The terms and conditions state that they can change the price if the contract. You will get it free for the first month and they will bump if up to £8 for the following 11 months. You need to stay in the contract for 12 months. It's a marketing ploy by them!

"Each mobile internet option gives you a data allowance to use each month. We'll let you know by text message when your data is running low (80% of your allowance is used up) and when it has run out. You cannot use mobile internet on your phone to make internet phone calls ('VoiP'), to use your phone as a modem ('tethering') or for peer to peer file sharing. Please see the network management policies on our website for more information. We won't charge you any more if you reach your monthly data allowance, but if you exceed your data allowance, you will be charged £1 a day until your next monthly bill for each day you use data. Customers on £8 a month, £11 a month plans or £16 a month (12 month plan) or £10 a month, £13 a month plans or £18 a month (30 day plan) will have their service restricted if they use an additional 1GB over their inclusive data allowance."

I don't think this is a mistake. I got the last offer 2 years ago when they did this and I'm still on T-Mobile now. Its a good way to get new customers and I bet they know that a certain percentage of the new customers will stay with them, or give the contract to a family member, which is what I will be doing with my son for xmas. Also I wonder what it actually cost T-Mobile for this contract, not a lot I bet.
matthewpod

I wonder, why you do same mistake every couple years in same month? T-Mobile ?
daylesalmon
18 Nov 13 #68
What's stopping T-Mobile from upping there contract to £8pcm after the first month. Just because they've sent an email doesn't mean they will keep there word? And that Offcom report doesn't go into effect until next year (3 months from the day the report was posted).

So with no "protection" as it were, I cancelled my order as they could just put the prices up after the first month and as the contract was made before the release of the Offcom Regulations then they will be able to carry the contract out until it's finished.

No problem at all.

If I've managed to save at least one person money from dialling expensive 08 numbers using other means, be it a landline or another mobile operator, then I'm happy.

T-Mobile are, like I said, inconsistent in their pricing structure on their website, and people should really pay attention to the official PDF brochures to clarify what's actually inclusive/exclusive.

It is indeed bizarre that they would include 08 numbers and exclude voicemail as part of this SIM Only contract, but that's EE for you. Crazy, crazy, crazy.

The £8 discount is for 1 month only then you start paying £8 for 12 months.
TomChicaBomb
18 Nov 13 #127
DONT FALL INTO THEIR TRAP!! The contract price can be changed at any time by them. After the first month you'll be charged £8. If you still want this deal i'd recommend choosing giffgaff instead, £10 a month for unlim. texts, 500 mins and 1GB data, with no long contract, just month by month.

THE BIG PHONE COMPANIES ARE RUBBISH!

Agreed. I wish T-Mobile included voicemail as part of their allowances too. I think Virgin Mobile still do it, they are the only major network provider to do that; I may be wrong though.

I usually use WeQ4U or SayNoTo0870, but for some numbers like for PlayStation Support, there isn't any other alternative whatsoever. WeQ4U says it can put me through to PlayStation Support for free, but it puts you through to the the wrong department instead - it did the last time I tried it anyway (earlier this year). So if this SIM card does allow me to call 0844/0871 numbers etc, than preecey you're a star mate.

So I haven't had the second email the live chat says about.... Lets see. I'd rather them not honor it than start quoting offcom and stuff at them! Judging from what people have posted I'm pretty sure we could get out of it if they start demanding £8pm but if they do that I'd rather them just cancel my order!!
fingers crossed!

So, as an experiment i left an order at checkout to see if I got the encouragement email from T-Mobile to complete the checkout... and I did - asking me if i'd like to complete my order that I still have in my basket HA HA that's how keen they are to honour the 'price glitch' - it's a clever marketing scam as they will defo gain a lot of new customers and quite a few will exceed the minutes/texts/data inclusive usage or will continue after the free 12 months, so T-Moble will always be quids in

It quite clearly states

SIM cost - FREE
Monthly cost - £0.00 a month for 12 months

and because they're honouring the offer by sending you the sim/s out to you then they can't possibly charge you anything. even if they say that the first month is free and the rest aren't. they're not telling anyone that.

as far as anyone knows it's a special offer where it should be £8 per month, but they're giving them away for £0.00 month for 12 months.

It's a classic bait and switch, I bet the majority of people will use it for a year and then accept any price hikes, and T-mobile get a whole raft of extra customers. Still, very hot deal for the next year and just make sure to "reappraise" it in a years time.

The SIM will work in any smartphone; as long as it's unlocked, or was previously used on an EE-based network like Orange or Virgin Mobile.

If you have ordered a Combi SIM, it will fit both standard SIM and micro SIM slots.

If you have ordered a Nano SIM, it will only fit the iPhone 5, 5C and 5S.

Quick question here.
I'm at the end of my tmobile contract and would like to use this free plan but keep my number. I know I will have to get my PAC code and port to another network to do this. I'm in no rush really, but would one of the free payg sims from online work. And would I need to top it up before getting my PAC code from them to then come back to tmobile.

