Musc Nomade by Goutal is a Amber Woody fragrance for women and men. Musc Nomade was launched in 2008. Musc Nomade was created by Camille Goutal and Isabelle Doyen.

Musc Nomade is the fourth fragrance from the Les Amberistes Collection and is inspired by the scents of Quatrain princesses (customers Camille Goutal and Isabelle Doyen) who use musk and rose essence to perfume their bodies and hair. Added to this feminine scented harmony is aromatic agar wood smoke from the princesses' chambers. Musc Nomade is the “supernatural” musk, created from synthetic and herbal ingredients. A sensual cloud of white musk (synthetic musk muscone, angelica root, ambrette seed) spreads throughout the creamy texture of amber. Resins and wood compose the base: tonka, labdanum, and Bombay wood, which is a kind of papyrus. The fragrance was launched in April 2008. It is available in a 100 ml bottle.

Just rediscovered my little 15 ml bottle of this. Almost empty and easily forgotten among them bigger bottles. Re-smelling it makes me smile. Musc Nomade is a beautiful and very comforting vegetal musk. When I first bought it many years ago, I didn’t like it at all. I was in love with the bottle, which is not the new one pictured here. To me it was too musty and old “stuffish”. Today that is exactly what I like about it. It smells like visiting old antique markets on a cool autumn day. The outdoorsy ones, where you stroll a long with a warm drink in your hand and plenty of time to just be. Long coat, big wollen scarf, chunky boots browsing through old books, drawings, glas christmas ornaments, antique jewelry, heavy crystal flacons, silver cutlery on worn out porcelain plates and intricate hand-decorated fabrics from an era of craftmanship that is long gone. It could be anywhere, but most likely one of the european capitals. Pouces de Saint-Ouen in Paris, Portobello Road in London or the Vrijmarkt in Amsterdam. It kind of fits the same space as Miller Harris’ L’Air de Rien. They are both cosy earthy muscs that smell very human. Slightly powdery (with L’Air de Rien being more so), dry and warm with a hint of either incense or papyrus. The difference to me is that L’Air de Rien feels like cosying up indoors in an old library or a “downstairs” kitchen with a gigantic old stove, whereas Musc Nomade is more outdoorsy. They are both intimate fragrances, but with excellent lasting power and highly recommendable if you like this type of muscs.

What a bizarre, oily musk. Not like any other musk I've smelled. Very subtle, per the house's rules, but still rather attractive.

Not at all exiting, and something you probably won't buy, but would wear all the time if you did.

TooShae

Blind purchased a deluxe sample of this, partly because of the reviews here and partly because I love musk. Sadly, this is an immediate no for me.

Below, a few years back, Enola wrote a review that perfectly describes how I feel about this scent....

"I love musk but this one is too earthy, too dusty, somehow "old" to be pleasant. It's like smelling the scent it should be, but covered in dust. Makes me feel like I'm watching my grandma's youth pictures with foggy glasses."

She is spot on. To my nose it does possess elegance, it smells like someone with old money. But old as in Miss Havisham old. Beautiful woman, beautiful dress, beautiful surroundings...all covered in dust.

As a few reviewers have also said, I smell some floral notes (rose or white flower?) that are not listed. Not exactly sure. Longevity is very good. This scent is persistent, I could smell it even after washing it off.

All in all, not for me. I can appreciate the scent, but just cannot wear it.

Musc Nomade by Goutal Paris
(0282A/48, USD 85)

Musc Nomade was a blind buy for me, as I was collecting Goutal.
I familiar with all the note listed. However, when I sniff for very first time I am not sure.
It is dry woody ambretty musk, I doubt. I test on my hand a few time.
I don't get a concept of the name "Musc Nomade either"

After Leaving this for a big while and when it is about to go to decluttering.
I decided to wear this for the last tine, I remember that I never really full wear this one.
Just for a laugh but I discover something greatly in return.

I spray heavily, around 30 sprays as this is really soft fragrance.
Both Fabric and Skin, and I understand this why so call "Musc Nomade"
Because Musc Nomade blends seamlessly into your skin.
It like you skin but smell much better, sweet and floral.
It smells like natural goddess skin.

I think this fragrance must introduce with moisture.
That why I am not successful when I test on my hand.
Because that area is dry.

But when I applied on more damp area of skin.
It becomes translucent, sweet Musc that really enjoyable.

I think, This will be another keeper in my collection.
As this layer also well with other scent and on it own.

If you appreciate 2nd skins scent.
I think this will be so wonderful.

It calls Musc nomade because it blends so well to your skin.

Score : 9/10
Longevity : 8 hours
Projection : Very close to the skin
Classification : Unisex

(Shake of back and fort)

“In the Orient of 1,001 Nights, princesses perfumed their bodies and hair with a divine mixture of musk and refined essences. Like a trip through time, Musc Nomade invites us to join the caravans that carried the precious ingredients used in this perfumed ritual.”

To be honest, I am quite back and fort with Musc Nomade.. I now collect all 3 fragrances from Les Orientalistes collection (the new one, not OG with myrrh). Musc Nomade was the new replacement. Yes, they do smell Oriental to me.
Especially the incense one and the amber one.

But the Musc.. I have no idea.
This might be the interpretation of ancient princess skin smell like (?).
I can’t see that vividly, the translucent dry powdery-woody but sweet moist medicinal musk (?).

I don’t like the smell of sprayer, to be honest. It is unlikeable woody musk, I bring out to spray on my skin yet I fall in love when perfumes bloom on my skin once again. This is one is so tricky to really appreciates the quality of it.

When I get a whip in the air of sweet woody moist musk. It so natural to my nose and smell wonderful but when I put my nose my elbow nook… it just not as good as when I get a whip of it. It might be quality of amber kind of fragrance after all.

I could see a neat, polite person wear this. If their is 1 step up from Molecule 01/02 this should be it.

The wried point that I now start to don’t care for Jersey or No.18 (both are Chanel fragrances).. but this one I still comeback to it. The transparentness yet good in longevity is the key I think what make Musc Nomade beautiful.

Please allow me to reflex true score for this fragrance, consider how hard to understand. I will reduce score to 7/10 for now.
=====
(You make skip the below paragraph, I just actualize certain thought but it is not part of Musc Nomade)

I was messy with my Chanel fragrance collection a big while.
I own 11 of them, I can cut to 10 (Sorry, Misia) but my cabinet can put only 9 but I can’t decide which one I wanna cut further.

I mention somewhere in one of my Chanel’s fragrance review about 3 musk offering from Chanel. 18/1957 and Jersey so I can’t decide what to cut.. right after I put extension review of Musc Nomade. Then I realize I quite like No.18 in the way it merge to skin using “Ambette seed”, Champagne party skin, I may say.

Then I actualize, that.. Jersey even it is musky.. it is not really musk fragrance. It’s green vanilla with Lavender.

If 1957 is epitome of Industrial white musk, No.18 is other hands Human musk with floral tint. It on difference side of spectrum. Jersey, it somewhere in the between, twist and go in other direction.

I gonna kept Jersey in storage now.
Maybe I reunite or maybe I will pass it on.

I appreciate musc nomade as corner stone for my actualization.
But for fragrance itself. Tbh, my thought remains the same.

