Sony is running a promotional offer on PlayStation Plus subscriptions that gifts customers a free copy of Star Wars Battlefront Ultimate Edition on PS4.

12-month subscriptions now come with a digital version of DICE's huge-scale FPS. Ultimate Edition contains all four expansions (Outer Rim, Bespin, Death Star and Rogue One: Scarif) along with 24 upgraded Star Cards, 11 new weapons and other minor gubbins.

A year-long PlayStation Plus subscription costs £39.99. Star Wars Battlefront Ultimate Edition for PS4, on the other hand, costs roughly £34.99. Seems like a decent deal, especially when you consider that PS Plus members also receive free access to 24 games a year. This month's free games, for instance, are Life is Strange and Killing Floor 2.

It's worth noting that the offer is only open to non-members. If you already own a subscription, then you're out of luck.

The promotion also says a "restricted number" of copies will be available on a "first come, first served" basis.

We were big fans of Star Wars Battlefront when it deployed AT-AT's to collective oooooooohs back in November 2015.

The series of expansions that followed seemed to keep the interest of the game's audience, but player numbers are now much lower. According to swbstats.com, there are currently 14,108 players on PS4 playing Battlefront, and only 2,479 on PC.

With Battlefront 2 due to arrive in just a few months', it may be worth waiting before popping on that stormtrooper helmet.
