A new Wii U hardware bundle containing two of Nintendo's global million-selling multiplayer games arrive as a limited offer premium pack. Containing a black Wii U Premium Pack console, the anti-gravity racing action of Mario Kart 8 and the colourful shooter Splatoon. It's the ideal bundle for anyone seeking instant fun.
•In Mario Kart 8, players speed up, down and all-round antigravity courses. With 32 new and remixed classic tracks to speed around, new items to unleash during the heat of the race, and a host of ways to enjoy the action including racing against other players, whether they're in the same room or on the other side of the world using 12-player online competitive play (internet connection required).
•A completely fresh take on the action shooter genre, Splatoon's online matches (internet connection required) pits two teams of four players against one another competing to claim turf by covering it in their team's colourful ink. After splatting opponents and covering a level with colourful ink, players can transform into squids and swim quickly through their own ink or use it to take cover and hide from enemies.

No matter how good the hardware and great the library of games, you will never convince the herd the Wii U is a sound investment. I however can think for myself and therefore could not recommend the Wii U enough. HOT.

Personally myself i have learnt from experience to wait till a console has been out a while before purchasing it as there is then a decent back catalog of games. I made the mistake of buying the PS4 and XBOX ONE on release and there were very few playable games. Even if The NX is released this year (no one knows yet) i won't be buying it till there is a decent catalog of games. I think spending £200 on an older console with a decent back catalog of games is better than paying £350 on a console at release with hardly any games available. Each to their own though

For me there are far more games in the WII U library that i would play compared to that of the XBOX and PS4, i'm not into dark gloomy frustrating games or sporting ones. I prefer happy colorful fun games so for me the WII U is perfect. Think i had about 6 games on the XBOX and 3 on the PS4 that i played yet i have had my WII U since Christmas and have 14 games i play all ready. Alot of games are just remakes these days any way, i mean how many CODS and FIFAS does one need lol?

You're getting the two best games on the system and a library of games which should (in theory) go down in price over the next year. Someone will probably comment on the NX releasing this year but if you are a fan of nintendo I don't think you can go wrong with this console.

The WiiU GamePad has motion controls built in. the wiimotes you used on your old Wii will also work with the Wii U. You can also play old Will game discs on the Wii U too including Wii Sports. It doesn't come with Wii Sports but Nintendo re-made it for Wii U with HD graphics and online play... you can get it on disc, digital download or even rent it for a few days by buying a pass. The Wii U's best family/friends multiplayer though is Nintendo Land... you should look out for that.

You can't use the Wii U Pro Controller for the online multiplayer mode though (I think the only mode you can use it on is the Battle Dojo 1v1 mode).
:innocent:
In case you're opposed to motion controls, overwhelmingly, the Splatoon player base (70-80%) uses motion controls. It's like the difference between someone using keyboard-only controls for an FPS versus someone using mouse and keyboard controls. At the end of the day though, whether you use motion controls or not is up to you. :sunglasses:

I don't know I never bought it myself, however, you can download a demo! When you get it setup, go to the eShop and go to the Demos & Free to Start section. You could also buy a 24 Hour Pass for it but hopefully the demo will give you a good idea of what it's like. Lots of other demos there for you to download too. You may need a to plug in a spare USB drive / SD card in a USB reader / USB hard drive in order to install these demos, unless you uninstall demos you are finished with before you install others.
You could look up Nintendo Land on eBay, but yes, it is very good indeed. Setup a Wii U alert on here or the HUKD app to get alerts of good prices on Wii U games. Most Wii U Wiimote games require WiiMote Plus, just so you are aware, but if you don't have these already, you can get Wiimote Plus add-ons very cheaply on eBay and they work fine in my experience.

Couldn't agree more, I'm actively after a Wii U, but been a bit unlucky with the deals.
I'm an Xbox fan boy, always will be, but I desperate to get a Wii U now and will be purchasing one in the near future, yes there isn't great third party support now, but what it lacks there more than makes up in exclusives. IMO Nintendo has by far the best exclusives and this makes it worthwhile purchasing a Wii U for this reason alone.
Certainly isn't a dead console.

