Horizon by Davidoff is a Woody Spicy fragrance for men. Horizon was launched in 2016. Horizon was created by Olivier Pescheux and Jacques Huclier. Top notes are Ginger, Rosemary, Grapefruit and Mandarin Orange; middle notes are Cedar, Patchouli, Pepper, Nutmeg and Sesame; base notes are Vetiver and Cacao Pod.

In February 2016, Davidoff launches its new masculine fragrance, Horizon, which symbolizes the connection between earth and air and draws inspiration from the forces of nature. The element of water that marked the iconic Cool Water is replaced with the element of air in the new release. Horizon represents freedom, adventure and exploration.

"Here he is, far from the beaten track. Before him mountains stretch out in an endless landscape that touches the sky. The breeze is strong, crisply scented with rosemary, leather, vetiver. He looks ahead, fixes a point in the distance. Swift and free as an eagle he climbs from rock to rock...He breathes deeply, stretches his arms to the wind, turns his face to the sun. From this quiet pause between earth and sky a powerful feeling of freedom grows. He's where he wants to be. Master of all he surveys."

The composition is made of woody, spicy and aromatic aromas. It is signed by perfumers Olivier Pescheux and Jacques Huclier. The fresh start combines pungent grapefruit and sweet mandarin with aromatic rosemary and fresh ginger. Cedar wood and spicy nutmeg are in the heart of the perfume, along with patchouli, black sesame seeds and South American pepper. Depth and sensuality is provides by the base made of vetiver and cocoa absolute.

The campaign, featuring Italian model Simone Bredariol, was allegedly shot “amidst real sandstorms, extreme heat and tough terrain”. The TV ad is filmed by director Arnaud Uyttenhove, and it follows the journey of the Horizon man as he climbs the mountain. The print ad, shot by photographer John Balsom, captures his arrival at his destination: “It’s one moment in a story. The story of a man achieving his own goals, reaching his own top, searching his own horizons.”

The bottle is designed by Alnoor, described as “an object one wants to take in one's hand”. It is inspired by the shapes from nature, stones polished by sands of time, balances with curves in clear glass to reveal the warm amber color of the fragrance. The distinctive metal cap features mini-mechanics that protect the spray from being pushed on the move.

It is available as a 40, 75 and 125 ml Eau de Toilette with an accompanying cosmetic line.

Worst fragrance smelled.

Maxwilfong

Fresh, Woody, Herbal, Mass appealing scent. This fragrance could come off as too mature to some though. The only downside of this fragrance is bad performance otherwise this is a no brainer for 20 bucks!!

Zenfold

Bought this first time in 2015 for £70 at perfumeshop. It wasn't the intense version but it would last for days, 2 sprays left and right below the neck and it literally lasted for days, I had many compliments and a lot of looks when walking past.

It's never been the same ever since, that 2015 batch was legendary, I have bought it 5 times again since then but it just does not perform like before.

Scent wise it's very masculine.

This is the only scent I've ever had to ask a stranger directly what it is they've sprayed, will never forget this.

HorlicksB4Bed

I have been saying it for years, and i will keep on saying it. This is the greatest cheapie of all time! Better than Terre D'Hermes 'which i find boring and too one dimensional.
This thing shines on my skin.
I always get people asking me what I'm wearing whenever i wear this!
I never tell them though 😆
It's fantastic!!

This fragrance has grown on me.
I’m wearing it today in a humid weather and it rules! The spicy Vetiver really comes alive and gives off a wonderful aroma.

CodyJr

Similar vibe to Dior homme. The new one.

Messidor

Strong sillage, good longevity. Sweet, warm, tender, a bit musty. Sesame and cacoa are prominent, along with ginger and vetiver. I love the rosemary that imparts it with that charming cool herbal feel.
I don't have la Terre to make any comparison. The scents are pleasant albeit too strong and sweet for crowded spaces like an office or a classroom. Yet for casual wear outdoors in fall or winter it's definitely great. Also, this is not popular as compared to Hermes, Chanel, Artisan blah blah, so it's unique as well.
The atomizer is a cute design, and the plastic cap is fine (because one needs to squeeze to pull the cap so it'd better be plastic to do the job). The price means one can spray freely to soak oneself in the juice's sunny vibe.

Likely discontinued as it's harder to buy and the price has almost doubled.

I'm a previous Terre d'Hermes owner, and I can tell you that Davidoff Horizon is much like Terre but a little bit more soft, sweeter, and probably more mature.

Contrary to the majority perspective, I found Davidoff Horizon to be fairly long-lasting that the smell can last over 12 hours. However, the signature accord will be missing, and only the base note will remain after 12 hours.