For another beautiful usage of Ambette seed, you may try no.18 too. For actual 1001 princess interpretation. Try Aerin amber musk, or slightly rougher interpretation “JML Midnight musk & Amber”

lessthanzero

It is a vegetal musk above all else. Ambrette. Angelica. Almond. I can actually see where someone might find this a tiny bit "dirty" - it's NOT. At least, not in a human way. It's earthy, soil-like, but above all, *very pretty*.

Ambrette is such a fabulous material. In Musc Nomade, ambrette is cool, medicinal, and earthy. I also get whiffs of fruit skin, like a blueberry.

Angelica is another wonderful ingredient. As I smell more of the Goutal range, I'd point to that gauzy green Angelica note as one of the cornerstones of the house's DNA.

If I had to describe this perfume, I'd say "Classic Goutal - but with nothing in it!"

Aland2020

I really enjoy this scent as a base to layer with other fragrances where I want the musk to shine through, but on its own this fragrance seems a little unfinished. Like a room with no furniture. The musk is sheer and slightly like salty skin, but not dirty or veering too far into animalic territory. If I had to describe this musk it’s nude or slightly tan, not white and sterile. When I layer this with other scents it breathes life into them, but on its own it’s only a mere shell or ghost of a perfume. This smells like those remnants of fragrance that are left behind after a shower, but without having to actually shower the scent off to get there. And I quite enjoy it but find it lacks the tenacity and honestly, the performance to be a standalone scent on my body chemistry. This is almost what I expected out of those Narciso Rodriguez fragrances everyone talks about that I’m anosmic to.
So far I’ve layered this with Hermes Eau des Merveilles and Cashmere Mist. Can’t wait to try out more combinations. This is also the first fragrance in my collection I’ve been excited to layer with and accepted keeping for the sole purpose of mixing with other scents.

Musc Nomade is a nomade no more, she is here to stay in my wardrobe. Like a white t-shirt or camisole of the fragrance world. Could pair with anything, and is high quality yet basic enough to ensure endless combinations.

ntabassum92

Musc Nomade is a super pleasant close to the skin musk that straddles the line between animalic and clean musk beautifully. It's not a clean white musk, nor is it a scary cumin animalic bomb. It's warm and furry, cozy, a little spicy, a little ambery, smells like the best clean very warm skin, or like the drydown of your favorite vintage perfume. I don't know if I would wear this in heat because as it heats up it becomes more animalic and billowy off your skin, but for fall weather, it's perfectly cuddly and appropriate. I have a splash bottle, which feels like the best way to apply - I can't imagine spraying this on and walking out the door, mostly because it smells like the base of a perfume, but splashing this on after a shower feels so cozy to me. It's very soft, but surrounds you. Don't be scared of this - if you like vintage style perfumes, I'm quite sure you would like this.

Itstartedwithtinkerbell

This is a very “human” smell to me. It straddles a line between clean musk and almost sort of kind of animalic, just in that it has a warmth to it that reads body odor…not “B.O.” in the sense of stinky pits or parts, but rather just the odor of a human body, in a good and comforting way. This smells like what I expected Miller-Harris L’air du Rien to smell like. I don’t find it challenging at all, actually quite simple and pleasant and…..comfortable.

HollywoodNovaBaby

I don’t think there is anything challenging about this. People are over analyzing it. It’s not a ‘skin’ musk, meaning it’s not warm. It’s ambrette which is earthy and ethereal. It radiates nicely while being light.
Reminds me a bit of pimentos, olive-like earthy.

FMilan

Medicinal bitter cold synthetic musk. I feel it with my stomach. The musk here (mostly ambrette, raw ambrette) is hard to endure. Mazzolari Lui has a very similar musk accord, but the patchouli blends in better. Musc Nomade ends up too bitter. It’s not stinky, skanky or fecal, nothing like that. But excessively bitter/medicinal, imo. There’s a huge dose of Iso E Super that gives it a woody-paper like aspect. I’m still on the fence after 4 or 5 years with my bottle. It’s a daring perfume to me. I thought I could tame it over time. Well, I didn’t even understand it yet.

thehanna

Nice fresh laundry dryer scent with out sharpness of philosophy Clean. Slightly powdery, sweet and a touch animalic, like Dzing!, in the opening. Nice safe, easy to wear perfume. natural>

UPDATE: My daughter asked what smells so bad? What is that gross poopsmell? In the opening the animalic smell is a little gluey-pee-ish on me, I guess. Tried again scent just doesn't wear well on me. After it settles a bit has a creamy musk that I really like but not worth waiting to get to it.

lavender_wind.

Smells warm, a bit non-descript, spicy ambery... very much reminds me of Fredrick Malle's Musc Ravageur, which I am just not a fan, kind of sweaty masculine smell, like BO and not the pleasant kind.
Gonna pass it on to a guy friend of mine ;P

Please also note that perfumes are personal... Someone else might find this one a gem :) In general, I prefer crisper, white musk scents. This one seems the opposte.

sarahherbs

This musc is hard to describe because it smells so fuzzy, unique and authentically musky. It is a clean musc but also smells like real skin. I always get compliments when I wear this despite its subtle presence. It’s not oppressive or offensive. On me, it smells like a perfect blend of incense and Castile soap.

angel6

Lovely musk, soft and inviting but not as insipid as some white musks that I smell around. Highly recommended.
12/12/2021
I have a bottle after years wanting to buy it and I'm not in love with it anymore, I think I move on from this kind of musk.

alphairone

Musc Nomade is at first deceptively diaphanous, a discreet complement to the skin, a personal enhancement.

I had nearly forgotten that I was wearing it just an hour or two in on the first day. Then, after a walk in the summer rain, opening returning home and relaxing after the work day, there were these wafts, lactonic, animalic, but also slightly herbal and sweet, hints of angelica root and tonka. Mind you, they are wafts, but they are just so hauntingly beautiful. Subtle transmutations can be detected within these facets, and the somehow, the delineation between me and my bed seemed to disappear, is this my own skin, my body odor (it never smelled this great!), my bed sheets, is there something else in the air? What puzzlement! I think this might be Musc Nomade, its alchemy, both sensual and comforting.

As I nuzzle into my skin eight hours into the wear, there's the tell-tale aroma of ambrette seeds. There it is! Just like the essential oil and absolute I have in my possession. But then there's also dark woods that weren't noticed up until now. The ambient impression, away from the skin, is so different, a different 'vibration', for fear of sounding a bit too cosmic.

I really look forward to experiencing this in different environments, different temperatures and times of the year, because I can tell its fascinatingly mercurial. Mind you, I have a bottle with the older classic Annick Goutal label as pictured that should have never been updated, perhaps from around 2012.
.
Musc Nomade is groovy, man...

cologneblanche

A medicinal ambre the musk. It’s a very dry and almost bitter musk scent. Very ‘there but not there’ kind of synthetic vibes. It’s a wispy scent that works like eccentric molecules. I currently use it to layer and tone down too sweet fragrances.

Angeldaisy

well i have tried this so many times. i have two different bottles now and two different experiences with them.

the 15ml bottle (2018) seems clean and musky, a dash of incense, a faint angelica. no woods particularly. something sweet and clean. I'm thinking baby's head here for some reason.

the 100ml bottle (2012) is full on skanky. there is smoke and civet too. warm skin. incense. woods. labdanum (very background though).
the nozzle actually smells of clean washed saddles.
it somewhat reminds me of less scratchy L'Air de Rien, yet lighter and sweeter. i prefer this to the Miller Harris, which to me, often just smells rather strongly of scalp.

ok, the two bottles smell very similar, but up close, one growls, the other doesn't.

what an odd experience.

love them both. i really enjoy Les Orientalistes collection by Goutal and recommend anyone to try all of them, if you like incense and intrigue. they really are very beautiful (to my nose anyhow). my favourite is Myhrr Ardente ,which actually reminds me of toasting marshmallows beside a camp fire.