Nice. I'm tempted, only thing is both games are downloads- I'm not so sure I want them clogging up that limited hard drive space. I prefer owning a physical copy. But good deal on the whole, doesn't look like a better deal will be found for a Wii U any time soon.

It's not an original opinion because it's the majority/popular opinion. Any other and you're kidding yourself/in denial. Those 4 upcoming games really just cements what I said about there being no real upcoming games, not many anyway, and ones a remaster.
The game library is shallow compared to Wii or even the Gamecube.
MadeInBeats
18 Feb 16#46
And conveniently ignore the library already available to new owners? Ok so. It's popular to be an idiot these days... you sort of stand out as obscure if you're not posting about your PS4 graphics on Facebook via the app on your iPhone. That's great and all but you need to install the dictionary app and look up the meaning of 'dead', and readdress your popular (stupid?) 'fanboy' narrative Vs a levelheaded evaluation of the situation.
djhazardous
18 Feb 16#47
I said upcoming games, not games already out. It's you who are bringing the existing library into the conversation to bolster your lame attempts at defending a sinking/sunk ship. I was discussing the upcoming NEW games to which there are 3. And I'm sorry but none of those are going to be breaking any records or system-sellers. How's that for levelheaded evaluation, all the while not bringing petty personal insults into the equasion like yourself.

18 Feb 162#51
I think the point that 'djhazardous' is trying to make is that he thinks the Wii U isn't worth buying because there are very few new releases in the pipeline. Perhaps he should have made his point without calling it a dead system, it isn't dead it will run the existing games for years to come.
As a happy Wii U owner I recommend it to anyone as it has a fantastic library of games and I think is still well worth buying for the existing games available, which is more than enough for anyone who has a life outside of video games. But if you want to only play the latest COD or FIFA, obviously look elsewhere.
I will likely never have enough time to play all the great Wii U games I already have but I still buy more to add to the backlog. And I'm disappointed that there won't be many more new releases that I can buy.
Why am I so keen to buy more games that I won't get round to playing, oh well.

18 Feb 16#53
I heard about the Wii U Selects titles, do you know if they will get a UK release? I'd like to get Tropical Freeze for £20. Already have Mario 3d World and Pikmin 3, I don't think NES Remix 1+2 got a retail release in Europe though.
MadeInBeats to PGS
18 Feb 16#54
You'd think so but they haven't been officially announced anywhere yet - this is leaked from an American retailer so just watch out for the announcement over the coming weeks. NES Remix is the only one I don't own and should be pretty cheap as a Select edition.
djhazardous
18 Feb 16#55
Well I don't know about others but I don't clamour at the chance to buy a current console with no future or longevity. Especially at £200. It's really not a bizarre argument at all. The argument is 'NEW GAMES AREN'T BEING MADE FOR IT ANYMORE. I put it in capitals, just in case.

But it's still a worthwhile purchase for the great exclusives available. It's a personal choice if you want to buy one at this or any price. I'm sure some wouldn't even buy one at £50. jsty3105
19 Feb 163#72
True cost over 2 years PS4
PS Plus £35/year = £70
PS4 = £239 with Destiny Taken King
Electricity (Some might care, some might not) = about £35/year = £70
Total cost of ownership over two years = £379
Wii U
Wii U = £199 with Mario Kart 8 and Splatoon
Electricity (again, some might care, some might not)= About £14/year
Total cost of ownership over two years =£227
People always forget that PS Plus (necessary for online gaming on the PS4) isn't free. Suddenly, the difference between cost of a PS4 and cost of a Wii U is much wider. The costs above are simplified and assumes you don't purchase peripherals for either console.
Erm. The item description clearly reads - "seller refurbished". Adam's conditions were:
- Close to £200
- Brand new
- possibly with 2 top rated games
Your item also comes with 0 games. You've not come anywhere near rebutting Adam's points.