A fairly budge-friendly Terre choice, if you are like me who thinks that the original Terre d'Hermes is too harsh and too strong, then horizon can give you the gentle experience of the same smell.

“Rush Hour” by Dayshell plays.

Picture yourself on an open highway. Summer has began its slow transition into autumn and you’re driving at a modest speed towards a desired destination. The sun is reaching the horizon, and the area surrounding you is being blessed with that magnificent magic hour glow.

That moment is this fragrance.

It’s freeing and liberating. The opening has a soft and refined Mandarin Orange that lies upon a coy Ginger note. They play together perfectly. Their play leads you into a serene Cedar note that grounds the fragrance in a beautiful, smoky, lemony vetiver. The end result is pure confidence. The pepper adds a rugged sense of adventure that creates one of the most incredible bases I’ve ever smelled.

This fragrance is masterful. The sillage and longevity are right where they need to be, as the winning quality of this fragrance is the smell, and the nonchalance of it in terms of performance.

It captures the feeling of Freedom. An embrace of change, and a ready and blissful forward motion into the Horizon.

As a man under 30 I really like this fragrance, although I have to admit it isn't meant for men under 35 or even 40. It is a nice quality mature scent with the classic Davidoff vibe like Zino. I tested Horizon on my hand yesterday out of curiosity, it stays around a good amount of time and projects pretty well. For the price it's a nice purchase. And if you're into fragrances like this, you should go for it.

Robinfv

There was a time that Davidoff was renewing and worth blind buying. Releases like CW, Echo, Relax and Zino were groundbreaking for that time. Not now anymore. This is bland and done many times better. Even the name and bottle has been done before (Guy Laroche/Lanvin). A big pass for me.

back2all

It start with alcohol and goes on warm spicy aromatic,
And it finishes of for me.

Side note: it dose not have any performance on skin for me

Gel1088

I thought Davidoff Horizon might be nice for a crisp fall day. And it would be if it had any performance at all. It’s pleasant enough, sort of soft, warm, and buttery. But the scent is very weak and dissipates within 45 minutes.

Yahia1988

Smells harsh and doesnt last too long giving the fact that its EDP. If you're not into these kind of super-male perfumes, stay away!

Sam_NY_89

Great vetiver notes. The concentration of the perfum is like 2% a bottle, the worst performance I ever used. Skip it

Woody57

After trying this out for a month I have changed my mind slightly on this fragrance. Initially I was disappointed by its lack of strong performance and very subtle, dry notes. Now after not touching it for 2 weeks I put it on for a change of pace from my other frags, and what a surprise! Suddenly the ginger was more pronounced and the mandarin was lingering in the background. The patchouli, nutmeg and pepper were there giving it a bit more depth. And the cocao pod added what seemed a richness, almost a slight sweetness not achieved before. And the kicker to me was that it lasted all day and was much nicer in the dry down than the opening. Definitely not linear. It no longer has that dry amber accord to me. I have heard only one person talk about the importance of skin type, diet, and even medication in relation to how a fragrance performs on ones skin. Just one week ago my Dr. told me I could drop one of my medications, and I have been refraining from sugar as well. Very interesting. But I digress. I still believe this is for a much more mature man to wear. But it's a richer and slightly sweeter scent than I originally thought. I no longer regret buying it and look forward to using it all throughout Spring and Summer. Mature, refined, respectful, subtle. For the quiet, confident thinking man who doesn't need to say..."Here I am!" Good performance for 4-5 hours that becomes a skin scent for the rest of the day. I resprayed with 2-3 spritzes in the afternoon for my own pleasure, but it was still noticeable without.

Woody57

Young man, this is not the fragrance you're looking for. No bold, youthful or sweet notes here. Rather subtle, mature and dry. I am day 3 into my 5 day testing of Davidoff's Horizon. The bottle and presentation are class. But my nose cannot detect any fresh ginger, grapefruit or rosemary. To me I pick up some dry orange, cedar and patchouli mixed in with the vetiver. And much, much later a hint of dry cocao. Strange enough, I get a subtle but consistent amber accord the first 3 hours. It even reminds me of a less feminine version of my wife's Elixer des Merveilles by Hermes, just not as strong. Usually it's very cold here in Switzerland late February. But this week it's been 15 celcius every day so I thought I'd give it a go. I am less than impressed with performance to say the least, but will give it a chance once things warm up a bit. If the covid regs loosen up next month I'll have to douse myself in it and see if anyone in church notices. I paid 25 dollars for it but would not recommend blind buying this at any price.