If you gave them DD details, call your bank and do a Direct Debit indemnity claim. I've had to do one twice this year with VirginMedia 'cause they charged me for installation in the first payment (when it was supposed to be free), and then they increasedthe monthly rate without telling me, causing the account my bills go out of to go into unplanned OD. I'm with Halifax, and on both occasions they had the money back into my account (at no cost to me) within two hours of me calling them. (I also informed Virgin I was doing the claim each time due to them taking the wrong amount, so that probably helped with no extra charges from VM either).

TCB didn't track for me, but the £8 a month plan is there if you put in a cashback tracking claim. I felt well scabby putting in that I spent £0 and expected £20 casback oO

No... thats £2.4 million at retail cost. Chances are only 0.01% of people that signed up for this deal would actually be willing to pay for this deal at full price.

This deal will cost them pence per month. For those pence, they now have a database of who we call, when, browsing patterns; all kinds of data they can share or sell on. They probably couldn't 'recruit' customers in a cheaper way!

Check the thread out. They can't do it in excess of inflationate costs they incurr mid contract (and contract starts when they accept your order and send the SIM).

£0 to £8 is pretty big. Infinitely unquantifiable.

18 Nov 13 #285
Technically speaking, if there is a significant change in your contract (price change, it ending) they have to notify you...so you should see it on a bill/get an e-mail in 11 months time (think it's in the the Credit Consumer Act). Applied it to Tesco when they 'forgot' to tell me when I was stoozing and 'had to pay' £50 in interest...soon got changed to the 'right' amount of £4.63...

If you have a Carphonewarehouse near you go speak to someone in there as 90% of payg mobiles came unlocked to any network even if they were sold as for example a vodafone branded phone (not sure what this is like now as my friend o longer works there)
. Or you can just buy a phone on Tmobile and use the sim from this deal or just get a phone unlocked, most phone shops will do that

I know the brochure says that, but I still don't believe it to be honest. Even landline providers like Sky, BT etc, charge for 0844, 0871 numbers etc, there's no reason why T-Mobile would offer it for free; or as part of your allowance anyway.

Even Sky's (Sky Talk Anytime UK) call package for £5 a month, only includes 0845 and 0870 numbers, any other premium 08 number is charged for. I'm sorry it just doesn't add up, if landline providers don't offer it at all (for all 08 numbers), then why would mobile phone operators?

I'm not having a go at you personally by the way, I'm just confused.

If you scroll down it says pricing may change during the plan, so also take a screenshot of the terms and conditions; the terms state that the price of the order, once accepted, is the price that we pay. Since the price of the order is £0.00 for 12 months and not £0.00 for just one or two months, it should be free for the year. Keep a copy of the email too. I don't think they're allowed to go against the terms, but what do I know? I'm no lawyer!

T-Mobile have 2 choices... to honor the price error for the full contract term OR to decline the placed order. If they choose to only offer at £0.00 for 1 month they have to put that in writing BEFORE the contact commences to give the customer the option. T-Mobile have done these so called pricing errors several times in recent years, it's nothing new, just depends on how far you push consumer rights

Steamy.Wee

freebiehunter
18 Nov 13 #402
The same (or very similar) has happened before... T Mob will either let it run for the 12 months at £0.00 to hopefully gain paying customers from month 13 onwards, or they will send you a nice email saying how they made an error in the pricing but would like to offer you 1 month free and then £8 per month after that, or a discounted plan. At that point you have a good moan and complain and tell them your rights but probably end up cancelling. Go for it though, you know you want to ;)]
freebiehunter
18 Nov 13 #403
Possibly not in my opinion, as the actual price plan is £8 per month so after 12 months they have the right to put it to £8 per month so you would be paing the 50p just to guarantee that it doesn't go above £8
preecey
18 Nov 13 #404
Just ordered one for my mum.

I don't believe, however, that this is a glitch. As others have said, it may be a clever marketing tactic to bump up their subscriber numbers. Remember, this SIM bizarrely includes calls to 08 numbers and not calls to voicemail, so at 40p a minute they could be making a good profit out of people who fail to turn their voicemail off.

I have expected only £20.20 amount which was showing earlier today but it tracked at £25.25 for some reason
Now both Quidco and TCB do not show any cashback for the £8 tariff. I smell this was planned in advance by T-mobile... Schemers but who cares when I get free contract...

TCB have removed cash back for this now, i have contacted tmobile and they said they will honor it pending i pass the credit check. (credit check for a sim only pmsl) they also confirmed its FREE for the entire 12 months, and possibly free after that as it will switch to a 30 day rolling contract at the same price. The guy didn't know if it would switch to 30day rolling or not due to the mass amount of people abusing this.

Best thing to do, print screen the offer, if they try charge you anything you can leave as it clearly says £0.00 to pay now, £0.00 to pay monthly. Although in there terms and conditions they can increase the price at any time, might try con us all with that little trick.

For info - you can get 'free' voicemail by diverting your unanswered calls using hullomail.com instead of the standard tmobile service.