1guy1dog3cats

Musc Nomade, like L’Air de Rien, is among the most lived-in scents I’ve ever smelled. There’s a cozy dustiness to it, as though you’re inside an old house that hasn’t been cleaned in a long while. That house isn’t unkempt because it’s vacant or because its residents don’t care. Rather, the inhabitants have grown older, and it’s become more and more difficult to keep everything as immaculate as it once was. Imagine opening some long-shuttered curtains inside, dust dancing in the sunlight that gleams through a window. Each of those motes carries whispers of ambrette, angelica, resin, and wood. You inhale deeply, and your nose tickles from pleasure instead of a sneeze.

This must be what nostalgia smells like.

Andy the Frenchy

kioflare nailed the scent description, so I will not reinvent the wheel here. Aside of musk and ambrette, after 30 min or so, all I'm left with is amber (probably myrrh and vanilla, similar to Ambre Fetiche).

A good scent, even if not groundbreaking, and would choose Ambre Fetiche any day over this one. Also, the poor performance, both in projection and longevity does not convince me in buying a full bottle, but I will enjoy the 15ml mini bottle I have (that is currently dirt cheap online).

Spring/Fall days, unisex leaning a bit feminine, 30+

fabiogaf

I bought the old bottle from 2008, intact smell, from a collector that knows exactly how to preserve his fragrances...

Well, I struggled with this one, when you first spray there's a woodiness, whiskey feeling in the air, then, with some hours I will tell you exactly how it smells: A bathroom after a hot shower, that's the feeling, extremely humanly, it's like wearing a person, the skin feeling is 100% real, it's not a fragrance for everyone, I don't think it's even a tiny bit masculine, to me this is for women, especially mature woman, it reminds me of old things, and fall, winter.

What bothered me the most was the stuffy sensation that this perfume causes, it's hot and warm but it's not light even if it seems, because lightness reminds me of clean, and this one is dirty, not versatile, if you are a little bit sweat it will smell horrible.

It's very contradictory and it does not worth the price to me, when I buy a perfume I have to love wearing, with this one in some moments I loved it for a second, some moments I felt desperate like I was inside an old bathroom, trapped in memories from the past, and it's very strange to me, it's raw, very raw and I felt shy to wear it in public. This fragrance tells you a story, it's deep but this depth can be scary too...

I had to send it back because I can't imagine myself wearing but I understood the concept, it's extremely well done but it's not for me.

ThePaleHorse

Just received an almost full bottle in a scent swap on here. This was my signature for at least a year about 10 years ago after buying a bottle in Paris @ AG.
There’s something so sexy and exquisite about this musk. It feels quintessentially French, earthy and reassuring. I never thought it was a weak fragrance, just a personal one. I just doused myself and I am in paradise. Perfect for any soft butch.

VampsandTramps

Quite simply a perfect musk, with powdery and smoky facets. Beautifully balanced, and it’s both comforting and cerebral.

A few reviews mention saunas or hot stones in relation to this fragrance. I totally get that! I’d take it further and say this could be the smell of a purifying ritual performed by nomads in any given century. The description from Fragrantica says it was inspired by the scents of Quatrain princesses who use musk and rose essence to scent their bodies and hair. Well, two problems with that. I don’t know what Quatrain refers to (do they mean Qatari?) and there’s no rose here, thankfully. I do like the visual of “aromatic agar wood smoke from the princesses’ chambers” though. That captures the duality of powder/smoke, that allows this fragrance to occupy a space between clean and dirty, without being soapy or animalic.

Light projection, medium to high longetivity. Ubiquitously marketed towards men online, but leans more feminine imo. I have the largest size. Maybe I’ll get the lotion too!

kioflare

Musc Nomade by Annick Goutal is a perfume of contradiction.

Well, first of all, you are greeted with a blast of alcohol. Lovely.

After that dies down, it smells ever so slightly dirty, a bit earthy and animalic in the beginning, and yet still quite soapy. Later - soft, milky, nutty. Ambery lactonic sweetness. Of course, lots of musk, which dominates the later stages and is quite a clean one in itself.

It smells strangely vintage, like it was created for different, less complicated times.

I'm sure there are a lot of people, who will just smell a bar of soap. That is one of the ways to describe it. Personally, the soap aspect is somewhat repulsive, but one can look through that. I missed the angelica note when I first tried it, now I feel I can sense a bit of greenery, but it feels a little weird with the sweetness.

I don't really even know if I like it. It's a strange one, it feels 'old' in a way, but it might grow.

Edit: Nevermind, I love it now ;)

ElliCoco

Wow. But so faint. A glimpse of paradise.

Cherry_Darling

I would really like this earthy woody balsamic gourmand concoction if only it had more projection! Agreed that it's a press your nose to your skin kind of smell.

adrienn99

nice, civilised slightly soapy musk with some added ambery sweetness that makes it a bit more interesting than musk alone would. My only problem is that it's so quiet that need to put the nose very close to be able to smell it. Guess that could be a good thing too, as that makes it more wearable and safe.

Jitterbug

This is what angels smell like after sex...

pauroj

i was very curious about this perfume because i love musc , but this is not my kind of musc , is good but it is too sweet , i like musk that is almost stringent clean , like soapy clean

it is very nice although very faint

Bubbles1964

First and foremost this is a musk forward scent. Other notes, angelica, amber accord, tonka and woods are there but not detectable on their own. If you love musk, then this a must for your collection. Longevity is good, projection stays close.

Edit: Currently testing a 15ml splash bottle, and I'm going to part ways with it. There's just too much of an animalic scent for me to get past.

Pianomelody

WOW!! This is an angelic fragrance, delicate and pure. It evokes something I had never heard, innocent perfume of other worlds. The white musk is divine and is always present in the background.... it is wonderful, and for me is a masterpiece by Annick Goutal. Thanks for this!

I just received a 15ml bottle as a blind buy. So from the outset I'm getting a quite screechy soapy smell. Like industrial washing up liquid. What is that and why do you all asmell beauty?! I want to smell it! It's dying down half an hour later and becoming creamier but I think maybe I'm one of those people who can't smell musk properly. It's even hard to detect now. I will persevere!

Ah half a day in and I think I understand!!! To me it's quite classic chypre though loving how it's blooming in the sun.

Douceamere

Beautiful musk that is both clean and warm. I suspect it might have been reformulated, as the current version is slightly cleaner (it is much less ambered and rooty) and slightly fruitier than before. It is still really lovely though, with an incredible longevity on me of almost 24 hours, even after a shower.

Annick Goutal has an exquisite taste for great names - Duel, Mandragore, Sables. Musc Nomade is no different. It is an excellent name for a fragrance.
The problem with the great name is that it raises expectations which the fragrance is required to meet. While i managed to get over the soft and quiet duel that is Duel, I have difficulties pinpointing what exactly makes this Musc Nomadic.
I would expect from such a name a potent wild, animalic, barbaric fragrance that will easily gallop over my other musk fragrances.

It turns out MN is a soft clean fruity ambery musk that even fails to escape musk's basenotes only doom. Of course it's nice - AG fragrances are. But this massive dissonance between name and fragrance is very, very disappointing.