Spend your money how you please, Wii U games are great.
But, £40 off a console that is, for all wants and purposes, dead reaching nearly 900 heat, currently, is pretty over the top.
There are a few more games coming out, which I'm sure will be great, Starfox/Zelda, but the Wii U is going to be replaced this year, most likely.
I think alot of people feel like they have to defend their purchase, which explains the "Wii U Warriors Brigade" that come out each time a Wii U related deal is posted, and it suddenly rockets in heat.
On the point of remasters, all companies are just as bad, including Nintendo, there is quite a few remasters on Wii U and even more vastly overpriced re-releases on the Nintendo Store.
Really should just let people get what they feel is the right machine, doesn't need the die hard fanbois that seem to appear frequently in console deal related posts.

Even at this point there are not enough games on either PS4 and Xbox One.too many lame remasters..compare them to PS3/360 same time of their lives...
Wii U has much more to offer I agree in form of exclusives,I owned both PS4 and Xbox One and sold both due to lack of appealing, original games. And being disappointed by their small marginal graphical and technical improvements over their predecessors.
I will eventually pick another PS4 when at least 10 good original games area available for it.and it can only get cheaper..and better (slim model)..
regarding Wii U,while I really want one and in fact I already have 5 Wii U games collected,I still say £200 is too much for a console in it's last year of life with no future.no matter how good it is and how fun current library is,you have to face it,£200 is what you pay for a "alive" console with at least 3 years of active game support.not the case here,it will definitely be dead by same time next year.so asking £200 is not a good deal for it.
so I keep playing my 3DS and few missed PS3 and Wii games, while Wii U drops to the appropriate £160-£170 in the next 5-6 months probably..meanwhile I will hunt any Wii U game I can.

Thank you for posting this! Managed to get one today despite people saying out of stock :-)
Opening post

Fun fact; unbelievably, this list doesn't include Wonderful 101, Kirby, Yoshi, ZombiU, Fatal Frame V, Hyrule Warriors, Wii Party U, Nintendo land and many others.
How is the Wii U a dead console to someone new to it? Because they can't buy previously released games? Well, that's not true. Add to that the upcoming games: Twilight Princess HD, Pokken Tournament, Star Fox Zero, Zelda Wii U.
If the games don't appeal that's fine... ... but 'dead' lol... join an amateur dramatics club, son. Also, get some original thoughts, there's always one comes in a Wii U thread and posts 'dead console'... you wouldn't want to just be another statistic now would you ?

I feel obligated to go and buy it now.
Note, my son tells me that to play the splatoon game properly you need a wii u pro controller
You could look up Nintendo Land on eBay, but yes, it is very good indeed. Setup a Wii U alert on here or the HUKD app to get alerts of good prices on Wii U games. Most Wii U Wiimote games require WiiMote Plus, just so you are aware, but if you don't have these already, you can get Wiimote Plus add-ons very cheaply on eBay and they work fine in my experience.

The game library is shallow compared to Wii or even the Gamecube.
With stupid OTT statements like this and screaming to be taken seriously... pleaseeeee

But it's still a worthwhile purchase for the great exclusives available. It's a personal choice if you want to buy one at this or any price. I'm sure some wouldn't even buy one at £50. Out of curiosity, is there a price point where you would even consider buying one or are you just not interested full stop?
Not getting it sooner!!!!! It's a great console that has some great games. Splatoon and MK being just 2 of them. Worth every penny!

PS4
PS Plus £35/year = £70
PS4 = £239 with Destiny Taken King
Take away the lack of remote function for the interactivity in many games, and internet multiplayer, your really getting a fan made Ferrari. It looks a bit weird, has 4 gears a top speed of 60mph, but hey its free.
+ your pigeon holed into a non family friendly, generic console with 500 generic shooter games. Is quite hard to find decent games with a <18 rating. Great fun undoubtedly if blood, machine guns etc and endless shooting is your thing.
I'm not currently interested in a PS4 or XBox, but I don't go to those threads making negative comments, why would I bother?
Does anyone know if this happens on PS4 and XBox threads? I don't know as I never read them.
I agree with the above comments, can't see the point fighting over consoles, I was just trying to help someone out. I didn't realise in doing so I would be inadvertently getting involved.
...and people wonder why lurkers don't contribute more on here...
I put it down to a 'jealously'. The vile hatred of the Wii U by the other console fanboys can't be anything else than that? We get many very nice things from Nintendo that you don't get on other consoles.