It uses your inclusive minutes to forward, then you can use data or wifi to listen to them without having to ring up

Just been told by chat bot that it's free for the first month only. Anyone ordering this and not expecting a fight next month may want to take a screen shot of where it states £0.00 for 12 months. Trading standards are going to love this! lol

Just a thought.

They say its a pricing error so why is it still active and not been took down?????? Still up still!!!

The old motto if it sounds too good........

Sounds like different agents saying different things. they'll find a way - they will increase the sim price after a month or so as its in their contract they have a right to do so.

By the way i took out an additional line with them last month and cancelled as soon as i received the sim but they they still billed me for one month and then refunded the money back into my t-mobile account. I must say it was hassle as i had explain to them that i did not activate sim - but they sim arrives activated . I argued saying its still packed up and that under distant selling regulations i have 14 days to cancel and they cancelled. I cant believe I ordered another two as freebies because if they charge me i will be fuming !

Hey Guys.. Did you notice How they describe title of email? Capital letters "FREE £8 SIM ONLY PLAN"
It's seem like They did this on purpose, as well Quidco and TCB despaired after short time.
How is it possible that They know about the Error and They coldn't fix it immediately?
Anyway I'm happy with my free sim for 12 months and T-mobile just waiting for the News in Newspapers .

If you have a query of this nature please contact customer services on 0845 412 5000 or 150 from a T-Mobile handset.

Taz: Good afternoon Stephen.
Steven: Hi Taz.
Steven: Good afternoon.
Taz: I am just looking for confimation really.
Taz: I was looking for cheap contracts and came across your website. It has 250mins, 500texts, 500mb coming up as £0.00 per month for the duration of the 12 month contract. Is this correct?
Steven: We have been informed that this is a pricing error, but that we will be honouring any orders placed until the issue has been corrected
Steven: If you place an order for this product you will receive our standard order confirmation email, along with a separate email confirming that your order has been received and that we will be honouring the pricing
Taz: And this is guaranteed not to have any price increases for the complete 12 month period and I am free to cancel or re-evaluate after the 12 months is up?
Steven: Yes, you can do that by giving a 30 days notice to our customer service.
Taz: I guess by the speed of your first response about the error that this is not the first time you have been asked this today then. It is very good for T-Mobile to be honouring this.
Steven: Yes, Taz.
Taz: Thank you very much Steven, I will confirm my online order. Have a good day.

I understand why you're being a bit sceptical.

The truth is, I've been a Pay Monthly T-Mobile (phone) contract customer since June last year. I have never paid for 08 numbers, even the more-expensive 0844 and 0871 prefixes - despite the nonsensical blurb on the website saying otherwise. Once I checked the PDF tariff brochures, it actually said all 08 numbers were inclusive as part of my allowance. After trialling one call on my first month of the contract, I was ecstatic at the discovery that they are in fact inclusive.

T-Mobile have since removed 08 numbers from allowances as of 30/10/2013 on their (new) phone contracts, but SIM Only tariffs, according to their PDF brochures, still seem to have them included.

I agree it is bizarre for them to include the more expensive 0871 as part of the plan, but at the end of the day, T-Mobile and their parent EE are crazy. Take this deal, for example.

Screenshots proving that I've never paid for an 08 call (from my T-Mobile phone contract SIM, not SIM Only):

You can cancel immediately as the contract states £0.00 per month for 12 month, so therefore if they charge you £8 in month 2 it's a breach of the terms
n64play
18 Nov 13 #529
unbelievably this is still going! though if it's a glitch they're happy to keep online, from a network point of view:
they get a LOT of free customers (i.e. there's no leg work involved in getting new sign ups)
It costs them at most, 50p to give you a sim and send it to you
You get a fairly small allowance by most standards (i'm not knocking, but the mins/texts are fairly small for a contract)
So they're probably hoping you'll go over your allowance, and charge you, or you stay on after the 12 months with a "save deal".

Win/win both way!

I'm confused why it specifies specific minutes/texts/data as if they're all-in on the deal, but when you go into the details it says..

+1. They can only raise prices at the rate of inflation. Anything higher and you are in your rights to cancel.

Recently switched to Ovivo, but the data signal is awful anywhere remotely rural so will switch back to T-Mobile. Just a damn pain I recently paid £18 to unlock my phone and £20 for the Ovivo sim!!

Both Quidco and TCB pulled this off their websites...
Cozworth806
18 Nov 13 #547
Almost jumped on this, but I had T-mobile before and I reckon its highly likely that some/most/all will start to be charged the £8pm after the first month and then you will have the headache of trying to get them to refund or credit your accounts.

The £5pm data only sim I had was a nightmare for that and cancelled after three months due to the hassle.

I got the free £10 a month SIMO deal a couple of years ago. It was honoured and I was happy so they kept a customer.
I won't be getting another (even though I thought about it) as it'd be sitting in some device unused.

Good deal, but the T-Mobile/EE websites are pretty awful! I registered when I signed up for the first sim...but now when I try to login on T-Mobile, it redirects me to the EE website (where my details aren't recognised).
I have no idea why they can't just merge all three websites into one.

But the SIM will still be in your name.
The other party cancels the Direct Debit after receiving the SIM, and you get threatening letters from debt collection agencies, and an affected credit rating.

