What is the difference between Fendi and Fendi Donna? The fragrance notes were the same when I compared them. Anyone know? I just received a mini of Fenid Donna and it is lovely. Smells like regular Fendi to me from what I can remember. I would have to sniff them side by side to detect a difference. Thanks...

Umm that's strange that you say Fendi Donna in the first place as there isn't a Fendi Donna per se, both "Fendi" for women are called just that, without the donna in the title. I mean if you got a Fendi Donna bottle it must be a fake. In general though, it's ok to make the distiction between one and the other by saying Fendi Donna (as in the old formula) and Fendi (new formula). Legally, it's Fendi Eau de Parfum/EDT for both.

Another thing is the scent, both Fendi fragrances (Fendi -for women original formula and Fendi -for women relaunched formula) are quite different and it's rather obvious that the latter has more leather and it's weaker and the original is more intense and a floriental with a heavier chypre feel.

Both i think are nice, but they never fall under the wow! category.
Most people prefer the original formulation because of the wonderful layering of the notes and the lasting quality of it. I prefer the later version but only because of personal reasons and not for the quality or the beauty of the scent itself, it reminded me of an early -and flawed- theorema.

Now, Theorema, that's real beauty!. But that's another story.

Hope that helped.

I also believe these two are the same fragrance, the word "Donna" does not appear anywhere on the bottle/box and is used to differentiate between Fendi and Fendi Uomo (so very nice in its own way!), packaged in almost the same color palette of bright yellow and black and paler yellow and dark grey.

On the side note I got to admit that Fendi girls DO release fragrances agreeing with my chemistry, I have not met a single one that sits crooked on me.

Donna = Woman as Uomo = Man in Italy so when people say Fendi Donna they should be referring to the original formulation (clear glass, black attachments, edged in gold) in the substansive gold 'pelt' box with black and grey writing / edging. I find the Fendi listings confusing in the Basenotes directory - but I think this is due more to companies faffing about with names. Fendi (Edition 2004) (clear glass, opaque white attachments, edged in gold) in the white box with soft grey writing and amber cellophane wrap.

There was Fendi (as described above, launched 1985) but then soon after the millenium, the company decided to update and rejuvenate, releasing a modern, youthful interpretation of their brand scent (Edition 2004) which they also named Fendi. Confusion promptly ensued...

Fendi Donna is the unofficial name of the original Fendi Woman and is a classic rich, complex, amber leather chypre.

Fendi (Edition 2004) is a warm fruity floriental, more casual and relaxed in expression.

HTH :D

I have to admit here sometimes I've dreamt to smell the beautiful and sadly discontinued Asja on you my dear...:)

Okay, this is starting to make sense to me now. I have a mini of the original Fendi. No wonder it smelled so hauntingly familiar.

I was wondering why some companies would list it as Fendi Donna, and others didn't. I'm perfectly happy with the original Fendi. It would be interesting to compare the old to the new version.

I used to wear this years ago. I then decided I didn't like it anymore and got rid of it. I welcome it back. Another one I got rid of but would like to resurrect is Cinnabar.