LuScentinTenebris

After reading so many reviews describing this as a fluffy, sweet musk, I feel compelled to say that it may be these things, but moreover it is woody as all get-out. It smells like entering a clean, hot wood sauna or a pinewood ski lodge. All of this is pleasant if that's what you're after, and sometimes it's EXACTLY what I'm after, but to me it's absolutely not the creamy rosy fresh-scrubbed musk I hear described in so many reviews. It's a sauna in an old ski cabin deep in a pine forest, aka wood served with a side of woody wood.

Mrs. Do Son

Soft, sweet, and subtle perfumes are my favorite kind of perfumes because I mostly only wear fragrances to sleep. This is really beautiful. It captures the wispy yet intense sweetness of taking a tiny puff of fruity cotton candy and placing it on the tip of your tounge. As the sugar melts you can feel the dopamine releasing in your brain like Pop, pop, Pop!

This perfume is delicate and innocent. I could wrap my infant daughter in a blanket spritzed with this and she would smell lovely: capturing her innocence, her sweetness, her perfection. I'm a big fan!

hafidzummc

nutty sweet soft... the rosewood here is superb. nice combination with the musk. i agree with most ppl here that the musk is not animalic. its rather soft. this really reminds me of a discontinued gem from crabtree and evelyn called nomad, both are clean musk.

despite the softness, i received a compliment from a collegue today saying that its too strong. when me myself couldnt really smell it. i guess its true that women are able to smell musk better than men. oh well... its still a 10/10 in my book. a really underrated gem.

whitewitch

This musk is far too sweet and amber-heavy for my taste, which is a shame given that it's been heavily recommended for discerning musk-o-philes. To my nose, it lacks depth and has a fairly linear progression from intensely sweet to softly sweet with a slightly sickly spike of amber that lingers on my skin. Just a flirtation of musk. Nothing carnal, which is what I love in a good musk. YMMV.

lighter version of Ambre Fetiche; goes on amber and musk; lovely but doesn't last; close to skin and natural

hafidzummc

elegant and minimalist, yet very much present. the most beautiful musk in a fragrance in my opinion....

polly golightly

Love it;-)

The name is a bit misleading; it's not wild, raw-smelling musk, but rather a delicate, sweet white musk that' easy to wear and has great longevity. I put it on yesterday at 4:00 PM and could still catch whiffs of its beauty this morning at 8:00 AM. Really lovely and wearable anywhere. Moderate silage so you won't drive your co-workers mad.

Emma0714

Super soft, close-to-the-skin scented musk. This is not powdery or floral though, it's more dusty and woody. A bit melancholic in a way, reminds me of times that has been. It smells ancient and old in the most beautiful kind of way.

Imagine going through a chest in an old house. Turning yellowed pages in a photo album with black and white pictures of sinister looking people. In the bottom of the chest lies your old lovers woolen wintercoat. You bury your face in it.

All this whilst a piano is playing Moonlight Sonata in the background, lol.

Rode

Very elegant and soft, almost esoteric. It has a gentle clean vibe, yet not overly clean, more like washed skin exposed to sunlight, wearing yesterdays white linnen shirt. So it's quite sensual, it gives a very close-to-skin feeling. It appears to not last long as the musk comes from the Abelmoschus moschatus (or the ambrette seed) which is quite a large molecule and therefor one can be anosmic to it. However, all the sudden, at the end of the day, one gets a big whiff of this perfume, unexpectedly, and it smells so incredible, so sensual. Therefor the 'nomade' element in this Musk would not refer to the smell of an actual unwashed Nomade, but the fact that the Musk itself appears to come and go, and to travel wherever its headed for.

lizziekayy

Musc Nomade is subtle but long lasting. Pleasant and comforting. Also quite sexy. I know the musk ingredients are artificial and we should be thankful that the industry no longer assaults the anal glands of poor deer. For synthetic ingredients this perfume has a life about that feels organic and responsive. Retail price is very silly but there are lots of the 15 ml bottles around at reasonable prices.

spinderella

Very soft musc-fragrance. One to wear for ones own enjoyment. I bought the tiny 15ml bottle and the bodycream, and layering increases the staying power dramatically. I wonder if the bodycream would also be a nice base for Habanita l'esprit by Molinard. That one is a bit too sharp for me on its own.
But back to Musc Nomade: lovely comforting scent. Bought a second bottle already....

enola

I love musk but this one is too earthy, too dusty, somehow "old" to be pleasant. It's like smelling the scent it should be, but covered in dust. Makes me feel like I'm watching my grandma's youth pictures with foggy glasses.

AveParfum

Musc Nomade is a delicate, quiet, earthy musk. Kind of reminds me of being alone in the wilderness at twilight, when a bit of night fog is still swirling around in the air.

The big word with this perfume is SUBTLETY. There are many notes, but they are so subtle it took a long time and many tests to figure out exactly what I am smelling and when. It has odd top notes, an unlikely combo of something waxy vegetal blended with a hint of leather. I get the same impression every time I wear it. This combo soon wears away completely. A slightly powdered musk appears, but mostly I notice a lot of amber and woods, more so than musk. There is also a vanillic note, which adds a little something sweet. In the drydown I smell something a bit like dried herbs, which luckily aren't tangy.

Definitely an interesting musk, but this would not be a great choice if you are looking for a sillage bomb because, again, it's very subtle.

goldiloks

Dusty, powdery, woodsy, incense. I detect no musk or sweetness. Not at all what I was expecting, so I can only assume it doesn't work with my skin or I cannot detect certain ingredients. The dustiness is irritating to my nose. Try before you buy, folks.

I have small bottle up for swap - PM me if interested!

FarStar

At first there is a rush of alcohol, not a good start I must say. After a few minutes, alcohol disappears and a synthetic harsh unpleasant smoky plastic kind of odor comes across and takes over the whole thing, it's rather strong and doesn't let me recognize much more. After about an hour this bad odor almost goes away and I get a very faint but pleasant musky scent.

Usually I'm really fond of musk, but this is not it for me. What's going on?! I'm utterly confused!

As I have searched a bit, many people have the same problem with this perfume, specially at the beggining. Apparently many are anosmic to the synthetic musk in it, among many other musk perfumes out there, in my case I think I'm hypernosmic to some of the main notes as well, since I usually get other non-listed unpleasant odors from a great deal of mainstream perfumes. But I hope with this perfume it changes with time.

I guess that's the problem with these modern synthetic musky stuff. But I did expect a higher quality perfume from such prestigious house.
Anyhow, testing before buying is strongly advised.

Planet_X

Herbal-aromatic lingering incensy musk. It has slightly tart, lemony-sweet top layer, like happens when resin mixed with angelica seeds, subtle, but pleasant, also that papyrus-woody note is very distinctive on my skin, like in Fancy Nights of JS. The fragrance sits close to skin, but so all white musks, they rather your own skin scents, not for projection in radius of ten miles, but for own enjoyment and peacefulness. I wonder if the name Nomade means “wandering musk”, because in many angelica-centred fragrances the qualities and layers are wandering all over the place, like nomads, but I give thumbs up, because I get the feeling of relaxation, peaceful feeling, very centred and positive.

Agneshj

Such a gentle comforting breath of a fragrance! Like the person stirring beside you in bed in the early morning, or a ray of sun trough a silent room when you´re lost in thought. It´s gone just as fast as that. But beautiful while it lasted.

