

When I first rang, he said it was ending, or he implied so. Hence the £5.22 offer. When I rang back, I selected the option to cancel my plan on the menu. I think that takes you to the right area (retentions) who have the power to offer you the renewal. But maybe they have a thing whereby they only offer it if you've been offered something else first and still want to cancel. The first guy made no mention of the option of it being renewed. But the second guy told me he perhaps didn't have that kind of authority and that they are offering it to EVERYONE who took out the original offer.

Keep trying. Say you want to cancel. Say you want to pay nothing. Say you are going onto pay as you go. Say anything to try and get this deal!

On my online account it shows the 8-12 plan is good until Nov next year but the £8 discount box is not showing. I rang again today to confirm it was going to be applied and the guy I spoke to sent me a confirmation text.

Knew I should have tried my luck more instead of porting out so quickly! One of my accounts is on TalkTalk now and the 3G signal is absolutely pathetic. Despite their coverage checker saying I can get it indoors and out, I'm almost always stuck with 2G inside any building no matter where I am  I seriously think they intentionally weaken it so people splash out £100 on their signal booster!

But back on topic... T-Mobile have given me hell this last month - I rang within 30 days to get my PAC codes for two accounts, was given ONE code for two numbers (told it was fine at the time), which gave me all sorts of problems.
So that took a week to sort out, then I check my account and realise I've been charged a £15 'early termination fee'.... Can anyone explain how you are told to notify about leaving within 30 days of the contract ending, but then get punished for actually doing it? I'd have been better off chancing it by maybe paying £1 more and letting the contracts roll on to see if the discount still applied!
Plus I was told to port out within 30 days before the PAC ends, and there was absolutely no mention of the charge when I originally asked for the codes either. Basically the last 10 days have been me phoning and being assured it will be automatically refunded, only to get a text message yesterday saying it won't be as it's "correct".

I'm typically calm and willing to listen when talking to customer support, but I phoned today demanding the money be refunded or I'll just get the bank to do it. She said she'll process it but going by the customer 'service' I've endured this month I really don't expect to ever see it actually appear in my account!

P.S. Congrats to those who managed to get another 12 months with the discount! Terrible CS but the best signal/3G coverage in the UK IMO (Boo!) :disappointed:

After getting through to retentions team, I just requested if I could have the same discount - and after keeping me on hold for a minute or two, said yes. You've got to get to the retentions team!!! It's the only way. Normal customer services have no power or authority. The one thing that any mobile company doesn't like is "churn" (churn = the loss of customers to other networks). Dispute this offer being free. You've got to demand speaking to the right individuals/team! Otherwise threaten them that you'll email the director of EE. Take their full name if they don't cooperate with you. Then they know you mean business!

Ok boys & girls. You are going to love me if you haven't left this service!

Just spoke to the retentions team the in Sunderland office. A brilliant man by the name of Dave Hyde in Retentions team 408. Dave works for Lyndsey Atherton (Lyndsey is the manager of Retention Team 408).

Dave has extended 3 of my sim only deals for another 12 months!!!! That's right FREE T-Mobile deal for those still on 250mins, 500 mins & 500mb of data.

Dave deserves a medal!!

So those who haven't left please follow these instructions.

Ring 150...follow the procedure to leave T-mobile/EE. Ask to speak to anyone in Lyndsey Atherton's team! Then wait for the good news!!!! Thanks.

Looks like thats a big no.

I managed to get one of my sims re-instated (had asked for it to be converted to PAYG at contract end) but phoned today and got a friendly lady who re-setup the £8.22 contract with £8 discount.

Thought I would try my arm and ask about the 2nd (which I had already accepted a £5.29 offer on) - she put me on hold to look into it but a few minutes later confirmed that as I had accepted the new contract and it had been processed there was nothing she could do - the only silver lining was that I had previously upgraded to the £11 1GB tarriff with £8 discount - so at least I'm getting 1GB for my fiver...