It wont really cost T-Mobile anything - they have just gained thousands of new customers, many will go over the allowance so the network will benefit there, some will stay after the 12 months and will then pay monthly, some will upgrade and add bolt ons etc durint the initial 12 months, it was an intentional ploy by T-Mobile just the same as they did this time last year and the year before

I ordered a couple on OH name and couple on mine. Will use for the kiddies and one for my mum.
However this evening my OH got an email to say to call them. They refused to honor the sim as credit rating low!
Then my OH asked how that can be possible as we both have 2 contracts with them for years. That's when she said 'oh sorry must be a mistake' and we got a confirmation email straightaway saying the sims will be posted.

I think they may be trying this with a few without checking.

18 Nov 13 #623
Reasons why this is planned and not a glitch:
1. Instant increase of customer base by hundreds of thousands. Looks great for the quarterly statements to shareholders.
2. The amount offered is negligible to their network infrastructure. 500MB data and 250 mins text, they wont even feel it.
3. There is a good chance you will spend money calling voicemail, customer services, spending data or using minutes outside of your allowance.
4. After 12 months you will forget to cancel and remain a customer, or you actually like your experience and switch over to them directly.
This is quite simply a win-win mostly for them and we obviously don't mind any freebie on HUKD!

well done all who got it,

I got it 2/3 years ago when similar happened (ultd data, 300 mins, 300 texts) £10 per month for free AND £50 quidco !!!
took a battle but got it, a year later discount ended and i was offered £5 a month which i took. however they only gave £2.50 a month discount. I called and spoke and was told would be corrected, they instead added on another £5 a month discount- so i pay £2.50ish a month now for past 2 years.... needles to say i dont bother getting rid or upgrading but use it as a 2nd line and have no landline
for the voicemail, you can dial your own number from another mobile phone, get your voicemail message and press *, then your pin code and can access your messages that way free of charge

They are the same thing.

If you buy the phone with an O2 SIM, it will come with that O2 SIM and £10 of credit.

It will still be unlocked, regardless of the network you choose. There is no point in buying it SIM-free for £115, you will lose money and it will be exactly the same, unlocked phone.

Regarding 30 days notice, would that therefore be near the end of month 11 you would call them up to give your 30 day notice ensuring 30th day falls on the last day of your 12 months. Something like that.
Assuming sim arrives in 7 days and activated in 7 days.
Start date: 26th November 2013.
12 month contract End date: 25th November 2014.
Minus 30 days= 26th October 2014 (be careful October has 31 days) is the day to call them up to ensure you don't pay for Month 13.

It's just a standard 30 days, not a calendar month. Therefore cancel 30 days before the last of the free period billing / contract date in November 2014, you can then opt to cancel the contract, change to PAYG or request your PAC to go elsewhere

It depends on individual circumstances. While you may have an excellent record of paying things off on time, you may not have a record of having true credit, i.e. something which is actually reflected/recorded on your credit file. Mobile phone contracts, mortgages, loans, credit cards and bank accounts are all recorded on your credit file. Having a lack of these, linked to your own file, will affect your ability to obtain credit. In addition, not being recorded on the electoral register at your home address will also affect your ability to obtain credit.

I shall attempt to argue it out with them and also write to their credit referral dept in Ashford , if it comes to it I don't see any reason not to lodge £100 with them so long as it is refundable , it isn't as if I am getting any interest on my savings

I've had a lot of problems with them over this, just over the £2 verification thing.
They said they can't take it, have attempted 4 times.
Called Barclays who told me they've taken it 4 times.
Called back, Woman didn't believe me and told me they are lying and to call them.
Called Barclays again, got times and references of payments taken out.
Called T-mobile, woman asked which Bank I am with so she never uses them, and says it's rubbish. Keeps cutting me off when i try and explain what has happened. Then told me she was going to try once more before she cancels the order, I had no say in the matter.

All four members of staff have been very rude to me, all blaming Barclays without having any other checks to go through or trying to help me, just "it didn't work, call your bank". Not very happy with them so far, if it weren't for 12 months free I wouldn't be continuing this, certainly won't continue after the 12 months but I hope the cancellation isn't just as painful!

Just had an email from T-Mobile asking to ring them for further information. Rang them up and they're claiming my credit score is too low which is utter BS. Always pay everything on time and have a Tesco Mobile contract currently.

This is their way of getting out of it - they're not honouring it at all. Woman said I could conveniently go on Sim Only 6 - didn't even ask what it was - told her to cancel the order and hung up.

Good luck trying to get them to 'honour' the deal.

i think the £2 debit takes 3 days to appear in your bank account but the credit appears straightaway hence the confusion.

t-mobile was supposed to take 1p off my debit card and refund me the 1p in cash (most of the time they don't give the 1p back!). anyhow, even though i saw 1p on their card machine and got a receipt for 1p paid, they actually took £3 from my card. when i asked natwest to retrieve the money and showed them the receipt for 1p i was told that they can't retrieve debit card monies and that the seller could debit any amount they like irrespective of what you saw on their card machine when you entered your pin and the receipt they gave you.

i was about to go to t-mobile store to query this the next day when i saw that they refunded me the £3. lesson there for paying with debit card, the seller could withdraw more than what you had signed for and the bank won't be able to retrieve the money.

