Just happened to stumble upon this and thought it looked pretty good value for a 4TB external desktop hard drive. I bought one myself a while ago and paid a fair bit more, if memory serves.

can this be connected up to a TV to watch movies in HD?

This really depends on whether the usb port can supply enough energy, some are fine for flash drives, some are fine for portable drives too. A decent quality cable helps too (ie one that came with your phone or other decent brand portable drive)

Yep. If your telly doesnt give it enough oomph you will need a usb y cable and a wall charger to suplement the power!

This was the best price from a large UK seller I could find when I purchased one yesterday (used Argos eBay and 20% off code, now expired).

If you have a device that can play hd movies from a USB hard drive then yes. The hard drive doesn't play video itself (no HDMI, composite video out etc).

That ad is actually for the 2 TB they did the price range trick for different sizes opting for 5TB in the title.

Thank you.
My dad got a 3tb 2USB one for £80 off Amazon recently but it was faulty so I just organised one of these for him to replace it.
Sod's law it's after the financial year starts :disappointed:

I know it doesn't really help now but stay clear of any Seagrave 3TB drives. You never hear good things about them. Any other capacity is fine in my experience, it's just the 3TB ones seem to have an inherent fault which should have resulted in a recall if Seagate was to do the right thing.

This is an old model (I don't know if that makes it better or worse). The current model had been on Amzon for £89.99 for ages but is currently £91.31
Seagate are kinda unreliable, just beware if you buy one.

For ~£25 more, you can get a 2.5" portable 4TB drive on Amazon.

Surprised this is not hotter, I ordered this and can confirm it is indeed the new version that arrives. This is currently £99.29 on Amazon. This is a great price, you cannot get 4tb anywhere else at this price at the moment. Super Heat