Walking Unicorn

In Musc Nomade I get a light veil of clean, sweet musk and wood with a super subtle nutty undertone. This is not an earth shattering fragrance, but it's a light and stays close to your skin. It's an unobtrusive scent that's comforting and pleasurable. A very nicely done musk.

Wysteria

Just got a really cute 15 ml bottle of this. It was a blindbuy and I couldn't be more pleased.

It's a very natural earthy, musky, incense fragrance with a little bit of sweetness (the amber probably). It stays close to the skin but is noticeable and very pleasant. It's a very interesting fragrance because it's almost like it's alive on my skin and as it dances around I get a little different note each time I smell it. Sometimes it's more earth and other times more smoky or musky.

When I have used this little bottle to the last drop (of which I'm sure I will ) I'm definitely going to buy myself a large bottle!

Hayley_6

There is never an inappropriate time for Musc nomade it is always right, easy and uncomplicated, it suits all seasons. It is a pleasure to wear and a you but better fragrance. I adore it obviously.

Black Arts Lab

If Laphroaig Single Malt peated Whisky, which is said to smell like hospital bandages from a burn victim, created an Eau de Parfum, this is what it would smell like. My new signature scent. I LOVE IT!

Ditta70

I am struggling with this one. When I smelled it for the first time, I could smell nothing at all in the first 20 minutes. Then a very soft musk came across, only perceptible when I put my nose right to my skin.

Then I got my own bottle in the post, and it smelled really strong, two sprays lasted all day, but alas, the fragrance itself wasn't that impressing. I could smell a woody amber thingy with some fruitiness going on, blackberry, maybe, which is strange cause MN was recommended to my by a friend whose taste I completely trust in all things smelly, and he called it a masterpiece.

I am wearing it for the third time today, 5 sprays already (!) but again, I can barely smell a thing.

So...if you are anosmic to some musks in general (which I never thought I am, but it seems that is the case) it may not be for you. I wonder if the complaints about weak sillage and longevity are due to the fact that most people are anosmic to some type of musk molecules, cause on the second day of wearing, when I could actually smell (some of) it, the scent was very strong and lasted all day and into the night. But again today it is zero. It is a good idea to try it before buying and see whether you can smell it.

Jola 72

I was lucky one to find AG MN eau de parfum in small 15 ml edt.I ordered 3 bottles of them, just in case... Very Human Perfume,I mean ,natural ,does not dissagreed with my body chemistry and radiates natural energy . It is just better me,in smell ,I mean..Hehe

I tried to put some drops of perfume into my body lotion and the result was amazing ...Love

Amour, Michele

"Vegetal musk" it is, indeed. The opening is a little herbal, a bit of angelica, a bit of non-sweet amber. For me, there are two distinctively separate stages to this scent (with a strage overlapping bit in the middle), and it's the latter part I love. The middle part is a little strange but still addictive. The herbal and cozy mixes to crate a strangely shiny smooth impression that's a bit... plasticky? But it's not bad, at all! The second part is all cozy, warm, comfortably sexy and skin-like. Absolutely beautiful! I got the body cream as well and that goes straight to the second part from the get-go! :-) Love this.

kateapple

This perfume is poetry. It is soft, gentle, and elegant. The musk is sweet and enveloping, but not intrusive. It's warm, familiar, and comforting. It's an elusive scent, ever-present but secretive. It's a friend, an embrace, a subtle melody. Absolutely stunning.

miss mills

I blind bought a tiny bottle of this and it just arrived, oh the joy! It is a simply lovely musk, soft, powdery, walking in an Elizabethan garden, that's the vibe I get from this. It's light and delicate on me in the dry down phase, a good thing as the opening blast was somewhere between pure astringent alcohol and Tabu on me but that disappeared very quickly and it settled into a delicately skin scented light musk with floral undertones, almost a hint of a Victorian violet vibe here, even though flowers are not listed. Just lovely.

secamel

This one smells like the person who sleeps next to you. Sometimes nice, sometimes different, but always lovely and just human. My favorite clean musc.

bapita

I wish I could say it smells like cat piss, because then I would at least be able to pinpoint why it is so revolting. Associations such as sweat and spices come to mind, too, but again - my sweat smells much nicer than this, if I may say so myself. However, I don't have a very refined nose at all, and I am by no means excluding that it might, could, or does smell great on you. It doesn't on my paper strip though, and I'm not reckless enough to let it get near my skin, lest it'll turn me into the salty zombie it evokes.

LetThereBeMe

I was hoping for more from this scent based on what other members here have experienced.

On my skin, I dont get any herbal or bitter sweet nuances. From first application Musc Nomade is a soft, cozy, slightly sweet, skin scent without any projection. Its warm and pleasant yet very light.

There are others to be had, with the same qualitiies for half the price.

deadidol

As a semi-sweet booze and currant scent with Ribena aspirations, Musc Nomade starts big and almost gourmand before settling into low-level powdery hum of a musk that desiccates over time. Once it’s calmed down, a cushion-like effect takes over and the scent feels like the olfactory equivalent of an alpaca blanket. It’s soft and quite powdery but with enough berry leaf remaining to anchor it as interesting. But as a musk fragrance, it’s PG-rated — disappointingly so.

georgettekaba

Very pleasant scent, my favorite for wintertime, its like a warm coat you put on, and feel just all well afterwards!

Lacrimosa

❀ Musc nomade is a gorgeous transparent, almost crystal clear scent!
It is herbal, dry & almost bitter.
Its wonderful notes work perfectly when being layered with floral perfumes adding a touch of powder.
If you are looking for a musky perfume quite different from any other in the market, this is for you!

John Mason

This is a very special musk concoction.
It's not a clean musk one would perhaps expect, but it doesn't fall into the dirty animalic musk either. It's balanced somewhere in between.
When your loved one wakes up earlier than you in the morning and leaves into the bathroom, when you roll on their side of the bed, the sheets are little worn in, slept in, slightly damp and warm. That's the kind of musk this perfume has.
It somehow stays close to the skin, it embraces you like a spectral figure with angelic wings. It's soft, powdery and slightly woody.
Very pleasant and almost with human-like attributes.
Simply beautiful.

courant

I've been on a Goutal kick. Over eighteen months I've collected some that I had sampled and some bought blind. I first bought the Musc Nomade Body Cream when my skin was very dry and the cream was online discounted. I figured I couldn't go wrong, soothe the skin and smell good too, a bit of musk, sure to fade quickly, no problem. The jaded perfume critic fell in love. I use it on my neck, shoulders, décolletage and on dry elbows. I simply had to have the perfume too, but I was wary, I've got a lot of perfume, so I only bought a 15ml tester. I will be buying a full bottle, it's right up there in my constant favourites. Elena from Perfume Shrine comments on the quality of Musc Nomade, the expensive Muscone, the beautiful balance of a touch of rose, ambrette seed, the milkiness that others have noted. Simply divine for musk lovers. It's quite close to Narciso R Musc Intense EDP but a touch more animalic. It's quite similar to Khiels but with rose petal softness. To me it smells of something that money just can't buy, understated good taste and it's the favourite AG of Isabelle Doyen according to an interview I saw. This is an expensive mistake if your olfactory system doesn't register that large muscone molecule so perhaps excercise some caution.

sleepy*weasel

Soft, soft powdery woody/nutty/incense and Tonka bean, this is probably the least liked of Les Orientalistes, but I bought a small bottle because it's utterly unique. Not as medicinal as Myrrhe Ardente and no sharp, dry tang like Encens Flamboyant - but layering this with a rose or heavy floral would be tremendous. Try it before buying! My nose finds it comforting and calming, a soothing musk with no corners, it makes no demands. Musk fans may like, but if you want bite, this is not for you. This is a creamy-brown pillow of a scent.

pravda48

Opens with an odd, cool play-doh vibe from the type of amber, I believe, then becomes musk dominant in the first minute as it sits on my skin. 30 mins later it's an odd juxtaposition of cool & warm notes: 2 different musks and reedy dry papyrus tones + that oddly playdoh-like amber w/ a touch of labdanum. Beneath this (& when I inhale deeply to analyze the notes) there is something akin to moss or mold, something just the tiniest bit damp and dark and green. There is a noticeable palisander rosewood note which I only recognize because I disliked the intensity of it in Cavalli's 'Just' a few months back... kind of have a bad memory with that still but I'm trying to view this as a whole instead of focusing on that one woody note that assaulted my nose once upon a time.