It's a yearly t-mobile scam, they gain lots of publicity, make out it's a pricing error but will honour the deal and then they randomly email people saying the credit scores are low or failed, some won't even get the final confirmation emails and don't get the sim - just so they keep the actual amount of 'price glitch' contracts to a set amount. You could try a free trial report at creditexperts.co.uk and then challenge T-Mobile with it, but probably not worth the hassle

Could I ask a stupid question...
I already have a T Mobile contract. I got a text from them today saying my additional line has been activated. Does that mean I could have two numbers on my existing sim card (ie I wouldn't have to swap them over)?
Never had two lines so no idea how it works...
Thanks :-)

19 Nov 13 #707
Ah ok well perhaps your credit check was legit then lol. As it's a contract sim there would be payments if you exceed the monthly allowance hence the credit check - they need to know if you spend hundreds a month that you can pay for it haha. But I do remember a lot of fuss the previous 2 years when T-Mob did a price glitch and a lot of folks were unfairly not honoured due to some strange credit checks that should not have failed
HankHandsome
19 Nov 13 #708
Well the problem i was going to have with what to do with the second sim i've ordered has now been solved - i'm not getting one

Didn't get a request for a security deposit like a lot of other people, but the email said i'd need to pay 3 bills before i could be considered for a second line. considering all of these bills will be free, it shouldn't be an issue !

I'm not fussed though, apart from the fact that Quidco will probably be declined, i was more concerned in getting the 1st one i ordered and i've had the email to say that's definitely on it's way!

19 Nov 13 #709
They do send multiple warning texts before you meet or exceed your limit. Also, when you do meet the limit, the £1 a day isn't automatically chargeable - you'll be redirected to the T-Zones portal asking you to confirm that you want to purchase the daily internet booster.
YouMuppet

BrianM
19 Nov 13 #711
No - they do not support multiple numbers on one SIM card! No one does nay longer AFAIK (too many restrictions!)

What they (must) mean is that you have two contracts with them and thus and extra line. You should be able to add the extra number (account) to "My T-mobile" to monitor them from one place.

it was the SIMO £8 contract for £25 cashback.

19 Nov 13 #727
It will be declined because T-mobile have to approve it with TCB for it to be approved and as was clearly an intended 'price glich' they won't pay out any cashback, there's hardly an argument for cashback when you've got £96.00 contract sim for free
mutley1
19 Nov 13 #728
it comes pre-activated and your 12 months contract starts from the day you ordered, not the day of delivery. t-mobile is a bit cheeky and can take up to a week for your sim to arrive but they charge you the monthly fee from date of order and then send out the sim royal mail 2nd class a day or two later.

as this is free i am not bothered but i was charged for a monthly sim that took 2 weeks to arrive and t-mobile would not refund me the 2 weeks that i had no service!
deadleg21
19 Nov 13 #729
I thought online revenue worked like - £25 for each member you have sign up for the £8per month contract through your affiliate link.
If there is an offer on the website that shouldn't affect affiliate revenue unless e.g. use of unauthorised voucher code?
Yeah its no big deal as still a good deal, and a good offer from t-mobile to honour the mistake
But i wouldn't not put in a claim just because its a £8 contract with -£8 promotion :P

Edit: also looks like on claims TCB lost their 'eclusive deal'. £25 gone down to £20,.
Gooner77
19 Nov 13 #730
Do T-Mobile do this thing where they have a setting on your account so that you can't exceed your call/text/data balance.

I have this set on my Three contract, so no nasty surprises. I haven't exceeded any balances yet but apparently if I reach my call limit I cant make any calls till my next allowance update.
neneromanovagirl
19 Nov 13 #731
Well apparently I've failed the credit check. What a load of rubbish. My credit score is good and the bloody contract is free anyway! Ah well. They said I can write and appeal but I can't be bothered.
mutley1
19 Nov 13 #732
not as far as i am aware. you can't exceed data as they ask you to buy more credit so that is the safety on data but as far as i am aware no cap can be put on calls or texts. you can register with my t-mobile which gives you a live log of calls and texts used and how many minutes and texts you have left and whether you have made non-inclusive calls and their respective charge.

i log onto this every day when i am nearing my limit to make sure i have enough left.

19 Nov 13 #733
So i got the text about the additional lines, and logged into my t-mobile account to see the new numbers there, however when going into Plan details, it does show that it's an £8 SIM Only over a 12 month contract, at £6.67 exVAT per month. Is this normal, or does the discount show/apply afterwards?

sometimes it takes a few days for the discount to show on my t-mobile, sometimes not at all and you just have to rely on billing not to bill you or have to raise a query with them when you get your bill if they charge you.

which is why it is good to keep all paperwork as proof in case you have to write to their complaints department.

