Decorator-PVA-plaster dilhemma. Help!!!

Options
I've been reading up about decorating here and the pva debate. Returned home today to see an empty tin of unibond pva in my hall and I think the decorator has used it on my newly plastered wall prior to doing a mist coat. Should I panic? He's the husband of a friend who's done up lots of his own rental properties and is now starting out as a decorator. Awkward position, really, so I'd rather say nothing unless I knew for sure the pva was going to cause problems. Will it be ok or if I do nothing, what could be the consequences? Can anyone advise please?

Why? What will be the problem, please?

We are cross-posting, I think. What I need to be able to do is tell him why there will be a problem and what he should do to get the pva off.

Actually, it's a small tin and a big area, so how would I tell if it had been painted on the wall? Would I be able to see it?

Do not let him put pva on wall. This can cause you all sorts of problems!
Newly plastered walls should be sealed with a watered down non vinyl matt.
He clearly does not know what he is doing, don't trust him!

I'm worried that the pva is already on. How would I tell?

It will leave a shiny film on the surface.

Thanks, doesn't look like any has been painted on. Plus OH opened tin and discovered it was quite old. He had to break a seal to get in so looks like we're saved.
    Thanks.

Oh yes, there is plenty, and I have been in trade for many years as well.

You will be suprised how many posters come here, saying thier plasterer has suggested they PVA the bare plaster. then when it goes wrong, the ask what to do.

There is also a few decorators, sorry, they call themselves decorators, who do it as well.