I like it for it's unusual composition but I'm a bit afraid to wear it at a passer-by smellable level in public at this point ;) I'd also like to see more of the 'fizzy' facet of amber, labdanum, or ambrette amped up in this vs the play-doh borderline powdery facets of the 1st two.

RE other comments:
++Thumps up: 'old fashioned ointment' vibe: I agree completely. The labdanum/amber are very vintage.
--Thumbs down: cat piss: I get none of that

Reminds me of: not much else... specific notes are akin to other scents but that's about it

Compliments?: none so far

Sillage: soft-mod
Longevity: 4/5 hrs, but very close to skin most of the time
Experience: worn 3 times (FB)
Usually apply: 3-4 sprays

As usual, I love Annick Goutal but they are a hit or miss for me. Unfortunately Musc Nomande is a big miss.
Basically it opens up with muddled fruit notes--maybe some sort of red berry/pomergrante, fruits that are past their expiration date. Then a strong ointment/medicinal accord comes out, it hangs on for a LONG time, it's kind of sickening. The musk drydown in inoffensive but rather boring, just a regular nondescript musk. I really get none of the amber, rosewood, labdanum, or almonds, which is what I was hoping for. Too bad, different chemistries, different results.

MUSK!!
I love the sweet/sweaty/powdery/fatty smell of dirty musk. My favorite. I have as yet to meet a dirty musk that I don't like.
Musc Nomade is unique for the vegetal qualities lent by ambrette, angelica & Bombay wood. Somehow that contrast makes it even dirtier.
I appreciate that the modest sillage allows me to wear it out and about.
Powdery and slightly herbal/green-ish. I get a slight smell of aloe? Fresh aloe. Not body lotion aloe.
Weird confession: I like to apply this to the back of my boyfriend's neck / spine before bed so I can fall asleep smelling it. I am the man spoon. He absolutely hates the stuff but he obliges me because he can't smell it back there. Thanks, boyfriend!

julieekerr

purchased 15ml sample bottle. wish I hadn't. get what people say about the cat pee likeness. on initial spray smelt like nail varnish remover. that was replaced by the angelica cat pee. really not my thing. keep going back to it hoping it might change. after a while ok - reminded me of old fashioned ointment: really not for me, anyone want to swap???

chittylafemme

Really like it, but the sillage is way too soft. Would be a good perfume for sex.

rue_de_la_roux

This is quite beautiful. Cozy. It smells soft and flowing, slightly floral, obviously musk-but a clean musk, does not smell dirty to me. All that with a hint of baby aspirin, that orangy-powdery scent. It smells edible, well, chewable.

I think Musc Normande would work on anyone, and it would be very suitable or a young girl's first scent. Heck, I'm well past young girl status and I wear this and it makes me feel great.

paranoidandroid

This is a subtle fragrance that is mysterious despite its simplicity. The collection of musks and musky smells is vegetal & green. Not green- like galbanum green - but more like freshly snapped young green beans and sweet juicy pear. I am guessing this is some combination of the ambrette and angelica doing their work.

Beneath it all is a cypriol/nagarmotha note- which is referred to here as papyrus. You might also know this note as one of the main components of what passes off for a modern oud accord in western perfumery.

Lurking further beneath are subtle almond/vanilla notes with hints of a fresh rose.

All in all, this fragrance is a study in subtlety and exceptional materials. It has a family resemblance to a gentler/kinder (dare I say, more feminine) version of Malle's French Lover (anglelica, oud, musk without the nose-piercing intensity of the woody-amber note in that one) or an "oud" inflected version of Chanel's No.18 (ambrette, cumin, rose, iris - without the fruitiness).

Like both those fragrances I love this one deeply.

PS. I can swear there is something rosy/slightly-floral here though it is not mentioned in the pryamid.

cytherian

I just got a sample of this and have to say it's a delightful fragrance. A semi-sweet luscious musk, amber and wood aroma. The tonka note reacts with other notes to simulate a kind of blackberry essence. This reminds me of something Frederic Malle would create. Very unisex.

Longevity seems a bit lacking. But for half the price of a Frederic Malle fragrance (also known for fleeting longevity), I am seriously considering a bottle.

Oddly, it seems this fragrance is very reactive to skin chemistry. Reading the reviews I see a strong polarization. So definitely do not blind buy this.

Labaloo

I have to say that so many of the reviews here have made me chuckle to myself- so entertaining! And I'm feeling grateful beyond words that I can still smell this fragrance on myself the day after...

naapio

I loved Encens Flamboyant (ordered it after one good sniff) and would love to get my nose on some Myrrh Ardente so I was fairly sure Musc Nomade would be at least interesting. I dabbed it on my skin quite liberally from the little sample vial and.....couldn't get it off fast enough! A horrible, revolting scent of death and greasy skin. It reminds me of sickly unwashed people in retirement homes, the embalmed and waxy body on Ho Chi Minh and the gray skin that rolls off after a long steamy bath or sauna. The common thread here: death and decay.

I have tried washing it off with several soaps and detergents and it's becoming evident that it is not budging. Maybe if I'm willing to saw my hads off?

Allinug

Sorry I wasn't logged in when I thought so. The review belovw which says the same as this one is mine also.

Got this one today and I don't like it. It's a smell of something strange and musk, not good at all.

Well me and my blind buys...sometimes good and sometimes NOT. I don't know what it is but this perfume makes me feel uncomfortable...it's creepy.

Sorry you who loves it but I must go and wash it off.

My advise...try before you buy, DON'T blind buy like me.

Update!
I forgot, I smell alcohol when I smell the bottle, like something you should drink...no it's not pleasent at all.

christianne1

This is a 5 star musk fragrance. I don't really know any other way to put it. It is absolute perfection - for a straight forward musk that is slightly more on the dirty side than typical white but still remains clean. If you like white musk, this may frighten you a tad so PLEASE do not see the "white musk" part and think this is going to smell like Musc Bleu or Clair de Musc or anything like that or you will be disappointed. This has an amber and woody base that "dirties" it up a tad.

It isn't a monster by any means, it isn't on the order of Muscs Koublai Khan or anything like that...but it is probably slightly too animalic for some people. It is much less sweaty beast and is a safer bet for most but maybe a little too much for others. Musc Nomade starts out nice and stays nice but you still get a full on musk fix without it being TOO dirty or powdery. There is no hiding in the house for an hour until you stop reeking and start smelling amazing thing going on. You can put it on and head out and wild animals will not start head butting your car or anything. And nobody will think you haven't bathed in a week.