Yesterday

Yesterday you said you couldn't be bothered ringing.

If you have rang and have found it to difficult to traverse an IVR system to get through to customer services, then I apologise that it must be too hard for you.
Perhaps has your friend has got their own phone now you could get the SIM card back off them.
And the RPI increase is on he full cost of the tariff. The tariff has discounts on it but the discounts are not subject to RPI. (edit - seen your point about the discount  )

Perhaps if you spent less time posting on here and more time trying to organise your end of contract cancelation I wouldn't need to get the violin out at all. But whilst it's still out feel free to name a tune.

Oh and if you can't take a bit of banter this website is certainly not the place to be. I offerd help as well as banter.

RPI increase I thought was a percentage? Any % of 0.. is 0. (Edit - nevermind just realised it's of £8 and discount is only £8 )
The sim card isn't even being used = reason I want to cancel it... as in it's free yes but it's not being used so I'd still like to cancel.
I don't have a sim because my friend was using it, but she's got her own one out now.

And really? I rang off another phone, did you actually read my comment?
Comment about the violin was completely unnecessary.. I'm not whinging about 23p, I'm whinging about no e-mail address... put your violin back where it came from.
markda2000

Let me just get the violins out.

It's 23 pence because of the RPI increase. Don't know why you don't have a SIM but you can obtain another if it is lost. You can ring from another phone, the numbers is on SayNoto0870's website.

And as for the SIM card isn't even being used comment - whose fault is that. Would you expect not to pay the finance on a car if you never drove it?

My Discount ends on the 18th November after that the price increases to £8 per month. I took a few of these out so they all add up i guess. if you don't use the PAC the contract/account is meant to carry on, it shouldn't terminate automatically.
i asked for mine in October and got the dodgy termination charge on my latest bill too,
you should get any advance line rental back to even it out if you do leave, on the final bill.

oddly enough, my online account now has a discounts section, which has never been there before.
tmobile.ee.co.uk/ser…ay/

my girlfriend just got offered the £5.22 offer (£3 off per month) on her account via live chat as hers is expiring too.

does anyone know any other sims available that allow inclusive calls to 08 numbers?
it's probably worth keeping just for that, when others charge 30-40p a minute for these calls.

also, i'm pretty sure this 'accidental' tmobile offer happened more than one year running, so will see if i can find the threads from previous years to see what happened to people after the expiry dates...

Funny thing is their best offer was £12 for a worse tariff than I'm on now, I basically just laughed and said "Nah, I'm alright!".

What's also a load of BS is my bill this month is £14 or something as I've been charged 'early termination fees' (despite not leaving early) - they said it's normal and they'll refund it within 2 weeks, but I don't believe them one bit!

2 Nov 14 #1615
It is clear from the mixture of answers that people have been receiving that nobody at EE that you can actually speak to knows the truth. Does this surprise me? No. T-Mobile customer services were always crap. If you asked three advisers to tell you which day of the week it was you would would have got three answers. So would I expect that they could give an accurate answer on something more complex like this? I thing the different information people have been given answers that question.

So enjoy your new contract, but will you be thinking  if she was wrong and you are now stuck in a new contract paying £5.70 not £0.23.

If my next bill comes through showing £8.22 then I will decide what to do, and perhaps ask for the £5.70 tariff, in which case I will have lost £2.52. Is it comes through showing £0.23 I have benefited. How much? Well if it carries on for a year £65.64 and onwards every year. So a stake of £2.52 could win me £65.64 or £131.28 or £196.92, etc. Those seem reasonable odds to me.

One would think you could rely on the evidence provided by others, but when dealing with contact centre with limited access to the Internet, to view posts here, or a general refusal to look on the basis 'this is not your account that you are asking me to look at so the info there has no bearing' it would be in each account holders interest to get there own written confirmation. We have separate webchats for our accounts, just to make the conversation we will have at some future time easier.