As its free I won't complain but seems that all networks charge from the day service applied for which is when it normally goes live. t-mobile customer service is so so. if you have a problem it can be very difficult to resolve. tesco mobile sends out the sim immediately the same day of order and they also send first class. t-mobile take their time to send out sims and tries to save on postage by sending second class which can take up to 5 days to arrive.

Then I got another email five minutes later for the order for 2 SIMs, and it was successful - welcome to T-Mobile, your SIMs are on the way.

I ordered three, but two were rejected and they asked for a £100 deposit for just the one - they say it's because of my credit status, and I've never even borrowed any money before!!!
freebiehunter
19 Nov 13 #757
That's the problem - often to pass a credit check you need a history of borrowing - eg mortgage, car loan etc, as that then creates your credit score. The T-Mobile credit check is very strict and I posted earlier on here that I remember a lot failing the credit check on the 'price glitch' last year and the year before
Gonz
20 Nov 13 #758
I'd have thought when you apply for the sims they do the credit check there and then. if it passes you get the order confirmation.
you get the email telling you that they will be honouring the free offer for the whole 12 months.

I wouldn't expect them to go all through that and then say you can't have them because you failed a credit check.

not unless they were wanting to not honour the orders they said they were going to honour.

You are correct, the retailer has the last say on the cashback, and in situations like this I'm pretty sure their T&C means that the cashback will be cancelled.

if you have a look back through a few posts i've mentioned that T-Mobile do a strict credit check - they did a similar price glitch last year and the year before and they randomly (it would seem) failed lots of people on credit checks even though they had good credit. My opinion is that because the 'price glitch' was clearly planned (even with a known 4pm cut off time) they thin out the amount of contracts that they have given away by usuing the excuse of a bad credit score

I agree with you and others who believe it was planned, for all the customer service reps to know about it so soon, and for an email honoring the price glitch seems to be a bit too convenient for a real price glitch.

The £2 is part of the credit check - when you sign up it states they will take £2 and then put it back. You don't need a T-Mobile number to have registered as it's no different than any other sim only purchase for new or existing customers
thesmellyone

Nope not got anything more either. They probably have a huge backlog to get through. So I'm not worried just sit tight and wait

why do people need to get more than one or two? your greed is possibly denying others a good deal here.[/quote]

I am already a t mobile pay monthly customer. I ordered 3 sims for my sister and my nieces (no its not been greedy) greedy was if i was just ordering them for the sake of it.

Me ordering three sims did not deny you or anyone else from receiving a sim. Its not one of those items that gets out of stock quickly. It was a planned or not error which we did not expect to be honoured.

Anyone that ordered 2 or more is not denying other this deal. The only ones denying this deal are t-mobile.

They are doing credit checks to make sure you pay them £0.00 each month. X)

When you apply for credit with a company, it will (with your consent) check your credit score through a credit reference agency.

These companies hold your credit report, which includes details of the electoral roll (a list of the names of all people registered at an address who are entitled to vote), County Court Judgments or CCJ's (a ruling for an unpaid debt issued by a County Court), bankruptcies etc etc.

Every application for credit leaves a ‘foot print' its what is called your credit history, even your partner who you live with can effect your credit check and history.

Credit rating is like a game. Easy points are Direct Debits! The worse you are at setting up Direct Debits, the lower from that A rating you get.

For some, just be thankful your credit rating isn’t diminished by spelling or grammar!

some companies who have bad customer service (and i am afraid t-mobile falls into this category) actually advise their staff to put the phone down on customers who continue to question and won't take the answer you give so that it stops the call becoming a full blown row and as the operator will not change his answer, there is no point in arguing with the customer!

i have had experience of this putting the phone down with capital one and santander as well. i have been with t-mobile for 10 years and it is because they are value for money for what i need but i try my best to avoid speaking to their customer service as they never listen and just state what they think and won't budge even though what they say is obviously wrong.

If I upgrade this £8/month contract to "SIM Only £11 - 12M" in a month or two later, will £8 discount still be applied after upgrade? I don't use more than 100 minis a month, but 500MB might be bit tight though manageable.

I see an internet booster in their website but I'm not sure it's applicable for Sim-only plans,
Extra internet upgrade £5 per month - If you already have a plan with Standard internet included you can choose the extra internet upgrade, text WEBM2L to 879. Your booster gives you 1.5.GB of internet each month.

In any case, I will give a ring to them once I get the sim, let's see if they would upgrade me to £11 plan with this £8/month discount.

The only way to get them to change their mind is to get a credit report and fax this with reasons why I should have the other sim. Does any one know where I can do this free of charge as I haven't got any credit issues? I know it would have been too good to be true to get all 3 free - but will try anyway.

Use Experian experian.co.uk for a free 14 day trial and just cancel as soon as you've signed up and got your credit report. This will be accurate enough for you to provide to T-Mobile. However I would be surprised if they let this override their credit checking system and they will probably suggest that you pay a 'deposit' upfront instead. It's all part of the extra tough random failed credit checks to reduce the amount of 'free' 'price glitch' sims that they send out

i have had a few discounts with t-mobile and they have always worked even though they don't always show on my t-mobile website with the exception of perhaps ending up paying 50p + 20% VAT which always seem to come through with the discount deals!