sameenuk

On paper, this seems a great scent for me. But it's topnotes are a bit harsh. But here is the thing, it is barely noticeable. I can hardly smell this after an hour. I'm wondering if it's a very bad batch. I can smell the rosemary and orange. I like the bottle but I think even at that fairly low price point, this is poor value

johnjubal1958

I've sprayed this on my wrist three times and after two hours it's hardly noticeable. It is the middle of winter and the temperature is about 5-6c. It is lingering but I don't think it will last another hour. I'll give it a bash again in the Spring and Summer und update. It is a Pleasant fragrance but I hope there is more to it!

vangalias

Terre d'hermes is one of my favorite fragrances and I ordered this blindly because of all the comparisons. Horizon does not smell like Terre D'Hermes, but I still like it very very much.
It smells classy and expensive to me, but I can not exactly pinpoint why. It reminds me of something that I smelled years ago - something that belongs in a luxury boutique. I think it is the grapefruit, combined with the woody notes.
Less in-your-face than Terre d'hermes, maybe a little more casual, which makes it а great signature scent for Autumn and Spring for me.
Definitely a fragrance for men over 35.

yaco550

I just love it.Just Amazing when you come out from home.

disgustipated

this stuff is a powerhouse. it lasts me throughout a whole shift in a kitchen. i can't say that for any other juice at this price point. as for the scent, one of your uncles very likely used to smell like this. sharp woody citrus fresh potent offensive... i love it! excellent value for money.

raiza1990

It is not unpleasant but it smells old fashioned. It is not sexy and my husband hated it. It projects well, though. If you're looking for a moderately spicy fragrance, try it.
Final note: 4,5/10

Ravelags

I like how it smells at the beginning, I really love perfume woody, simple, strong, easy to use and has its own character. To be the one of my first perfumes is very valuable and worth to the price, my girlfriend also love it.
But after a year of use I feel bored with these characters.

Overall 7.5 / 10

still worth. Thankyou for the memories now i go to the next level which is terre d hermes

Leftofscenter

Mixed feelings about this one.
When I first sprayed it, I was surprised as I was hit by an enormous scent memory!
Something in this smells exactly like my late grandparents house. I can’t pinpoint what exactly, maybe the furniture? It was quite a distinctive smell that I only came across there and this scent really took me back 40 years.
So, as I’m nostalgic, I was happy already.
I also liked the scent itself, I get the grapefruit and rosemary, maybe the cacao too.
It’s quite aromatic and you do get a scent bubble.
Somehow everything combines to give me the impression of leather in the dry down. Not serious leather, just an impression as I say.
Sillage and longevity are on the good side of moderate.
I wore this in the office and a girl sat nearby started thinking her computer was overheating and mentioned something about a mysterious “toner” type smell she kept getting whiffs of.
For a second I hoped it wasn’t me, but I knew it was as her description made sense.
That kind of killed it for me and I’ve not worn it since!

Kinggeebee

It opens with rosemary and feint ginger, then I get lots of patchouli and cacao... you see, I run very hot...

Then vetyver in the far drydown.

It lasts around 7 hours for me.

Interesting.

Migalex

I can understand other people’s negative reactions to the opening. But if you give it time, it turns into quite a nice scent, although somehow unusual.it is very spicy, but not sweet spicy, what I feel stronger is nutmeg, with a coumin edge. Cannot smell most of the other notes as such. I find the sillage poor, it is more a skin scent, but that is the norm these days. Having said that, it is not a fragrance I would wear.

RobbieX

To add.....It's OK would will not replace this when I've finished it.

Ellej32

I blind bought this and at first smell instantly regretted it can’t stand the smell.. not that it’s the worst smell in the world I just really don’t like it, really smelled like Hermes and I don’t like that either but if you do like Hermes this is a great cheaper alternative. Maybe I just don’t like this on my own skin as I’ve never encountered anyone else wearing it.

Br'eauDeCologne

Per my prior review, I like this. I don't love it. It's a solid like.

However, something about this must really work with my chemistry for OTHER people's noses. I've gotten more random compliments on this fragrance than anything I've worn on a regular basis in some time. This includes those kind words that come in after 10-12 hours, long after I can barely notice it.

I don't wear fragrance for compliments, but the sheer number of them I've received while wearing Horizon merits a shout out.

Br'eauDeCologne

Office-friendly, aromatic, easy on the wallet, and good quality for the money. I find the notes to be represented exactly as written about ... but everyone's chemistry is different, so trying is a must.