I don't personally believe this free SIM was a cock up by tmobile UK. The non ending discount I am not sure about though. I believe that tmobile offered the free SIM only deal at a time that it was desperate to increase its user base to satisfy the parent company. Previous to this offer they had been losing customers, quarter after quarter whilst their average monthly revenue per custormer was generally deemed in the market to be higher than the competition. I would think their thinking was that they could hit their target aquistion sales whilst still maintain their target for average revenue per connection from the wider user base.
Crazy logic, but when given certain targets to meet, it is easy to see how a company's thinking could bend in order to hit those targets.

For those that didn't stay within there limits. You should have changed tariff to increase your allowance - it is very rare that you could go over a threshold by just a small consistent amount each min that would be less than the next tariff up.

My other half and I have had three of these SIMs and never been charged outside the allowance. Two are in tablets and one in a phone. I am even in credit on one of the accounts so effective tmobile owe me money, and by the end of the term should still be £9.xx to the good.
There has definitely been a mistake in the no end date for the discount being set. The trick is to get an agent to confirm this in some written media. Webchat I think is preferable to a SMS. I would imagine tmobile are going to stop the discount, do not think for one minute the higher decision makers there are not aware of this situation and will be doing something about it. However, whilst they formulate how they remove the discount from all the effected accounts ( which is not hard to do) agents are confirming still there is no end date. Tmobile need to weight up the back lash of customers who have had confirmation of the discount not ending when they finally remove the discount, and as to what churn they will recieve naturally at the end of the initial 12 month. From this thread there are obviously many that have already moved onto chargeable tariffs for another 12 months, and many that are disconnecting before the possibility at a chargeable tariff kicks in.

All I asked was will my service run at the current rate and charges that I pay at present, the operator said yes and then gave me the info on the discount without even asking. I did ask when it will expire and they said it wouldn't as there is no date for it to do so, not unless I cancel the service.

I did ask if they could send this by text so aid my memory lol. So they did

Will wait until next month and to upgrade the tariff now

No called account and billing queries, options something like 1 1 3 5. Remember 5 being last option i pressed.

As with most companies bills are generated in advance for the next months period, so in theory people will be getting their bills now for the month leading up to and a few days beyond their 12 month anniversary date (the first bill would have been produced a few days after connection for the full month and a few days) , so I would expect for those people whose discounts were set to end on a specific date, and the bill period ends beyond discount period to get a pro rata charge on the latest bill.

My bill produced today goes beyond the 12 month period and I have not been charged for any line rental (save the IPR increase) although my discount booster showed no end date.

How did you even find out about the charges, was next month's bill already generated?
dybydx
28 Oct 14 #1589
Along the lines of "I would like to give my 30-days notice and request my PAC".

Apparently I am deemed to have terminated my contract early as soon as I requested my PAC (I think most of us this contract deal should end on the 18th of November) which I find ridiculous as I am still connected and haven't used it yet. I gave the example that if I decided to stay and carry on with T-mobile that I would have basically paid for a PAC that I didn't use.

That other Non-DD charge he didn't even know and "guessed" that it was due to me making a card payment back in JUNE. WDF? That was sorted back in June anyway. Why would it appear on my October statement?

Anyway, after about 20 minutes on hold and advisor asking his supervisor/manager for advice, its sorted now. Both charges reversed and credited back to my account. Advisor couldn't actually explain why either charges were applied, and to be honest, I couldn't be bothered to find out.

That makes sense transformer dude it does seem they messed up on some accounts applying no end dates. It's worth staying on for those told the deal won't expire because by law they need to notify us it's now 8 or £5 as the case may be. Are those that got told their discount doesn't have an end date holding out on renewing or just taking the £5.22 offer?

I can't see them letting it carry on without paying anything again.
Transformers
28 Oct 14 #1583
Right, let me clarify things once and for all...

Some of you will have a discount on the account which has no end date, and some of you will have an end date; which ends a year from the contract start date. It's pot luck what you got. That's why some of you have been told your discount ends on __ date and some have been told otherwise.

