Do you know that for sure, or are you just guessing? It's just that the Amazon page for the same laptop says "A massive service bay door makes it easy to insert upgrades over time", and you can get the same model with a 128 GB SSD and a 1 TB disk, so I'd have thought this one would also have room for a spare 2 TB disk I have lying around?

It has one 2.5" bay and 1 M2 SSD / NVME slot, 2 x Ram slots.
This has a 512GB NVME drive, leaving the 2.5" free for you to add your HDD.
That link takes you to the 1080P version, which has a 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD instead of a 512GB SSD. I don't think that's worth it for only 20 quid less.

Yes the red exclusive model, OOS at the moment, tempted to go for it when it comes back into stock as the config suits me better and i like the Ethernet port as i have always found wifi very flaky on dell models.

Woo, I caved in and bought it! It was about £200 more than the last i7+1050 deal I posted but missed out on (and was hoping would return), but I'd rather have a single 500 GB SSD than a 128 GB SSD + 1 TB disk, and the 4K IPS screen, slightly faster 1050Ti graphics and twice as much RAM sealed the deal.

Part of me wants to buy either this or the lesser ones at £799.95 but the other part of me is a tight ****** who thinks "Yeah but you don't play many PC games, so why bother?"
In reality I want a 14inch with a 960m or 970m or something but they don't exist.

I'll probably be using mine for video editing, photo tweaking and running the occasional virtual machine more than I'll be using it for gaming. The 4K IPS screen, extra RAM and 8-thread CPU will make it great for stuff like that. Worth the extra £200 imho. Of course, being able to play a cheeky game every now and then is a bonus :smile:
This said I popped into my local John Lewis at lunch. They had the the £800 version there but also one that has i7-7700hq and 1050Ti, think only 8gb much larger HD, 1tb plus 128 SSD, I think but it was £850 (saving of £250). It isn't on their website though, which is odd. EDIT: Found the, Dell Inspiron 15G apparently, has 16gb, 1tb+256SSD for £850... wonder why it's not online. Seems like a great deal.

It's a non issue. You get a 2 year warranty with JL. Any problems with the machine just take it back to them and let them deal with Dell or replace/refund.

How will this cope with video editing etc? Was looking at a mac book that's an i7 16gb ram but looking at near 2k for one of those.

I expect it will fly (at least, I hope so, as video editing is one of the main things I'll be using mine for!)
The i7-7700HQ has 4 cores and multithreading, so you can have up to 8 encoder threads purring away.

4K plus 1050ti is like putting a ford fiesta engine in a Ferrari F40. Maybe great for editing some photos, but this baby ain't doing any 4K gaming ladies and gents.

4K screen is a major negative for this deal. You'll need to use scaling in windows which often doesn't work or makes things blurry and games will run like buts so you'll need to run them at a lower res resulting in it being blurry,

You'd think but it doesn't work very well. Tried it with a 13.3" 1440p screen playing at 720p - it was kinda rubbish.

I bought mine from JL a few months back. I can video edit no probs and I found it speedy and it even plays Ark Survival evolved (why I spent £1100 on it lol). I can live stream and do many things at once. Fans can get bit nosey when doing intense tasks but not stupid loud. I have the Black (Red Dell lettering) version. I thought it had Red keys in JL pic it did but mine are White. Mine is a 16GB i7 256 ssd & 1tb 1050ti. I can upgrade the ram to 32gb easy with bay at bottom. I bought it in cash and in doing that I could not collect next day in store (as no stock in store) so had to wait for delivery.

Got mine delivered today, I paid the £6.95 delivery charge.
Very happy with it, I mainly want to use it for video and photo editing, don't really play games on PC. I wanted the 4K screen for the video and photo editing, initial impressions were that the 4K screen is very good however it is off colour wise, far too yellow, open IE and the whites are a sickly shade of yellow. I quickly dug out my Spyder5 calibration gizmo and calibrated, wow makes a lot of difference. Updated the bios and the drivers for wifi, intel graphics and the system board from Dell, don't download the GTX 1050 ti drivers as there are newer ones at Nvidia. There are loads of updates for Windows 10, so make sure you have a good internet connection and time. Happy with the keyboard but do not like the touchpad, keeps doing silly things when it interprets my hand movements, zooming and resizing, turned off all gesture and extras, just left click right click and normal touchpad and it's great now. It does however feel a little flimsy to me. Generally I have these issues with most laptops. Once it's done all it's updating it is very fast and quiet, occasionally the fan kicks in but usually not for long. Would definitely recommend it for a Video and Photo editing and general use laptop.

Satisfyingly easy to take the entire back off it (just a single screw to undo!), and nice to see it uses a single 16 GB RAM module, leaving the second slot free. And indeed, there is also a whole 2.5" drive bay ready to stick my spare 2TB drive into.
I also love how the fans are easily accessible to remove dust in a few years' time.

Ended up returning mine. Pretty annoying, as it was amazing value for the spec. Just had so many problems with the 4K screen either shrinking everything into a tiny box in the middle, or reverting the text scaling to 100% without warning. It just seems that most of the older games and programs I wanted to use just don't play very well with 4K displays!