A note about longevity. I agree that on skin, this SEEMS to dissipate in a few hours. That said: after an 11 hour work day I was still getting multiple compliments. I usually spray my shirt a few times in addition to my skin. Were the complimentors only catching the whiff of my shirt? Or did they also catch it on my skin? Is it possible that Horizon lasts a long time but, easy to become anosmic to?

I don't have the answers to those questions. However, I can tell you that Horizon is absolutely worth a try. For the money, it's hard to beat its overall personality, quality and versatility. ✔️

montia

It's a good aromatic scent, but only after an hour. First hour is too synthetic or harsh/sour in my opinion. The extreme version is better in the sense that aromatic and woody notes make their entrance at the very beginning. Although I prefer this version, because Horizon Extreme smells a little bit too dated.
7/10 for this one

Oh, and it DOES NOT smell like Terre d'Hermes

firasmalanzy

Woody/earthy, ginger, vetiver and a little bit cedar from the opening to the drydown, it smell like wet tobacco somehow, not bad, suitable for wearing in summer, spring and fall for mature folks.

RobbieX

A clean, fresh spicy/herbal fragrance. The Rosemary is very noticeable and the patchouli is evident in the dry down. Longevity and silage moderate. No WOW factor, but it's a versatile juice that's pleasant to wear. Not expensive and well worth a try.

mike2342

Such an uplifting fragrance. I blind baught this not expecting much but i was shocked at how joyful it is to wear. Wish i got it sooner, its a real bargain aswell
Starting to enjoy alot of davidoff scents. Even cool water yet again
9/10
10/10 for price and versatility

johnnyz

Just bought a 1.35 oz bottle at Kohl's. It was on sale for a mere $14.00 so I couldn't pass it up although I'd never smelled it before... Boy, am I glad I bought it.. Love the scent ( I own well over 100 fragrances ) and this has become one of my regular go-to's ... I actually get a lot more compliments from this fragrance than I do from a lot of my higher end, more expensive ones... I do agree that longevity could be better, but it's very inexpensive without smelling like it and I personally still get a good 4 solid hours from it on my skin and and considerably more if I spray it on my shirt... Fantastic stuff.

aet

A nice scent. Not great. Not bad. Nice. Very wearable for work or daytime. Does NOT smell like Terre d'Hermes, but does follow the same citrus/earthy line. Longevity medium...certainly not as bad on me as it apparently is on others... Not a bad buy.

84k

Think I need a full bottle of this as the decant I've got lasts under an hour on my skin and clothes, unless it's a case of don't believe the other reviews?!

Mega shame really as it smells great, exactly what I was looking for, sort of an Old Spice/Creed Viking vibe. Feels warm, safe and inviting, the gf loves it, she can't smell it after an hour either though.

realfrags

Caveat emptor, caveat lector.
Don't believe the youtube reviews, and take these reviews here with a tbsp of salt.

This cologne is.. not bad, but not special in any way. Most importantly, it is extremely weak. Longevity is very, VERY short. Even as a skin scent.
It lasts perhaps 2 hours. (I DO have scents that last up to 24 hours on my skin, so don't even think about it)

I, for one, will not watch any more youtube review videos, these people are just so full of it.
No more.

Mrs. ELE Arjona

I found a 40ml for a good deal, looked up the notes and blind bought. Wow! Did I ever mine a gem that day! While I was checking out the cashier was terribly excited, as she and her Mother had purchased a higher priced bottle for her Step Father as a gift. She wanted to know how many were on the shelf so she could purchase one for her Boyfriend, she said she absolutely loved the smell.

This scent is interesting to me because Davidoff is pretty well known for Cool Water. Horizon is refreshing, but not in an aquatic sense. The paragraph up top describes how they wanted to evoke air, depicting a Man on an outdoor adventure/spirit quest. At any rate it does evoke the sense of refreshed warmth, clean fresh air and that good feeling you get on bright sunny warm dry days.

My Husband seems to spray this on when we go out alone, and it makes me feel special to get that waft of scent on the breeze when he is next to me. The citrus top when you first spray dissipates into a spicy woody warm fragrance that is still somehow refreshing. Fits my Husbands chemistry perfectly! I highly recommend this!

On a side note the bottle does feel like a river rock. I usually don't pay too much attention to bottles, but I think its a nice touch and it plays into the image Davidoff was conjuring.

Voodoochild82

Don't sleep on this one, people. It's a real gem, especially for the price. A lot of the bad press this received had to with everyone skipping this and going directly to the extreme version, which isn't very good.

RWF

Masculine, Timeless.

