"Spend £50 or more, get £20 back" at Café Rouge is up on Amex offers. It is on my BAPP. Very nice deal and can combo with any existing vouchers! Limited to 10000, so save to card first as it can last till 30/09/17.

Do-able if buying a giftcard and using vouchers / deals for meals and paying with giftcard.

Looks like Gift Cards are excluded from this deal. But how would AMEX know? Can anyone confirm they have received cashback on a gift card purchase?

They don't, same for any offer like this. Always has been fine and I imagine always will be.

not on additional card; apologies I just posted this and have now marked for removal - no accent in the search before I posted caught me out; serves me right for being a grammar and punctuation pedant usually but in fairness I don't usually type accents in with a UK keyboard!

True. I do think if you purchase the gift card from restaurant, it will go through like normal.

always will be?
you're joking, Morgie - won't be long until the technology improves such that if Amex want to exclude giftcards, it will be easy to do that on the till system/ identification of sale of gcs
probably could do it it now easily enough if they could be bothered

Not sure they'd know, but I'm sure they could do a spot check if you spent exactly £50 or something and get them to check. Not on mine, but I have had this offer before and used it, could that be the reason?>

I work at a similar restaurant and I know the till system Cafe Rouge uses inside out. The card machines are completely separate from the till system so unless AMEX called the restaurant to check they couldn't know that it was a gift card purchase.
Think you'd get away with it to be honest.

I bought a gift card form a branch of C Rouge when the same deal appeared a few months ago and got the £20 statement credit . No issues. Clearly a better way to do it as extended expiry, and don't have to do a spend of £50 or over in one go
BUT buying an egiftcard from the C Rouge website doesn't work. - Obvious (now) that such transactions go through the company that processes the egift cards, and not through Cafe Rouge

I'm sure I will enjoy a meal before end of September! At least, maybe a bottle and a good afternoon tea? :P