Nevertheless I clarified with the agent, does that mean these people will have the discount forever? The agent replied 'we are looking into it', which basically means T-Mobile are probably going to remove it soon. This makes sense too, since they have introduced the £5 minimum amount, which they offered me too (£5.22 to be exact).

Hope this helps.

Like the other post said it's greyed out because you can't change it. The way I look at it is they still have to give me a £4 discount recurring for free if they bail on my 23p per month. I consider the text a contract because it's in writing. I suggest everybody asks for a text to confirm whatever the agents are telling you. This way you have a paper trail. We'll find out next month who's the sucker and who's the winners.

The Keiran I spoke to had a scottish accent - this is because I couldn't understand some of what he said when he spoke fast so got him to repeat it. Ring back and ask to speak to him again and ask him to send you a text?

I also spoke to Kieran this morning at retentions approx 1hr before you, after being transferred to him because I wanted to cancel making the point that other people were being told that their discounts had no expiry date. He explained that this was "non-compliance" by the agents due to the new "Minimum £5/month price rules" introduced by EE some months ago, and that said agents would be dealt with internally! to keep my custom, he offered me the £5.22 retention deal. This being the only offer I have received in the last 15-20 attempts to renew, I promptly snapped his hand off! He also gave me a £2.64 bill credit as a gesture of goodwill for the previous troubles I had been having.

To summarise... I WAS extremely happy to receive the £5.22 offer... now though, extremely angry!!! I am going to ring again and request to speak to Kieran again or his manager, demanding someone takes responsibility for the inconsistency in the way some discounts have been set up/applied compared with others, and if that they do not provide me with a non-expiring discount, I shall cancel my contracts under the 14-day cooling off period rules. Totally outraged at this.. totally unacceptable service by EE/T-mobile!!!

I think its greyed out as its not an option you can change.

There is little point in people comparing thier online views of thier accounts - it was obvious at the time of the original offer, and even more obvious at renewal that T-Mobile setul the accounts in many different ways, and applied the discount is many different ways too. There is no consistency here.

The only way to know what you'll be offered is to get in touch.

(BTW I had a free (£8, 500MB) and £3 (£11, 1GB) contracts - was offered nothing on each, told discount would definitely end. 500Mb one has been converted to PAYG, 1GB one I accepted the £5.29 offer to extend for another 12 months).

I asked him to text me that and he did. He also put a note on my file with today's date. I told him I spoke to an advisor who said I could only get a £7 deal but he said he has checked my details on record and there is no expiry date on the 23p deal. Maybe you are right but seeing that Talkmobile is a Vodafone owned company I would envision problems somewhere, possibly with claiming cashback with the cashback being setup under the original number which mobiles.co.uk may only pay out under or then use some clause to prevent doing so for not following THEIR procedures of number portability when purchasing. After all their application process does state do it now and not later. I am out on this for now until maybe someone comes back with more info.

Yeah they always try that tactic if you request a PAC code prior the end of your tenure. Even though they bill your line rental in advance. Last time they tried it with me I complained until they waived it on a point of principle. What should normally happen is that in your final bill anything that has been paid for your pac code and advance echarges should be credited back so that you only pay till the end of the minimum term or the port out date - whichever is the longest.

There is no way at all to establish if the information given by T-Mobile is correct. Accept that. Yes that is poor, but that is the fact. Therefore you have two choices -

a. Cancel the sim, and pay for an alternative elsewhere or pay for the £5.22 retention deal with T-Mobile; or
b. Wait and see if the discount continues

Only b. will tell you the truth, and is likely to cost you £6ish to find out.

So you've gotta ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya?

I didn't manage to get one of these SIMs as I failed the credit check, but my mum managed to get one. She has agreed to keep it for an extra month at the end of the contract to see if the discount carries on. (I upgraded her to the £11 tariff as she went over her allowances once, so she has been paying £3 ever since.) If it doesn't carry on, I'm just going to give them 30 days notice, ask them for a PAC and switch her over to Three's 321 tariff. I mean, it's only £11 at the end of the day if the discount doesn't continue.

