Worth knowing!
Or do what I do- go in to the short stay, drop off your passengers then drive to the exit and tell them you've driven in to the wrong car park by mistake. Then floor it when they open the barrier for you.

Think most car parks you can drive in and out again,as drivers can go in by mistake, not sure how long they allow tho.Probably 5mins.
I did it by genuine mistake once, and I even went to the terminal before realising. The person was kind enough to let me out at the gate. They also mentioned 5 minute time - however the Heathrow short stay is often so congested you often can't make it to the exit within 5 minutes even if you try!

This wont play in Luton.
Unless you go through the closed barrier they will likely tow your car with yourself inside.
Thieving at Luton is not just absurd, its tasteless.

I’m surprised. I was about to say what a shame that nothing like that in Luton... slowly they charge for the air in that rip off airport. The state of the outdoor carpark road is like a warzone(mad)

Never paid for parking in Luton in my life. Free Mid term park drop off/pick up was always available and if one wants to hang around in the airport and wave goodbyes (which I don't) then Long term gives enough time ...

Only 15 mins in the Mid-Term - but good enough for drop off. I see there is now a sign that if you go past the traffic lights immediately after the Mid-Term they state you will be charged £3 minimum!
At least Dick Turpin wore a mask!

I used the long stay car park at Heathrow for my 2 free hours parking a few weeks back and about 10 mins by shuttle bus to airport.

In order to use this car park do you have to book it in advance?

Perfect if you have a flight with Monarch, 2 hours will be plenty.

Stansted airport charges 3.50 for a couple of seconds to let out a passenger and 25 for 15 minutes, let alone the queue to get out or the machines only accepting coins could cause your bill to go up.
Utlesford District Council wont allow planning for any other meet and greet parking, ie. competition, and the whole system is a rip off.

Also when you get into the terminal at Stanstead it's a 5 mile approx walk to the departure gates through an endless array of shops that near seem to sell a thing. O nice bitten twice shy will never use Stanstead ever again.

I've got to pick up my mums friend from Gatwick tomorrow! So am I understanding this right. I need to go to the long stay cat park to get it free or is it up to 2 hours free in the short stay too?

It's only the long stay, there's a free shuttle bus between it and the terminals. Friend did this last month when picking us up, they text me which area and stop they were parked near and we got shuttle bus to where they were parked.

Ok thanks. Is the long stay car park a lot further away then if you need a shuttle bus?

Anything available for pick ups in Manchester? Guess not but just thought to ask. Thanks.

Just use the drop off for departures and get who ever your picking up to meet you there.

Yes. Just tell them to come to the departure drop off point. Done it a few times :-)