I'll be the one to say this is a brilliant fragrance amidst the many average ratings. This is a fragrance you can wear day in, day out and expect great reactions from those around you.

Im a big fan of the ginger and vetiver combo and always look forward to wearing this. Great release from Davidoff!

mrmattcat78

Ok any one who has any doubts about this fragrance, I went to go pick up a recliner for my new apartment from a lady and she said wow you smell so good I could lick you, plus my friend she said also you smell really good I really like this one , winner winner chicken dinner, works well with me 8 plus hours

jdfarley

Thoroughly pleasant...but also thoroughly average. Sweet, spicy, and woody accord that is very pleasant. Better than Adventure, but don't expect anything groundbreaking.

Dafffid

This is the fragrance that Adventure should have been. The first rush is grapefruit and mandarin, then the ginger comes through, and the whole thing becomes more woodsy and the vetiver emerges as it settles. I get no patchoulli whatsoever, but that's ok in what is a Spring or summer scent, surely. I can see why it's been likened to Terre D'Hermes. I like this a lot, and its longevity especially, but also its sillage is far better than its close cousin Adventure. A very solid bargain buy for Spring time day wear

mkamelg

It's a year 2018 and according to official Davidoff website the current fragrance pyramid looks like this:

Top Notes: Rosemary, Ginger

Middle Notes: Cocoa

Base Notes: Vetiver, Cedarwood

I bought 125 ml from Fragrance Direct.

Batch code: F70668443092

Date of manufacture: June 2017

Currently during January/February months here in Central Europe this scent has very poor longevity and projection. I sprayed two times at my wrists and four times at my cotton t-shirt in temperature 20 degrees Celsius and then I went outside where temperatures was in range 0-5 degrees Celsius. In half an hour there was nothing to feel in the air, when I got home I could smell this scent only on my wrists with my nose next to them.

ayaya

This Frag Is not for everyone. I regret my Purchase i didnt realise I was gonna smell Like an Archaelogist, and I bought the 125ml, this Perfume is not my style at all. The previous Davidoff release sucked and this too sucks, I think the house should call it quits now.

beachbum1970

I sampled this at Kohl's the other day. Liked it, so went back the following day and purchased it. I get pineapple, cedar and pepper. Very warm and woodsy. I love the opening and thought this may be my new winter scent, but after a few wearings, I've decided this one isn't for me. The pepper and woody dry down is just to much for me, to the point where I can't wait to shower and get the smell off me. Love the bottle design though. The sides of the bottle are frosted glass (doesn't show in the photos). I was worried about the sprayer; it has a swivel metal top that looks easy to break, but there is a plastic cap to protect it when traveling. Longevity is decent. Yeah, thought I loved this, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to let this one go.

c_chengwen

Davidoff Horizon is simply nice without being overwhelming, and gives the vibe of the usual CK products that I smell off high school students not too concerned of their choices in fragrance. It's refreshing, citrusy, inoffensive, and lasts decently.

First phase (0-2 hr): Off the bat the vetiver and grapefruit combination smacks me in the face. It's a little harsh, but tones down in 3 minutes or so. The citrus sticks out as the vetiver tones down.

Second phase (2-4 hr): Citrus domination, a little bit of cedar and patchouli on the scene. Very pleasant and easy on the nose. Beyond this phase, the citrus hangs on and becomes linear.

Scent: 6/10.
Nothing special; fresh, inoffensive, not much to think about. A zesty, active, and outgoing person.
Projection: 7/10.
Not powerhouse-like, faint whiffs at arms length. Needs some heat to project well.
Versatility: 5/10.
Can be used for most informal occasions. Definitely not for winter, and autumn would be a stretch.

Overall: 5.5/10 (Decent)

RobbieX

A lovely perfume. Reminds me of Avon's Ironman but with extra pepper. Longevity and silage good. I'm going to buy this one.

MrPlanB

Got it as a gift, dark citrus and ginger is all i get.
Nothing special. Definitely a pass.

karlovonamesti

Despite certain misgivings about the name (Guy Laroche's ill fated fragrance comes to mind), I like this one. It's not very complex and it never wows me, but the deftly blended gingery citrus and fresh baking spices are cheerful and classy. I get an overwhelming sense of nutmeg, cinnamon, and white pepper for a few hours, and the fact that I can identify organic notes instead of mysterious synthetic fantasy accords makes this Davidoff feel "classic," almost like an understated oriental from the early nineties. Recommended.

fisken23

First wearing, 1 hour so far.
My take on this up til now: Kind of nice, but not for the younger crowd -25. Initally a bit mature and i get a oldschool-feeling.
Let´s see if this frag transforms into something els in a few hours.