Any body else get this email?

How do you get a good payment history with a contract of £0? Is this a sly way for me to end up paying £100 for the contract?

Thanks for placing on order online for your new T-Mobile phone.

We’re happy to offer you this plan but because of your credit status we’ll need a £100 security deposit. The deposit will be refunded when your credit class increases and you've established a good payment history.

If you’d like us to go ahead with this order please give us a ring on 0800 9562208 option 1. Alternatively you can chat with an advisor now so we can complete your order today, just click on the link below. We have agents available between 8am to 8pm Monday – Friday or 8am to 8pm at weekends.

It's not illegal, just make sure you read this first.

There must be an easier way to record phone calls, I'm pretty sure there are smartphone apps which can do this. You should try and look for one, it's probably a lot more convenient; and the saved phone calls probably sound a lot more clear as a result.

Exactly the same with O2 in the Swansea area and its suburbs. Glad I switched to EE/T-Mobile. I now get HSDPA everywhere, despite the customer service being nowhere near as good as O2's.

It seems to me at least, that the GSM 900 MHz networks (O2 and Vodafone), have a terrible 3G network whereas the 1800 MHz networks (T-Mobile, Orange) have excellent 3G/HSDPA coverage and data speeds.

if you go to an EE/ tmobile store they charge bloody £10.21 for a nano sim/ sim swap. what kind of nonsense is that, the guy at the store said they need the money to put the swap through over on their system.

It takes no longer than 20 seconds to submit a new SSN, why charge £10 for that!
but the guy at store told me a trick (basically lie lol) he said call CS and tell them they sent the wrong sim out and you need a nano... so i did that and now they sending one for free.

Just got my sim through, set up my account, checked my plan and apparently my monthly cost is £6.67 excluding VAT.

My current bill, due to go out on the 6th December is £0.01. So we'll see how much the bill for next month is.

Although under "my current services" it has a £4 discount box. That still doesn't cover the £8 though!!

Edit: My allowance seems correct, 500 texts, 500mb data and 250 minutes.

Lostwebb This is common with contracts they often create ur first bill after a few days of the contract. They do so by taking ur allowance and dividing it by the no. Of days in the month then x it by the no. Of day I 1st bill. Its not a big deal ull still get 12 months.

Log into your My T-Mobile account online, and then find the 'Date you can next upgrade', that is the exact date you should phone up to cancel. That's what I aim to do anyway.

You can find that date by clicking on the following, after you have logged-in:

>My Plan (on the left-hand side)
>My Plan Details (it's one of the two tabs)
>Scroll down a bit until you get to the Date you can next upgrade part.

By the way, the reason I'm saying it is not the 18th October 2013, is because it's unlikely that is the day your contract officially started, it was probably a few days after (like mine was).

Hope this helps,
Transformers

Are all you people who are being billed a penny or whatever, what payment method did you use to sign up with?
direct debit or card?
there's a £3.50 charge if you don't pay by direct debit and chose card instead.
maybe they're charging you the 1p to be able to get the £3.50?

I only got one confirmation and honour email for 2 separate orders, but both sims still came! Only one of them is showing £4 discount on my tmobile, but both are £0.00 a month. Not complaining! One thing though, I click the checkbox that said about free bbm (incase I ever get a blackberry again for email) but I can't see anything about it on My T-Mobile, not even the £5.10 booster!

No personal experience, just remember reading about a case (cant recall the case citation) where a gentleman tried to take a cold call scamming company to court. He intended to sue after explaining to them he would be charging for his time when they cold called him. It all went to pot when the recorded phone call evidence was dismissed as he never made them aware he was recording. Poor chap.

I ordered two of these SIMs on the same day but only one came through on Saturday. T-Mobile credited me with two amounts of £2.00 on the 19th November and then withdrew the same 2 x £2.

Question is, where's my 2nd SIM card and has anyone else has the same happen? Results?

24 Nov 13 #1046
I'm not certain, but if your an existing customer your renewal date for your allowances will be the date your existing contract renews (mines the 9th oif the month).

I suspect that they give you unlimited data until that date so you dont complain - it would explain why the iphone app is showing my data as unlimited, the PC app says I should have 500MB and txting "AL" to 150 says I have 300.

So, my theory is ...

I have 500 mins on my contract
The %age of days until I renew means proportionally I should get 300Mb of that allowance until renewal date
But they set it as unlimited in case I go over ...

?

I'm checking my T-Mobile account for this new SIM and see that:

Your monthly plan charges
SIM Only £8 - 12M £6.67
Loyalty discount from your monthly line rental - £6.66
Monthly charge total £0.01

Given that £6.67+VAT = £8.00. Where is my full £8 discount as mentioned on my order?

Also, regarding 08 numbers are we or aren't we billed? And what is that mysterious £4 discount tickbox?

@whw my web site looks identical to yours.

Was just onthe phone to T-mobile.

