Firstly, this is a nicely packaged item, the box is good and it is supplied with fittings and the voice warning is a neat little feature
It is an attractive package item that feels sturdy and well put together and if I were rating this as a piece of aesthetic design it would get 6 stars out of 5;
But
Concerns that prevent the product getting 5 stars:
Nowhere in the product instructions does it state what lifespan the product has, for a CO detector this is massively important as maximum functional life is between 5 and 10 years depending on the model due to the way that the CO detection part works. This is a serious concern as those who don't know better will just keep replacing the batteries long after the detector functionality is lost.
NO Kite mark on the box
NO mention of complaince with EN safety standards anywhere on the box or the product
Compliance to EN50291 that the listing claims, well, the instruction manual says "based on the EN50291 Standard" which is marketing speak for this product hasnt been tested, there is nothing in this product that makes any claim that the product has been properly tested or actually meets the required legal standard. On this basis and having read the 'Which?'* reports on CO detectors, please think seriously before you purchase this product. *This product wasnt tested by 'Which?'.
DISCLAIMER: Unlike some of the convenient 5 star reviews below, I paid full price for this product purely as a customer replacing an expired alarm and my review is based on the item I have in my hand with some internet research.