Wooster97

Try the newer Edp version if your concerned about the longevity of it,lovely peppery smell and very woody, warming smell and a very good creation by davidoff,I would be inclined to ignore the over the top negativity in certain reviews

MjrS

Nah, this one is boring and characterless. Looks like the times of Davidoff's great releases (Zino, Cool Water) have passed.
Although this one is at least wearable, unlike The Game.

Still, RIP, dear Davidoff perfumes, I was happy to know your early greatness.

Neo Ramaphoko

Nothing but love for this one , a friend of mine that works at red square where they sell fragrances was so eager and forcing me to try this stuff , while at the shop I was wearing angel men and I told him not to spray this on me coz I don't like mixing smells on me . Then I sprayed like two shots at my friends arms and wow wow few mins later this juice was nothing but magnificent smell and projection , most men David off fragrances that I know don't set a standard like this one, and I was so amazed with this one. Guess what ? Later after his shift he brought me a tester full bottle for free and my day went from 0-100% best day ever and I must say I'm happy to own a bottle great JOB!!

spumyland

Pero'....

Ok,...il prezzo e' giusto.

Non per me,gradito ai miei colleghi.

tattoo_ladyk

Accidentally sprayed this on my wrists (only glanced at the flanker and thought it was a woman's perfume - enough said for the bottle then). I liked it immediately, even for me. A nice production by Davidoff, warm, inviting, like having my husband put his coat around my shoulders on a chilly night, masculine but just as much, powerful but just as much, you get the idea. It is captivating, but soft, with good longevity and a nice, round combination of the notes, which gives it its character.

Bottledbull

Fantastic release from davidoff. .especially after that awful 'the game' release ..citrus and woods, nice and fruity ..very clean and great opening that very few will dislike, will make a fab summer fragrance and so far I get decent performance with a solid 2hrs of projection ..the bottle is very classy also. I agree with a previous reviewer, it is like a variation of chanel bleu but brighter, hardly smell any cocoa or patchouli ..to me it's like a good quality Italian style cologne.

keen(nose)

I got a sample of this with some shower gel to layer the fragrance. It is a lovely smell that is very subtle. This lovely scent is too weak in my opinion even though I got complimented when in my zone. I get citrus, ginger and pepper with the vetiver giving it a clean fresh scent. The citrus hangs around to the end with the giger. The pepper note is the most distinc note on here. I say this one is a pass for me because it doesn't have any wow factor. That being said it is a good casual fragrance that I think the price will go down on. I don't like the mediocracy with the house of Davidoff in the designer fragrances.

Projection 3/10
Longevity 6/10 (3-6 Hrs)
Sillage 2/10

@alabangcute:
I dont think so at all, but the drydown is similar to Guerlain l'Instant, with the cocoa.

alabangcute

does it really smell like terre de hermes? even the saleslady said so at duty free mall. lol.

rmf1112

Shocked at how short lived this is. Seriously less than 10 min and its gone. The sprayer doesnt even smell like anything! It is hard to get a good whiff, but there is a little bit of ginger in there, but the dry kind, not fresh. And dont let anyone convince you that any part if this is strong or overpowering, as I have seen relating to the ginger in this.

Can we expect this year's horizon extreme to be an actual fragrance, not just the fleeting glimpse of one like this is?

Shawnnick

To my nose a lot of vetiver and grapefruit.shocked by how much i like this!Getting pretty good projection and longevity, not mindblowingly so but its there and im enjoying it.Feels mature and clean

faisal056

Not unique but not bad though.

It's my mistake to buy this with too short time in shop. It is 95% similar to the perfume I already have, John Richmond for men. After 10 minutes, it is the same for my feeling. It is not bad but why I have to buy the same perfume 2 bottles. Very strong ginger note even overnight.

Reassuring.

Reassuringly clean, fresh and green. Silage is moderate to average; not overpowering, but with a couple of sprays on one area of my arm, I could easily smell this pleasant aroma.

This latest offering from Davidoff may possibly appeal more to the guy over 35 whose looking for something fresh and conservative to wear to work in the office.

Traditional (with a small 'T'), sensible and pleasant, Horizon is the kind of middle aged scent for men that will appeal to many, a bit like a popular model of car may do for example.

Horizon is likely to make for a good 'safe' gift-type of scent for any males in your life who could benefit from adding a scent to their daily grooming regimen, but whose tastes are limited and conservative (no pejorative inference meant by the way).

Statements are so contradictory about it's projection and durance .is there anybody to explain it and help me.