If you are looking for a PERFECT (but slightly more dirty than soapy white) musk that still remains rather soft, fresh and clean...look no further. Because for this style of musk, it simply does not get much better. But you do need to reapply it or spray your clothes and hair to get any staying power of it.

(Note: AG only highlights "synthetic" (musk) to let people know that animals were not killed or tortured to create this fragrance. Synthetic musk is pretty standard in all fragrances now and has been for quite some time.)

Jose Marcos

I just don't know what to think but suddenly Musc Nomade became very strong and very pleasant to smell. At first i couldn't smell anything and now it seems that I want to wear it at all times. All my scents are kept in a closed and light protected cabinet but when I open it MN is all I can smell mysteriously and it is not a shy or weak "personality", it is a very hungry beast. I love it.

Cold weather is not the best of times to try a new scent.

jamjazz

very wearable, very easy fragrance, which is nice any season you want to wear it! soft, very musky, and tender with some milky notes, it is a bit pricey for what it offers, but lovely.

Jose Marcos

Musc Nomade was a blind buy and at first application I couldn't even smell alchool, nothing at all. But one must think no producer would make something out of just water, and like some have said, not everybody smell the musc molecule the same way. So, I tried it for a few days at home nd after a while I could smell something very clean and suave, soft but persistent. Musc Nomade gives off a certain clean atmosphere without smelling of something in particular. Is that the invisible musc? This sense of smell stays around for about 5 to 8 hours, and it is comforting to get winffs of MN now and then.

So, I started to wear it with association with other clean scents, in special Prada pour Homme, which smells the same with a extra powdery facet. Note that I apply them on different areas so not to overlap. and sometimes I think all I smell is Musc Nomade, with Prada slumbering in the back ground.

Well, as said before, it is not the most exciting ilfacotory experience, but i am trying to make the most of it. Is it whorth? I am afraid not.

gmstrack

This is a sad, sad day. After a long day at work, I arrived at home to find a delivered package containing Musc Nomade and Ambre Fetiche. With a wagging tail I tore open the package and eagerly applied Musc Nomade to my wrist and started huffing away. Snort. Snort. WTF? Snort. Oh no. I am not able to smell parts of this composition. The musc note is incredibly faint and I think I’m detecting ambrette, but otherwise only pale amber with a touch of chicken soup fades in and out. As such, I will refrain from rating Musc Nomade because, sob, I just can’t smell it! Take my advice: do not blind buy Musc Nomade!!!!

Next day edit: OK, this is completely perplexing, but now I think I can smell the composition. The musc is almost a texture, not a discernable note. I’m finding the MN experience very subtle and almost spooky. It’s like the ghost of someone’s flesh lingers in the air, but it is difficult to really describe what that flesh smells like; it’s sort of like a faded memory that keeps snuggling with you. This is hands down the creepiest review I’ve written and I’m going to stop typing now.

Two days later: Yes, I can definately smell blackberry-musc accord, but the problem is that I need to dump half the bottle on my head to detect the whole composition.

Final verdict: MN is a unique, comforting musc with an almost haunting beauty. It is, however, wimpy beyond belief.

puddley

The magician produces his beautiful assistant, glittering and radiant, he draws her close to him, shrouds her in his cloak, then poof! She's gone..
A musk is a little like the assistant, a moment of utter wonder that shows us her beauty and then vanishes into the air.

As with most high quality musk scents, they are subtle and fleeting, in fact some of us cannot detect their grace and presence at all, something scientific to do with large molecules that betray our noses. However, Annick Goutal has offered us a musk of greatness, that although similarly fleeting, gives us a little more molecule to hang on to.
To do this, there is an inclusion of dense woody and resinous notes. Rosewood and Papyrus imbue a deep, smoked wood quality with suggestions of dry incense. Perhaps this is where the 'nomade' element lies, alike campfires in the desert. Labdanum brings an element of softness, a creamy quality to compliment the dry wood smoke. These additional woody notes add a gravitas and staying power to the delicate and elusive musk.
I am eager to try this on a warm day as I feel that in winter it is very much a 'skin scent' that does not project into the air around us. I imagine that with heat and humidity this extraordinary scent will radiate a profoundly sexy aura of musky humanity and a sense of the exoticness of the Orient.

Eos

My worst blind buy. I do not get Musc Nomade at all. To my nose this is a bizarrely oily scent not unlike old fryer grease. There is a slight salty nuance, but mostly it is an herbal, smokey, bitter scent. I smell nothing sweet, no rich labdanum, almond, or tonka either. The only woody notes are burnt. Nothing mysterious, just unpleasant and unwearable on my skin.

alepoz84

Immortale semplicemente magnifica fragranza peccato che duri poco nell'arco della giornata.....io l'adoro!!!!!!

FoxyVixen

It smells warm and cozy. Perfect smell when you feel a little cold. It's a comforting smell. The musk is simply amazing. I really love it, but I would've prefer that the scent last longer though..

fanny

Instant love, but also instant regret..
Musc Nomade could be my everlasting new companion, if only it lasted...

Absolutely gorgeous though

ION

There is an immediate simplicity in "Musc Nomade" (which is also very unpretentious and cute) that makes me like it immensely.
Nothing more to say, this is a rather linear smell (not as linear as Body Shop's "White Musc") but never boring. At the drydown it becomes (at least on my skin) a bit like "Egoiste" at its drydown but similarities start and stop here.
I wore it today in Athens where temperature was high and it worked fine. It won't make you feel cooler (for this effect Kenzo Homme & Oceanic from The Body Shop are the answer) but you get the picture.
Nice work!

johngreenink

Musc Nomade presented an interesting wearing experience for me. This perfume is, in my opinion, very different from many other Annick Goutal fragrances in that it defies a traditional open/middle/bass sequence. The first blast of Musc Nomade is bright, fruity, rosy. A lot of notes rise from the skin, things like pomegranate, blood orange, figs, grape leaves. The musk is bold and only slightly creamy the way many other musks are. To my surprise, the musk becomes stronger very rapidly (within 30 seconds on me) and it's a very animalic and slightly bitter musk. As a point of contrast, I thought of Kiehl's Original Musk, which is far creamier and sweeter. Annick Goutal's Musk in Musc Nomade has an almost acrid quality which reminded me of turmeric and hiacynth which was just about over-ripe.

My first try with Musc Nomade wasn't a success. It was too harsh for my skin and too linear. It didn't change much from the moment I put it on. At some stages it seemed to have disappeared, a moment later it was loud and bold. Something wasn't right.

I gave it another try a few days later, and my experience was very different. It was a much warmer day, about 20 degrees warmer. I sprayed it on early in the morning... there was something about the way the scent reacted with sun and air, and it mellowed into a far more gentle and mysterious creation than my first wearing. A few sprays and settings later and I figured it out: This is most definitely a warm-weather scent, best worn in the morning or daytime. Completely unlike Amber Fetiche, this Orientalist is a creature of sunrise. For some reason, I'd thought that musk scents were primarily for the cold months and for evening, but not in this case. As I was driving in my car with the windows down and air pouring in, and sun on my skin, the scent was fascinating. Suddenly there were grapes and peaches and vanilla, gentle oud and potpouri roses, and a salmon-colored musk so different from the golden-hued honey-type musks I've been used to before.