Not worth arguing or negotiating with them over the phone to be honest. Although I find EE to be the best network in south Wales, their customer service is very, very inconsistent. In my opinion O2 has the best customer service out of all the networks, but I'd never go back to them as their 3G network here is, ahem, bloody terrible.

Looks so, however i upgraded my plan to the next one up, so going from the £8 (free) to the £11 (£3). i got my upgrade (coming upto a month now) and i still got the discount on my account and still paying the same (£3) as i was before, however i looked onto my account the other day as it says i can get an early upgrade in the next 6 months or still wait for a whole year...
my discount has remained on the account however everyone here is saying they have spoken to the upgrades department, i had talked to them 3 times on the last time the british customer service referred me to the loyalty department in s.africa.
this is where i stuck strong for them to continue to give me this discount and then next minute she offered me the same thing. however i had to pay as fee of £7 or something. still works out cheaper!! (7+(3.22*12)= around 46 for the whole year!)

I skim read a few pages and found that getting through seems like a pain but when you do get through you either get a £3 discount (£5) or be told to pay full price £8, does this sound right?
martyj999
22 Oct 14 #1499
But the best deal you're going to get is only £3 cheaper, so 2 months is £6 extra if the discount ends, and there is no way you're getting back on the deal if you've left - worth the risk for potentially a lifetime of free (£0.22/month-ish) mobile contract
prk
22 Oct 14 #1498
But you will get your first bill after finishing first month.. so approxmetley 35 days and you have to give 30 days notice... So effectively you have to pay atleast 2 months. :disappointed:
abulkasam
22 Oct 14 #1497
I guess we will find out in a month's time whether the cost is £8 minimum or £0.22 minimum. It's worth £8 to find out. And if it is £8, then you can look elsewhere. It's not the end of the world

I just called to cancel my contract and the guy in retentions said what's the point. You're not paying anything, and the discount is permanent and will stay on until you upgrade or cancel. So there's no point in cancelling.

This is misleading. I too see no end date for the discount, but when I called them they told me that the discount was indeed going to end in 1 month.

When I log-in onto the website I get 'recurring cost' for my loyalty discounts. Whenever you get the chance, can you also do the same please, via this link:

And click on Your current services

Also, if you notice anything else which might be odd or explain an indefinite discount, can you also tell me, then I can check my account too. I basically want to see whether everyone's account is set-up the same, otherwise that would explain things. Thanks.

Been on the phone 55 minutes. Sucks having to do this on a workday, hate having to call during their peak hours.

Edit: Been on the phone 1hr 40 minutes, still not answered..it's now 8pm so their office hours are over...
So I've wasted my evening, and I will have to pay extra for my notice period being over the 30 days remaining..

I can't wait to leave EE, worst network ever.

Edit 2:

Saw on their site that they're open til 10pm if you pay 50p, so stayed on hold a bit longer...
Have been on hold over 2 1/2 hours and now the music has suddenly stopped, and the call is still ongoing..

What is the date that the free boosters started for you? and end date?
Mine shows up as started on March 2014 with no end date,

So potentially it might carry on? I can easily wait a month to see if it is £8 the following month. I think it says March 2014 because I had to call up or something, not exactly sure. As for how much it has cost me, about 4 months at £0.01. About 5 months at under £3. And 2 months at £15 and one at £20+! So basically worked out to around £8 per month!

I highly doubt it, sorry!! I've been with T-Mobile for 15 years (including the last "Free" year) and so far, 80% of the time I've gone over my allowances. I am so far, still unable to squeeze the £5.22 offer out of anybody I speak to!! :disappointed:

From what I've seen of the comments made on here over the last few days, whether you get the "Free for life" extension is entirely dependent on whether your discounts have expiration dates... If they don't... congratulations!! If they do... fight for the £5.22 offer because that's the best you're going to get!!