Coty,

I never would of thought of this being a Davidoff fragrance. All considering, I'm impressed with this juice. Not your typical generic drug store fragrance, it takes on a real attractive spicy/woodsy aroma and continues through. After 10min I'm able to pick up both ginger and rosemary giving it a slightly herbal vib. There's just a hint of grapefruit to balance the spicy/woodsy notes.
Longevity and Silage is nice...at least 6hrs.
Finally,
I'm glad to see that once in awhile a few decent quality fragrance are still being produced at an affordable price...this is definitely one of them.....8/10
Edit;
I agree with the review above, Terre D' Hermas is all the note I'm able to pick up. For a very low price, how could you go wrong. Very attractive fragrance at a VERY affordable price.

Horizon is a subtle scent but a very good one IMHO.

Has a beautiful earthiness to it which develops about a half hour after application.

Horizon stays close to the wearer but people will pick it up when they are near you. A couple ladies in work have asked me what it was stating they haven't smelled anything quite like it (they took a note of the name and brand so obviously thinking would be good for their hubbie/boyfriend).

Would say this would be great in milder weather such as spring/fall.

Thumbs Up! :)

Holy crap! To my fellow Canuck members, if you head over to your local Shoppers Drug Mart, you may just be able to snag yourself a 75ml bottle of this for $19.99 - like I just did:) I get the grapefruit and ginger right away. So far, so good. Will have to see how it goes from here.

Edit: So, a little while after application, the cedar and pepper start to come through. Then, the cacao joins in, and it turns slightly powdery. It transitions from opening to dry down fairly quickly to me, and sadly, there is no trace of it within a couple of hours. Such a shame, because I really like this. It's definitely worth the 20 bucks I paid for it, but I wouldn't pay more than that, given the poor longevity.

Wow... Do I smell a fresher version of Zino by Davidoff? It smells prett damn good!

Houdini4

This is an extremely decent and respectable new fragrance from Davidoff. The opening is ginger, grapefruit and that fresh/woody then clean and soapy accord of something more boring or that I would usually label as very mediocre designer business. However, the redeeming characteristics of Horizon are the warmer & dirtier elements in the base. There's patchouli and even a hint of cacao which you'd think has no business being in here but it is and makes for a subtly different dry down. You can't fault this fragrance for maintaining that fresh spicy feel throughout and an almost uplifting menthol type feel to the ginger and spice. I thoroughly enjoyed wearing it the other day.
The performance was okay on me but it dies down to a very nice but close dry down which again I can't fault for not being a powerhouse.
All in all this is well worth checking out. It didn't blow me away but it's nice to see a new release that is masculine, wearable and with an aspect of interest to it.

I tried this for the first time today as I was given a tester sample and the initial smell is nice and fresh and I thought this could be my next purchase. However, after an hour or so it smells exactly like Mont Blanc Exceptionel to my nose. Now this is no bad thing as it is one of my favourite fragrances but it is too similar for me so I don't think I'll be buying this at the moment. Lovely though.

When I saw Horizon I was immediately reminded of Event Horizon, the science fiction horror movie.
My first imagination was, did they take the movie as inspiration?
Something futuristic, mysterious, exceptional.
The answer is no.
Davidoff Horizon does nothing have to do with science fiction, it´s even old school.

Yes, Horizon smells very much like the Powerhouse era.
Horizon smells masculine, mossy.
Davidoff recognized that the fashion trend is moving back to old school. And so the fragrances do.
Welcome back to old school.

A few days ago I just happened to be passing through a London department store as it was my day off and as I usually work within the fragrance sector I know that its around this time of year when there are new fragrance launches and promotions. one of the fragrance consultants stopped me and asked if I wanted to sample the new fragrance by Davidoff. but what struck me was the name Horizon and I couldn't help thinking that I have heard that name before and it suddenly dawned on me that I had had a fragrance in the early 90s with the same sounding name by the French and late fashion house of Guy Loroche called also Horizon, it was a really fascinating scent, but I wouldn't define it as the best fragrance but however it was surely intriguing, a cult scent ahead of its time and for me making a creative use and statement of both green fougere structure and fruit-floral-aquatic accords. that what I get here. in fact I think basically the new Davidoff fragrance is a new takeoff a new reformulated interpretation of the Guy Loroche men's fragrance of that era. if so there isn't really much difference and much smell to the make or description but overall is isn't anything new. the Guy Loroche was launched back in (1993). basically it is the same fragrance slightly tweaked to come into line with the (21st) century as like a lot of these cult fragrances I used back in the early to late (90s) such as (Jil Sander) (Yohji Yamamotto) and (Cacharel) and (Helmut Lang). they all seem to be coming back. it maybe because of the overwhelming response from fragrance lover or it could be that the fashion houses of that era has revived themselves and that there is call to R-launch those iconic fragrance lines!