Ok the upshot of it all is this: I will be charged a one off charge for the first bill of £8 and then every month after that it will be at no charge (if i don't exceed my allowences)

I was not happy about the £8 charge as there is no reference of it in any of the e-mails i got from T-mobile nor on their website when i was completing the order.

The nice lady that i spoke with said that she will credit my account with £8 so that it ensure I will not be charged for the first bill and then next 11 months will also be free.

It's a little confusing and i thing the T-mobile systems have yet to catch up with this particular offer. If you have any questions about your bill and the lack of discount i suggest you call them on 150 from your T-mobile number.

Yep, rang to cancel my existing contract as I'm into the last month now. I was told that my first bill would be a paper bill in a couple of weeks and it should show the discount.

Guy on the phone was really enthusiastic about it, and walked me through how to keep my old number (pac code to other provider then back to T-Mobile). He also reckoned it would be discounted for as long as I kept the contract, even after the 12 months, but we'll have to wait and see about that.

whw
25 Nov 13 #1071
Just got off the phone to T-Mobile and they acknowledge the discrepancy of 1p per month charge. They removed it completely so I don't have to pay anything for the whole year.

What's interesting is they called this plan a "trial" and after 12 months, it becomes £8 per month, or pay more to upgrade.

The £4 discount is apparently 2x £4 (odd that it shows only one) to reduce the £8 per month cost to £0.

08 numbers are included. It seems I misread the "information links" as part of the plan. Sorry folks.

£6.67 is the correct discount as this equates to a user discount of £8 including VAT! Where they have gone wrong is miscalculating the discount as £6.66 in some (most?) cases and leaving a balance of £0.01!
FraserGJ
29 Nov 13 #1125
Mine shows £6.67 charge and £6.67 discount meaning £0.00 total so obviously not all affected. I reckon they have put it through differently for some people because I don't have any "Loyalty Discount" showing in my plan features or anything as was shown in a screenshot further up the thread.

I phoned T-Mobile earlier today. The things I found out or clarified were as follows:

*Free for 12 months only, then will be charged the full £8 monthly unless I cancel and give 30 days notice.

*The CS rep went through My T-Mobile online account with me simultaneously (no idea how), but she said it's normal for no discount to appear in 'My Plan Details'. She said on the bill however, my discount would appear and that my total should say £0.00.

*I asked if I could have free voicemail, but she said voicemail is included as part of my allowance already, she even showed me a certain section of My T-Mobile online account which confirms this.

Hope this helps,

Your minutes and texts are from the UK to UK mobile networks, voicemail, 08 numbers and numbers beginning 01, 02 and 03 (excluding Jersey, Guernsey and Isle of Man).

Also I think you will find that turning the BAR on will PREVENT you getting these SMS updates!

Just spoke to a lovely lady on 150 and she said NO you WILL be charged for voicemail BUT....
She then said let me see if I can do something for you as a new customer... put me on hold for 1 min and then came back and said she can give me free calls to voicemail (not even taken from the 250 inclusive minutes). Result!
I asked if she could confirm this and that it was for the whole contract, she said she'll send a txt... here it is...

Sorry no, but when I called I didn't mention anything about this deal/contract, I simply just said "I'm a new customer and want to know if calling voicemail is charged or taken from my inclusive minutes?".
If you have no luck, I suggest you call back and hope the call centre lottery connects you to a good 'un

The problem is, I'm not a new customer. I have another paid for line with them currently, which is going to end next month. :disappointed:

As I said, just call them, you've got nothing to lose by trying.

But, as they have put the INCLUSIVE Voicemail into writing in the MyPlan write up about what has been agreed they cannot avoid honouring it!

In am exactly similar manner the T&CS for "SIM only" contracts say that 08 numbers ARE chargeable. The My T-Mobile write up says inclusive. People have experimented with this and inclusive seems to be true!

My sim has been despatched at last and I have received a text to say that it has been added to my t-mobile account online. Where exactly does it show the £6.66 / £6.67 discount that is to be applied?

I initially got a credit decline email. I ended up sending a written letter to the credit referrals department and I received a letter today, saying after review they would like to offer me the contract. Just have to call up to get the sim ordered. Hopefully the deal will still be honored as the order number appears the same.

For others who got declined it might be worth posting off a letter if you know you haven't had any major credit issues.

Using the T-Mobile voicemail didn't seem to incur any charges on my account.

However, I don't use that anymore. I use Libon. It's a service that T-Mobile forwards your voicemail to (it too didn't seem to incur any charges - an 07 number showed in my account as being dialled when using it).

I recommend Libon because it's free and provides visual voicemail; it also provides text transcripts of voicemails and allows you to personalise voicemail greetings. Libon shows in-app ads for free users. TRY IT OUT

For those having trouble with the t-mob app, I was logging in and it was coming up blank. I had to click on number and then again on my number so a tick appeared then it loads in your information.

My T-Mobile iPhone app says I have unlimited data. Is this to be taken with a pinch of salt? It's supposed to be 500mb allowance, as I recall. I need about 3gb, so I was going to upgrade to the £16 plan (so £8 nett), but if it's really unlimited then there's no need.