Hardly fair in my opinion so I'm waiting for another couple of days to see who else gets their "Free for life" confirmation before I ring up, rant, rave and loose my voice, before ultimately cancelling my 2 sims! X)

Just phoned about this (special thanks to the reminder I set a year ago on my phone!) - and after a long wait they said the loyalty bonuses that make it free are set to never expire, and that it will stay free when it rolls over.

That said with charges and random fees I've been charged at least £5-£10 every month since I've had it...

Sigh.

Basically just said I'm 100% cancelling unless they can match TalkTalk's £3.75 a month offer, he said £5 is the lowest they can go, so I had my PAC codes and that was that :P No point me trying to swindle them down even more as I've had 2 years in a row taking advantage of the T-Mobile mispriced contracts lol

To be honest that seems the best option. Either -

a. It just carries on at the current rate; or
b. I pay the full amount for a month and either haggle for the £5.22 deal or give notice.

If it does turn out to be the second option, not the first it is not a big financial cost. If it turns out that it would have been the first option, but now it isn't because I changed to the £5.22 option or cancelling, then I would be kicking myself.

As for whether it will roll on or not, personally I would not trust a T-Mobile call centre operator to tell me which way was up, so I certainly wouldn't trust them on something like this.

just to mention as 1 or 2 others have mentioned yes Tmobile, EE, Ornage can be difficult to deal with when trying to cancel any contract, I've had problems myself when in a similar postition before (funny enough on another free sim offer)

anyway for clarity here are the conditions as per there own web site

Case 3: I’ve come to the end of my minimum term and I would like to change providers.

If bought in a retail store, over the phone or on ee.co.uk:

You’ll need to give us 30 days notice by calling us. No early cancellation charge will apply.
Resolve your issue

If you have a query or a complaint, don’t hesitate to call us on the numbers listed below. Our customer service advisors will do their best to resolve your issue. .

If you would like to cancel a mobile phone or mobile broadband plan, call us on:

150 from your T-Mobile phone or,
08454125000 or 07953966150 from any other phone

so it looks like if you need/want to cancel your free sim offer, to avoid any charges etc, you need to call 30 days before the last date of your contract

In my experience, T-mobile / EE are the worst company to deal with in the UK (and I used to work for TalkTalk) as they handle nothing effieciently, lie to and cheat customers. The network itself is also pretty poor - despite their amazing claim that they have the UK's best network. I moved to Three some months ago. Good quality network, free 4G and great customer service. CS might be in India but they're of good calibre and genuinely want to (and do) help.

hence why i said i can upload proof if required, as i made sure the rep i spoke to emailed me exactly the deals i have, also mentioning the £8 discount, however looking online i can take an early upgrade by 23/03/15 and upgrade date of 09/08/15... also got a text shortly after taking the deal confirming my tariff and payment and the discount.
i had made sure i got back up, incase they try charging me extra... they gave me this deal as when i even bought this deal last year, i bought it over the phone where i got the rep there to make a not of the duration, when i spoke to the loyalty department i asked them to read out the notes on the account out loud to me, inwhich one of the notes said something about not having an expiry for the discount on my account....
try calling after 12 as thats when i done it, had called them twice before they redirected me to the loyalty department as the upgrade rep kept saying they wont do anything, at which when i raised it with the loyalty team to check the notes there was no expiry. this point she told me i can get a phone contact however i have to stick to a sim if i want to keep my discount... which i did and got offered the same. just had to pay a small fee which i didnt complain about as i wanted this deal and was willing to pay the fee-still works out dead cheap

Please accept my unreserved apologies. I am shocked t-mobile have allowed such a large discount... Congratulations!! I appreciate your screenshot says you are on the £8/month tariff, so how on earth have you managed to get t-mobile to agree to £11/month discounts?? Personally, i'm no good at maths but even i know that doesn't add up!! May i also suggest you double check the expiry dates on the 2 x £4 discounts, as i've mentioned previously, it is possible that these will expire on the date of your now old contract end date.