Citrus mandarin and ginger Dam. I need. To try. This is it anything like yves saint laurent M7 fresh? ???????????

bronstein

Interesting, yet a bit weak. This one accomplishes to use vetiver as a base without smelling too much of it, which makes it an intreresting mix with many things to discover. Furthermore, its lightness makes this one suitable for the oncoming warm months. All in all, a decent performance.

This is a stunning new fragrance. The ginger and rosemary on first spritz is quite warming and I detect a citrusy note that makes it fresh too. The woodsy notes after around 10 minutes are very nice. I can clearly smell cedar and vetiver. The blend of notes in this fragrance are very good and very pleasing. I have had very nice comments on wearing this fragrance. The dry down is amazing and I'm loving the black cocoa scent it lingers around for quite a while. Lasts quite a while on my skin and I'm getting wafts all day long after 4 sprays. I'm very happy with Horizon. A good solid 8/10

fraenky

this is really nice!

no one see the similarity to bleu? i love bleu and horizon seems to be a more fruitier, not so bitter version of it.

I really liked the opening and horizons heart notes, i was blown away by this parts, but than all of a sudden, after an hour or so, the scent seems to fall apart and becomes a vetiver without soul, i have to give it another few tries, because my skin is really dry and tends to render scents, with large fluctuations, depending what i have eaten, climate etc. and i have tested horizon right after i have taken a shower, a circumstance where my skin is super dry, like the lable :D

Just started wet-shaving again after a couple of years and was looking for some aftershave balm. Bought Davidoff Horizon on a whim but loved the balm so much I bought the EdT the next day.

I'm pretty picky when it comes to fragrances. Most smell similar to me and usually contain some note which irritates me after a short time.

Not with Horizon! I absolutely love this fragrance and even re-apply (which is quite unusual for me).

I'm not good at describing smells but the reminds me of pineforest and some citrus even after the dry-down. It's warm and woody enough for cold days but fresh enough for a warm day as well. Sillage and longevity are moderate on me. I don't feel the need to re-apply until well after noon.

I've never had signature fragrance until now!

Coffee King

I am absolutely speechless at how good this is, for anyone that was a fan of Guerlain's Coriolan back in the 90's this is incredibly similar, closer then L'Instant, as has been mentioned before. Great job Davidoff, best fragrance from that house for a long long time. This is excellent.

Hugo Montez

I smelled today and i liked it. I get a blast of patchouli, orange, pepper and some cacao and vetiver nuances. These last 2 not very present. It's something that it's not unique but it's a good fragrance for Davidoff.

EDIT: Forget the Patchouli. I tried again today and what i got was a strong vetiver with the fresh grapefruit and some pepper and sweet cacao on the background. Very nice scent.

Endymion

Should have been named 'A smell'. Just "meh", nothing to write home about.

groover

I am still wondering what to write
about this fragrance, i get a lot of
pepper and ginger most of the time,
but the other notes blend in and disappers
just like that, honestly it reminds me of
Terre d'Hermes at least in the drydown.

YOU MIGHT GET TIRED OF WAITING

Yesterday I had the opportunity to try 'HORIZON' by Davidoff. All I could perceive was a fresh scent, very clear but also very faint. Because I tries a different fragrance a few second earlier, I could barely sense anything about it.

24 hours later, I can't let the strip from the fragrance-store alone. The pepper spices up the warm mix of cocoa and cedar. It smells quite good, very pleasant and neat.

Like other users before me have stated, it smells somehow familiar, but unfortunately, I can't put my finder on it... Maybe other users can hint me in the right direction. But one might get tired of waiting to get to the 'good stuff'

Longetivity: - 5/10
Sillage: - 3/10

All in all: 4 out of 10 points

alexandra13

Very very nice indeed. Sprayed it on the paper strip with my hubby in mind and decided on the spot to get it for him. Very masculine, fresh, woody, charming. I also have high hopes for the longevity; it stayed on the strip for the entire week I had it lying around, until I threw it out. Must get on next salary (to hubby: "You shall wear this and you shall like it.")

Bruno2theV

It is already available in Portugal and of course I tryed it right away.

I know I smelled something similar before but I cannot remember what it was. But it is a nice citrus fragrance, there is a point where it becomes a little similar to L'instant de Guerlain.

I can detect a little bit of cacao on it but nothing too big.

It is a nice fragrance anyway :)
