The Assassin’s Creed Ezio Collection isn’t quite the disaster that a recent viral video made it seem. A new video, by SupJamChan, points out that the broken animations in the remastered version of Assassin’s Creed II are caused by a glitch that was also in the original. And that deformed NPC was the product of random generation. Here’s Ubisoft’s statement:

The NPC in question only appears in Sequence 1, Memory 1 in Assassin’s Creed II and is randomly generated, appearing infrequently. The graphics issue does not affect the core gameplay of Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection.

Overall, Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection has been well-received by fans and newcomers to the franchise alike. Here at Ubisoft, we’ve been happy to read all the great feedback from gamers as they’ve stepped back in time to relive the adventures of our beloved Ezio.

When we tested the game ourselves, we saw a different NPC in that scene. The characters don’t look great, but they don’t always look that bad, either.