Musc Nomade has been a great fragrance 'event' for me because it's one of the few fragrances I've owned that really needs to be applied only at certain times. I have so far gravitated to over-all perfumes that can be (pretty much) worn at any time without worry. I've since learned that this isn't the case with them all, nor is it necessarily a great asset if a perfume can be worn all the time. Certain scents are going to show their finest elements in certain light and temperature, and Musc Nomade is clearly one of them.

While I find the other three 'Les Orientalistes' quite potent, evocative, smouldering, heady- like richly-embroidered brocades, this one contrasts by being- overall- light, airy, and clinging close to the skin like a fine undergarment of organza. If 'Ambre Fetiche' represents "gold", for sure 'Musc Nomade' represents a secret gift of silver- or perhaps the light of The Star itself to guide the three travelers to their destination.

I sometimes use it for layering underneath the other three; it adds a lovely, filigree'd richness and depth- and extends longevity for all involved, but most-often I wear it alone: it reminds me of some kinds of incense I've smelt burning, quiet from a corner of an empty head-shop- fruity-woody-musky, brushstrokes of transparent reds, deep browns, silver-grey suspended in the air.

This is probably the fragrance i like the least from Les Orientalistes (line that i LOVE) and also the one that is more distinctive. As i said in Myrrh Ardente this line of perfumes evokes fallen civilizations of ancient times, all adorned with the glory of their history, the exotism of such an ancient time and mythology, etc and they make us imagine a nubian queen sitting on her throne with one of those incese cones they used to use that melted slowly over their hair filling the air with luxurious exotic deep fumes, this Musc Nomad reminds instead the ruins of such civilizations. its cold, it is mineral, instead of the clean aspect of most musks, this one has a dirty touch to my nose, kind of the scent of stones...avobe all, mineral, very mineral.

Maybe that's why i like it the least...it is an interesting fragrance, yes, but it lacks the voluptuosity, sensuality, warmth, exotism, and at the same time mithological, deep ancient touch that the rest of the line has. If Myrrh Ardente, Incense Flamboyant and Ambre Fetiche (my fav) are like traveling in time and visitng Cleopatra in her temple in the warmth of Egypt, covered with jewels, rich ambers and icnenses purifying the place, her magnificent presence distant yet alive...Musc Nomad would be like seeing her statue now in our time....

I always wonder about this one. It’s made with a large serving of muscone, a musk with high molecular weight. Apparently the musks to which people are anosmic are these large ones. What does this smell like to them? To me it’s lovely.

My take on MN is that it has the softness and rounded fruity sweetness of the non-threatening wing of musk fragrances, “white musks, “ but also the complexity over time that the beastier musks have. This is more baby skin than rank armpit. There is a little of the waxy quality common to some musks, but the note that really fixes itself to the sweetness is the booziness. Booze and baby-skin. If that’s not enough complexity, consider therapy.

Once into the basenotes, MN wears close to the skin but also loses some sweetness, becoming a bit woody. MN’s drydown has a long trajectory and traces of woody berry sweetness drift up to your nose 12 hours after applying it. I love that this has the happy-happy angles of the clean musks, but the complexity-without-skank of the heavier musks. I keep wedging MN between the two ends of the musk spectrum that I’m positing, and I shouldn’t. If anything, the center area that MN seems to occupy shows that moderation can be a smart and definitive choice and not just a compromise.

A great scent for SoCal dry summer nights.

Well, this one is smokie, feels like you came in russian sauna: wood, steam, water on a hot coals. You seat there and only one thing you want- to get out of there to breath cold air.

On my skin Musc Nomade startet light, pure, oriental fresh, like something from Etro. And I feel notes of cytrus. Next is more oriental like little Opium , Etra, Yvres. Very elegant and light. Is very interesting scent. Very personal.Very good for woman in spring, summer, fall.

MUSC NOMAD is light and airy fragrance, safe and pleasant. I thought with the name of “Musc Nomade” this will be an exotic fragrance reminding me of a distant mysterious land but it does not invoke many feelings in me as it is barely noticeable on my skin.

The fragrance starts as the super light and almost fleeting incense and amber smoke mixed with the gentle white musk. The scent transforms into woody notes with very light musk. It is linear and rather simple on my skin. My skin normally loves musk but somehow this one is not very noticeable. In fact the whole scent is pretty much skin scent, which my skin seems to hide really well. The sillage and longevity are low. This was a sample only but if I had a bottle I would try layering it with other scents. I think it will work fabulous for layering.

Update : after years of collecting perfume, I do realize that few of my perfume smell almost identical and almost similar to each other, including this. This is the perfume that I mean :
Bvlgari Rose Essentielle
Lanvin Rumeur
Annick Goutal Musc Nomade
Narcisso Rodrigues For Her EDP
Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely

Don't you think they share the almost same smell??? Gosh, I have each of them!!!

Musk is a note that I am unfortunately anosmic to. Every now and then I capture wafts of it, but as soon as it appears, it's gone again.

Musc Nomade, from what I have managed to smell, is a nice blend of musky woods and milk. It's more soothing than anything else. I would probably wear Musc Nomade as a bed-time scent, as it is something that would keep me feeling snuggly and warm.

This fragrance isn't as spicy or as oriental as I expected it to be. Musc Nomade is the tamest of the four in the Les Orientalistes series, yet no less superior.

Clean and pretty, there's a sense of sensuous silkiness that pleases me greatly. For those that hold Narciso Rodriguez in such high esteem, should experience musk at its very best as it is represented in this fragrance.

I want to say animalic musk, however I refrain from doing so, because while it is sexy, it doesn't seem like the perfect remedy to rouse up the beast inside of us. For that fact alone, Musc Nomade is categorised by me as being a clean, white musk with a touch of woods.

However you perceive this fragrance, you are sure to agree that this is a wonderful interpretation of musk, having a wonderful versatility to be worn by both men and women alike.

This is a gorgeous white musk perfume that is delicate yet has a presence for others to enjoy. Its the best white musk Ive ever smelled. It has a slight spice to it that makes it positively sexy. But at the same time this scent is clean smelling. Perfect for everyday, signature material imo.

Average Sillage and Longevity. In my wish list for sure.

I receive a bottle today - which i bought it online from eBay. I bought a 50ml size. It smell wonderful, soft and silky. it stay close to my skin. The opening is fresh floral musky notes. then the i can smell roses plus musk. Not strong, but very nice smell. Great to be wear at cold season. on my skin, it last for 5 hours, but i hope it more intense because it EDP for God sake.
then i realize there is 100ml bottle, and i want to try it too. I dont know the different. Does anybody know?

Good scent. Musk is good here but too weak and for that price you expect more.

All I want for Christmas is more Musc Nomade. It's dry musk, ice cold milk, a little almond, but what works it most of all is Angelica. There's a powdery dry down enlivened with a distinct tang of peach. Bliss. Heaven. This is the fragrance I return to for comfort, I feel like a goddess when I'm wearing this.

tessture

I get mostly wood out of this one. There's hints of tonka and almond and a faint dusting of musk, but overall I get strong wood, like powdered wood incense before it's burned. A lot like Jaisalmer, actually. It might be my chemistry, but there's hardly any musk in this on me. I still like it, but it's a misnomer for sure.

Juliette has a gun

Very wearable, very pleasant, quite nice in winter, because it wrapps the wearer into a soft, warm cloud of well-being.
Some tender musc notes are mingled with lactonic notes chords producing a milky, sweet, dessert-like dry-down. Not cloying or annoying, on the contrary, a lovely musk.