Once again, apologies for the previous troll comment.

Why are you calling me a troll? I've just logged into my tmobile account, where it used to say early renewal date 04/10/14, it now says 04/10/15!

The exact same price plan, the only difference is there are more boosters added with £11 worth of discount in total.

Boosters I had previously were 2 x £4 "Discount Free".
Now I have 2 x £4 "Discount Free", £2.50 Discount Free, £0.50 Loyalty Free.

Here's some pics you troll

I used the online chat today and also got offered the £5.22 tariff.

However they have a £15.99 deal on EE, reduced by £3 (existing customer discount) to £12.99, and you get 2GB data, 4G, and unlimited texts and calls. That seems a good deal to me so I might go for that. Oh, that's on a 12 month contract.

I would honestly take what the agent said with a pinch of salt, in fact, if I were you I would accept the £5.22 offer. As has been mentioned a few times in the past, and repeated by me in my earlier post, all our £8/mnth "special offer" discounts have an expiry date equal to our contract date. After the contract end date, the contracts turn into a rolling 30 day contract with the price plan reverting to it's original price.

IMHO take the £5.22 offer, which lets be realistic, is a very reasonable offer... Especially considering some of us (me!) have been offered nothing but original tariff price (£8.22) as renewal offer. As I've said before, expect t-mobile to deny all knowledge of your phone call with the agent!

Hey guys. Here's my upgrade story-

Went in-store initially to ask what will my price be from renewal, told something like 9.99.

Decided to give the retentions team a try so phoned retentions a few days later, was told best deal would be £5.22 a month << Accepted that.

Sat at home bored and wanted a deal for the day so just decided to call them now (renewal day is tomorrow), took about 20 mins for someone to answer, told them I wasn't happy with the price I was quoted for upgrade, she put me on hold, said it was the best price they could offer. So i ASKED what if I left it as it was (1p per month) she said it would stay at that price. So I asked her to confirm this which she did, and said unless I upgrade then discount stays on the account.

I got her Agent ID and told her If I am charged a penny over 1p, then I will be quoting her words.

Worst comes to worse, they will have to reimburse every penny they charge over 1p.

Thanks for all your advice, still not getting anywhere with T-mobile upgrade team, retentions team nor cancellations/escalations for that matter. I get the distinct impression that after 8 years of loyalty, they no longer want my business!!

Interestingly, last night I did manage to get to speak to a manager in the escalations team, (and no, before anybody asks, I will not mention their name!) who told me that no one had and no one will get their contracts extended for another 12 months inclusive of the "Special Offer" £8 discount, as any discount offered is first "authorised" by him and his team. Now, Kilo12kc, obviously I am not calling you a liar but I would strongly advise you to double check your online T-Mobile account to ensure that your contract has indeed been extended for 12 months and that your £8/monthly discount has been "re-applied" to the account for 12 months - Please remember the original discount would expire on your original contract end date and to re-apply this discount would require the original discount to be removed from your account and a new £8 discount to be applied, something which the system would not allow without first being authorised by the escalations team. All I'm saying is, double check, and if you are in any doubt, don't just wait for your 1st months bill to arrive then to be told you can't cancel the contract should you loose the fight - fight for it now!!

Suekimche - my strong advice would be to take as many notes as possible from your phone call to renew your 3 contracts at, as you previously stated, the pre-agreed price!! My guess is that they will claim to have no record of your original phone call. If on the other hand, you do manage to get all three renewed with no problems, please advise the thread on which team you dealt with and a specific person if at all possible. This will help me and the rest of us trying to renew the contracts for 12 months - my hope is that together, we will all get our contracts renewed if enough pressure is put on T-mobile!! Let's be honest, they were desperate to have our custom in the first p
