It's not really a half price deal when the newer 20MP version, the SX410 is only £120.

So pay more for poorer quality; extra mega pixels in the same size sensor to be avoided I think.
To be fair bridge camera do tend to have superior optics to compacts (even ultrazoom compacts) and tend to offer a level of "SLR Style" creative control not offered by compacts
BUT that is where the similarities end ....... most people involved with photography will agree that cramming masses of pixels onto a small sensor simply means less light reaches each photoreceptor ..... the result being poor low light results & high noise even at low ISO.....in fact it has been shown that the some phone cameras perform better in low light than these bridge cameras
You would actually get better image quality from an old Canon 300D with it's 6Mp sensor (with a nice 2nd user 3rd part lens like a sigma) than many of these bridge cameras & you can pick some decent ones in good used condition for virtually pennies
Bridge cameras tend to fit the old expression "Jack of all trades & master of none"
I do have a bridge camera in my collection somewhere.....but prefer my trusty Canon G7 (which cost me less than this in mint condition) over the bridge 99% of the time

Why are people obsessed with megapixels. These bridge cameras still have tiny image sensors that can't capture light fantastically well as it is, then you throw tons of megapixels in and get shoddy performance in anything other than a bright summers day.
This is no doubt a great price but if you enjoy photography and ever try out a friends DSLR you'll have trouble going back to one of these. If it's just for the odd outdoor family picture etc then I imagine it's fine.

But if "it's just for the odd outdoor family picture" why lug a great lump of bridge camera around? A similar amount spent on a good compact would suit far better.
I'm convinced these bridge cameras must sell largely to people who think they're getting a 'bargain DSLR' because it's a similar shape!

"* Please note item 3554993 has previously been on sale at 89.99." And probably will be again!
No viewfinder so a pointless toy anyway.

You can actually pick up the Sony DSC-H300 on a certain auction site new for not much over £100.....I'd still choose that over this Canon

To be fair for this price point there is nothing much, but I'd personally not buy something like this (as I say I'm a huge Canon fan....I own 4).....but buying because of the price when I'm aware of it's failings (especially in low light) mean I'd not buy...simply because I know I'd want to change it in a few months....and as I showed it's a bit cheaper on Amazon

Depends what you want......if you still want a bridge camera
For around £150 I'd choose the SonyDSC-H400 ....only has 720p video but a 20Mp sensor & 63x optical zoom
For £200 I'd choose the DSC-HX30 .....full 1080p HD video & 50x optical zoom
Anyone paying more than £200 I'd say look at going down the full SLR or even CSC route

Four year old tech with basic controls & no optical viewfinder....
Decent inage quality in decent lighting conditions & a nice zoom........but even as a Canon fanboy I'd give this a miss
If you still want one you can pick it up for £98.24 on Amazon
