If you have missed this, and not fussed about it being a chrono, take a look at the Chinese sites on ebay. You will be amazed at what you can buy for under a tenner, sometimes well under a tenner. You have to wait a while to receive, but whose complaining when p/p is free. Idiots say 'Chinese tat', but most of what you buy will be from China if you're spending little money and just want reasonably accurate time.
Some are actually 'really nice'. They are so cheap I wear a different watch virtually every day :laughing:
Regularly get people say, 'wow, like your watch! Where did you get it from?' It's hilarious.
Over here you could pay this for a leather strap ...most of these listed have 'real' leather straps. It's hilarious.

Was going to buy this (also voted hot), until I found this user review at Argos (paragraphs added for better legibility). Possibly won't affect
99% of buyers though...

"This is a nicely styled mans watch with a military/aviator look. It is definitely "man sized" but not gigantic. The finish is good for the price; the hands, numerals and markers have a pale green colour, and the sub-dials are silver with subtle concentric ridges. The hands have an "aviator" style, quite wide and nicely shaped.

There are two mistakes in the description. Firstly the bezel does not rotate (but there is no reason why is should, as it is a tachymeter, not a minute timer as you would get on a divers watch).

Secondly that watch has the date, but not the day. The description also doesn't tell you that two sub-dials show seconds and minutes for the stopwatch function, and the third is a 24 hour display (fixed to the main hour hand: not a GMT/second time zone function).

Also, the crown screws down (a waterproofing feature). Lug width is 22mm, diameter of the dial about 43mm I think. If you like the style and the strap supplied with the watch, there is no reason not to buy it.

But there are two flaws you should be aware of. The first is that the large second had on the main dial moves continuously, and the chronograph (stopwatch) function counts seconds on the small sub-dial. This means the tachymeter on the bezel cannot really be used. Few people probably want a tachymeter, but this design screams "fake" at anyone who knows how a true chronograph should work.

The second flaw is that the spring bars are bent, and a straight spring bar cannot be fitted. I think this is so a cheap curved-end strap can be used. This could make it tricky to fit a replacement strap, or replace a spring bar if you lose one. If neither of these things bother you, then there is no reason not to buy the watch."

Wife has always loved a leather strap metal seems to give me a rash

I just did that terrible drive purchased item but got no bottle of aftershave- complaint going there way - if anyone around Redditch wants 2 I got reservation number.

Although not Swiss made anymore I can vouch for rotary, the quality is superb and £35 it's a steal for a sturdy chronograph. Those of you hating on the strap it's a standard fit and there are loads of other straps out there all you need is a spring bar tool.

I have to say I wasn't a fan of the croc style leather on my rotary but as soon as I wore it I knew it was going to stay, very comfortable.

Mine was £75 from Amazon lightning deals pretty sure it's now fixed at this price.

I don't get it. A watch is a bloody watch? Who cares where its made? It tells the time, thats it, even a cheap casio is accurate enough. Who even needs a watch in 2016 anyway, we all have mobile phones.

​I have no idea! I wasn't expecting it... I picked it up, and it was boxed and sellotaped to the boxed watch! My guess is, the watch I had (and prob everyone else) was a returned item. Maybe the original owner bought aftershave and returned it the same time? And I was lucky enough to have staff sort it all out who aren't too bright lol :smile:

I've yet to find ONE in stock within reasonable driving distance from where I live.

Sorry, but if you want to rate up something that's not available, then sobeit. Me, I'm old fashioned. It should be at least have a 'reasonable' stock availability.

The "Swiss made" Rotary's (Les Orginales) almost all (99%) use a CL-888. Which is a Chinese (ST-16) made movement assembled and finished in Switzerland to technically allow "Swiss made" on the dial. It case bracelet and everything else are Chinese made. It's a chinese watch, but then again the price reflects it. They are playing on a technicality in the law to achieve "Swiss" status.

Japan is a totally different story, you cannot just lump it together with China to try and make your point. The Japanese consistently turn out great watches and have done since the 70's. I have a Grand Seiko (which is finished better than you average Rolex) as testament to this in my own collection, as well as numerous diver's

For £35 you cannot go wrong, but my original point stands. Rotary now by and large turn out Chinese tat and this is a perfect example. Who seriously puts "Est in Switzerland" on a dial or "Waterproof". My Seiko Marine master does not claim to be waterproof and its a genuine diver's watch!

"Waterproof" = not really waterproof. Good price though.

I agree, Japanese made usually = very high quality (seiko for example) and Chinese varies but can be very high quality (seagull for example are excellent quality despite the name).

Some Rotary watches are still Swiss-made. Of course, most of their range are now manufactured and assembled in Japan and China. You have no idea if mine is Swiss or not, so your comment is rather silly. Also, not everything made in Japan and China is tat anyway!

My Rotary is 5 years old and as good as new and has kept perfect time.

Rotary are a good brand. My backup watch is still going strong after 20 years. I recently had the glass which was badly scratched replaced with sapphire crystal. Hopefully this will last at least amother 20 years.

I got the white bezel one about 4yr ago, the straps don't last long but it's a really good looking watch, and a good timekeeper, really solidly built and feels sturdy on the wrist.
One of my favourite watches I have owned.
